Travel in Time: A Life Story in Poems

Rate this book
Life experiences are unique and inestimable. And exactly those values I aimed to capture in my poems. Life could be an adventure, a dream, an illusion, a wonderful poem or endless love.

TRAVEL IN TIME is not only a collection of poems, it is for you as a reader an experience into a new world, into the world of poetic and romantic imagery. Step out with me in time, there where you will touch with your spirit the Transylvanian green mountains, will listen to the song of a lonely shepherd, or you will hear the howling wolfs in the moon’ light. Experience with me the innocent emotions of the first love, breath the fresh air of a foreign country, meet the parents with hearts of diamonds, smile at the innocent sight of an angel, and perhaps, you will encounter a seldom beauty, the Queen of the Night. The images, thoughts and emotions you will experience reflect vivid moments from my life.

Perhaps, along the journey, you will encounter familiar situations or places, and maybe you will smile by reminiscing your own adventures, your own memories, your own love story.

Drawn from her own life experiences and written in a compelling prose, Musteţiu’s poignant debut is highlighted by moments of startling insight into life’s journey, exploring various themes of love, dreams, grief, and memories.

The first part, “Adolescent,” is a painfully honest portrait of adolescent love. In “I have got something divine,” Musteţiu draws a relentless portrayal of adolescent relationship and all its related attendant anxieties and insecurities. “I escaped into a sanctuary,” is perfectly rendered depiction of young love.

The second part, “In a Foreign Country,” explores themes of immigration, class division, cultural and language disparities, homelessness among other. “Pepina,” delves into the unconditional love of pets and so does the “I saw a homeless man with a parrot.” In “Transylvania, you are always in my heart,” the protagonist melancholy and wishfully remembers their birth country.

Refreshing and heartwarming, this short collection with its charming illustration will appeal to every poetry lover.

Join me to give a big round of applause to Laura Mustetiu, contemporary woman poet who's style is defined by her unique sensibility that makes even a loose string to vibrate.

There’s a lot we can learn from awesome poets - art of words, precision of emotions, the importance of adding pure beauty, depth and empathy to the world instead of vitriol, ignorance, and close-mindedness - and Laura is a beautiful example of exactly the kind of writers we should all read more of.

Laura plays unflinchingly and artfully with the ideas of love, marriage, family, time and space, heart and soul, identity and empowerment; all while inviting you to lose yourself in some truly mesmerizing time travel.

Let's put the world poetry at feminine today!

What an amazing find!
I did not know what to expect from this book but I was most pleasantly surprised. I was taken on a journey through a wonderful story, which was beautifully articulated in poetry. I have never before encountered poetry and story telling combined in such a way. I would recommend this book for those who love stories, poetry or both.

"Travel in Time: A Life Story in Poems" is a poetical lyrical story of love and pain which is beautifully and emotionally described in the first part of the book.

In the second part, the poems approach a variety of themes, such as the unconditional love, in "Pepina," the unique beauty of nature, in "The Queen of the night," and much more, all those seen and experienced from the perspective of an adolescent.

As the adolescent immigrates to a foreign country, she also discovers injustice, mirrored in "The Immigrant," or animal cruelties, "in "The start of a journey." She experiences natural catastrophes, such as the Australian bush fires, and those dramatic moments are captured in a unique way in poems like "The stars have no shine tonight."

The poems have wonderfully captured perceptible feelings and those, along with imageries, and unique experiences, create a special atmosphere.

A highly recommended book for poetry and romance lovers, but also for those who like to immerse and discover new worlds.

I always feel slightly embarrassed when writing a review of a book of poetry. Poets lay bare the darkest, most intimate corners of their souls, for all to see; and I feel a bit of a voyeur to be looking and writing about that. This is especially true in the case of Anisoara Laura Mustetiu's Travel in Time. Ms. Mustetiu tells us in graphic terms of her loves, her disappointments, her dreams, and the punishing trial of immigration and foreign-ness. I found the poems on the painful feeling of homelessness in a foreign land especially poignant; I work with African refugees, so I encounter this daily.

your feet touched the earth,
and desperately you cried, ‘Please help, please help!’
But people had no mercy, they had no mercy,
they had no God, they put you in prison,
saying ‘You should never have left the boat!’

If you want an intimate look into another soul, you will enjoy this book.
