Two years ago she ruined my family’s life.

Maybe she thought it was only a little lie.

That she did the right thing, that the worst was behind her, that no one had gotten hurt.

Oh how naive the black haired beauty was.

Fate has finally brought her back to me, to Blackthorn Academy.

Once upon a time I was obsessed, consumed with the need to make her mine.

Now I just want revenge, and I’ll do whatever I can to get it.

You see the beautiful, sweet, Willow doesn’t realize the mistake she’s made yet. She doesn’t realize that she’s entered the lion's den and there won’t be any escaping her fate.

I’m Parker Rothschild, and I’ll become her nightmare, her enemy, her bully.

By the time I’m finished with her she’ll be begging me for forgiveness and pleading to confess her sins.

My lips tip up at the sides, and I’m sure I look like the monster (🤡🤡🤡) she portrays me to be, in every way. “Yes, but you like it. You might be scared of me, confused and afraid of what I’ll do, but something inside of you enjoys it. Something inside of you clings to the darkness (🤡🤡🤡) inside of me. We’re two drops of paint on a white canvas, and one of us is going to dull out the other’s color (🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡).”

Deep shit right here, kids. ✌️ Makes it all the deeper the fact that this beautiful speech takes place right in the middle of the sex scene.

Implying that... shouldn't he be exploring other depths rather than the depths of poetry?

Another "monster" hero who is actually nice. Another mediocre book trying too hard to come across as poetic in a dark, edgy way, but turns out to be silly.

hating-you

'HATING YOU:' is the first bully romance novel in J.L. Beck's 'Blackthorn Elite' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' In this we meet Parker and Willow. This book also contains certain scenes that may cause triggers to some..

I am officially bypassing heaven and going straight to hell!! Because I really loved this one!! I've not read a book by J.L. Beck for a while but have had my eyes on her bully books and am rectifying that, one book at a time.

Revenge runs rampart within Parker's veins, he hates Willow with a vengeance, she ruined everything, not only the life of his brother but his too all because of one little lie, but that lie had consequences and like a domino effect it changed a lot of lives.

“She was my obsession, and now she would become my retribution.”

Things get out of hand and the people Willow thought she would be able to go to for protection turn their backs on her because of who Parker's family is. They own the school, they own the people. no No one will help her. She's on her own.

“I'm slowly drowning, and the people around here see it, yet they keep putting rocks in my pockets, making me sink deeper and deeper.”

This was graphic, this was disturbing, this took bullying up to a whole new level, this book will push your boundaries!! This definitely ticked all those bullying boxes. It was hot, it was gritty, it made me squirm, it made me question my morals, but fuck it those died long ago with what these authors throw at us lol

BUT as a side note if you've read Sam Mariano's Untouchable book there is a scene which is similar to that where the boys take things up a notch in the classroom.

“We're chaos ridding a slippery slope into hell, and if we're not careful, we'll both get burned to a crisp.”

I am not a stranger to dark, twisted romance. Stockholm syndrome and all. Hating You promises that dark and twisted bully type of romance.

What I found out this book is a FSOG wannabe. Its so bad. The execution of tje story, the chemistry between the characters, the conversation all of it is bad. Its like the author did a copy and paste from several books and plaster it together.

Its a mess. Not even the twist at the end can help. Nothing can save this book.

Better-developed & more likable main characters than book2's(Breaking You).

The GOOD: ***SPOILERS***
Good combo of 18yo virgin college-student h's goodness & innocence with grit & sass & what made 18/19yo popular college-student H's cruelty to her more bearable because she often fought back even with sarcasm when she didn't have much of a choice with H. Loved that h didn't just passively take the hits & fought back (i.e., @ 18%, she kicked H in the balls right after she made him think that she was going to BJ him after whipped it out & demanded a BJ). Yet she knew her limits & didn't push too much so she wouldn't jeopardize her beloved older-sister's mental rehab treatment per her agreement with their cold-hearted social-climbing father. Loved that she accepted the sacrifices she had to make for her suicidal rape-victim sister but clear that she hated it and wanted to move past her current martyr role to complete independence from her dad once her sister was safely-established in her treatment facility. Liked that H's cruel vengefulness was tempered with some guilt over hurting h & his long-time obsession with her so he'd had to force himself to remember his brother she & her sister sent to prison 2 years ago for raping her sister. Loved H's alpha-dominance & stalkery obssesion with h.

Good romance & emotional development, esp in last 30% when H's feelings for h was overtaking his revenge feelings. And then the angst from both H&h learning the truth re: who was involved in the rape of her older sister (***it was H's bro after all plus their mutual friend who tried to rape h later too but H's bro didn't wear a condom unlike his friend so his DNA evidence landed him in prison 2 years ago while the friend left free***). Good character development, with h becoming stronger & more open and esp H becoming more protective-possessive & caring of h as he had to make a clear choice for her over his family. Good S chem/hot S scenes.

Sexual History:
Not much info on virgin h's dating life. But H was the 1st to see her naked & touch her privates. H had been crushing on h for years as they grew up in same rich community but no exact timeline. He had casual lovers who he'd smex while fantasizing about h. The 1st time H touched h sexually & made her orgasm was in the presence of his 2 friends (his BFF & the other guy who raped h's sister) while touching her through her clothes. They heard but didn't see. After it happened, H didn't like that his friends even heard her so he didn't do it again. Same thing happened later, when he forced her to wear a hooker-type dress to a family function & didn't like that other men saw her so undressed.

Hating You was a wonderfully addictive read that kept my heart racing from start to finish. It was a high-octane ride full of twists, turns, secrets and lies. Willow and Parker were like fire and ice. I absolutely loved them! Their story was dark and disturbing, sexy and intense, and will keep you entertained, intrigued, and engaged the whole way through. Words fail me to describe just how much I loved this book.

In Hating You we meet Willow and Parker, two people who were both dealt a bad hand in life. Willow was a kind soul who only meant to help her sister. But with that one accusation, Parker's whole world was turned upside down. Any feelings he may have had for Willow were quickly replaced with hate, and he vowed to make things right with brutal revenge. He was hell-bent on ruining her for what she and her sister had done to his family. But despite all of the push and pull between them, they couldn't deny their attraction to one another. Her light was drawn to his darkness, and his darkness was drawn to her light. But will these two get what they want or will it all fall apart?

The angst level in this was perfectly balanced. My anticipation grew with each turn of the page. I was on the edge of my seat, hooked from beginning to end. The plot was perfectly executed with plenty of shocking twists and turns that will have you furiously flipping the pages. All in all, Hating You is one wild ride that I can promise you won't want to miss. This is a MUST READ! 5 Wickedly Sinful Sexy Stars!

FIVE BULLY STARS for Willow and Parker 🖤🖤🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book that I've read written by J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman.

I love their writing style.

It's simple and beautiful that pulling you into the story from the beginning.

"Hating You" is a romance story with bully and enemies to lovers tropes.

If you're looking for the next dark bully romance book, then this is the book for you!

I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Not quite 4 stars but definitely not 3 stars :)

If you don’t like dub-con or rough sex because of revenge, this is not the book for you. The POV for both H/h address their sexual and physical relationship to the point there is little doubt how not rape their interactions are.

Are they dark, violent, and raw?

Yes. No doubt. And they BOTH. Want. It.

I’m guessing, once again, that other people have trouble discerning fact from fiction. If you’re so impressionable you can’t tell the difference maybe we should swaddle you in silk and censor you from reading the book rather than berate the authors and attempt to censor their writing...1950’s much??? This isn’t a glorification of rape, I’ve read that in other books (here’s looking at you Crystal Spears), there’s a difference. Let’s not play fast and loose with the facts of this novel.

It all comes down to sexual preferences with this book. Some people like to read this. Some people actually like this kind of sex IRL, shocking, I know. Sometimes the exhilarating sex hate fucking can bring makes it worth it.

Just. Fucking. Saying.

DNF @ 36%

This isn't working out for me :/ While the MMC is quite mean (what I want), there's no punch to this story. There's some telling in the narrative that's rather OTT. The dialogue feels...stilted? Or maybe overdone? idk. This feels easily forgettable.

I'm on a roll with dnfing new adult books. I loved Lords of Pain, but I think I may need to switch genres to get myself over this book hangover. I need a cracktastic bodice ripper or something.

I'm so pissed I went to delete a book that shouldn't be on my shelf and ended up deleting this one instead. Of all the books I could have deleted, it had to be this one with me complaining about some readers being disrespectful… LOL. Long story short, apparently, you can't rate a book however you see fit, for whatever reason you see fit, and you should stay away from the genre (if you cant handle rapey H) even though there are books you love in said genre. Go figure. So, I hated it, and you loved it. Big deal. Respect other people's opinions and move the fuck on.

3.5-4 “ Willow & Parker “ stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m a big fan of angsty and bully romance. I’m always looking for them more and more and these days they are coming in abundance which makes it harder to decide which one to read first. I’m becoming picky with them since the really different and good once are hard to find. This one really hit the mark for me. I have heard great reviews about this authors duo and I was not disappointed.

”P-Parker?” I say his name in a whisper, praying that I’m wrong. Hoping that I’m wrong.
“The one and only.” Even wrapped in the darkness of the room, I still know he’s smiling. I can feel it on my skin.

It was angsty, suspenseful, dark, steamy and very engaging. I loved the writing. I just needed a little more romance and connection between the two characters. At the beginning it seemed a little predictable in guessing what will happen next but that’s when the story took a really surprising turn and I was hooked. I loved the twists and turns in the second half of the book.

We meet willow who starts at a college which she was forced to attend by her father. It’s an elite college where only the riches come. What she doesn’t expects is to find Parker there and how he was going to turn her world upside down and the reach he had in the campus. They were friends before which took a dark turn due to a mistake she made. She definitely didn’t act as a doormat. She was smart and had a strong backbone. She didn’t shy away from standing up to him. She was loyal.

Coal-black lashes fan against her snowy cheeks. “Make me bleed, and I’ll make you bleed in return. Blood for blood, Parker.” The seduction in her voice zings straight to my cock, and it takes every fibre in my body not to drag her out of that booth and into some dark corner of the restaurant.

Parker hates willow because of what she did to her brother who ended up in prison. He blames her and wants her to feel the pain and pay for her mistakes. He’s definitely attracted to her. Behind all his hate, he’s hurt because he trusted her. I understood his actions and where he was coming from. I loved how he grovelled when the truth cane out and how he stood by her and made up for his actions.

”What are you doing ?” She squeaks as I drag my fingers up her spine.
Brushing the hair off of one shoulder, I flick my tongue against her earlobe, smiling at the loud intake of breath, “Fucking the defiance out of you.”

There was definitely a lot of heat and sexual chemistry between the two. The sex scenes were fire. Parker was just the perfect dominating, handsome and a dirty talker. I just wished there was a little more romance for it to be a five star. The series is definitely going in the right direction.

I would recommend this book to others. ♥️

Bad or good, I always want to read a book that makes me FEEL something, because if it’s boring, then what’s the point? That’s probably why I’ve read so many books by this team of authors, because they are absolutely, 100%, never boring. Unfortunately, the male lead in this one (I cannot, for the life of me, refer to him as a “hero”) is just straight up psychotic. We do NOT see any redeeming qualities in Parker as he terrorizes Willow, and maybe some part of her likes what he’s doing, but any consent she gives in the book is given under duress. This REALLY rides a fine line into big old R territory, and if you have any triggers whatsoever, I’m betting this will hit on one. I’m all for a dark romance, but this crossed a line for me big time.

The story follows Willow, a college freshman who is happy to get away from her dad and the drama at home. Two years ago, she testified on her sister’s behalf and ended up putting Parker’s brother in jail. Feeling that his brother was wrongly accused, Parker has made it his life’s mission to get revenge on Willow, not just for her accusations, but also for ruining the budding feelings he had for her in the past. When she doesn’t heed his warning to get away while she can, Parker takes that as her acceptance that she’ll be his plaything.

The writing itself is actually really great, which is probably why I made it all the way through the book. It’s so easy to get sucked into the story and overlook Parker’s actions, hoping that he redeems himself in the end (if he does, it’s not nearly enough). The sexual tension is palpable (the book is off the charts steamy) and I could see this turning into something great, but I’ve read several books by this team of authors and this is the first one that made me HATE the male lead. Parker is not right in the head, and his treatment of Willow is unforgivable. Pair that with what Parker’s brother is accused of doing to Willow’s sister, and the whole thing gets a lot slimier. It was around the time that Parker included his friends in the sexual torment while Willow was restrained that I started to disconnect from the story, and let me tell you... it really doesn’t get any lighter after that. This isn’t the kind of dark romance where things start to get lighter part way in; it’s non-stop obsessive torment by Parker culminating in a “HEA” for these two. It’s laughable to believe that Willow would love Parker after everything he’s done. So was the book boring? Not a chance. But did I love it? Absolutely not. I’m sure I’ll read books by Beck & Hallman in the future, but I’ll steer clear of the rest of this series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well, hello there...what do we have here?!? A bully book! *claps hands* Like an honest-to-God bully book! I've been waiting a hot minute for a mean jerk-face bully to cross paths with me. I mean, if you've been reading/following my reviews, you all know that I tend to go on streaks. I'll squirrel for a while and skip down the Sci-Fi/Fantasy trail, then rom-com it up for a while, dig deep with some psych thriller mind-messery, but usually-I'll round third with a rocket up my ass heading for home where my bully lovin' heart beats the strongest for these enemies-to-lovers books.

“I'm slowly drowning, and the people around here see it, yet they keep putting rocks in my pockets, making me sink deeper and deeper.”

Same, girl, same...

This is my first book by these authors, but it won't be my last. I was hooked, as captivated as Willow was by the hot and naughty AF Parker. Blatant and unapologetic, Hating You draws a line in the sand and then does a back flip over it with middle fingers in the air.

It isn't a book for everyone, it's dark and could be triggery for lots of people...but man, the story is gold. There are some little proofy bits that need to be fixed, but that's just my editing brain that I can't shut off, and nothing that detracted from my enjoyment or the appeal of the book. 4.5 stars!

This was a really great bully enemies to lovers romance book! That Parker, oh man..that guy is possessive, alpha and major bully, and I was all here for it! Although as the story progressed you could tell that he actually really wanted Willow in a Genuine way, not just in a revenge way...even if he wouldn’t admit it to himself until later in the book.

I thought I had the ending to the book figured out but the last 10% of the book was just Crazy!!! I had clearly NOT figured it out and was thrown for a total loop! Wowza!! I certainly did not see that coming!

I really enjoyed this book and read it quickly within a day or so!

Hating You is book 1 in the Blackthorn Elite Series and is a Dark Bully Romance that is packed full angst, drama, revenge, suspense, secrets and lies. It was super addictive, intriguing and super entertaining

The tension, fire, lust and attraction as well as hatred and disdain between Parker and Willow was intense and capitvating. I really loved both characters with Parker being the Alpha male anti-hero you will both love and hate and Willow being sweet, tough, resilient and conflicted at times. The push and pull between these two was amazing while they were stuck in a game of cat and mouse neither of them were prepared for. I really enjoyed this story and found i could not put it down and reccomend it to anyone who enjoys a good Bully Romance though there are some sensitive issues faced in the book so i sugguest taking caution if you are someone who needs trigger warnings

I seriously don’t understand how a book about a woman who somehow falls in love with a man while he sexually abuses her, could ever get such high of a rating that it has right now. Not only does the main guy sexually abuse her with his friends, but emotionally manipulates and humiliates her for his own personal vengeance. They have no connection what so ever and have never even had a decent conversation that didn’t involve manipulation. The only personal time they’ve had together is when he is abusing her, yet I’m supposed to believe they’re in love?? Yeah no.

It also pisses me off that these type of men in books don’t seem to understand that arousal and getting wet is a natural reaction the body has. Just because she’s wet, doesn’t mean she wants or is enjoying you force yourself on her.

Ok.
That was...HOT.

WELL.
I found the plot for this book intriguing and the chemistry between Parker and Willow insanely intense. Truly the perfect blend of hate, lust and (at times) fear! Despite some less than sexy/more than slightly f*cked up parts-I loved it. It kept my interest and I didn’t want to put it down!

Sure, there were still times I wanted to smack Parker upside the head because his actions betrayed his thoughts. The push and pull between The H/Hr was addicting. I’m happy with the way the characters/their relationship developed, even if it felt like a bit of a 180 flip by the end.

If you enjoy a dirty bully romance that toes the line between right and wrong, toys with consent, and packs a good twist then this one is for you!

As for the narration: the narrators were new to me, and while both did an amazing job, I had a hard time sticking with listening vs reading. This is because the male narrator’s voice didn’t quite match the character, Parker, for me. It was a bit too...soft. It kept throwing me off. Parker was a very aggressive, possessive, and a little over the top. This narrator just wasn’t able to deliver all that (for me).
*I was given an audio code by the author in exchange for an honest review and ended up downloading it to my KU library to finish reading instead*

Overall, a rough, sexy, and intense story! Definitely recommend!

Wow. Tension off the chart, fire, twists, turns, suspense, lust, hate, love and more make this one hot read. If you like bully romance then this is for you. Parker is very dark, dangerous and twisted. Willow is the perfect woman for him. She is sweet, open, and feeds his dark side. "Something inside you clings to the darkness inside of me. We're two drops of paint on a white canvas, and one of us is going to dull the other's color" I love this quote. Parker makes this statement to Willow during a very dark twist in the book.
The characters, the plot, the whole world that these authors have created is amazing. I didn't want to put this book down. I like that it isn't a instalove type of book, this was tried and true bully romance. Parker is fueled by so much hate and he is allowed to just keep his secrets, and hate as he takes it out on Willow. Such a good book, this story is told is dual pov.

I can get past bullying in this novel because it wasn’t extreme. Only H was the one who bullied her and never let anyone mistreat her. He was very possessive but also also a big jerk. You can say he mostly blackmailed her not bullied her and whenever he was a jerk he also felt bad. Good story. I liked it. No cheating, no manho though he had his fair share of girls it’s not mentioned on page, no ow drama .

Loved this dark bully romance with an OTT obsessed hero. He loved her since he was 15 but that turned to hate when she helped her sis put his bro in jail. He blackmails and bully’s her but doesn’t allow others to hurt her.

No ow drama or cheating. Actually every girl he’s taken to bed he imagined to be her even while hating her. If you like crazy obsessed H, read this!

College romance.

Love scenes were dirty and hot!

Cons: wish the book was longer.
