The Dating Series #6

A Date to Play Fore

Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover come together for a sexy new series that delivers romance for every season!

Tee up for the long drive, it’s golf season!

After winning the U.S. Open, Greyson Jennings couldn't help but take playful jabs at the expense of his prime competition, Bryan Nelson. His snarky claims during the press junction may have burned off like fog on the green, if a week later they hadn’t found themselves at the same golf resort.

Hungry for a little payback, Bryan challenges Greyson to a grudge match: Grey and his best friend versus Bryan and his sister, Leah. Turns out, Leah is a ringer with a swing—and curves—that turn Grey’s thoughts to a hole in one of another kind.

Unfortunately, Leah’s opinion of him has been formed by the many stories Bryan has shared. That may hurt this golfer’s handicap, but he’s nowhere near ready to give up. It’s game on as Leah agrees to meet Grey on the green and go head to head with the hole as the goal.

Can Greyson prove there’s more to him than an impressive club and a carefully crafted bad boy persona? Or will the sting of Leah’s rejection leave him in need of some alone time and a good ball washer?

Not the best so far, but still cute.

This is book #6 in this series of novellas, and it's still such a guilty pleasure of mine. They're all on Kindle Unlimited and 100 pages long, perfect sweetness to read in one sitting. I do think that this one ended up being a little too cheesy, but I loved the sports aspect of it, and it was the first romance I've read that envolved golfing, which was pretty awesome. I enjoyed the protagonists and their enemies to lovers progression.

I'll be picking A Date with a Foodie up soon!

I have loved all these books within this ‘series’. And while I did find some funny scenes in this one, it didn’t seem up to par (HA!) with the other ones.
Greyson was a very lovable character. I greatly enjoyed him. Maybe I just didn’t enjoy Leah... I don’t know.
Overall, cute story!

Greyson Jennings & Bryan Nelson are always competitive...well rivals as professional golfers. After Greyson wins big in the championship, Bryan wedges a little bet for a game. Him and his sitter Leah and Greyson and his friend. That’s great except Greyson has had a crush on Leah for a while. Too bad she is the enemies sister and she thinks the same as her brother does. Can he make Leah see him for more than the guy that always beats her brother? He sure hopes so! Omg! Greyson’s thoughts are hilarious and had me giggling. I loved this fun and sassy novella in this dating series. Another Winner! Told in dual POV

A Date to Play Fore is literally a hole in ONE! Greyson and Leah have sizzle on the green and off it is too bad that Greyson is the biggest competitor to Leah's professional golfing brother.

Greyson loves to poke at his rival, Bryan. Too bad Bryan's gorgeous sister, Leah, seems to dislike Greyson as much as her brother does. But a trip to Vegas just might pull back the veil on both their perceptions of each other. But will what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas? Or can Greyson make a hole in one with the gorgeous woman he loves?

This is another sweet, fun installment of the Dating series. It felt a tad rushed, being that it's a novella like the rest of the series, but I really liked both characters and their electric chemistry. Greyson was the real standout for me with his charming and sweet personality. I love that he was the one who was obviously smitten and had to work double time to get Leah interested. Can't wait for more of the Dating world.

3.75 stars--A DATE TO PLAY FORE is the sixth instalment in the contemporary, adult, erotic, romance DATING SERIES co-authored by Heidi McLaughlin and LP Dover. This is twenty-eight year old registered nurse Leah Nelson, and thirty year old, professional golfer Greyson Jennings’ story line. All of the Dating Series instalment are stand alone story lines.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Leah and Greyson) A DATE TO PLAY FORE follows the enemies to lovers relationship between twenty-eight year old registered nurse Leah Nelson, and thirty year old, professional golfer Greyson Jennings. Greyson Jennings and Bryan Nelson are competitors both on and off the golf course but their love-hate relationship becomes entangled while on vacation when Greyson finds himself face to face with Bryan’s sister, the woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. A bet, a trip to Vegas, and a pretend wedding ceremony find our couple professing their love to one another but family back home refuses to accepts Greyson’s motives for anything but pay back and revenge. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Greyson and Leah, and the potential fall-out as sins from the past come back to haunt Greyson Jennings.

A DATE TO PLAY FORE is a fun and fast paced story of unrequited love. Greyson has loved Leah Nelson from afar for as long as he can remember but her brother’s hatred for, and competitive nature towards Greyson Jennings may be too big of a hurdle for our couple to jump. The premise is lively and captivating; the characters are flirty and energetic; the romance is tender and passionate.

Greyson and Bryan’s competition on the golf course has extended off the course as well. The only problem with that is that Greyson wants to pursue a relationship with Leah while Bryan is determined that it won’t happen.

Leah may be attracted to Greyson, but she knows that her family would hit the roof if she started dating him however between a bet and a golf game that decision is taken from her hands. Will their first date be their last date, or will Greyson be able to prove to Leah and her family that they belong together?

Sweet and sexy it was fun to watch Greyson’s pursuit of Leah.

A Date to Play Fore is book six in The Dating Series. All the books in the series can be read as standalones. They are short quick reads, that can be read during lunch break. I'm really loving this series.
Greyson is a pro golf player. His rival has always been Bryan. Bryan has a sweet sexy sister,
Leah, that has caught Greyson's eyes. Greyson is a good guy. He comes off a little cocky at first but he really is a sweet guy. Leah is a good character too. By default she doesn't like Greyson at first but as she get to know him she see him in a different light. This one is a quick sweet read.

Greyson and Bryan have been golf rivals since college. Now years later they continue fighting to be number one, position that Greyson usually occupies.
Greyson has been trying to get Bryan’s little sister, Leah, to agree to go on a date with him. His interest in her borders on obsession and it is not until she loses a bet that he succeeds. He takes to Las Vegas where they have a great time, and to have a laugh they decide to have a fake wedding and upload the photos to the internet. But when Leah’s family finds out not everything is laughter, Bryan confesses to his sister that years ago Greyson promised him that he was going to screw with him by sleeping with his sister, but Greyson will do whatever it takes not to lose his fake wife and convert her on his real one.
Funny, sexy, dreamy , a great love story in just 100 pages.

I'm not even a golf fan, but I loved this story. Greyson sounds like a golf hottie I wouldn't mind hitting balls with. Even in the game of golf it is possible to find someone you love. Read this cute story of how he tries to woo miss Leah.

When I got the email to say that this title had been delivered to my Kindle, I immediately started on it. I’ve devoured every title this year so far and knew I was going to love it, I wasn’t wrong! I think that this one is my favorite so far!
Golfers Greyson Jennings and Bryan Nelson have been enemies since college when Bryan spent most of that time following Greyson on the leaderboards. Too bad Bryan’s sister Leah hates Greyson just as much as Bryan does. No matter how many time’s Greyson’s asked, Leah’s turned him down.
When he notices a post on Bryan’s social media about where his family will be on vacation, Greyson and his best friend/caddie Eli head to the same resort for a little vacation of their own.
When Leah happens to see Greyson Jennings lounging at the pool at the same resort her family’s at for a family reunion, she couldn’t believe his audacity. She knows the only reason that he’s there is to give Bryan grief. They’ve been messing with each other since college, and since both their bank accounts and their egos have grown, they’ve only gotten bolder in their actions.
When a bet turns into a date and a date turns into a wedding, Greyson and Leah has a lot to explain, to everyone, especially when photos are posted on social media. But can Greyson get Leah to believe that his feelings are genuine?
This story had me all over the place, I was laughing, I was angry, I was joyful. All in the span of a short story. That’s when you know you’ve struck gold. Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Dover have definitely hit a hole in one with this story and it’s a wonderful addition to the Dating Series. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at the chicken costume. Want to know how a chicken costume comes to play in a golf story? Check out this wonderful story and find out for yourself.

Who knew there was a sarcastic, competitive side to golf? "Grip it and rip it" was a great line. I liked how this portrayed it as a sport, with competition, rivalries, and impact on the body. I'm not a golf enthusiast so this made it more interesting for me to read.
I liked Greyson, but I've liked all the men in the Dating series so far.
He knows who he wants and he sets out to get her. Obviously the rivalry with her brother has thrown a spanner in the works, but Greyson's wanted Leah for years.
Leah was hard for me to get a read on. Her love-hate with Greyson is interesting to read, frenemies to lovers always are. But her wanting him to prove himself without reciprocating, grated on my nerves.
Greyson's willingness to make a spectacle of himself was endearing and I want to read more about his best friend Eli.
This is yet another funny, sweet addition to a great series by two awesome authors.

I'm not a fan of golf because it's so very boring to me.  That being said, golf has never been more fun than it was in A Date to Play Fore.  This perfect duo keeps topping the previous book with each new book, and that's saying something since I'm in love with The Dating Series HARD.  Greyson & Bryan are serious rival's in golf that is filled with some jealousy, a lot of hostility, but very entertaining at the end of the day.  Greyson has had a crush on Bryan's sister for some time now, but she wants nothing to do with him since her brother has told stories about him.  As Greyson & his best friend take on Bryan & Leah in a grudge match that Bryan proposed, it only got funnier in my opinion since Greyson's inner monologue had me rolling.  Will he ever be able to get Leah to see him as anything other than her brother's enemy?!  Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, second chances, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below they are part of this series in case you want to read those books(s) first
A Date for Midnight (The Dating Series, #1)
A Date with an Admirer (The Dating Series, #2)
A Date for Good Luck (The Dating Series, #3)
A Date for the Hunt (The Dating Series #4)
A Date for the Derby (The Dating Series #5)

This is Leah and Grey’s story. When Greyson is challenged to a grunge golf match, he takes Bryan up on it. What he did not know was he was going to fall hard and fast for Bryan’s sister. She does not really like him after hearing all the stories that Bran has told her about him. Can he convince her that he is not that guy? Can he get her to give him a shot or will at the end of the game she just walk away from him?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I’ve really enjoyed this series so far, so A Date to Play Fore by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover was an easy choice. The title itself had me ready for a fun read, and the story delivered. Greyson may have just won the U.S. Open, but his biggest challenge comes in the form of Leah, the sister of his fiercest rival. She’s got skills on the course and a sharp wit to match, making her more than just a casual competitor. Watching these two transition from competitors to something more kept me turning the pages.

The mix of rivalry, playful banter, and undeniable chemistry made this story truly enjoyable. Greyson has to work hard to prove he’s more than just his public persona, and Leah isn’t someone to fall for charm alone. Their dynamic felt natural, and the balance of sports and romance made this a delightful escape. A Date to Play Fore is a fantastic addition to any book collection.
Happy reading… enjoy!

Who is Greyson? What does he do for a living? Who are Leah and Bryan? What do we learn about them? Why is there so much animosity between Greyson and Bryan? Oh my goodness!! All of them are great at golf! I loved the bets that were made between Leah and Greyson! One of them was HUGE! What was it and what was the outcome of said bet? When the two returned from their outing to where they had run into each other, what happened? Why was sneaking around involved? What did Bryan do or say that changed everything? I loved Leah's bombshell at the end! Read and see how much fun this story was!

These are the cutest stories, and each one doesn't disappoint. I am always a fan of a book in my home state of North Carolina, and I had fun imagining whether Leah worked at Atrium Health or Novant. It was sweet, Greyson was willing to work for Leah's affections, and it paid off.

In golf terms, Greyson started with a double bogie at the pool, but he later managed to make a comeback with a birdie at the bar. He scored another birdie by beating Leah in their golf round to get her to go on the big date. Vegas, my friends, earned him an eagle. The chase to follow her to Charlotte was like hitting amen corner at the Master's tournament. He aced it, HOLE IN ONE! Greyson won that tournament of the heart!

I'm looking forward to the next in the series...

Like all the other books in The Dating Series this book was a fun quick read.

Greyson Jennings is a pro-golfer that isn't always seen in the best light. However, is he really like this when he isn't compete with Bryan Nelson?

Leah Nelson is a bright women. However, because of being Bryan's sister she has grown to not liking Greyson. However, when she gets to know him will this change?

The fun banter between Leah and Greyson brought a fun aspect to this book. There are other parts that make this book a fun read.

Can't wait to read what these two come up with next.

I wasn't too sure how to feel about Grayson at the start of this particular story; he came across as immature at the beginning, but the more I read, the more he began to grow on me and by the middle of the story I was cheering for him. I kinda sorta got the animosity between Grayson and Leah's brother, but with her being an adult I felt like she shouldn't have to hide who she was hanging out with. I liked the chemistry between Grayson and Leah, it was subtle (for the most part) but still there, and really ramped up with their impromptu date.

A Date to Play Fore...is a hole in one!!
Once I started reading I just couldn’t put it down. What a great novella. The insta-love that Greyson feels for Leah may seem out of the realm of possibility, but this story will make you believe that it’s real. Leah has never really liked Greyson because he is a rival of her brother. Once she gets to know him her feelings start to change quite quickly. This is a super fun and sexy read. Pick this one up and devour it like I did.

Omg I love Greyson & Leah. There is nothing like a good rivalry and this has it. Greyson & Bryan are rivals on the green but Greyson has eyes for Bryan’s sister Leah. Leah doesn’t make it easy for Greyson but both feel something that’s real. Really enjoyable short story that has me wanting more. Another great read with great characters that I didn’t want it to end.

Good

Y'all I loved this series... and this book was my favorite! I really liked both Greyson and Leah and I liked that Leah told him no so many times. The back wnd forth between Greyson and her brother is long past over due to be done. I liked that Greyson was the one one to squash it and that he was willing to totally embarrass himself to make her happy. These two are almost sickeningly adorable and I loved her surprise for him at the end.

I really liked this book Grayson and Leah were a great couple. I like that even though there was animosity between Grayson and Leah's brother she's willing to give him a chance. Of course there are misunderstandings and Leah and Grayson have to figure out if they can be a couple despite her brother's disapproval. The ending was funny and made me happy. I would recommend this book if you like a feel good story with great characters and a fun plot.

Fabulous

I loved reading this story. It was fabulous, funny, and surprising. Who knew playing golf would be so fun. Greyson was every bit of the gentleman with Leah. He respected her , and loved her like no other. I have never edited laughed so hard then at the end with the chicken suit. That bit was hilarious. I really have enjoyed reading all six of the novellas. The authors really did a fabulous job.

No better revenge can be made than to try and date the sister of your nemesis on the fairway, but when Greyson decides that the feelings he has for Bryan's sister Leah are more than just fun and games he is in for a rude awakening. The fact that Leah wants nothing to do with him and avoids all of his advances like the plague puts him in an awkward situation. But persistence pays off and romance can be found on the 18th hole in this funny and heartwarming story.

Such a fun and sassy enemies to lover romance. How can you love the one person you have to hate? This stubborn as hell couple made me laugh at how hard it was to just admit their feelings. One gave in easily while the other was just not having it. This was the perfect pick me up and I can't wait to read more from these talented ladies.

This one was just okay for me. Leah was a brat and never really seemed to take Grayson seriously. He was in a competition with her brother, but it seemed he got blamed for all of it and her brother just was accepted for being ridiculous. The whole "date" thing and what transpired was OTT for me. Not a fan of "insta" love when one of the two couldn't stand the other the day before.

It was ok read for me. First, I didn't liked how Greyson was at the beginning. Greyson was too much cocky for my taste. One thing is to be self assured and another arrogant ass. Later he better himself.
The 'misunderstanding' or Greysons 'fuckup'... That felt to me over the top. He didn't do anything wrong, to cause that kind of reaction from Leah.

This has been such a fun series!!! All short but sweet and sexy reads and this one is no exception! Of course because they are novellas they are basically insta-love, but these two amazing authors really make that work in these stories. In fact this one is one of my faves. Greyson & Leah are just adorable together with their banter and her pretending he doesn't affect her at all. She is his rival's sister, so that is a big no-no, but Greyson doesn't care. He goes after what he wants, and that is Leah. Will she finally give in? What do you think? This is romance after all!
Another winner! I loved it!!
