I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.
TW: Sex scenes, rape, torture, i don't care what else!

What I Liked: 1. NOTHING!
What I Didn't Like: 1. Needed an editor badly 2. All the horny old people sex scenes 3. Dialogue of the whole book 4. Ellipses
Overall Thoughts: I love how Cheryl was like looking on the web and not even on the dark web and finds this doctor that does body transplants, but she's like "oh I don't need a new a body just a new head I'm sure it's no different". She sounds so dumb.
The red sundress made her appear child-like which his body considered sexy and irresistible. Ewwww what?? This is coming from a man who is almost 40.
These people all act so nonchalant about getting a new head. Like their bread went stale and they are getting a new loaf.
Cool no one needs passports to go to China.
I know this is a HUGE plot device in this book but I simply refuse to believe a man dying with cancer of the brain is able to just be so sexually ready to go all the time. He's in so much pain and he's just able to have a hard on every second. One minute he's so weak he can't even hold a glass and the next his using his fingers to make her roll around all crazy like. I need some consistency.
Alice saying that Charlie looks like Christian Slater. What? What 16 year old even knows who Christian Slater is? Dude hasn't been relevant for like 15 years
Is Charlie 16 or 17? Book can't make up its mind.
I love how there is a moment where Charlie's mother talks about a time she went to the classroom of her teenage son to correct the teacher for his behavior of Charlie. As a teenager that would be so embarrassing to have your mother there in front of your whole class yelling at your teacher for making your son upset, but Charlie just smiles as she talks about it. Yeah, right!
It drove me up the way Charlie kept calling Alice Ninja just because she was dressed in black. I feel like this was totally prejudice just because she's Chinese and dresses in black she's a ninja. Rubbed me the wrong way. Oh and she counts dragons not sheep because get it she's Chinese! So funny! 😒
This book is the most RIDICULOUS book ever! One minute she’s a woman that couldn’t even tell her own husband that she wanted sex, couldn’t touch herself, or even kiss him that much. Now she’s sitting here telling her teenage son how to get around the rule of no sex before marriage. This is a huge leap. It’s beaten over your head how Christian they are and now they are finding work around for the rule. Not only that but what teenage boy is going to approach his mother to ask for sexual suggestions??? It’s so gross. Some wonderful gems the mother tells her son; "Ohhhh honey, it’s such a huge compliment when you see somebody loves you more than they can control! That is the greatest gift you can ever give a girl,” she assured sincerely."
“Well it’s not technically rape, if you’re engaged to be married, now is it?” Charlie’s eyes popped. “You raped him?” “Pfffffft!” she gave a messy wag of her hand. “That man is grown, and nothing happened that he didn’t let happen. I’m just a tiny thing,” she reminded him, at the sudden worry on his face."
“It was a historic operation, the first one of its kind,” the doctor informed". Ummmm everyone said this had been done tons of times. So is it the first one or one of many??
Some of the lines in this book are disgusting. Why is this what you would compare it too? "She was a two-year-old, and his cock was the fun, terrifying thing popping out of a jack-n-the-box, holding her spellbound".
All the ellipses make me want...to scream. I just don't...understand why there were so many of them. I wanted...them to stop...but they never did.
How can Cheryl even have a vagina left at this point?? Her clit has got to be dead. They hit it so much and she just keeps on going the next time he wants it.
The whole thing with Alice's parents makes no sense. They just uproot their whole lives for Alice to be able to be with Charlie. I'm confused on why they approved of Charlie for their only daughter and not even a Chinese man either. He has no social standing at all. Then they move their business to America where it's not even legal and its all so normal.
The ending made me laugh out loud! Ben's head was a rapist and killer that worked with another man. They are going to go find him and take him down so he doesn't murder anyone else. But now Cheryl is this dominatrix this telling him what to do and apparently they are sadists into Bdsm.
Final Thoughts: I hated this book. I read somewhere that this book was supposed to be a gory horror book but it's not. It's sex and sex and sex and this terrible married couple that makes me want to vomit.
Ways I think the ending could have been better: *Ben is now a robot. Dr. Wong's family are all robots. Cheryl finds out that Ben is one and decides to live with it because she loves him so much.
*Ben gets so obsessed with sex that he can't stop and he drives Cheryl insane because at first she loves it and now he won't stop.
This was an interesting book. The plot was dark and thrilling. The execution was somewhat dull.
The married couple in this book are middle aged. They also have a sixteen year old son, who also is the main character. So the husband has a brain disease which is incurable. Wife finds a rare treatment on the internet. It’s a whole head transplant. His whole head will be transplanted with someone else’s head. It’s the first time such surgery will take place. It was risky but the wife is quite adamant. She loves him and so she persuades him for the surgery.
The book ends with a cliffhanger. As I said the plot was very interesting. I might read the next book.
i received the ARC of this book and with no spoilers... i loved this book Lucian Bane does not disappoint and has an amazing way of weaving an intriguing and interesting book. I could hardly put this book down. I wanted to find out what would happen next. My heart was breaking and beating hard the whole read. but dang it is a cliffhanger LOL i love how the faith in God and the illegal and experimental procedures and real life are combine seamlessly. highly recommend can can't wait for the second book.
Sounds like an interesting read I've just pre-ordered!
Update:
"To be what he needed her to be. To love him as he was."
WOW!
To be honest I did not know what a story based around a head transplant would be like, it made me a bit squeemish and wondering if the new head might accidently drop off. But I was so wrong, amazing the tension and anticipation leading to the new lease of life for the main character and wow the things that start to happen, I'm hooked, I want to know so much more, it is a hot round the collar pass me the fan to cool me read but it has a gripping twisting story line and I have questions so many questions about all the characters I'm already wanting the next book!!!
RECEIVED ARC FOR REVIEW This book will put you on a roller coaster ride you will not want to get off of. This story is about a husband having a terminal brain illness and will do what ever it takes form him not to die. I can tell you once you start reading this you will not want to put the book down. I can nor wait till book two to find out what happens. Will you do the unthinkable for your Family?
I expected some sort of weird romance novel (I am getting a little bored of the standard romance formula). But boy, I did not know what I was taken on here. This book got dark! There is definitely a love story but it is far removed from my usual Disney-mindset.
I kind of stumbled over this book so I knew nothing before I started reading. I only saw the good ratings, that there was no up-voted negative rating (which I find is a mostly reliable clue about the quality of a book) and that Lucian Bane, seems to be a well-liked author. I have to say, the book is definitely well written, gripping, and with realistic (in-world-logic) characters. Which isn’t as common a trade as I’d hoped. I like to just start reading and either finish the book or I don’t (only possible thanks to the unlimited option). Surprisingly, I don't even mind the head transplant concept, though the reality of it is freaking me out a little. I still remember reading about this Russian guy a while back who volunteered for the world's first body transplant - I don’t think they’d done it though -, which must have been the inspiration for this book. The crucial difference between a head and a body transplant triggered an hour-long discussion with my partner and reminded me of my philosophy classes back in school "If memories are copied from one to the other... and are you still yourself?" So far, this series is not really exploring the philosophical aspect and stays more in the science fiction/suspense/horror realm but I am ok with that, too. The only thing that I am not really on board with is the constant religious talks and references. Though, I shouldn't be surprised since this book is quite dirty and so far the filthiest minds I ever met were always quite religious...
I would even go so far and call me intrigued! I will definitely read on and see where Bane is going with this but without reading anything more about the books (I hate spoilers). I just hope it doesn't get so dark that I can't read on. I am already borderlineing with the BDSM stuff. I guess as long as there is consent, I am ok with it. I will see how much I can stomach but maybe I’ll have to overthink my choices in life.
Okay. First of all this is a fantastic read. I want that known but holy steak sauce! Dark. Intense. Freaky. Horror . Disturbing. Just generally Wow! I cannot describe how dark and disturbing this story is. Allow me to reiterate, a Christian couple married for many years find out the husband has a rare brain and skull eating disease. Regrets and a lot of other emotions jump in and an alternative, creepy, unethical scientific anomaly presents itself. The family try it having no other hope. However the new head reveals itself as disturbed, psychotic, sadistic and a killer. Talk about going from bad to worse! So Ben battles these visions and nightmares while his wife Cheryl and son Charlie help him cope and battle these demons. What effort will you commit to save the one you love even if murder was involved? I don't like horror but I do like psychological thrillers with even crime solving involved. The Good Husband has all of the factors along with being very dark. Get into the mind of a serial killer. We get familiar with each family member as we read and empathizing with each character makes this story difficult to put down. We have to know more! Written by a very talented author, Lucian Bane does not disappoint regardless on what topic he writes.
An unusual and darkly romantic offering for this time of year. I've been a long time fan of Lucian Bane since I first read "Mercy" years ago. But I think my favorite series was "Bones," that's kind of hands down the best in my personal opinion. Although this book is so strangely premised that there was no way I could not read it. HOLD onto you Kindles ladies, things are about to get very weird and so hot... That's the thing I love about this author, the wicked scenes are just so perfectly dirty. My filthy mind soaks them up like a sponge and I never get enough. I don't want to spoil the plot for those who want to read, but it will blow your mind. For those of you who enjoy the dark side of romance and also those who enjoy some relative horror with your romance. Look no further! Recommend!!!

Damn Lucian Bane for taking me on another ride into the dark recesses of my mind and sex! This book is not for the faint of heart..*spoilers** a wife is left unfulfilled sexually but ends up regretting everything when she find out her husband may die without some divine intervention. A God fearing family is turned upside down with the arrival of a new head. Now wife is taking into a dark sexual world with a husband who loves dirty things and getting very dirty both physically, mentally and sexually. Did I mention their 16 year old son is on a wild rollercoaster of finding what he likes sexually....all this why praying to God to find out whose head has been doing some mass killing!!! So ready to read the next book

This book started dark, sad, and yet still captivating. I wanted to know how the couple will survive, if they'll put through as a family! I can't wait to read the next sets. On a high note, this was a page turner, well written, captivating, both characters seems relatable in my opinion, and very emotional. The not so good side is the fact that I have to get the remainder of the book because I must know what happened in the end.

This book was unexpected. The characters were well dveloped. As each character is introduced there is a look into that characters thought process so the book is not told from one characters point of view. The story line was amazing. I wasn't expecting it to go the way it did but I was pleasantly surprised. It was intriguing and unpredictable. I loved the mix of religion and science and I cannot wait to read the next book.

THE GOOD HUSBAND (The Husband #1) By Lucian Bane Wow! This book sure gives you something to think about! It’s dark, intriguing, suspenseful, dramatic, bizarre, intense and more. I am new to the world of Lucian Bane, but I intend to stay in his captivating world. I do not like to give too much away in a review, but you should read this! What a well written solid story! After that cliffhanger, I am definitely anxious to be reading the next book. This is a 5 star read.

A BIG FAT NO FOR THIS! It's horror and I thought I could stomach it because of the romance part but noooooo. Never. I'm scared of my own shadow so how the fuck do you expect me to be able to read all this shit going on? This is a very good book, don't get me wrong. Had I been a little bit less of a scared kitty Kat I swear I would never leave this book hanging like I did. But I'm sorry to say that I need to sleep with the lights of if I want to sleep really good and if I finish this book, I won't be able to will I now? A FAIR WARNING ⚠️ READ IT IF YOU DARE..!
Lucian Bane never disappoints and never ceases to engage, enthrall and amaze me with his imaginative creativity. He pulls you in with his loveable, quirky, messed-up characters. His ability to take you on a journey that will always make you love, laugh, cry, fan yourself, writhe and wriggle, grab you by the throat and bend your mind is, to me, unparalleled. I never give summaries of the books I review. I think it's more fun to go in blind. I will tell you what's good and maybe not so good...this one delivers on everything a good story needs! Just get it and hold on to your...well, hold onto something!!! Note: It's a well-known fact that Lucian Bane rarely puts out a book without a GD cliffhanger! I hate cliffhangers!! It's like a hostage situation, or...or...literary edging!!! I usually don't read a book if I know it involves me dangling from the edge. I can't quit Bane books though! There isn't even a choice! So, now here I sit, thinking I should have withheld this review until I get my literary release...the end of the damned story!! Instead, as always, I'm writing the review and waiting for installment number two, with bated breath.
OMG... This had me in the edge of my seat. I loved every stitch and every swish. I’m so glad that this is a book that is made for the “grown” folk. And the new dark and sexy scenes are so palpable, you can almost feel it against your own skin.
More, please.

The Good Husband is a definite page turner with a unique storyline and interesting characters. Ben and Cheryl's story pulled me and didn't let go until the last page. I have no idea where Lucian Bane comes up with these captivating stories but I hope he never stops. This steamy thriller is a great start to a new series and after that cliffhanger, I need book two now. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
A dark, thrilling and interestingly different psychological plot.
A loving husband undergoes a unique and radical type of lifesaving surgery and upon his recovery he vows to make amends with his wife to sort out their sexual issues. However problems arise accompanying his recovery, turning into disturbing, psychotic sexual tendencies.
A perfect erotic psychological thriller which ends on a cliff hanger.
I have never read this author, but I will now one-click everything I can find! This was a page-turner from the first page. Emotional, sensual. deep. dark and addictive. The characters are so well written and perfectly flawed. This book is not for the faint of heart.,

The story evolved from a heartbreaking and scary chance for one of the main characters to a dark, deviant relationship between him and his wife. I wasn’t totally expecting the depth of his new found desire though it was captivating to read. The author was able to bring about a believable and intriguing change to his character though it was shocking. Great story.
The Good Husband is an original and unique book of a husband (Ben) who is facing an incurable neurological disease and seeks out an experimental surgery when he finds his Idealistic and perfect marriage never existed. This book has great writing and a plot you won’t soon forget.

Holy freaking crap - my mind is blown!!! I have to say at the start of this book I was not sure with this one - it was not was what I have come to expect from the wondrously twisted mind of Lucian Bane. I think that is why it took me a little longer to get through it. With everything going on and all the characters involved I felt a bit confused. But damn once it all came to a head - pun intended - what an explosion of my emotions for sure!!! The interactions with Ben and Cheryl were pretty intense from the beginning, from the space they let get between them, to them relearning each other and then hot damn the spiciness of the sex after the surgery. But even with that I knew there still had to be something, something that was going to flip this book upside down. Once again Bane does it - totally throws me for a loop. This is what I was waiting for the complete awe of how this took a turn. I think I sat in my seat for a good 30 seconds with my jaw wide open in complete awe of this little twist. This is what I have come to love about Bane’s books – even though you expect it you are still left thinking holy crap did I just read that? Wait what just happened? Did not see that coming!! I absolutely love getting that giddy feeling from a book and this once certainly did it!!!
I even enjoyed the connection Charlie and Alice shared. Oh, young love, and Charlie, oh my goodness such a sweetheart, staying strong in his faith, loved it. But for some reason I have a feeling there is something about Alice that is going to kick me in my stomach in the next book. I can’t put my finger on it, but I think there is going to be something, and I am so excited and nervous all that the same time as I impatiently wait for the next one!!
One breathtaking Story Reading this Story left me breathless. Cheryl and Ben a religious couple whose only choice would be an illegal operation to safe Ben's life. What will they do, how will it affect their marriage, there personality. I couldn't put this Book down I HAD to KNOW IT !!!! To me , the Author wrote an absolutely amazing Story. It was an roller coaster of emotions. Especial the Characters how they interact and the dialogue between them, made them so real. Lucian Bane proved once more what an amazing fantastic writer he is.
I never know which way things will go while reading an Author Bane book..his muses are definitely unparalleled to so many other authors out there. His imagination is twisted, sadistic and oh so good..and those hot scenes!? Whew!
WOW! What initially started off as a “I’m not sure about this...” read for me, it totally turned into a “I can’t put this book down!” This is my first read of Lucian Bane and it has so many twists and turns! I absolutely loved every bit of it! Can’t wait to read book 2!!
This story had my heart pumping. There is so much more to find out. I think there are layers upon layers. Couldn't put it down and can't wait to start the next book.
Lucian Bane always gets your blood running. His stories are always interesting and exciting. Tame husband to freaking wild. The good husband just got hot!
