I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Pegaz you amazing b______ (insert explictative as I want the review posted 😜). After a much awaited release you kept me on tender hooks for the entire book. Literally couldn’t put it down till I figured out what happened next and you leave it on a such a suspenseful cliffhanger!
This was a great continuation of the story, and it seems like it completes an 'arc', then sets up for the next. The cliffhanger was a bit tropy, but it's fine. I'll certainly read the next one.
I really love this series every time another one is released I start and finish it the same day. The plot and characters are really enjoyable and you never quite know what's going to happen, highly recommended. Can't wait for the next one.
Forth book in and I still like it, and if you've read to hear chances are that you do to. Can't wait for the fifth installment just wish they could come faster no matter how unrealistic that may be
Wow! There was a whole lot to like in book 4. For a seriously OP character, I was surprised with the assortment of interesting challenges in this book. The MC is a vicious killer that's strangely charming. I had a blast reading it.
This is a unique system of litrpg & cultivation, using an "idle" system like phone games, etc. It is litrpg because the Main Character sees a screen which displays stats/ranks/levels, skills, etc. It is cultivation because of the way the system is setup, and the use of beast cores, etc.
Book 1: This is a great introduction into the series. The book is not as masterpiece of literature, but it is very entertaining and worth my time. My thoughts are that the MC is too OP(overpowered), too quickly, and it moved extremely fast. I assumed he wrote himself into a corner, and book 2 couldn't possibly be interesting, yet I was wrong.
Book 2: This book dramatically expands the scope of how strong the MC is. He may be strong, but that is nothing compared to others around him. This book goes a long way towards showing that he is very strong, but not unbeatable.
Book 3: The MC is OP again, taking on people far above his power level.
Book 4: So OP its not even funny. It is even funnier because the author swears up and down that the MC isn't OP. I mean, he is so OP he , yet according to the author, "he was only able to do it because of a special set of circumstances and abilities." Yes, the ability of being overpowered. lol
Book 5: I didn't think I would like this book since it is told from Sarah's Point of View, not the MC. However, I got into it very quickly. While I still prefer reading through the MC's PoV, this might be my favorite book of the series and
Overall,
This series is great and definitely worth reading. Unfortunately, it is held back by editing and a real lack of struggle from the MC. At this point, I am mostly reading it to see how ridiculous the MC can become.
I personally didn't like this book or the last, enough to make me stop reading the series. While the first two were fun and you felt growth and how he was becoming OP, over powered, these ones devolve into ridiculous romance.
The Main character goes from smart and fun to a love sick 14 year old puppy. Literally saying romantic lines you'd expect from a 13 year old. His wife is so beautiful that people would go to war if they saw her true face? R...really?
How they known eachother for a few months , 'years' with meditation but really time together a few months and now decide they are companions forever!
The main character starts to sound more and more whiny and childish as each book goes on and his love for Sarah makes him start acting like a spoiled brat who thinks his woman is the best thing in the universe and all other men must want her so bad that he must kill anyone who would consider that!
Personally it's a no go for me, but maybe someone who like YA romance might like it.
Okay, it's interesting to take the hero and transform him into a villain. But... the complete moral blindness exhibited makes the reader reevaluate whether he was ever a hero.
His approach of tossing the baby out with the bathwater is understandable as a passionate act while mad with anger. What is harder to understand is the complete lack of remorse after John cools down and realizes he has killed millions of innocents, children included. And then his wife wakes up and takes a hot minute to be okay with everything that he did. What?
I know that the protagonist's morality is no reflection of the author's. But when none of a book's characters show any moral awareness, you have to wonder.
I really enjoy how he protagonist goes around slapping the faces of people who opposes him.
This series was super confusing at the start, as the "idlers" made no sense, but now it's just background noise that allows our protagonist to get ahead.
I'm not sure how I feel about the next book solely being about someone else who doesn't even share the same thought process as the protagonist... I hope this isn't a way for the author to have multiple POVs later in the series. The Single POV is enjoyable so far.
I will probably read the next book, the author hasn't disappointed me so far, so he will probably make the wife's POV work.
John will do anything to return his wife from the coma induced by the lightning user that put her there. He would go so far as to kill a planet and more. He craves the power that sins produce and will everything to get it, no matter where it takes him. All that matters in getting Sarah back!
This was an insane story of the limits one will goto to save his love. Just Wow!
After Sarah went down, the book became boring and bland. When the MC went on his villain rant I realized he was right and he was a horrible villain and character. Not for moral reasons but because he has no life, no flavor, nothing that makes him interesting to read about.
I just can't with this series. Just when I think it is going to turn out one way the author does a 90 degree turn and throws me for a loop like what! I love this series. The first book took me a minute to get into but phew! After that I am hooked. Keep up the great work man!
This series had been suggested to me by amazon over and over again. I tried reading it about a year ago and just did not get into the first book after a little reading. I have tried again and this time i got hooked. I would say sometimes i get a little lost at points because i do not understand something in the system, but i would say the author does a fairly good job in each book explaining the system ans system changes. I really enjoyed this book and how the author introduces new skills and elements into each book keeping each ome interesting.
I was thoroughly enthralled in the story from start to finish and cannot wait for the next book, this book took some twists and turns that I did not see coming and I’m all the happier for it.
Now the main character is messing in lives on a planetary wide effect. A lot more of the same system building, and maneuvering. A lot of questions about the person in the jail with no answers, and a huge cliff hanger at the end, but otherwise I enjoyed the ride.
Great entry and pacing. Loved the development of John and his reaction to Sarah’s status. But seriously I need the next book, that cliffhanger is...you know.
