When Mat’s away, Bryce can play.
---
Bryce woke up in an empty bed, but he won’t be alone for long.

His husband’s away on a business trip, and he has permission to spend the whole week playing around.

On the day his husband leaves, Bryce reconnects with Theo, an old friend and former mentor. As a sculptor, Theo is fascinated by the human body. Especially Bryce’s.

Bryce loves Theo’s gentle soul, his strong hands, and his big dick. He loves how sexy he feels when Theo looks at him.

Join them for an evening of friendship, playful touching, and affectionate-but-vigorous sex.

“On Display” is the first story in the BRYCE CAN PLAY series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone. It’s perfect for lovers of older/younger pairings, nudity and exhibitionism, delayed gratification, teasing, toys, anal play, and bareback sex. 6000 words.
---
BRYCE CAN PLAY is a series of gay erotic shorts. Each story chronicles the adventures of Bryce, a sexy submissive slut in a non-monogamous marriage. Bryce has permission to play around while his husband’s out of town, so he’s cramming his week as full of sexual adventures as he can. With a little luck and a lot of can-do spirit, he’s going to make his husband proud while also earning a rigorous punishment.

These stories are for ADULTS who enjoy explicit depictions of gay sexual encounters. Some episodes are kinkier than others, but each explores the idea of power exchange and giving and taking control.

Having lived in Miami, Chicago, and NYC, Travis eventually ended up twenty minutes from where he was born, in Nowhere, Virginia, where the days are quiet and the stars are bright. He shares a big old farmhouse with his unbelievably supportive husband, a terrorist cat, and the world’s most neurotic dog.

He's nerdy about lots of things, including but not limited to classical rhetoric, the lives of the saints, Egyptian mythology, Shakespeare, contemporary fantasy, and the Muppets. Nevertheless, he is fun at parties.

He likes rainy days, long drives, and cuddling. He drinks more coffee than he ought.

Though it sometimes contains more plot and character development than is strictly necessary, he gets off on writing filthy gay erotica, usually with a light-to-moderate D/s edge.

He's active on Twitter (@beaudoin_travis) and checks Goodreads when he remembers to. Say hi if you're so inclined.

3*** stars
for the whole series, 8 short, sexy stories.

B.—
You looked too beautiful to wake. I miss you already. Be good while I’m gone. Make me proud.
—M.

Bryce and Mateo have been together for six years. And whenever Mat is on a business trip Bryce is free to play with other men. (On his trips Mat does the same, btw). Now, Mat is gone for a whole week and Bryce has some well known and unknown guys lined up for him for a good time.

Every short begins with an introduction on how Bryce met the guy(s) he’s playing with that day and I found them all pretty entertaining. I loved that in every short we also get a small glimpse of Mat, too. I was looking forward to meeting him in the last book right from the beginning.

***********

3.5*** for #1 Theo: twenty years older, artist, the gentle giant, sex with toys, knowing/fucking each other for eight years.

I nevertheless felt protected by him, strong because he was strong, wild because he could handle me. I was beautiful because of the way he stared at me.

------

2.5** for #2 Cort: a bottom like Bryce, they are best friends and fooled around since college, they meet up for threesomes with Cort’s partner Alec. No anal, only playing, but with happy end.

“Mind if I whack off?”

After the flashback to their time in college I expected to love this short. But in the end I didn’t. That Bryce and Alec weren’t friends at all made me pretty uncomfortable and I couldn’t enjoy their encounter at all.

------

3*** for #3 Carey: He is in an open marriage with his wife (so he’s bi?), he’s super shy and uncertain and seem to struggle a lot with his gay needs, Bryce feels like a secret Hooker with him, and only Carey brings out the top in him. A bossy, dominant top.

He needed me—or at least needed this experience—as bad as a person could need something, and I loved giving it to him.

------

2.5** for #4 Skye: tatted lead singer of a seedy, loud band who’s music no one seemed to really like, he smokes weed and drinks beer while(!!) they were hooking up. not very nice push and pull between him and Bryce, but Bryce likes to feel like a dirty slut with him.

I love getting fucked in cheap motels. Some guy railing me on a lumpy mattress with late-afternoon sunlight peeking through vinyl curtains? Nothing makes me feel sluttier.

------

3.5*** #5 Julián: Bryces’s former student, the meet up in the city in an empty class room, light kinky role play, good friends.

“I’m not going to fuck a student, Mateo.”
“He’ll graduate someday.”

We’d known each other for the better part of six years, and the first time we’d fucked had been within seventy-two hours of his graduation.

------

3*** #6 Unknown: a walk down memory lane to the sex club where he first met Mat, gang bang with strangers in the dark

The anonymous, kinky gang bang was not my thing actually but I loved the inside story on how Bryce met Mat there when he first visited this "bathing house“.

------

3*** #7 Jack: a flat tire leads to roadside assistance leads to a quick fuck against Bryce’s own car. Didn’t like how Bryce always seems to want to ditch the condoms bc he’s on PREP.

------

3*** #8 Mat: the husband. the image of Bryce fucking other men gets him jealous and horny, than they play: BDSM, confessions, guilt, correction, belittling, breath-play, a slut-strap - all that for fake redemption, I guess.

He kissed my eyebrows and my forehead. Then he brushed my ear and whispered, “I’m back. I’m back, and you are mine.”

Don’t know why, but I expected smth totally different from when Mat gets back. And it was hard to rate if it was good or not as I am not very keen on reading BDSM play.

***********

All in all I’m not sure what to make of this series. I’m disappointed, tbh. Maybe mostly because most of the encounters felt emotionless - as is evident in my ratings. Where there is a higher rating there was a connection and affection involved. But nevertheless, somehow I was curious about all the guys and their hookups with Bryce. It was kinda fascinating.

Each of the stories stands on its own so you can choose to read only parts of the series and in every order you like.

If you are looking for some short, very well-written gay erotica with mature characters, this is it. Like literary erotic fiction.

My goodness, this author can write. I've been wanting to read these short stories since finishing Too Like the Lightning and this weekend seemed as good a time as any. I knew these were classified as erotic shorts and that the sex Bryce had while his husband, Mateo, was out of town would be front and center. What I didn't expect was the incredible quality of the storytelling. I've read full length novels with less character development. This VERY SHORT story was not only hot, but also interesting. Theo was such a sweetheart and I loved how he asked Bryce to thank Mat for sharing him. I can't wait to see what Tuesday brings.

Well, this was really short! But it's the first in a series of short story's that involve Bryce, who plays around when his husband Mat is out of town for work. They are not in a monogamous relationship and it pleases Mat to hear Bryce's sexy story's when he gets home again. And Bryce really wants to make Mat happy, so he makes sure there are some sexy story's to tell!
In this short one he goes to visit Theo, an old friend and his former mentor. They share a sweet love for each other, and they regularly find each other for a night in bed.
Their story was hot, but there was a sweetness to it as well. The scenes are really descriptive, and the writing is great. Even for such a short story, it pulled me in and engaged me and now I really want to read the next book in this series!
This was my first read by this author, but it was a pleasant one and I'm looking forward to read more.

Bryce and Matt are very happy in their open marriage, and there’s nothing that turns Matt on more than hearing about his husband’s sexual exploits when he returns home from being away on business. And nothing makes Bryce happier than pleasing Matt. In Part 1 of a series of short stories, we are treated to the first of Bryce’s week-long sexual adventure, where he hooks up with a regular ex lover, Theo. These two love each other, and it’s always a joy to both of them when they can get together whenever Matt is away on business.
Bryce enters enthusiastically into his first adventure with an overnighter at Theo’s. They have a comfortable routine and know how to please each other. What follows is really a description of what is a tender coupling of two highly likeable mc’s. Is it erotic? Yes. Is it sexy? Most definitely. But unlike some hard-core erotic stories, this one is also not only tender and loving, but sets the tone for the rest of an ongoing episodic series. Travis Beaudoin’s plot device and masterly prose, which also has the added bonus of a perfect writing style, becomes a beautiful reading experience for the reader of good erotica. For me, it soon became apparent that the author writes the crème de la crème of erotic fiction.
I’m excited to read the rest of the series to see how Bryce achieves gathering together the experiences with which he will gift his husband when Matt returns home. Bravo, Travis on your debut story.

This is a set of 8 related erotic short stories; I would almost call them erotic character studies. I read them in quick succession, and I'm going to rate all of them at 4 stars and just put this review on the first one.

The overarching framework is that while Bryce's husband Mateo is away, Bryce has free rein to indulge himself sexually with other men. There are seven stories of his adventures, plus an eighth detailing their reunion on Mateo's return. The first several adventures are with men who Bryce knows; then there are two anonymous encounters, and finally his reconnection with his husband.
Most of the stories start with a flashback to how he got to know the person or people and then progress into a present-time sexual encounter. The sex is different with each partner or group in ways that are suitable to who the person is and how they fit in Bryce's life. They run the gamut from sweet through filthy (not me judging; Bryce loves to feel like a filthy slut). I found the variety of people and the relationship stories realistic and relatable; I could easily imagine a gay friend telling me one of these backgrounds as a story from his own life. The sexual vignettes are realistic, detailed, and hot. Some are pretty kinky, some much less so, but they all have the same sense of yes, that could be actual life.

I appreciate his general cautions about bdsm safety and especially his strong cautions about breath play.

Very much recommended.

The first book in a series always sets the stage for the rest. All I can say is that I cannot wait for more!

Bryce and Mat have a loving marriage, but with a bonus. When Mat is away, Bryce is allowed to play, but will pay upon his husband's return.

This is the first encounter of the week, and it's with Theo. The pure sensuality that was described in the way Theo looked at Bryce was enticing. Bryce knew how to push his buttons and how much pressure to give each one.

This story was more than just a hot one-nighter. This was two men, losing themselves in each other's familiar bodies, giving and taking, steamy and safe.

Travis Beaudoin has a way with words. While the story is erotic, the language is soft and loving, more of a caress to the heart. Oh, did I mention steamy? There was plenty of steam to last until the next book, which I can't wait to read!

I was after a short story to get back to reading as I haven't touched a book for some days now and this was great!!... The whole idea of these shorts was something I've never read about so I wanted to see where it would go and Im super pleasantly surprised!

This first story managed to be super super short but still emotional and loving at the same time, Theo was super sweet and their connexion was palpable... Really looking forward to the next days in Bryce's adventure!

Hot and sweet

Bryce is playing while his husband is away and this encounter was so sweet! Nothing like a cinnamon roll bear of a man with a big… well you get the picture. Their scene is hot af and I loved every tender, teasing moment of it.

Now that I’ve seen sweet, I’m curious what will be next.

“On Display” is perfectly balanced smut, especially as it’s a series opener. We’ve got a large helping of human sweetness seasoned with a just-right dash of kinky spice. It’s erotica in three dimensions. Sadly, that’s a rarity. Whether you’re just here for the good time or you’re a bit more of an egghead (like myself), there’s plenty to like here. Travis Beaudoin knows how to write sex. Even more importantly (told you: egghead), he knows how to write people.

I loved the use of first-person. The adventure is relayed by Bryce himself. It works wonderfully because Bryce is a lovely hang. He feels like a friend. And boy do I relish hearing about my friends’ naughty exploits! I’m glad to know there’s more coming. Something tells me that kinky spice I mentioned is going to be kicked up a notch or two in future installments. I’ll enthusiastically have a taste.

On Display is the first book from the ongoing series called Bryce Can Play. The series is about Bryce and his husband Mat. The two guys have an open marriage where Bryce is not just free to hook up with other men but actually being encouraged to do so by his husband. Mat has a job that requires him to travel all the time. This creates a big opportunity for Bryce to sleep with other men and for Mat to get off on those hookups when Bryce tells him all about them after his return. The main theme of the series is very erotic and the couple sounds like they are enjoying this arrangement. I think each book is the story of Bryce playing with a particular man. On Display is the story of Bryce having some great times with Theo, a sexy man in his mid-fifties that he has slept with many times before. The story is narrated from Bryce's perspective.

I am a man who loves hardcore, aggressive, and raunchy action scenes between men, but I also love it a lot when the play is erotic, tender, and passionate. I appreciate the tenderness even if it was happening in a one night stand or anonymous sex between strangers. In this story the sense of familiarity and chemistry between Bryce and Theo was very intense, they loved each other. It is not the regular kind of love but a special one that shows whenever they are together in bed, there was a sense of trust and safety between them. On the other hand, the degree of understanding and acceptance between Bryce and Mat was admirable even though we don't meet Mat as a character, we just know about him from Bryce's narration. I enjoyed the balance that Travis Beaudoin kept in the story when it came to the smutty scenes and his characters which were fleshed out and like real people. This was an enjoyable and a great start for the series. I shall read the second book soon. Loved it.

"On Display" is a delight. Go. Read. Enjoy.

Here's why:

I love reading erotica. Wait, scratch that, let's start again. I love reading character-driven erotica with a plot. For me, there needs to be a strong sense of connection between the characters, whether the eroticism takes place within the bounds of a single encounter or a long term relationship. Being a queer, non-binary author myself, LGTBQIA+ representation from LGBTQIA+ authors is essential. Consent needs to be explicit for me to enjoy a piece. And I'm most attracted to writing that includes the realities of sex, the laughter, and silliness, the beauty of being human, with a human body that needs attention and care.

In "On Display," Beaudoin brings all of the above to bear in a gorgeous, and emotionally honest story. The main character, Bryce, is believable and sweet, without being saccharine. He's a relatable character. The relationship between him and his husband, Mateo (who we don't meet in this first installment of the "Bryce Can Play" series), is squee-worthy. It's so refreshing to see a healthy, ethical non-monogamous relationship represented in a positive context.

The friendship between Theo and Bryce was romantic, caring, and searingly hot. Beaudoin normalized discussions of safer sex and PreP (pre-exposure prophylactic HIV medication), which had me cheering, much to my honey's chagrin. What? So, it might have been a little late to shout, "Go, Travis!"

The sex was spectacular. There was just the right combination of real connection between the characters and the physical description of the encounter.

I can't recommend "On Display" enough. Like I said earlier, go, read, and thank me later.

This is the first short story in the Bryce Can Play series, about married couple Bryce and Mateo. They have an arrangement whereby they are each allowed to play around whenever Mat is out of town on business, which happens a few times a year. This story starts on a Monday just as Mat leaves for a week long business trip, and Bryce has seven days of fun planned.

Monday’s bit of fun is a man named Theo – a long-time friend of Bryce’s. I really loved how the author managed to fit so much into the story in only 30 pages. He skilfully weaves together the past and the present as he introduces both Bryce and Theo to the reader, allowing us to see the history between them while also demonstrating the affection that the two men hold for one another.

The night between Theo and Bryce is slow-paced, with the anticipation and the heat building from the very moment that Bryce arrives at Theo’s home. The effect of which being that both men, as well as the reader, is taken on a journey of delicious need that builds more and more with each moment. And, something I do need to say is that the way Theo looks at Bryce continuously, worshipping him with his eyes, added something so special and so hot to their time together. Everybody needs a Theo in their lives.

And once the teasing stops and the action begins, the author manages to craft a scene that is almost poetic in its beauty while also being really quite dirty. And I loved every moment of it! This is a story so packed full of emotion that it will leave you breathless in the very best of ways. A perfect start to the series.

Bryce has a unique relationship with husband. When Mat goes out of town, Bryce has permission to have sex with other men. He then tells Mat his exploits when they are together again.

This is the first of an upcoming series of stories. It’s is a short story about 20 minutes to read. It isn’t raunchy, but sweet and seductive. We follow Bryce on his first encounter he plans on having. I have only recently discovered this author. So far I’m enjoying what he putting out there.

Wow!

I’d never even heard of this before an author posted in their group about it, but holy moly, it’s amazing. The writing is descriptive and really puts you in the scene. The editing is top-notch. So yeah, it’s a quick steamy short, but it’s a quality one, and I will definitely be reading everything else this author does if it maintains this level of excellence.

Giving a full review for erotica might be daunting to some, but I revel in it. So when the author sent me the first three short stories of Bryce Can Play, I was delighted.

I love the arrangement Mat and Bryce have. Bryce is sleeping with other men FOR his husband and is even thinking about him as he does so. But beyond that, Bryce's relationship with Theo is adorable. They love without being in love and enjoy each other without possession. It's sweet.

Although, as someone that has rest most hetero or wlw erotica, can I just say how unprepared I was for all the mentions about precum?

Still 100% recommend for all your horny needs.

Travis Beaudoin redefined my definition of "erotica" with this short.

The story is an engaging one, with beautiful descriptions, and the perfect flow to it. It captives the reader's attention from the very beginning as it sets the foundation that'll support all of the other shorts in this serie.

Bryce is a wonderful main character. He is relatable, sensible, and let's be honest... fucking hot. He's in a loving relationship with his husband, Mat. Despite finding fulfillment in each other, Bryce likes to play while Mat is out of town which, contrary to what one might think, only serves to spark a flame in between them.

The scenes are wonderfully etched. The descriptions are beautiful, concise yet vivid. And the characters who come to play with Bryce are just as loveable as Bryce himself.

The story is written in the 1st person POV, and I've always struggled to enjoy that perspective. If you agree with me on this, I urge you to give this story a chance. It hasn't disappointed me and I know that it won't disappoint you.

With all of that said, Bryce Can Play is a wonderful series. The first part of it reads just as well on its own! Still, On Display leaves the reader with a promise of something greater, something more, something sexier. If you ask me, I say let's leave Bryce to play and tell us his story.

I, for one, can't wait to read it as it unfolds.

How and why haven't I found this author/series sooner? My mind is blown away.

It was everything I love and need. Perfectly written erotica with BDSM elements and so many emotions.

Loved the concept, every part is a different day in Bryce life while his husband is away for one week. We got to see different kinks, and Bryce in different situations, but one thing was the same in every book - the love between Bryce and Mat. I love a good love story behind my erotica, and this series was just perfect.

Sharing and having sex with different people day after day isn't for anyone, but I love it just good! I mean, reading... ;)

Monday, there was Theo, who is older, with the big dildo and the little touches. It was a good intro for this series and I couldn't wait to see Bryce this whole week and what is he up to.

“You ready to go inside?”
“If you’re ready to take me.”

Bryce works at Shenandoah State College as an English professor. He has been married to Mateo for six years, and they have been “open with rules” for five years.

Bryce met Theo, an art instructor, years ago at a university social event. The two men have remained friends (and FBs) ever since.

Theo is also a sculptor and a welder. Now in his mid-fifties, Theo has retired from teaching and works on his art full-time.

Theo enjoys watching Bryce, as Theo is both a student and teacher of the nude male form.

The action is mostly good with strong detail—though the dildo parts seem unnecessary.

It comes up often enough that it’s unclear if the author is trying to sell the idea of “ethical non-monogamy” on us…or on himself.

“Tell Mat thanks for letting me borrow you. I do love it when he’s away.”
“Me, too.”

This is a short book. So short, I may have devoured the entire thing while sitting in my physician's waiting room. (And when I say "may" I mean I totally did.)

But you won't hear me complaining.

"On Display" is short, sweet, and sexy as hell. On top of that, it's just really well written. I'm picky about books - I mean my "did not finish" pile would circle the earth twice - so when I say I enjoyed this one IMMENSELY, you can take that to the bank.

Maybe you're sitting in a boring waiting room right now. If so, may I suggest hitting that "buy it now" button?

You won't be disappointed!

This is the second erotic short story I have read by Travis Beaudoin and I’ve loved them both. The writing is intelligent and thoughtful, while the characters are believable and likeable. Although it’s a short story, things never feel rushed and there’s plenty of detail to get your teeth into as the sexual tension builds to a satisfying ending. I will be reading more by this author, starting with the next book in this series. x
