Stevie the unicorn's tail has lost all of its colors! Can Pete help out with his magic paint brush?
How to write a color picture book for that will be a hit with kids: 1) Use a popular character, 2) Throw in a unicorn, 3) Tie the colors to everyday items kids see. This has all those elements. Hand this to beginning readers learning their colors who love Pete and unicorns.
Cute short book I read to Julianna last night. She said she saw it in school prior but liked it. We love Pete the Cat. Usually funny/cute books. Book is good for 1st sight words; colors; and for any child who loves Pete the Cat and Unicorns. Lil short but perfect length for a short story before bed. Julianna loved the pictures too.
Hey, Goodreaders. You know what friends do. Friends help each other.
To an adult like me, this story takes a pretty bizarre turn. But to a kid? Well, why not?
Not to get ahead of myself though, first thing to know is that Kitty the cat is friends with Stevie the unicorn. Unfortunately, Stevie the unicorn -- a female in case you're wondering -- has somehow lost all the colors in her unicorn's rainbow tail.
Coincidentally or not, they have this friend Pete, another cat. How do the talking cat and unicorn meet? They play with together at the neighborhood playground. (Of course.) Anyway, Pete happens to have a magical paintbrush.
Hey again, Goodreaders. Do you think that Pete and his magical paintbrush will somehow, maybe, be able to figure out a way to help their pal the unicorn?
RATING THIS BOOK
Well, all that happens here is in good fun. Especially as a way to learn names of colors. FIVE STARS. (Maybe they're marigold in color?)
After reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, I picked up a pack of Pete the Cat readers at Costco for Lily. They are all cute, but none of them are quite as good as the first one.
Stevie the unicorn is missing the colors in his tail, so Pete uses a magic paintbrush to find them in the park and add them back to Stevie's tail. In return, Pete gets invited to the magic unicorn dance party. Super trippy, imaginative, and random story. Lily and I both loved it.
An inane story about Pete helping his friend Stevie get the colors in his tail back by using his magic paint brush to suck the colors from various items at the park. A very similar story to "How the Crayons Saved the Unicorn" by Monica Sweeney.
Used this book to help really start working on reading with my daughter and it's perfect! Repetative so she was able to read "Pete" "Stevie" "says" "tail" to me! The colors go a little out of order, which is good actually.
Early readers are so tricky, works of art they are usually not. There's a fine balance between repetition for early readers and just plain boring. 5 year old was interested and excited to read it, but as usual curious about more storyline.
Cute book about Pete helping out the unicorn find its colors again. Pete as a kitty is so flippin cute. Same vibes as the other Pete the Cat books only in this one Pete is a kitty and not a cat. This book is an early reader book and great for beginner readers.
I really like reading Easy Readers to my Littles because they have about the same amount of words as a large picture book but are much more portable and are also easier for her to get her little hands on. Pete is always a favorite <3
This beginning reader will catch the eye of youngsters who love unicorns, and it offers some repeating vocabulary words for them to encounter, but there's not much of a story here and it is definitely not on par with many of the other Pete books.
Far from the best Pete book but not horrible. The choice for purple - a cloud - was confusing for my children. I suggested it might be at sunset, but something more common for a young children probably would have been better.
Books that show kindness are always valuable and worthwhile. The world needs more kindness and the story helps kids to learn how to be kind and caring in a subtle manner.
This is the most inane children's story I've ever read, with the exception of Muma Blue's customized book trash. the illustrations in this are incredibly poor quality and the story line may actually make your child dumber for having read it.
My 2-year-old daughter went through a phase of asking for this one dozens of times. I like when magic randomly exists in Pete the Cat/Kitty's neighborhood. I've yet to see Stevie the Unicorn in a Pete the Cat book. Did he move away between "Kitty" and "Cat" age?
Review from my 6 year old: I love rainbow unicorns. I love how there were colors everywhere and Pete kept helping Stevie find his colors. I love it.🦄 I think that’s it.
Hooray, another unicorn book for my unicorn-loving patrons. I don't actually think this is an easy book for beginning readers though, despite it being a "pre-level one" level.
