~~~~~
When the Guardians of the Nine Realms awaken, erased are the days when they could call themselves invincible immortals. The very artefact the Guardians need to protect the future against the return of the mad Gods lies shattered, and the twins destined to wield it are missing.
However, amidst the chaos, vengeful Mage-Guardian Malandar Denarlin does not intend to lose another war and takes it upon himself to venture into the human realm to locate and protect the twins. But time is short. Enemies old and new stalk the lands.
Meanwhile, when Princess Iambre’s childhood friend and ‘life-shield’, Solancei, vanishes during a visit to an allied stronghold, Iambre is forced to acknowledge that Solancei’s disappearance could cost them both everything.
Entangled in a conspiracy, unsure whom to trust, Iambre will risk it all to save her friend. But will she be able? Alone and injured, Solancei must pit her wit against a dangerous foe in a deadly game of truth or dare. It’s a fight for survival, yet Iambre and Solancei’s trials are just beginning. Guardian Malandar is now riding to draw them into his perilous quest to save the Nine Realms and he will not take ‘no’ for an answer.
Yet two questions remain…
Will Malandar reach the two friends in time? Or will the Gods’ unearthly monsters snare them first?
The Gods are battling, and Princess Iambre is on a quest to save her friend. Everyone is desperate to do just one thing: survive. The question is, who will make it out of the war alive and who will be just another causality?
Such an epic quest. With six novels and over 1,000 pages in this beauty, there’s plenty of something for everyone. Romance, Adventure, Mystery, Intrigue, Suspense, Paranormal. It’s all in this collection. Not to mention fantasy.
With multiple storylines and beautiful landscapes, it’s easy to become immersed in this wonderful tale. Out of the two storylines, my favorite revolved around Princess Iambre and her quest to save her friend. There were so many raw emotions between the two of them that made reading about them extra special.
If you’re looking for a good read that will entertain you for some time, look no further. This collection should be on every epic fantasy reader’s “must read” list.
This is one of the best epic fantasies I've ever read. It is truly captivating from start to finish. So much so that I had read this when it was released in parts and as soon as I saw it released in a one book set I knew I was going to read it again. I'll be looking forward to reading i again when the story continues as well. It's telling how fast I devoured it when I didn't have to wait for the next part. Over 1000 pages in two days, and honestly had I not need sustenance and sleep, I'd have read it in one sitting.
It's told in multiple POVs and while I love each and every word, I've made it no secret that Solancei is my soul mate. I simply adore every little thing about her. Oh and the bad guys... wow. You know I'm a huge believer that a hero can only be as heroic as the villain they face and boy howdy. It's fast paced, with lots action, yet vivid detail and character depth. The balance is masterful, the result is total emersion into a word you won't want to leave.
This is must read.
Fantastic!
This is an epic read that can't be put down. From start to finish The Missing Shield builds intrigue within a fantasy world that is like no other. No matter what you expect in a fantasy novel, The Missing Shield will blow your expectations out of the water. Raise the bar, the fantasy genre has just taken a giant leap forward.
L.L.Thomsen what can I say about this book , besides I loved every page in this story .
All I have to really say is reminds me of Robert Jordan . The world chip in this story is amazing , you cannot put this book down it draws you in and you really hate that you have to go to sleep but no way your going to in the middle of a chapter lol because you have to continue reading and this world has drawn you in and made you feel a part of it and you hate to leave it .
The main characters are fleshed out perfectly from the word go you are drawn to them and you are vested in them and you actually feel for them , they have become friends and by the end they are best friends that you care about what happens to them And every decision they make you have to know how it's going to turn out .
Did I mention I love this story lol over 1000 pages of unputdownable , up late at night , kids fix your on food great story .
So don't let they size of this book turn you away , you need this epic sweeping fantasy in your life . Stop reading this review and go pick this book up you will not be disappointed . It is simply fantastic from the word go .
P.s. Buy it , read it , love it , go leave a review .
The descriptions were were detailed, bringing smells, sounds, and feelings to the reader. However, I could only read 58 percent. It was disjointed and confusing. Though the detail was minute, I did not grasp the big picture. When someone asked me what it was about, all I could think of was minutia. It is introspective with little action. Even after halfway through, I didn't have any idea where it was going. I found myself reading for 20 minutes and falling asleep. I came across a number of words used incorrectly and misspellings such as swopped instead of swapped, winched instead of winced, jocular instead of jugular, skewered instead of skewed, trashing instead of thrashing and such. The book would benefit from a native English speaker editing it. I never cared much for any of the characters. They were all the same in my mind, making it difficult for me to root for them. Perhaps I am just going through a rough reading patch, as others seem to enjoy the writing.
The only reason I gave this book a 4 is because it was so darn long that I had to try to remember which storyline I was reading. All the different stories are wonderful! As I was reading more and more, I am seeing where this is all heading towards. It’s a lot of fun and Solancei is my hero! Can’t wait to find out more!!
An epic tale.
This is truly an epic tale much like the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. It starts slowly and builds until you are total drawn in. You find yourself traveling from section to section wondering how it all fits. And in true epic fashion feeling like you are one with the characters.
