Reindeer Falls #2

If You Give A Jerk A Gingerbread

Rate this book
Dear Santa,

I do not want Keller James for Christmas.

I will not fall for him, no matter how charming or irresistible or famous he is. I will not be swayed by his skills in the kitchen or by his British accent. I’m going to win the Great Gingerbread Bake Off and no one is going to stand in my way. Not even Keller.

All kisses are off. I mean all bets. All bets are off. And his clothes, those are off too.

Grr, never mind. I’ll figure this out myself.

XOXO,
Ginger Winter

4 Jingle My Bell Stars ⭐

For those of us experiencing Great British Bake-Off withdrawal symptoms (I love you Noel Fielding), well here’s a chance to get your fix. Back at Reindeer Falls, it's time for The Great Gingerbread Bake-Off with a side of flirtations and stolen moments.

"Kissing the competition seems dicey, doesn't it? I've never been a dicey girl, either. But I kinda like this new naughty elf version of myself."

With the utmost intent of nabbing the title and prize money for her dream of opening a Bakery, Ginger Winter is horrified to learn that she'll be competing with none other than Keller James. The Keller James that has his own TV Network Food Show. Surely Santa's having a laugh?

But clearly, I didn’t think things through. Because he looks like Santa's gift to single women and I look like a package left on the front porch in the snow."

Instead of being focused on the win, Ginger becomes insanely distracted with the competition. With his irresistible British accent and sweet inconspicuous winks, Keller is the exact distraction she doesn’t need. What Ginger hasn’t considered is that his attention is much more than sabotage. Featuring an awkward baker, a hot Brit with perfect buns and delicious baked goods, If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread was witty and perfectly festive.

I really enjoyed the first novella in Jana Aston’s ‘Reindeer Falls’ series, but this book was even better than the first! If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread is such a fun and feel good holiday novella!

Keller James is a celebrity chef in town for the Great Gingerbread Bakeoff, the same competition local baker Ginger Winters is hoping to win. Ginger is instantly attracted to Keller, but her focus has to go to the competition. She’s forever dreamed of opening her own bakery and winning the prize money would get her that much closer.

The attraction between Ginger and Keller is palpable. No matter how much Ginger tries to push him away, she can’t. It’s meant to be, it’s magical. She can’t resist him and she doesn’t want to.
Kissing the competition seems dicey, doesn't it? I've never been a dicey girl, either. But I kinda like this new naughty elf version of myself.

Ginger and Keller together was the best! I loved the connection they shared and their love of baking. Their steamy scenes were super hot and I loved their sweet banter. Honestly, this was pretty great I only wish it was a bit longer. I would have loved a full length novel about them.

I can’t get enough of these fun, steamy, heartwarming, and feel-good novellas. I loved this one lots and can’t wait for the final novella of this series! If you love holiday reads, you need these books in your life!!

Sooo cute. Ginger (the gingerbread maker) encounters hot guy and famous celebrity chef Keller in the lobby of her inn devouring her gingerbread cookies. Sparks fly. It turns out they will be competing together on the world’s funniest Christmas themed Food Network baking competition. This was TOO CUTE.

I really loved this book! And what was great was the characters and plot were completely different then the first book in the series, The Boss Who Stole Christmas.

I have a confession to make. I watch holiday baking contests on the Food Network all the damn time so this book was perfect for me in regards to plot!
I loved both characters, Ginger & Keller! They were adorable, funny and the chemistry between them was well done.

I've been impressed with this Christmas series by Jana Aston! She's nailed both books and I'm looking forward to finishing with the last book!

I feel bad rating this the same as the first one because I felt it was better BUT I still don’t feel like this was a four star read. Also, I rated the other one last year and I’m way harder on books this year because I’ve read so much of the same over and over that I really value an original idea.
So this book…ugh. It was cute and a great light holiday read but it had some issues. First off I loved the hero, he was charming and sweet but also, very one dimensional. I feel like we didn’t get to know him at all. He was just a good looking British guy. This whole series seems to be in single pov from the FMCs perspective and it’s such a huge miss. We have no idea what the MMC thinks and feels. No insights into his personality. We are just trapped in the heroine’s head the whole time and it’s a kind of cringey place to be. Ginger is very awkward and a bit mean spirited. She hates Keller because he’s likeable. That’s the only thing I can determine. She’s suspicious of him because he’s nice to her. This book’s title does not fit with the story at all, he’s not a jerk, they aren’t rivals really. They are mostly friendly and have a tonne in common.
Anyway this was a short read and easy to get through if you can take a lot of cringey sexy elf references and some heavy second hand embarrassment on behalf of the FMC. If you like the great British bake off or shows like it, this will be up your alley. I enjoyed it but don’t get why this author wants to portray all her heroes in this series as jerks and yet each of them so far have been pretty decent guys.

I may have possibly laughed more from this story than the last!
Ginger was just so awkward. There were moments of her taking charge and being confident which was good but it was mostly with the awkward. It got a little too much near the middle-end.

I thought Holly had over-thought everything. However, Ginger Spice (her actual middle name) definitely takes the ginger flavoured cake on that one!
Again, that was taken a bit too far.

I really liked how Keller was not shy in showing his feelings for Ginger. You could tell that threw Ginger off which made their interactions hilarious.

I was surprised by how little Holly was mentioned. I was thinking this was going to be similar to how the Kringle Family Christmas was, where all the books were on the same timeline and interwoven with each other to come to the same endpoint.
There is some connections between the stories but not like the Kringle's.

The 'betrayal' sure didn't last long. Plus I don't know why Keller didn't just tell Ginger what he was doing since it involved both of their futures.
Speaking of, I liked that we got a brief glimpse at what their future together will look like.

There was just enough difference between Holly and Ginger's narration. Noel seems the most different so it'll be interesting to see how she thinks.

This book is absolutely adorable. The magic that Ginger & Keller has is undeniable. The instant connection that Ginger and Keller has is truly magical and together they are absolutely perfection. Truly another amazing read that will have you hooked and will have you wanting to visit Reindeer Falls. I absolutely love everything about this book. I swear Jana can do no wrong. Truly a magical read that everyone one must one click.

It was adorable...

Another great Christmas treat in Reindeer Falls that's left me smiling. These short little treats hit the mark and left me completely satisfied.

I love baking so I knew...hoped this one would be a winner. Ginger was a quirky character that had me laughing at her inner thoughts. Keller was surprisingly thoughtful and sweet considering his fame and good looks. I loved them together.

I'm definitely going on in the series but I'm sad there are only three.

Apparently thinking the worst of men runs in the family. Much like her sister Holly, Ginger is unfairly rude to the man of her dreams.

Keller is a celebrity chef who has a breakfast type show on the food network and Ginger’s had a crush on him for ages.

And when they meet sparks immediately fly until Ginger realizes that Keller isn’t there to judge the gingerbread competition she’s competing in but to compete against her.

Now her dreams of winning the cash prize to start her own bakery seems even further out of reach.

It was pretty cute, I enjoyed that Keller was British. I love the food network and their competitions so this was right up my alley.

I thought it was funny that Nick liked Holly because she was spiky, while Keller liked Ginger because she was so stinking cute! Like a kitten!

So charming!!! James is a very charming hero. Ginger was just so cute and adorable. These two together completely charmed me. I loved their banter. I loved how they couldn't stop looking at each other. His cute nicknames for her. Her silly flirtation with him. The whole book was one big charm fest and I loved it! What a great Christmas novella to put a smile on your face. I still want to live in Reindeer Falls. It sounds like Christmas heaven!

Sigue la línea del primero y de las pelis de Hallmark de Navidad y el sexo, uno de los platos fuertes de la autora, está bastante descafeinado. De fácil lectura y poco más.

Okay....ish.
Yet again too much time devoted to descriptions and details on such a short story.
I needed more time with the characters of this cheeky Christmas romance!!!!

Ginger Spice and Keller were cute and fun but the ending felt rather rushed and abrupt, also the story seemed a little incomplete to me.

I personally don't think Jana Aston's writing style is necessarily that copacetic with these type of "quickie" novellas.
Not to be too critical of one of my favorite authors but I much prefer reading her full length novels, so much more satisfying!!!

***Will be reading the third novella as why not???- it is sure to be equally fast reading, as well as being a kindle Unlimited release .

Add more Christmas cheer to my Sunday. Ginger Winter, the youngest Winter sister, is competing in a holiday baking show. Her biggest competition is Food Network star Keller James. She’s spicy ginger, he’s sweetly British. It’s simple. It works. In the first novel, Ginger seemed a little different from her sister Holly. In this one, I found she acted a bit too much like her middle sister. Keller is yummy. The whole book is a bit cliche, like a Hallmark movie. Oh but it’s a good, guilty pleasure.

So much fun!!!

Ginger and a Keller’s story was definitely your favourite Christmas movie brought to life - with a dash of dirty to spice it up. Witty banter, innocent innuendo and the Jana Aston brand of humour I love.

If you don’t smile and LOL while reading this one you deserve a stocking full of coal! Bring on book 3 of this awesome series.

I received an arc of this book.

I guess it was a good read... if you are a HUGE fan of gingerbread! Because there is sooo much inspiration for the stuff you could bake with it!

As I love Aston's writing, I enjoyed this little story; even though it was way too heavy on descriptions of strange sounding desserts and did not really show me much of the characters...

Ginger was funny, Keller was hot... But something was missing for me here. Maybe it's the gingerbread I couldn't care less about; or the pacing; or waaay too many unnecessary details... I don't know.

"I'm quite naughty." I pause here, not wanting to oversell or lie. "Reasonably naughty," I amend.

I really appreciated the humor though!! And the devotion to the Christmas spirit, heh. Will definitely read the third one!

This book was funnier than the previous one and of course it’s a bit rushed and cheesy and cute but it’s a holiday romance and I gobbled it up like it was my favorite dessert. I can’t wait for the next one and Christmas can’t get here fast enough now!

4 Sweet gingerbread stars! - Contemporary/Holiday Romance Novella

This is even better than the first story in the series, The Boss Who Stole Christmas, which I also enjoyed. It's a cute, sweet, warm and fuzzy romance that put a big smile on my face! Just an adorably delightful read!

Because Keller James wasn't standing in front of any of those contestants looking like a plate of snickerdoodles. If snickerdoodles were sexy. You know what I mean. None of those contestants had this kind of distraction. Although I did once see an episode of Sandwich Shop Showdown in which Keller was judging the semi-final round and there was a grandmother from Portland on that episode and I don't think she was thinking grandmotherly thoughts about Keller. That's all I'm saying. I feel you, Doris from Portland. I feel you.

Oh, for elf's sake. Did I really just say “single and ready to mingle?”

Book number 2 in the Reindeer Falls series and it is just as adorable as book 1, The Boss Who Stole Christmas....it can be read as a standalone, but come on people! It's Jana at her finest, why would you not read them all!?!?

Ginger and Keller have an adorable, quirky, fun Christmas read that will put a smile on your face - what more could you possibly want.....??! 🤨

description

“It’s Christmas, Ginger, and anything is possible at Christmas. Have a little faith in the magic.”

If You Give a Jerk a Gingerbread is the second book in Jana Aston’s scrumptiously funny, sweet and sexy Christmas romp series. This novella features Ginger, the sister of Holly from The Boss Who Stole Christmas. These novellas are completely standalone, however, why only have one slice of Christmas cake when you can eat the whole damn thing and guarantee a complete Christmas indulgent satisfaction?!

“So you were flirting with me because you thought I was a judge?” Keller’s brows rise, his eyes playfully narrowed. “You naughty minx, you.”

Ginger has a dream that features a whole lot of cakes and a cutesy pink and fluffy bakery in her home town of Reindeer Falls. First though she’s got to beat the infamous British celebrity chef, Keller yummy-licious James in the Christmassy Great Gingerbread Bake Off. The gloves come off and war is declared. But this war is one fought between the sheets as well as in the kitchen. The sparring of hearts in the bedroom and wooden spoons in the kitchen, who will end up the big winner?

‘Am I afraid of falling hopelessly, irrevocably in love with this guy? Yes. Terrifyingly, yes.’

This instalment felt more tame and a tad more sugary sweet, yet it still had that special brand of silly and quirky humour whilst being super romantic and so very Christmassy. We loved the bake off theme, after all it’s one of our favourite shows on telly! A swoon hit of Christmas spice and all things nice. Once again, Jana Aston gave us another reason for why we love our Christmas stories.

“Are you attempting to pick a fight with me as some kind of bizarre foreplay? Are you still hung up on that hate-fuck? Because I’m not really sure what’s going on right now.”

Man, we’ve completely fallen in love with this town, the setting, the people and the romance of it all. Jana Aston has completely wooed us and we’ve become addicted to everything Reindeer Falls. We just cannot get enough, and whilst we’re excited for the last book, The One Night Stand Before Christmas, which is the last sister, Noel’s story, we’re kind of gutted that this’ll be the end. We could keep reading these all the way through December!

“I’m fairly certain that the only thing I’d enjoy more than bantering with you is kissing you.”
