This book is for anyone who has dealt with or is dealing with heartbreak! I felt like the author understood exactly what it is like going through the different stages of healing! It DOES get better! This is a great book regardless of what stage of the healing process you are in! This book is honest and uplifting!
'Why do you long.. . For the bad seeds that you've lost? . They just use your energy . And take away your sunshine.... . 🥀🥀🥀 . Iv always loved poetry, but its been a while since I've read a full collection like this. Most poetry Iv read has been in the Welsh language, I have one book of welsh poetry that I absolutly love and have read it with my niece many times (although some of them aren't quite appropriate for a 7 yr old, but fun all the same )... this is one to keep and share with loved ones as it covers so many topics surrounding heartache, romance, lust and grief. To read this collection of poems as a whole, you really get a sense of love and all its power (the good of it, and the bad) Love has many stages, you fall, you hold on and sometimes you haveto let go.. 🥀.. theres is something quite sad about it as a story of loss becomes apparent throughout the pages. But also, each poem has its own story, and can be read alone and appart from the rest. A lovely piece of writing to keep dipping into. Thank you so much to @lovebookstours for my copy to review.
Olena Rose couldn't have made a better debut. A sublime collection of relatable poems to quench your thirst for poetry.
'Unhinged' is one of the best poetry books I’ve read in recent times. From the first page till the last, Olena's poems had me in a trance. Each and every one of it was soul-stirring. I could relate with her poems on a deeper/personal level and I'm pretty sure that every reader would feel the same. Sometimes, I took my eyes off the screen, closed my eyes, and let those lines, emotions, and feelings sink-in. I didn’t read this in a single sitting and I wouldn’t advise you to do that either. It’s a book that should be devoured slowly, little bit little until nothing is left of it. When I first got the book, I made it a point to read a couple of poems every single day, a decision that eventually made the whole reading experience more enjoyable. I half expected the compilation of the poems to be cheesy but the book quashed my assumptions. The choice of words, rhyme scheme, the structure, the intent, and emotions - everything was just perfect. They couldn't have been conveyed any better
Post-completion of the book, I was brimming with the happiness and satisfaction of having read a good poetry book. I also gave myself a pat on the back for picking it up in the first place. I think it's fair to say that the book is absolutely worth every penny. It's the sort of book which you can re-visit/re-read whenever you're feeling low in life.
I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for Olena's next book. And if it’s a poetry book like this one, I don’t think there’d be another soul happier than me.
Thank you to the author and Love Books Tours for the copy of this poetry collection in return for my honest opinion.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of reading Olena Rose's poetry, and it's definitely an experience. She doesn't use words gratuitously so I found her prose went straight from the page to my heart.
Rose could have been talking about some of my past relationships in Before You Start The Race, or Deflect. I also felt the power in Silence, and the loss of self in Reflection.
I enjoyed the changes in rhythm and rhyme, which made certain concepts and words more impactful to me. There was something thoughtful and moving too in the fonts carefully chosen to transpose ideas from the stark, white pages to the reader's soul through soft whispers.
I don't think I could have read this volume in one sitting, as I needed to savour and consider the imagery and emotions Rose conjures up. I would love to hear her reading her poetry, so even more subtle nuances become clear.
An empowering collection; I'll definitely be returning to it.
I read this for the Love Books Tours' book tour and I'm amazed at what I read. Seriously. I won't lie, I wasn't keen on the poetic structure of the book BUT after the first few pages, I realised the poetry just made the story hit me ten times deeper than the normal prose I read. The aim of the book is to remind the reader of their self-worth, their self-empowerment and their self-confidence and by the end of it, I had never felt so empowered and positive (where was this book when I was younger!?) Its a real battle throughout, between the head and the heart, between sense and love; a battle I know we've all had to face once in our lives, and the sometimes hard and enduring journey to finding our own happiness. Rose doesn't romanticise the heartbreak, she welcomes it and then grows through it and I'll be honest, its the most beautiful thing to read 💕
Thank you to @lovebookstours and @theolenarose for the gifted copy of the book.
“Putting the pieces back together After someone throws them around Like a puzzle completed Only to be broken apart Time and time again Until there is no more art- This isn't the end.”
Unhinged is a beautiful collection of poems about the journey of love and heartache. Olena has truly captured the process of what it means to fall in love, fall out of love and suffer a broken heart, then finding yourself again. Set over three sections, Falling, Holding On and Letting Go, Olena pulls you in with her powerful words.
I'm not one to really read a lot of poetry but I found Unhinged to be easy to read and there are some that really stuck out and resonated with me. They are so filled with emotion, and thought provoking words that everyone can find a way to connect to them. My favourites being Escape and Smile Algorithm made me feel happy and want to share it with everyone.
Olena’s poetry is spread neatly throughout the book, some poems across 3 pages and the use of different fonts helps bring out the raw emotions felt in them. It is easy to read in one sitting but I feel that it is better to take it slowly and truly devour the full charm of her poems. This book is a perfect start to poetry if it is not a genre you normally read, an alluring collection of poems that will take you on a path of healing after love.
This poetry collection I really found myself relating to so many poems, Craving, for something real such a good poem of advice being shared.
Swimming in fear too, about how easily we can let fear hold us back doing anything we want to as well as Letting Go, especially, is so relatable about losing sleep because of a person or situation you find yourself in trying to deal with.
A great collection about love of self, others and growth to embrace situations not shy away from them.
I used to write a lot of poetry in high school and college, so it was refreshing to see this book and the timeline of love/heartbreak. Some poems rang true to how I’ve felt in the past, but sometimes I felt some of the poems were so similar that I had to think of I was just rereading the same one. Overall a quick and fun read.
