I love the fact that Stahl showcases this movement in this book as well as how her characters are simply people and not "noble" or "suffering" or anything like that. It makes a nice change.
I do wish that the bit at the end, the non-fiction bit, had included a bit about the actual real life movement.
As a retired teacher and librarian, I would recommend this book for reading to kindergarten or first grade. It would tie in beautifully with studying diverse cultures and lands or with ecology and Earth Day. The illustrations are very colorful. This book is part of a series but doesn’t need to be read with the others.
Another great book by Bethany Stahl. This is my favorite! Hopeful, informative, and full of heart! Highly recommend! Oh, and the rich warm colors make it a delight to read.
My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.
I loved this simple story of a family doing what they can to help the earth. Kids will feel empowered knowing that we can all help. The illustrations are a delight on every page.
