The World Health Organization declares the respiratory virus outbreak of 2020 a global pandemic, as it has rapidly spread to all 195 countries. In the past two weeks, the number of cases has increased thirteen-fold, affecting a third of the global population. Every hour, the number of deaths increases exponentially, making it the worst epidemic the world has seen. With no vaccines in place for the new virus, in the weeks ahead, WHO expects to see the infection and death rates to rise rapidly.
‘Stay at home’, ‘Self-isolate,' 'Prevent the spread.’ Is what they stress on during the press releases.
London is the worst hit city. News flashed in the BBC channels. Living in the most notorious disease hotspot, Ram was nervous. His mobile phone rang. It was a video call from his love, Leela. On seeing her dressed up like a bride, he had thousand questions in his head. Leela reveals that her parents had planned for a lockdown wedding with Darshan. The call gets disconnected abruptly. Wi-Fi also gets cut off, and his mobile phone's signals drop without warning. The lights flicker before giving up. A complete power and signal outage.
'Hotcake' aka Cathy, Ram’s colleague and roommate, is attracted to him. She confesses the urge to make love to him. Darshan, suffering from a mental disorder since his childhood days, misbehaves with Leela after a heated argument.
No power. No signal. No social life. It’s the worst ever crisis the world has encountered. Once in every five minutes, a soul leaves its body.
Will Mike, Gary, Sam, and Ramya, along with Cathy and Ram revive power? Will Cathy get what she wants? Will Darshan and Leela marry after what happens between them? Will Ram survive the global pandemic? Will he get a chance to meet Leela again at least once in his life time?

Yipppeee.....Thank u for happy ending😄.......What u said is absolutely right!..."There is a thin line between trust, love and need- everyone must understand this".....I believe love can't withstand without trust.....cheers for this👍🏻......U made us see entirely different plot regarding this pandemic situation that the world is facing now......We must be thankful for atleast having basic amenities required for our survival......I suggest instead of being cranky for residing in home itself, I think everyone must make best out of it with our loved ones.....This story definitely reflects us to think about how we can survive without knowing where abouts of our dear ones at these times of crisis....So we should make beautiful memories that can be cherished and give us energy to face these tough times......This story also make us think about doing something for others during these difficult times just like what SAM did, Thanks sir for being so thoughtful.....Another best work from u sir 👏🏻👏🏻.....Congratulations and All the best for many more beautiful stories that are yet to come......#true_love_of_RamLeela👍🏻......
Sweet love story of Ram and Leela. Even if a pandemic tried to come between the two, their love stood strong. Despite all the hiccups and glitches the both had to deal with, this short story proves to be worthy of trusting love again. I like the way author justified of how this story isn't really about the pandemic but the love Ram and Leela had for each other and the strong bond that they shared.
This is story set in times of COVID out-break with exaggerated version and disease that ended in 150 days. The story of love, friendship, bonds , survival at minimalist and thinking out of box at the time of adversary. It is story of Ram and Leela
London is the worst hit city. News flashed in the BBC channels. Living in the most notorious disease hotspot, Ram was nervous. He received a video call from his love, Leela. On seeing her dressed up like a bride, he had thousand questions in his head. Leela reveals that her parents had planned for a lockdown wedding with Darshan and he is outside waiting for there first meet . The call gets disconnected abruptly. Wi-Fi also gets cut off, and his mobile phone's signals drop without warning. The lights flicker before giving up. A complete power and signal outage.
Cathy, Ram’s colleague and roommate, is attracted to him. She confesses the urge to make love to him, but his love is only for Leela. So in order to solve the problem they think of alternative to get power back and when they achieve it , first call he made to Leela and decided to go back home to India to his love to get married
Darshan, suffering from a mental disorder since his childhood days as he was abused and assault , he misbehaves with Leela after a heated argument and rejection but that solve the problem as she doesn't have to marry him but she take him to therapy for his recovery of past problems.
The First Call is a refreshing read during lockdown. The characters are well defined and used to the best in the story. I loved the justification for each characterization given. The narration is fluid, goes well with the story flow. What I missed was more of the love between Ram and Leela, but Sarav covered with Cathy for that matter.
Dialogues are my favorites: "Hmm", " Part of You", "No toe curling kisses" And much more!
My overall feedback is it a great story. Loved it to bits. Recommended to all readers!
