OUR FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS ARRANGEMENT IS PERFECT... UNTIL IT ISN'T.

Jax

I don't date. Period.
My life is all about those random one-time hook-ups--no expectations, no feelings, no commitment.
Until I meet Lexi.

One night with her just isn't enough. And the only way I can keep her is by offering the only thing I my body without my heart.

But she gets too close. All I want is to love her, but I can't. I've got wounds too deep to heal, and walls around my heart too thick to tear down.

The only way I can save her from the demons of my past is to let her go, even if it destroys me.

Lexi

After I caught my cheating fiancé in the act, I swore off men permanently.
Then I met Jax--he's funny, flirty and gorgeous.
Best of all? He only wants to be friends...with benefits.

I can handle a temporary, no-strings-attached fling, right? I like a good time as much as anyone, and Jax's chiseled abs set my body on fire.

Problem is, my heart didn't get the message.

The more I get to know the former Delta Force soldier, the more I suspect this casual arrangement is his attempt to keep his heart closed off forever.

How can I convince him to drop his defenses, and let me in?

"Jax and Lexi are everything! They love so hard and their chemistry incinerates the pages - their story is an emotional one that will rip your heart out." -- Amazon Review

Fragile Lies is the 2nd book in the Fragile Hearts series and part I of Jax and Lexi's duet. It contains a cliffhanger and must be read with Fragile Truths. Both books can be read as a standalone romance, but you first meet the couple in Fragile Scars.

Just okay

I really didn't like Jax. He lied to her about why he broke up and used the worst reason possible. My heart is breaking for her. I know they get back together in the next book, but I still hate him for lying to her. I know he has PTSD from his brother being killed but to break up with someone because they saw you had a nightmare basically!?!? Just wrong.

★★★½

Fragile Lies is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Standalone series by Lilian Harris and told the story about Lexi and Jax, whom we met in Fragile Scars.

Jax suffers from PTSD, so he thinks of himself as emotionally unavailable, Lexi suffers from self-esteem issues because of his cheating ex-fiancé.

Lexi has vow herself to never allow another man to break her heart, and Jax feels like he doesn't deserve happiness so a relationship is not in order for them, leaving them only with a friends-with-benefits option, one they took gladly.

The chemistry between these two is undeniable, you can feel it through the pages, so there's a lot of red hot intimacy between them! I'm a romance reader so I love to read those kinds of scenes but in my opinion, there was too much and I think that's why I didn't connect with the characters because as much as I love to read about sex, I love to read more of the storyline.

I honestly didn't expect the way it ended, I thought it was going to be another thing but hey, that was good. And even though I didn't connect with the characters as I wanted, I really like them so I will be reading the next book in the series.

Thank you so much to Lilian Harris for the chance to read the book in exchange for an honest review.

Fragile Lies is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series. The first book in the series, Fragile Scars can be read as a standalone. This is Jax and Lexi's story, the first part and continues in the next book, Fragile Thruth which is expected to be published on August 13th. This part ended in a cliffhanger.

This story is so steamy that could burn your kindle. The chemistry between Jax and Lexi is off charts.
It's emotional and beautiful told with a great expressions that help to fall in love with the characters as well as the plot.

Book Recommended!

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

Fragile Lies is the second book of the Fragile hearts Standalone series. Even though this book features different characters than the first book of the series , this book is the first part of the duet of those characters. Told in dual perspectives , this was another amazing work by this author.

After Fragile Scars , I had been eagerly anticipating this book. And it was everything I hoped and more. This book was one tremendous tale of love and friendship.

Both Lexi and Jax have also been introduced in the first part of this series. They finally have a book of their own now! From the moment they met each other , they felt this crazy attraction towards each other.

But Jax has demons of his own , the ones that don't allow him to be in a long relationship. So he proposes a friends with benefits solution to Lexi. Even though Lexi knows that she wants to have more with him , she agrees.

It doesn't take them both to realise that a simple friends with benefits relationship is not enough for them. Now it is upto tune to overcome their demons and fight for each other.

This book was yet another amazing read by this author and had me falling in love with these characters all over again. This book is recommended to all the contemporary romance lovers!!

Fragile Lies by Lilian Harris is a contemporary romance. This is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you meet Jax and Lexi in the first book.

This is the second book of Lilian’s that that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. Lilian did an amazing job making you feel all the emotions that Lexi and Jax were feeling. The story does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise said Lilian advised that in the description of the book. I cannot wait for Fragile Truths to be released on August 13, 2020 so I can get more of Jax and Lexi’s story.

I would highly recommend this book if you love contemporary romances.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS

It was great reading Jax and Lexi's story, especially since we were introduced to them in Fragile Scars. You definitely see this couple's attraction. Although they both have issues, you can sense the strong connection they share. Their journey is far from over. Fragile Lies by Lilian Harris is a MUST read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

h: Lexi
H: Jax
(Dual POVs)

Jax only does one night stands, as he suffers from PTSD and doesn’t want to put his demons on anyone else. Lexi caught her fiancé cheating on her, which leaves her with some serious self esteem issues.

I absolutely loved this book! The book packs a serious punch with all the feels. From the very first page, you’re sucked into the heartache and emotions these characters are going through. Jax, ugh! I love it when the H has a flirtatious, playful charisma. I love how confident and commanding he was 😍 He was also sweet, thoughtful and a gentleman. He truly doesn’t understand just how great he is! I’m definitely adding him to my list of book boyfriends!

I enjoyed how the secondary characters interacted with the main characters, in regards to their relationship. I loved the family dynamics that both Jax and Lexi’s families had.

I need the second book! Like now! P.S.- I looked at the next book in the series, to confirm when it was releasing. I read the blurb. That has a trigger warning. And I’m sooo not ready for the heartache 😭

Favorite Quotes:

He picks up my hand with his other and places it against the crook of his neck, his pulse racing under my touch. “Don’t worry,” he whispers, “you make me nervous too.”

“I won’t give you up. Not again.”
“But you won’t keep me either.”

No no no no I NEED more ,you can't leave me like this (stamps foot in a childish tantrum) haha

A fantastic angsty push and pull of a read , and I loved every minute of it..

both lex and jax are dealing with demons from the past and refuse to contemplate the fact that a relationship and love are ever on the cards, but the trouble with feelings is ,you can't control them.

A fantastic read from Lilian, brilliant and relatable storyline with characters that make you laugh and swoon im loving these stories and i cannot wait for the conclusion of Jax and lexi's story

I absolutely loved this book! This first part of Lexi and Jax’s story was so good. It’s intense, definitely intense, and I loved every minute of it. You can really feel the emotion coming from these characters, with the issues each has to try to manage. Among all that, chemistry was amazing! I highly recommend it. I’ll be over here waiting (im)patiently for the second part of their story. 😁😩

I received an arc for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I feel like I am in the eye of the hurricane after reading this book. Of course, the eye is only halfway and these two amazing characters have already taken me on one hell of a ride. I just hope they both come out with unscathed. Lillian Harris has a way with words that speak deep to my soul.

“Somewhere between our yesterdays and our tomorrows, we fell in love. And falling in love with her was easy, it was like jumping into a turbulent ocean and begging not to drown.”

Lexi Phillips has just gotten out of a horrible relationship. Falling for a guy to have him only break her heart by not being honest. After hanging out with her bestie and doing something she never does, exchange numbers with a guy. She is now in a texting relationship with one Jax Perry. Figuring he is just like all the others with his play-boyish behavior, she keeps him at bay. Though Jax may not present his real self…will Lexi be able to get through and see the real Jax or will he remain hidden and locked up?

“Sometimes what we create from the discarded pieces someone leaves behind is far more beautiful than we could’ve ever imagined.”

Jax Perry is part owner of JDG Global Security. After serving time in the Army in Delta Force, he is now doing his best with civilian life. Things haven’t been easy for him unless you are talking about the many women Jax has entertained. Though none of those women spend more than one night with him. However, a curveball in the form of one Lexi Philips may knock him off balance. Jax knows his past is still haunting his present, but with Lexi around the storms in his head seem to calm. Will Jax be able to stay as friends with Lexi or will he have to cut her loose and lose himself to dark forever?

“Somewhere between our yesterdays and our tomorrows, we fell in love. And falling in love with her was easy, it was like jumping into a turbulent ocean and begging not to drown.”

Lexi and Jax are so cute and the banter between these two is off the charts. They match up to one another perfectly. Lexi doesn’t take ish and isn’t falling for Jax in the falling, that is until they both start letting their guards down and slowly let one another in.

“Oh Jax, you’re lucky you’re pretty to look at.” Lexi
“Pretty? That’s what you call me? Man, I feel my masculinity just deflating.”Jax

Jax has been dealing with something dark from his past. Something that you can’t snap your fingers and it will magically go away. It doesn’t help that Jax’s two best friends also want him to stay away from Lexi and remind him what he is doing will/may have consequences in the end. I love how he does what he wants to do and accepts the fact that he isn’t the best for Lexi, but she is light in the dark.

“For a moment she was a flicker of light in the hellish darkness of my mind”

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the conclusion of Lexi and Jax.

Jax and Lexi are the best friends of Damian and Lilah who we meet in book one, Fragile Scars. We get a little insight in that book about a little something, something going on between the two, and Fragile Lies dives deeper into what they are to each other and more about who they are and their struggles. They are so natural in their conversations together, and deep down they both have feelings for each other and can’t seem to stay away. Jax presents her with the offer of being friends with benefits, no strings attached, and she agrees, while trying to keep her feelings for him at bay. Jax is a playboy and is dealing with some serious PTSD and has closed himself off to finding love… Lexi was burned in the past by an ex-fiance and swore she would never allow another man to break her heart, but when her feelings for Jax grow, he does just that…

Holy freaking cliffhanger! I need the next book ASAP!!! I NEED to know what happens next… This book is angsty and oh so steamy! I love Jax and Lexi and Harris’s writing! It was great to see the characters from the first book in this one, and to learn more about Jax and Lexi and what they’ve had to go through and how their feelings for each other are growing.

Fragile Lies will be released on July 13th, so keep an eye out!
Fragile Scars is available on KU until July 12th!

“Fragile Lies”—Lilian Harris [5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️] This is book two in the Fragile Hearts series, and if you haven’t read the first book, Fragile Scars, I highly suggest you do. This book can most definitely be read as a standalone, but you get introduced to a lot of the characters in the first book. After her ex-fiancee’s affair, Lexi hasn’t really been interested in dating or not even really attracted to anyone until she randomly meets Jax one night at the bar with her friend. She can tell he’s a total playboy and someone who she shouldn’t waste time with, but there is something about him that keeps drawing her to him. Jax isn’t used to someone like Lexi and he finds himself in uncharted territory of wanting more than just a hookup with her. Flirty texts and hang outs lead to a mutual friends with benefits arrangement, but they both know deep down this is something more than that, they just don’t want to admit it. Jax knows he can’t give Lexi what she deserves as his dark nightmares and secrets keep his heart locked away. This book ended with a total cliffhanger, but luckily the next book will be coming out soon as I cannot wait to hear part two of Lexi and Jax’s story. Make sure you grab a copy of this book when it comes out on July 13th! 👍🏼🥰 *Thank you to Lilian Harris for providing me a digital ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.* 📚

This book is just incredible and it completely wrecked me!!

Lilian Harris brings a story that is so deep and emotional, full of angst and drama but also fill with so many fun and sexy moments, that once I started reading I couldn't put the book down.

The main characters of the story are Lexi and Jax. Two people carrying their own insecurities about love and relationships. In a way they both have suffer from heartbreak in very different ways and they are unable to move own. The attraction and instant connection they have to one another is fantastic, their sexual chemistry is of the charts hot but still "commitment" is the one thing they refuse to have.

This book is part one of Lexi and Jax's story, so it does end on a cliffhanger but oh boy that ending almost gave me a hearth attack. I can't wait to see what happens next and if they are going to be able to heal from the wounds of their past.

I received an arc in exchange for my honest review. I just completed book one, Fragile Scars, then dove right into Jax and Lexi's story. This was such a quick read, and I just couldn't put it down.
Lexi and Jax have an instant attraction, but neither is ready to jump into a real relationship. After some flirty texts and a trauma that brings them together, they decide they can't stay away from each other and agree on a friends with benefits arrangement. Throw in a visit to Jax's mom's birthday party, trying to keep their "relationship" a secret from their best friends, lots of witty banter and super steamy scenes, and I was along for the ride! Jax is having some PTSD he doesn't want to deal with, and Lexi's pain from her ex-fiance cheating on her really make these two a hot mess when it comes to figuring out if they want to commit to each other. I really enjoyed the progression of the story, the character development and romance in this one. Friends with benefits isn't my favorite trope, but Lilian Harris made it work, and I enjoyed the book. Can't wait to see what happens with these two in the next book! Book 3 - Fragile Truths releases August 13, 2020.

Warnings: Cliffhanger, PTSD, domestic abuse, sexual imagery.

Thank you to Lilian Harris for the arc!

I have died from a broken heart....

... and it is a heart-broken ghost who is writing this 5-Star review! Author Lilian Harris has killed me dead with her words and the anguishing book that is about Lexi and Jax.

If you are like me, and hate cliff-hangers with the burning passion of a thousand suns, I’ll tell you here and now not to let this put you off reading Fragile Lies. You will most certainly be cheating yourself of one fabulous and emotional full-sized book that feels like a novella because time passed that quick while I sat and read it in one sitting!

While Fragile Lies is a stand-a-lone, this story coincides with Lilah and Damian’s book Fragile Scars, so if you’ve read that amazing book, and I very highly recommend that you do, then you will have meet both Lexi and Jax, and seen snippets of their interactions.

We start with the same bar scene, but this time it is from Lexi’s POV when she noticed Jax, and unlike her usual self, gave him her phone number. She knows the type of man he is; he’s very open with his transient sexual past, but has second thoughts given the damage that her cheating fiancée had created for her self image. She wasn’t going to give him a chance, no matter how intense the chemistry was between them. And oh, holy hell, Ms Harris has created hot chemistry in spades!! When Jax even went for a friendship over not seeing her at all, the romantic in me went insane with a need for them to work! What is it about the passages where our damaged hero continually places his forehead against our heroine and whispers beautiful encouraging things to her???? I wanted them to have their happy ending straight away, but I also didn’t want the book to end!

I swear to you that Lilian Harris treats her broken heroes with respect and care. Jax is former Delta Force and has seen and done too much. He fights with a darkness that threatens to overtake his daily life, and this is the reason for his one and done approach to avoiding relationships.

Trouble is, the Jax that Lexi got to see, and me by extension, is such a beautiful funny and thoughtful man. Hell’s teeth, the man drives a Mercedes Maybach, my new dream car, so I’d definitely fight off the devil herself to have him!!! Thing is, it’s the also the darkness in him that threatens to overcome every good thing in his life and I think he’s just broken all of our hearts.........

Like I said, be very aware that this is a cliff-hanger ending, and listen while I shout loudly at you that it is worth it. 5 Stars people. Now, I’m off to rudely message Lilian Harris about how much I hate cliff-hanger endings! 💔

This book pulled me in from the first page. Lexi has a negative self image of herself after finding out her fiance was cheating. She's been flirting with Jax and she can't deny her attraction to him. Jax makes her feel beautiful and sexy. Something she hasn't felt in a while. They have an amazing night together and decide to have a friends with benefits relationship. Jax has PTSD and major guilt from his brother's death. He doesn't feel he's worthy of being happy or in a relationship. I really enjoyed these characters and rooted for them to figure out their problems. I loved Jax's mom she told it to him straight and reminds me of my mom. I'm looking forward to the next book I need to know what happens next!

Chemistry is off the charts! 🔥

Wow! The chemistry pouring from the pages is incredible! Jax and Lexi are both broken for wildly different reasons. Jax has PTSD from Afghanistan while Lexi is broken from her ex fiancé cheating on her. They are helping to heal each other, as long as they’re willing to let go.

Fragile Lies

Start off the book ends with a cliffhanger. They met through her best friend. And he was up front with her that he didn't want any commitment from her. Fate has a way of making you eat those words. These two broken souls don't seem to realize that they need each other. But he breaks up with her. On to the next book.

“With just one look, she has the power to take a piece of me, the part I keep locked away with my demons”.

Fragile Lies is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series. Jax and Lexi are the best friends of Damian and Lilah and they were both introduced in the first book Fragile Scars.
Lexi, suffering already of self-esteem issue after discovering her fiancé cheating on her, vows to never allow another man to break her heart into her life until she meets Jax one night at the bar with her best friend Lilah.
Jax is suffering from PTSD, what he experienced made him believe that he doesn’t deserve happiness and so he hides behind this unbreakable, charming and handsome persona that he has created.

“When I close my eyes at night, you’re the only thing that calms my twisted mind. Part of me know you don’t belong there but the other part, it wants to hold you tight and never let go”.

Jax knows that he is not the right person for Lexi and can’t give her what she deserves but he still found himself offering her to start a friends with benefits relationship, no strings attached and she agrees while trying to avoid falling in love with him. What could possible go wrong?

“Could a man who’s so wrong for me feel so absolutely right?”

Lilian Harris brings an emotional and beautiful story full of angst, steam and fun moments. I absolutely loved the characters, the chemistry between Jax and Lexi is off the charts. This series is getting better and better and I can’t wait to know what happens next.

This book is the first part of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger.
Thank you so much Lilian Harris for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I loved this story! It was emotional and heavy for sure but it’s also sometimes funny and has a lighter side, steamy too. I was addicted from the first page and the author did a great job feeding that addiction throughout the story.

After reading book one, Fragile Scars, I knew their story would be great! These two have amazing chemistry, but there’s that feeling it could be so much more which is why it’s so hard to put down.

I felt so bad for Lexi as her story starts out rough and so sad. Learning to trust was difficult so taking that leap into trusting someone with her heart was hard. Their relationship feels somewhat forbidden just because they kept it a secret, which was an added bonus for me.

I love Jax’s smile and his cocky attitude. He is also so sweet as he’s constantly complimenting her to help her feel more confident; I wish he would let her help him too. His nightmares were painful to read and I really hoped he would be honest with himself about his need for help. It does take some time to actually learn about his very emotional past, and I still don’t know all of it.

There are some parts that I think could be a trigger as it gets pretty intense during some parts of it, and those scenes are very vivid and painful to read. However, I am ready for Fragile Truths and anxious to see how this all comes together.

WHAT THE HELL LILIAN HARRIS?! I know I read Fragile Lies ends on a cliffy, I just wasn't prepared for the leveled up oh my hell cliffy which truly has me ready to throw myself on the floor kicking & screaming and/or dying inside. I really don't want to get into a bunch of details because my words just won't do it justice. It's a story that once you start it, you won't be able to put it back down until you've read every last page. Lexi got her heart broken in the past, while Jax holds a lot of secrets, and yet, they have a big connection though he only asks for that whole friend's with benefits situation. However, feelings are being caught because they're feelings that a person can't always control. It's a fast paced, heat filled, edge of your seat, f-bomb dropping, and colorful metaphor name calling sort of ride, so it definitely had me all up in my happy place. I NEED that next book NOW, but alas, I'll have to wait though I'm pretty sure I'll become a stalker as I wait impatiently. So, buckle up & hit those one click buttons to experience this exciting piece of goodness for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
