William has always had a passion for books, writing and story-telling. William’s favourite way to end a cosy evening is to spend time dreaming up and reading bed-time stories to his five wonderful children.
‘Timothy Mean and the Time Machine’ and 'The Cockatoo from Timbuktu' were inspired by the spark of his children’s colourful imaginations as they tirelessly created unique, laughter filled days from even the most mundane, everyday objects and situations!
Born in England, William currently lives in Oslo, Norway with his wife and five children.
‘Timothy Mean and the Time Machine' won Readers Favorite Children's Sci-Fi / Fantasy 2019 Award’
The Cockatoo from Timbuktu is Williams 2nd picture book, released in January 2020.
Timothy Mean 2 is currently in production.
William has been described as an exciting author with his books being in the same calibre as Julia Donaldson.
“If you are a fan of Julia Donaldson, you will love William A.E. Ford’s books. They are of that calibre. They are packed full of a rhyming story, big and bright illustrations that match the stories and with something that children will take away from them – fun and just enough knowledge along the way. These book are fun to interact with at home, in a library or in school or to curl up with at bedtime. However you like to read books, this is an exciting author I highly recommend” Bookmarks & Stages.
Timothy Mean and the Time Machine 2 is a fantastic book that is so much more than the cover suggests. The story follows Timothy who visits different eras with his time machine and ends up finding himself in some challenging and unusual situations!
Whilst this looks to just be a fun book for children it is so much more with each page showing a different piece of history which will spark children's interest and I'm sure it would make them want to learn more. I think by having gladiators and cavemen etc. it makes the book a fun way of being between fantasy fiction and reality and I think this is what will make the children want to learn more as it seems so unrealistic and different from their world today.
The illustrations are beautiful and full of details that I think the children would love, I'm sure had I had the chance to read this to them they would think the alien pages were brilliant and the creatures in the cavemen pages are pretty impressive too!
The story itself is a rhyming book which is my favourite type of book to read and the children's favourite to listen to. I like the repeated phrase throughout the book as it gives children a chance to join in and with books in the past this has helped them stay engaged in the story.
This is a brilliant book that is great to spark an interest in some historical times and events whilst also being a funny and amusing read!
A wonderful addition to the Timothy Mean series of books. Timothy goes on several adventures in his time machine, visiting Ancient Egypt and Rome, to name a few destinations. He finds himself in several pickles, just about escaping with his time machine. Until faced with the aliens in space. This is when the power of siblings comes into play. Beautiful illustrations and a lovely rhyming story make for another book, I'd happily read to my class in school.
My children really enjoyed the first Timothy Mean and the Time Machine and were really excited when William told me about the 2nd in the series. It’s funny and entertaining and the illustrations are great and have lots of things to look at! Really charming series and as with the first book my kids love pretending to press the button!
William AE Ford is a briiliant childrens author and once again he has wriiten a fabulous for children of all ages.
I love the rhyming style of storytelling, I think it helps children with their reading skills and to remember the stories.
Timothy’s travels takes him everywhere, and in Timothy Mean and the Time Machine 2, he travels back in time to some of the most interesting historical places.
He travels to Egypt and meets Cleopatra, he defeats the gladiators, and he disgusts Leonardo da Vinci, which will give everyone a giggle. During all the fun he is having he discovers his sister Lucy has sneaked into his time machine, but does she help in any way, or does she continue to be an annoyance to Timothy?
Once again the illustrations are amazing. Marcelo Simonetti fills the pages with vibrancy and an array of colour. The story is brought to life with brilliant drawings and vivid detail. The mix of fantasy and reality is very well co-ordinated.
Children of all ages, boys and girls will enjoy these series of books, they are highly recommended and whether they are reading by themselves or being read to, the enjoyment of the stories will enrich their imagination.
First, I want to thank William A.E. Ford for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
William A.E. Ford is back again with the amazing adventures of Timothy Mean. However, this time around he has little help from his younger sister in Timothy Mean (and Lucy) and the Time Machine 2. Even though this is the second book you can read this as a standalone. However, the first one was just as good.
Marcelo Simonetti should be commended for his incredible illustrations he drew in this book. The pictures were extremely beautiful and detailed. Not to mention very colorful. He brings this story to life with his graphics.
William’s book may be intended for the younger set but us kids at heart (like myself) would very much enjoy it. Infact, I was cracking up laughing at times!
Timothy and his sister take us back in time to some really important historical events . We even get to meet some of the famous people behind those important times!
This is a great children’s story, written in rhyming verse it tells the story of Timothy Mean who travels back in time and learns about historic events, people and places. I loved the illustrations, they will provide good discussion points for adults or older children to talk about with less capable readers. The rhyming verse is the perfect hook for children to get into a book and interested in history at the same time. An enjoyable concept and story.
This sequel to Timothy Mean and the Time Machine is a very beautiful addition. It is one of the best way to develop the habit of reading and love of books (even small kids who yet cannot read words but will love the book and story on being read to. The book has elaborate and beautiful illustrations that attract everyone and story in rhyming paras will be loved. (Though the drawings in 1st book were more bright and cheerful) . A must read for kids and their parents and guardians and teachers.
Another wonderful story by William! The story is longer than the first one with more rhymes :') Grab the book today and take your kids on an adventure with Timothy and his sister.
This is the second book in the series and I think I loved it even more than the original Timothy Mean and the Time Machine.
The illustrations are beautifully done and together with the rhyming prose creates a fun adventure for a young child to enjoy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the journeys that Timothy continues to take in his Time Machine. He continues to travel to various fascinating points in history, and this time it is even better because his little sister Lucy is a part of the story, and she helps him.
This is a wonderful book for little ones to enjoy reading with an adult, and will prompt them to discuss more historical events, so they get to learn while having fun.
