Discover a new, foolproof approach to scrying and dowsing that features easy-to-use and accurate techniques that only take fifteen minutes. Regardless of your skill level, this book lets you find the location of lost items, reveal the mysteries of the past, and gain knowledge about the future or other dimensions of reality.
Jenny Tyson introduces you to a reengineered system of scrying that dramatically increases the accuracy of information you receive. She also guides you in using three distinct models of scrying: internal, external (using a crystal ball or other speculum), and casting items (such as bones, shells, or tarot cards). Learn how to combine dowsing tools with scrying to answer questions. Explore innovative strategies for eliminating your inherent biases, such as the quantum time loop and the grab bag technique. With case studies, advice for common problems, and more, this book helps you raise your divination practice to amazing heights.
Y'all know I come hard for stuff I think is Not Okay. My first clue was Llewellyn Publishing, basically the 'we'll publish anything that makes us a buck' of the New Age field, which is almost singlehandedly responsible for a lot of New Age trash flooding the market. (Don't get me wrong--not all their books are clunkers: Mary Greer's books, which are absolutely Do Not Miss in the Tarot world, are Llewellyn. And one of my favorite beginner I Ching books, as well.
But this is a key example of Bad Llewellyn. It's recycled stuff you can scrape off blogs and about a dozen other sources. It's poorly written, by which I mean, the sentence structures are clunky and unwieldy and it repeats the same thing three or four times, like this was a draft that needed editing but got shoved directly into print. I'm sure there's some good stuff in there, but it is SO far between and SO minute that it's not worth the journey.
Come to find out Jenny Tyson is the daughter of Donald Tyson, who is another Llewellyn author. Can you say 'nepotism'? Because I can.
If you literally know nothing about the topic, this might be an interesting place to start--though I still maintain there are better copyedited and written resources out there. If you have ever tried your hand at any sort of remote viewing (which is the topic of the VAST majority of this book) then not much will be helpful to you, so, you know, get it out of the library or something if you feel the need to check it out. It's not worth spending money on to own in your library.
This intriguing book offers a completely different way to scry than what you might have ever imagined or done before. The author has created a system that she states is easy to learn and more accurate than traditional methods. One keystone of her unique way is to have a hidden target. This is to free you from the constraints of your conscious mind, where you might try to influence—intentionally or unintentionally—what you might see or hear. The author goes over multiple ways to apply her methods to all aspects of life (personal as well as outside the normal constraints of space and time), even including case studies, which I find both helpful and fascinating. This book caught my imagination with its possibilities, and I look forward to continuing to work with her concepts about scrying and dowsing (which she uses when a question has only two answers). Most of the book is about scrying, which makes sense as it is more complex than dowsing. However, if you have an interest in either topic, this author's take on them is revitalizing and refreshing... and she passes on great techniques to add to your spiritual/occult/metaphysical quiver.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
There was a lot of great insight packed into this book. I really enjoyed the ways to stop bias from entering into the equation. Since that was often where my doubts about scrying and dowsing live the strongest I found myself now eager to give everything another try using several of the methods. I also liked that there were more than technique to scry presented. That allows room for personal preference. This will prove to be a wonderful resource that I am sure I will come back to again and again as questions arise.
I have always had interested in scrying & dowsing. I found this book had a lot of information in it . It will be book I come back to but I will do a chapter at a time and than have a break just so I can take this information in fully and to be able to dowsing properly. I would like a few pictures in there just to break up the information and to give me visual ques. Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.
I found this book excellent as it's well written and the explanation are clear. I wanted to learn something more about dowsing and scrying and this book helped me. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
