Wrong Number

Rate this book
A wrong text threw me into the right arms…
Nothing worse than a blind date turned bad, but to make matters worse my SOS text didn’t go to my friend. It went to a huge, gorgeous stranger, who appeared out of nowhere. I took a chance on my erstwhile rescuer and one thing led to another. (Fancy cocktails, six-foot sequined flamingos, talking through movies – you know how it is.) Can I really let myself fall completely for a man I just met? Is he sweet enough to be patient while I figure this whole first-time relationship out?

Ugh, 30% and I'm out.

A childish phlegmatic heroine who was so innocent at 22, she felt like a teenager. Gross.
The hero seemed okay at first - but a 36 y.o. man "falling hard" in two days for a woman who had a maturity of a teen and zero personality? Also gross.

The writing felt like a diary of a horny teenager who didn't yet know what they wanted but had the need to describe every little detail, thought, and twitch.

Kinda sad because the premise was good and the author can write good chemistry.

I just couldn't finish this one. It was so over the top sweet. I don't mind insta love but this was too much even for me. I thought it would be a cute read and I like an older man younger woman trope but it all is just too sweet.

Moving onto something else. Probably a Jenna Rose. Short, smutty and will up my read count since I'm like 4 books behind now. LOL

A blind date went bad. The girl met the boy because the girl sent an SOS message to the wrong number. Instant attraction sparked. Boy courted the girl and the real-life hit. The story was straightforward, quite predictable, and, unfortunately, not much twist nor surprise in the story. For me, the plot was quite dragging after they went on the 1st date. It was starting off quite interesting and then suddenly it just went flat after that.

Tana is on a date from hell, she sends her friend who set up blind date a text asking fir help. Unfortunately she got the number wrong and the text goes to Tyler. He lives in the neighborhood and doesn’t like that a man is harassing a woman, so he shows up at the restaurant and rescues her. They hit it off and decide to date. They see each other a few times and things are going well. Tana is completely new to dating and relationships, Tyler has had a few short relationships, but none lasted more than a month. Tana has a secret she’s keeping, the author tells you this after their first date and I kept waiting for the fallout of it. They have their first time together and then Tyler gets real busy at work and doesn’t call or text as often and Tana has real issues with abandonment and is a little upset by it. But Tyler really is a great guy, he makes time to explain and see her, even if it’s to drive her home. So it’s a double whammy when Tana’s big secret is revealed, her dad is a competitor of Tyler’s in carpentry and is not very good but always causes problems for Tyler’s company. And poor guy has to deal with his uncle being squirrelly, nothing shady just didn’t talk to him. But it’s still Tyler that apologize to Tana and goes to talk to his uncle. Tana and he talk, she apologize too and they make up. Epilogue one year later with Tyler proposing and nine years later with two daughters.
There were some cute and funny moments, but I didn’t like Tana’s character, for being so honest and good her, not saying anything about her dad was underhanded. Tyler forgave her too easy and made excuses for her.

Tana is a shy, inexperienced young woman whose friend arranged a blind date for her. Things don’t seem to be going well with the jerk, as he tries to get her drunk and won’t respect her boundaries. When she realizes she doesn’t know how to effectively deal with him, she texts her friend for help, but she types the number incorrectly.

Tyler is out with his friends having a beer when someone he doesn’t know sends him a text. It seems a woman is desperate to get help. Not sure if the text is even valid, he decides to take a chance and help her. He is able to rescues her from the man’s unwanted attentions! But the sizzling chemistry between Tyler and the woman is overwhelming. Will she be willing to take a chance on her knight in shining armor and have dinner with him? Could this be the start of a new relationship?

The story line of this story is clever, and the characters are likable. Although not much drama exists, I was content to read about the rescue and hope for a HEA. Grab your copy and see what happens to the two of them once Tyler rescues her and introduces himself.

The premise of this short story intrigued me so I decided to give it a try even though I don't really gravitate toward older man/younger woman romances and stories that rely heavily on "instalove."

The reason I don't typically enjoy OM/YW romances is because they often portray the heroine as childlike in her innocence and the hero as the older "teacher/protector." This short romance was no different in that the heroine seemed much younger than she was supposed to be. I felt like her thoughts/feelings/actions were typical of a high school teenager instead of an adult.

With that being said, this story was very sweet and included very little drama. There were some sex scenes, but they felt out of place to me given the overall tone of the book (seemed like "bubblegum" romance almost.)

The characters weren't very interesting and the story was uneventful to the point that it was boring. A lot of the story is simply told to the reader, which prevented me from becoming engrossed in the events of the book.

If you like OM/YW low-angst stories, then you may enjoy this quick read.

Tana, 22, is a young, shy innocent girl whose friend set her upon a blind date but things were not going well so she texted her friend for help. However, she had her friend’s number wrong in her new phone and her text went to a stranger, Tyler, 36. Tyler was with his buddies but he left to save her from the unwanted advances. When they talk she realizes the cabinetry installer is charming, funny, and friendly so she agrees to go to dinner with him. Tana and Tyler slowly get to know each other better and their relationship becomes serious until there are some misunderstandings and things Tana had not told Tyler. Could they workout their problems and find happiness together?

This was a cute instalove story that had a somewhat unbelievable premise and I give it 3.5 stars. I found it hard to belIeve that a girl who was upset about her blind date would leave with a stranger and I was never quite sure about the mystery with his Uncle’s business but the ending to their story was pleasant.

This is the first book I've read by this author and after reading the blurb I thought 'ok, sounds good.' Can't go wrong reading a wrong number book. The others I've read weren't so bad so why not give this a go. Damn was I disappointed. The beginning started out great. Bad date, text to wrong number, hero saves heroine. But then it got boring. The hero was too sweet letting her set the pace etc. After chapter 6, I had to bypass to last chapter just to get to the ending, and what do you know, her insecurities cause her to stalk him to a bar where she thinks he's moved on, he saves her again then apologizes for not calling her for a few days. Then they live HEA. I apologize to the author if you read this review. I'm not a hater but there was nothing enticing or captivating about this story. No push-pull, sass or witty banter, no suspense or mystery or anything to keep us intrigued. Only a sad story of being abandoned by everyone, which we've all had somewhere in our lives atleast once. But in saying all that, those of you who love a good romance story that's sickly sweet, this is probably for you.

Dull as Dishwater

Sorry Haley, but this is my second one star review of your books. I promise I won’t do another until it can be at least three stars. Nothing about the book was interesting. If I were to be truly honest, I would say that Tyler just might be a budding abuser. Sure it is all of us girls’ secret fantasy to have a fab guy fall H-O-H with us yada yada yada. But my real self knows that women are warned that some of his actions are an early sign of neurotic possessiveness usually leading to abuse. I love romance novels but I can’t just leave reality behind. ... Wait, I know what to do! ... Authors should start using a new disclaimer. After all, who cares about too much sex in a book (impossible to have too much), so the disclaimer should be to remind the reader of the early warning signs of domestic / dating violence and that the reader should not confuse a fun sexy book with reality. Ladies - fantasize all you want but be careful in your real lives.

OMG, Tyler is absolutely amazing! The way he steps in when Tana is uncomfortable, even though the text sent sent is clearly meant for someone else, is remarkable. He's not about to let a female be stuck on a blind date with a man intent upon not respecting her boundaries. Tana is sweet, shy, accommodating, and has a fear of being left by those she cherishes. Tyler is smitten as soon as he lays eyes on her, and is immediately protective. I love the way he caters to her, without being patronizing. And Tana is so appreciative of Tyler, very intent on being supportive and loving. Like any couple, they have their issues, but even in the midst of anger and uncertainty, Tyler and Tana are respectful of each other's feelings, taking remarkable care of each other. Sweet in the extreme, this is a wonderful story of a shy sweetheart finding her alpha prince. Happy Reading!!

“You...you came running because a stranger sent a text to the wrong number?”

This was a sweet, kind of wholesome story. Tana is a bit naive and a completely inexperienced 22 year old. Tyler is a 36 year old the boy next door type looking for that special someone. I have to say that the age difference never really even comes into play so if that’s what you like don’t be expecting too much if it.

The one thing that kinda bothered me was that Tyler could be weirdly sexist at times. It just came off as odd and gave him a weird vibe.

”I’ve always been the type to want to rescue a damsel in distress, but today’s modern woman didn’t always think too highly of that.”

”I couldn’t stand anyone who lies, but somehow it was even worse if it was a woman. I clearly understood that’s not fair, but it’s how I felt.

Those quotes just struck me strangely. If you’re looking for a wholesome novella without too much conflict this is for you.

Okay but not the best by this author

Wrong Number is the story of what happens to Tana when she send a "help me" text to the wrong number. Instead of it going to her girl friend Tyler receives it. He initially thinks it is a prank but still goes to the location and ends up helping Tana end her date from hell.
I have read a number of books by Haley Travis so was set for something that was fun and sexy with a bit of drama. It was that but I could not click with the characters. For me this was disappointing as I like this author.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own and I know that other readers will love this story. So if you are already a fan of Haley Travis pick Wrong Number up and read it but if you are new to this author then I would suggest reading another of her books first.

Tyler & Tana

This story started off really well and I was enjoying it, but I started to like Tyler less and less. He was very blah, and I just didn't feel like he cared much one way or another. He was the older man and should know better. He was with her for her 1st time and then just disappeared for a few days? She should've been hurt and ticked off. But I felt like he was taking advantage of her naivete. And he reacted to some other things in a way that seemed like he could just walk away... idk, there is a hea and I don't regret reading it, I just feel like she will always care a lot more than him. This is only the second book I've read of this author and I really enjoyed the 1st, so I will still try another.

Tana is on a blind date and it goes wrong fast, sending an SOS text to her friend. She has a new phone and the number is wrong so a construction worker, Tyler, receives it while with some friends. He gets worried and goes to rescue her - they hit it off - evening saved. Characters are fantastic, with great backstories and strong emotions. Stress enters as he is construction and she is afraid to say who her dad is. Tyler is also stressed about some computer files being locked up. Truths come out and miscommunications are squashed. Real feelings and emotions come out and the end is terrific.

This is a well-paced, well-written story with interesting, well-crafted characters who hit it off after a wrong text and some misunderstandings along the way. This was a quick, instaeverything love story in a new way. Tyler gets a text not meant for him from a woman stuck with a pushy blind date. He rushes to help her even though he has no idea that she is young, beautiful and sweet. Tana is very shocked but grateful for the rescue and they hit it off right away. A couple bumps along the way to their HEA.

When on a blind date there are sets of protocols to follow. Have a safe person to call in case things go wonky, have that person get you or call you for an “emergency “ and an escape route. This would’ve worked had said friend answered the text Or one failed the correct cell Number. Those type of glitches can cause problems. But if someone named Tyler at ‘64” with wide shoulder with a protective mean streak and great smile and humor came instead who’s to argue? Cut. Something learning lessons about nobody is exactly perfect chimed in there. No cliff

When Tyler rescues Tana from her horrible blind date, he can’t believe his good fortune at meeting such an incredible woman. Tana’s night went from bad to fantastic as Tyler showed her how a true gentleman treats a lady and she couldn’t wait to see him again. As their relationship develops, family drama threatens to tear them apart but Tyler will fight to show Tana she is the only woman for him as they make their HEA.

Tyler is a hardworking and good man who works in a construction company and Tana is a sweet and innocent secretary that sent an SOS to the wrong number and instead of her best friend she got the love of her life. I really liked that the characters and the fact that they are able to analyze themselves and their neurosis and work their problems out.

Just couldn't get into it. I tried, 54% but naw.
I liked how the book started. But seriously, he was hitting on her ten minutes after saving her from the failed blind date.
After that, it just seemed mushy and I couldn't bring myself to care about the characters at all.
I tried speed reading/skimming through the story. I see where the 'conflict' will arise , and it doesn't intrigue me at all.

This is a really nice romance which had me smiling at the sweetness of their romance. In a couple of place I felt the story needed a bit more development but I really did like the characters and enjoyed seeing them meet, get to know one another and fall in love.

I love Insta love stories and this was tagged as an Insta love story but I have attempted to read it twice and could only get half way thru each time. The 2 main characters seem to fall for each other pretty quickly and I love the wrong number idea that the story starts with but the story seems a bit draggy for me and it wasn't able to hold my attention either time I tried to read it.

DNF it can’t with the main MC, his neighborhood, and knowing the hostess by name and saying he’s paying for the meal if need be. Here I thought he would be a cop or something government or mafia nope just in construction 🤷🏼‍♀️ the MFC to much giggling 🙄 she also went from one stranger to another stranger walking her home! Nope I’m out.

An unexpected undercurrent of misogyny

The storyline was ok, nothing to write home about. The writing style was fine but there was this undercurrent of misogyny throughout that really came across in the MMC’s POV and made the reading experience unpleasant, though it seems unintended. This was my first read by Haley attacks and it will be my last. It was hard to finish.
