Bound to the Fae #1

Captive of Wolves

Rate this book
My blood is their salvation... and my ruin.

For years, the monsters who killed my family have held me in a cage. Brutalized and half-starved. Only kept alive so they can steal my blood.

Until one evening when four eerily gorgeous men break me out of my prison.

They give me a soft bed and delicious food. They say they'll protect me—but their generosity may come at a price.

My rescuers are monsters like my captors: fae who shift into wolves. A curse gripping the faerie realm turns them wild under the full moon. Only my blood can cure their rage.

These fearsome men need me, and not just to lift the curse. A tragedy left them outcasts, and offering me to their rulers could win them back the home and the power they lost.

No matter how kindly they treat me, no matter how their smoldering eyes and strong hands stir unfamiliar desires in both my body and my heart, their castle is just another prison. As long as I'm a prize more than a person, my life will never be my own.

I've survived this long without giving up. I won't roll over now. But how can one damaged human girl hold her own against the savage fae?

*Captive of Wolves is the first in a new paranormal romance saga featuring possessive wolf shifters, fraught fae politics, and a wounded heroine coming into her own. Grab it now and get swept away in the fantasy!*

This is an okay story. The beginning is very promising, Talia has been a prisoner for 8 years now and the faes that have her are using her blood for something mysterious. Everything seems hopeless, until one day, 4 men come in to search the place where she is kept to find the mysterious tonic that her captors have been producing, and discover instead that her blood is the secret ingredient they were looking for so they decide to leave with her. It is dark and the characters seem great, but then it drags on and on and on for so long.

The men who rescued Talia are nice, there is Sylas, the leader, Auguste, the young and friendly fae, Witt, the suspicious one, and Kellan, the hateful fae who would like nothing more than to get rid of Talia. Sylas is planning to give Talia to the arch-lords to gain back the prestige his pack lost (we still have no idea how they ended up being outcast and what exactly is their hierarchy though), but of course, things get more and more complicated as they come closer to the full moon date because they grew attached to Talia.

As I said, the beginning is promising and I was expecting something dark and full of action, maybe even deception. But instead, I had a 200 something pages story about how Talia slowly got back in good shape and developed relationships with her captors. I got bored near the 70% mark and had to force myself to finish the book because I was hoping that something unexpected would happen.

There is a tentative at a reverse-harem also, but honestly, all the romantic and sexy parts were awkward to read, the way it is written and Talia’s behavior just made it weird instead of sexy and exciting. The character development is lacking, mostly because of the way Talia changes too quickly, and in a way that is just sooooooo convenient for the RH to come. The evolution of romantic feelings was rushed and came out of nowhere for some characters, it was there just so we could have our base to build the reverse-harem in the next books, even though it made no sense with the MC's past and previous behavior.

The magic system in this book is original and I am sad that it was not more present. The fact that a tattoo appears on the skin of a Fae once he has mastered the true name of an object or an element and therefore mastered magic over this element is a unique and new concept for me, but it was only briefly explained and then forgotten.

Overall the story is not bad, but the whole romance and relationship aspect needs some work and the middle drags on for way too long. I just didn't care enough about any characters to feel the need to read the next book.

content warnings in spoilers

I really liked the start of this one. The writing was different than I expected, skewing more towards a high fantasy style that I really enjoyed. I also really liked learning about the Fae realm (which reminded me of the Spring Court in ACOTAR) and being introduced to the four members of Sylas' Cadre that would become the love interests. It was also refreshing to have a disabled MC in a fantasy romance series.
However, at around the 45% mark, my interest started to wane a bit, and by the time I got to the end, I realised that is because I feel this book was lacking in plot.
We have Talia, a young woman who has been held in captivity for 8 years so that her blood can be used in a powerful tonic that prevents the Fae from having to shift into their wolf form during the full moon. When Talia is rescued by Sylas' cadre, she struggles to come to terms with the fact that she doesn't actually mind their presence and is enjoying the luxury she now lives in, while still technically being held captive as she is not allowed to leave. That is pretty much the whole plot, so while I found it enjoyable for the majority of the book, as I got increasingly closer to the end, I felt like I was waiting for something to happen, that never really did.
Overall though, I thought this was promising and enjoyed it enough to continue the series.

I loved the beginning, but the story definitely tapered off in the middle. Not a huge fan of the harem situation its taking, but I still want to read the next book. I feel like this has potential to redeem itself. Hopefully. 😚

tik tok has deceived me once again. i got recommended this book because the reviews were imploring how smutty it was, only for me to find out at the end of this book that it's part of a NINE book series! this first volume was so slow burn that i don't even consider it that. there was just no burn. the fire was off.

maybe this picks up in future volumes but i didn't care enough about the world and characters to want to continue

Talia was kidnapped by evil fae that can shift into wolves when she was twelve. She spends the next nine years in a cage, being drained of blood every month and tortured in between. Her captors hate her, but they do feed her enough to keep her alive because her blood is valuable to them.

Being the smart, determined cookie that she is, Talia finds a way to get out of the cage before a worse fate (discussed by the men who kidnapped her during her last draining) befalls her. Unfortunately, she isn't quick enough and is forced to hide as four other fae she's never seen before stalk into her prison looking for something. Talia's very good act of a regular unmoving blanket doesn't help and she's taken yet again, to a different sort of keep.

Her new kinappers are undoubtedly nicer, giving her a room, comfortable bed, healing her injuries and feeding her with proper food, but she's still not free to go home. And what is "home" anyway? Her family is long gone and the relatives she has left, she barely knows. And she can't help getting closer to certain two (possibly even three) men.

Sylas, the leader, originally planned to just hand the girl over to the arch-lords and be done with it, but how can he now, with his growing affections? As the book goes on, he and the others realise just how far they're willing to go to protect Talia from anyone who might try to do her harm, and by any means necessary.

This book was sooooooo addicting, I had trouble putting it down to go sleep. It hooked me from the very first moment and now I can't wait for the next one. Hopefully it won't be too long.

The writing was so easy to follow, I had no problems jumping straight into the story and all the different POVs didn't confuse me once.

The plot? WHO CARES ABOUT THE PLOT WHEN WE GOT THAT POOL SCENE?!

No, the plot was nice, it didn't drag on and it didn't feel like a "filler" book. It did set up things for the next one, but most of that happened at the end.

A small issue I had was how quickly Talia started eating normal portions. She was starved for almost a decade but it takes a week for her to eat around half...yeah no. Her stomach would've been too small to be fixed that fast.

I liked all the characters, some more than others. I wasn't expecting Kellan to...not change? That caught me by surprise. I thought he'd warm up to her.

August is the cutest with his cooking and his video games and smiles. And I really like Whitt too, can't wait to see more of him. Sylas was both hot and cold for me, I'd prefer the other two over him if Talia ever chose just one guy.

The pool scene gets another mention because it's the best scene and no one can convince me otherwise. Even if I didn't love the rest of the book as much as I do, I'd reread it just for that scene, it's that good.

THE ENDING.

Two things to say here, Talia acts stupid during the full moon, but she gets a pass because she's been an angel every other time. She could've just waited till it was over though. Too late now.

And the very end, THAT'S SO EERIE. BUT THAT'S ALSO MY FAVOURITE VILLAIN SO FAR. If he dies in the next book I will be all kinds of upset.

Bonus: The short story linked, IT'S ADORABLE. I love Whitt even more now.

** Read as part of the Wolves of Summer box set.

Captive of Wolves is book one in the Bound to the Fae series by Eva Chase.

It’s written in different POV’s and is a reverse harem.

The series follows one girl or should I say a young women who was kidnapped as a young teenager and spends the next nine years in captivate being abused, beaten, starved, and having her blood stollen all so the Fae, who can change into wolves, don’t go crazy one night each month.

I like the concept of Fae who are werewolves. This is new to me in the paranormal genre. I haven’t read this type of supernatural before.

Captive of Wolves, is a slow and a bit hard to read at times; because of the abuse and emotions. Then we have a very young heroine who is starting to come into her own. Her mindset is between a child and adolescence and maybe into adulthood so, having her have sexual rations with older men (immortals) didn’t work for me. It felt off. I’m also not a fan of young heroine’s.

As for the Fae men, our heroine is rescued by four of them, but not all of them like humans. About 80% of the book is spent with our heroine having moments with each guy and not all are good moments. One wants her gone, another is in the middle on his feelings, and the last two want to sleep with her.

The end is when our plot finally kicks in with some fighting, blood drinking, and then the guys talking about sharing her.

This book felt too much like Stockholm Syndrome. Then the guys talking about sharing her made it sound like she’s a toy. Our heroine is a virgin and has had no experience with relationships, interactions with others, etc... I also felt no chemistry between the characters except maybe with August one of the Fae men. Last, I started this thinking it would be a three book series, but it turns out to be nine books. I can’t see this series going that long.

Human Talia has spent several years as a prisoner, tortured and treated like crap by the horrid fae we take her blood. When she is rescued by another group of fae she finds herself in another prison, one that is much nicer and comes without the cruelty she has gotten used to, but a prison it still is and she is determined to escape. The attraction she feels for some of her new captors is unexpected and complicates matters even more for her and them.

I liked Talia's resolve to survive and escape.

Kellan was a total asshole and needed to be sucker punched, didn't like him at all.

This started so promisingly, I found myself sinking into my sofa ready to enjoy but whilst I finished the book, it's not left much of an impression. It was an ok-ish one read but it didn't have the magic I hoped for.

Not sure if I'll be reading book 2 when it comes out.

*ARC read*

This was an emotional and exciting introduction into a new series that I can’t wait to read more of. We’re first introduced to human Talia during her captivity and get a pretty detailed account of what this last nearly decade has been like for her. I loved the writing during these scenes, when she’s looking back at her time in the cage, as well as when we get to see the emotional and physical impact that her captivity has caused, the author really packed an emotional punch and didn’t hold back. I felt connected to Talia right away, I teared up a few times and really felt for her.

She soon finds herself in a different type of confinement but one where she is able to stretch her legs, literally and figuratively. I really enjoyed getting to see her heal and see her actual personality come out. She’s extremely intuitive and smart, and we’re getting a taste of what she’ll be like when she’s even more confident about her place in Faery and becomes more self aware. I liked that her character development and relationship development wasn’t at warp speed, while it does make for a bit of a slower first book it felt very appropriate and natural for her journey given her history and personality.

I’m most looking forward to getting to know the men more. Book one was a good introduction to them but where we saw Talia grow and embrace her circumstances some, we haven’t seen too much of that yet from the men. These men who are also a bit damaged and broken too. I loved the bits of protectiveness and steam that we did have in the book, it’s a slow burn but there are some great sexy masturbation scenes that have me greedy for more of these four.

The world building was very detailed and the brief glimpses we got into the fae magic were very interesting too. I loved that one of the guys used his magic to get the tangles out of her hair and then dye it pink. There were times when the overall storyline does drag a bit and were almost getting too much world building, but it feels necessary for the story to have a slow pace since Talia needs space and time to heal and mend. It really picks up in the last one third of the book and that ending has me salivating to see what happens next.

Overall, it’s a great start to a series that has me really excited about what the next books will bring; her exploring the Keep, getting to see more of Faery and the magic, and her relationships developing are at the top of my list!

Things I loved:
-original steamy bits; loved the pool scene
-loved Talia, shes this great mix of timidness and strength
-Whitt; can’t wait to see how his character develops. The drinking/revelry stuff, I thought it was really fun and brought a bit of edginess to the book.
-the magic and using Fae words and the tattoos, can’t wait for more of that!
-the dialogue was highly stylized and almost had a historical feel to it; the vibe and mood that helped to create was immersive

Things that were just okay for me:
-that stylized writing style was great for the dialogue but sometimes I was confused and it can be a bit wordy.
-there were parts that were a tad slow with a big focus on world building
-there were a lot of details about things, like the food and Keep but then not enough details about other things, like clothing and their tattoos, that I found myself wanting.
-I feel like I’m more excited for the things to come than I am about the things already read

Overall: 4.5 stars

I loved this book so freaking much!! I don't know if it's because I missed the genre and I haven't read any reverse harem romance in months or if it's simply because this book is great but I'll say it's probably both.

Captive of Wolves follows a young human woman being held captive for eight years or so. She was kidnapped by cruel men that can turn into wolves. She soon learn that they are fae but during those years she was never able to get out of her small cage and she never really learned anything about where she is. All she knows is that they need her blood for something. So when another bunch of fae that she's never seen before come inside the room, they figure out that the secret ingredient of a "tonic" made by the fae is actually this almost starved human girl.

As for the men, you'll meet the leader Sylas, then his half-brothers Whitt and August. Kellan is also part of their tight circle but he's an asshole who clearly isn't going to be part of the harem and I can't say I'm sad about it ahah. Now I loved the other men. August was so sweet and kind, Sylas was protective even though he's trying to do what's best for his people. And Whitt is still a bit of a mystery but I can't wait to learn more about him.

Overall, this book was addicting and I'm sad that it's over already. The chemistry was amazing, the tension was great and I need more. I don't know when the next book is going to be published but you can bet I'll want to read it as soon as possible!

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Captive of Wolves was a wild ride. In it, you will meet Talia and she is not living her best life. Nope, she has been kidnapped from her world and currently lives in a cage. The only time she sees her captors is when they come in to take her blood. It's not the only thing they do because one of them does love to torture her as well.

Long story short, she hates this place and just wants to go back home. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't know how to get back or where she is. It also doesn't help that it's been about 9 years since she has disappeared.

So when strangers come in to save her.. let's just say that she doesn't trust them right away. Which is a good thing for her. It also doesn't take long for tension to rise and for some feelings to develop. All I can say is.. the ending was so good. I have a feeling that a fight or battle will break out and I'm all for it.

Captive of wolves starts as a burglary gone wrong that quickly develops into a rescue mission of a damsel in distress.

I liked how original the premise of the Captive of Wolves was- " Beyond the veil, lingers the world of the fae, who turn into monstrous creatures every full moon until a magical tonic was developed that allows them to retain their humanity."

Another thing I enjoyed was the multi-perspective narrative of this book. This style is a favorite of mine as I love getting inside the heads of the characters. This was crucial for me as this was a reverse harem novel and knowing how the various characters react was essential to plot development.

I did have a couple of peeves about it, especially with Thalia. Thalia was held captive for eight years and treated horrendously yet she suffers no extreme mental issues and seems to bounce back pretty quickly. She quickly develops relationships that have no substance and came across as a "user" with some of the characters.

Normally, I would cheer on the female heroines for their clever tactics or their use of feminine wiles against the male characters but, Thalia was too awkward to pull this off. Her sudden transition from shy virgin to almost femme fatale was laughable and, while I am all for female exploration and sensuality, the development seemed forced.

I did not agree with her rationale for a lot of actions which were quite illogical and unfortunately threw the story off for me and did nothing to engender me to her. As a character, I could not connect with Thalia at all and couldn't buy into the relationships she attempted to develop with the other men.

Captive of wolves was quite contradictory in my mind because while I understand and appreciate the undertones of sexual tension and slight RH, it felt too middle school drama for me. Thalia as a character needed to be developed properly as she came across as too weak-minded and easily swayed to capture the attention of powerful males such as Sylas and August.

This book would appeal to readers who enjoy paranormal, reverse harems with non-dominant females. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a copy of this arc, all the views and opinions expressed are my own.

The setting was great the execution not convincing enough for me to continue. The characters were a bit flat. The writing not my cup of tea. But it’s an easy read if you like those.

First, let's get the boring stuff out of the way. This book was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Now, let's talk about this book. Where to start?

This book follows a woman who was stolen from her home and kept in a cage for eight years. Then she's saved by some fae werewolves. The next 80% of the book's spent with her girl having a moment with each of the guys. Not all good moments there's one guy who hates her. No plot, just a guy who scares and bullies her and two guys who want to sleep with her. Then a guy who's just kind of in the middle about her.

Then the plot finally kicks in and ends with a little fight and some blood-drinking. Only to have the guys take about sharing her. Like she's a toy. Yeah.

I had no idea this was a reverse harem novel and, had I known - I'd never have picked it up. That genre isn't my thing.

The writing is fine and dandy and, I loved that the main character is disabled: some good representation at least. Besides the hack of a plot for most of the book, it's not bad. Just not my thing. If you're into this kind of genre, then I say give it a go. For me, I'll be passing on this series.

This is a brand new series from Eva Chase that I was excited to read because it has fae shifters, I mean come on who wouldn't want to read about this?
We meet our girl Talia who has been held for years because her blood holds something that everyone wants. So she trades on cell for a nicer one. But at least she feels safe in her the keep.
Then we have the guys.... each one is different and has something to help Talia. Plus there's something special about this girl... more than what we know so far.
So if you are wanting a fun, exciting story that's full of mystery and intrigued then this is the book for you. I eagerly await the next one

Something about this just didn’t appeal to me. Very dark & twisted vibe, which is not my cup of tea. There’s no world building, so I’m confused right off the bat, not knowing what creatures hold Talia captive or why, or the guys that supposedly grab her from the cage making her their captive instead. I didn't like any of the characters, the flow was incredibly slow, & I couldn’t get into the vibe of the story. It felt like it was a Stockholm syndrome setup (which I normally dislike), & a Reverse Harem setup.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

I really enjoyed this book. It had me on the edge of my seat more than once. It kinda starts out by slapping you in the face with a quick start and never stops to continue to keep you interested from the first word. I will most defiantly re-read this AMAZING book again over and over. I also love how this author approaches PTSD. It is a very real thing that many people including myself self have. I have to thank the author on this point because too many people make light of this series affliction. I cannot wait to read the second book! Thanks for giving me something that I could not put down.

I read an advanced copy of this book and did not receive compensation for this review.

okay so i have finally finished this book at least. I started it months ago and i just could not continue it, it was such a slow pace and i guess i got bored or something. But now i picked it up again and i started off where i left. This time i got more hooked on the story, i am interested to know more about what the heroin Talia is and her background.
Talia was irritating me cuz of how timid she was and how she apologized so much even when it was not her fault. Guuurl, noo.
The guys where alright

I liked the beginning of the story but felt the middle dragged a little. I think the development of the harem was a little off with FMC Talia being a prisoner for so long. It isn't as slow of a burn as I figured it would be. I am not sure how I feel about Whitt.

I do want to continue the series, though, because I think Talia knows more than she is saying about why she was taken as a child.

All my love to this unputdownable fae series starter! This was filled with surprises. Talia is so very fragile at this beginning and as the story progresses she heals and grows so much. She's missed so many milestones and she's trying to catch up and branch out and explore the opportunities that are presented to her. It's not easy being a captive even when you're drawn to your captors.

It's a very interesting thing to watch such powerful beings have to set aside their natural inclinations and share. They each have a dominate side that wants to claim Talia for themselves and watching them reign themselves in gives you a pause wondering if they'll tear into each other.

The fae dynamic with the shifter aspect and the magical atmosphere makes this an intriguing read. It's absolutely difficult to choose a favorite, they are all quite delicious.

I'm looking forward to some steamy scenes and to finding out whether these men that aren't men can share or if they'll agree to take turns in the following books. I'm hooked and can't wait to see how they break this vicious curse.

Talia has spent the last 8 years locked in a cage by some "not men" who take her blood periodically. Just as she is finally about to escape, some new "not men" barge into the room where her cage is and kidnapped by them. It turns out these new captors are a bit nicer but despite the new accommodations, she still feels trapped. BTW, men but "not men" turn out to be Fae that turn into wolves. While she plans her escape, Sylas and his cadre (her new captors) are trying to figure out why Talia's blood is the key to curing "The Wildness" that afflicts all Fae during the full moon.

I thought this was an interesting take on the Fae & werewolves. Of course, it was easy to like all the guys and Talia is growing on me. For someone that spent nearly a decade being beat down and abused, she has a lot of internal strength and still manages to be kind. This was just an introduction to the world and the characters. I've got a lot of questions that I hope will be answered in the next book.

Ok, where to start.... first of all wow I want more, I didn’t put the book down from the moment I started reading until I finished, which did mean I went to sleep at 5.30am BUT so worth it. I love the way this author - Eva Chase writes. Every delicate detail and description, which you may think it doesn’t need but I can assure you it definitely does (last chapter🤯) i need answers, I have definitely been completely and utterly drawn in to this series with questions I need answers to, I loved the story, the main characters have burrowed into my heart especially a certain someone, trust me when I say there are 3 beautiful men that your going to want to read about and possibly more😉 😍 and I am waiting patiently for book 2, I can’t wait to see where the story goes, how relationships will flourish, what happens with the good guys, the bad guys etc
A beautiful read and I can’t wait to see where this series takes us 💜

This book gripped me from the beginning and didn't let go!
We start out with Talia in a cage where's she's been for years. She's been beaten, starved, and is near dead when a new group of fae find her and take her to their home. Although they treat her pretty well, she's in a gilded cage and still yearns to be free and return home.

I liked how Talia's relationship with the guys evolved slowly, if it had been much faster it wouldn't have been realistic. There were some cringey moments where Talia was super awkward with the romance, but I wouldn't expect anything else since she was taken at age twelve. August is my favorite guy and I loved how sweet he was with her. Sylas is the tough leader and protects Talia against the awful Kellan. He and Talia have nice physical chemistry and I'm looking forward to the escalation of their relationship.

There was some drama to fill out the story, aka Kellan and all his issues. I had hoped we would get more answers at the end, but I think the next book is going to be crazy!

This was a pretty good book. It's been on my TBR list forever. It started out kind of slow and I didn't like it but towards the middle, it got a lot more interesting. I loved Talia and I hated that she was being used for her blood. I hate that she finally got used to it and could dissociate enough to not care. I love that the boys rescued her and took her back to their home and treated her great. I love that she slowly grows more accustomed to them and eventually begins to crave their attention. I love that she is able to finally trust them enough to be willing to stay with them. So far this series is good and I'm excited to finish the series.

DNF 38%

Second time I tried to read this book and second time I DNF it😅🙈 So there's definitely something which doesn't click with this book. Maybe a part of the reason it that I didn't find the characters appealing. The FMC, Talia, is weak and in such a complicated situation that you couldn't imagine how it would work for her. The guys weren't really kind with her for the moment... Definitely not for me🤷🏻‍♀️

I think Eva Chase recommended this book three times already. Every time I asked for a disabled lead in a fantasy world with loads of politics and more plot than sex, this book came up. I'm glad however that I waited for the collection editions to be released to start reading. The hardcovers each containing three books of the series are insanely pretty! But, last week the first hardcover came in so it was time to finally start this highly anticipated series.

I was NOT disappointed! From the very first chapter I was sucked into the story and it was hard to put the book down or to focus on the review copies I also had to read this week. The author does an amazing job setting the atmosphere and picturing the world of the Fae without showing us much about it. After all, our heroine basically spends the entire book as a captive. Either in a cage or in a luxury mansion.

It's clear that the politics isn't showing its face often in this book yet. However, I feel and know that it's coming. After all, our heroine is the cure to a growing Fae problem and she has been stolen from the cadre that had her. It's a matter of time before the cadre figured out who got the girl and before the politics will take over. I'm already looking forward to it, because the glimpses of the politics we got in this book were amazing.

I however absolutely loved the characters in this book! It's clear that the men are still hiding parts of themselves and their history and I can't wait to get to know them better in future books, but it was incredibly easy to understand why our heroine would fall for them so quickly. And even though our heroine has some growing to do, especially when it comes to risk taking, I love her heart of gold and her will to do what's best for the people she loves.

I can't wait to dive into the next book!

So, I’m not quite sure where to start with this one. Toward the end it went a direction I did not see coming. This is the story of a young girl who is a human prisoner in a Fae world, and who is rescued only to find her self in another “captive” though luxurious situation, and must decide between freedom, the safety and comforts of her current keep, and giving in to her more primal desires. That being said, for a girl who went from virgin to prisoner to offering herself to multiple men, I struggled a bit to understand where her promiscuity developed. I could see multiple relationships forming and was prepared to jump on a team, I love a good love triangle, but this was something else completely and it left me feeling a little icky,

Overall the writing is a 3.5/5, sometimes a little rushed but a great storyline. The plot is a 4/5 - A new story I haven’t read that was both exciting and mysterious and set up nicely for a sequel but with a few decisions that served the purpose of the storyline but really didn’t make sense or were just too drawn out and repetitive. The character builds were a 4/5 - I felt like I knew their personalities and could pretty much follow their decision making except for the main character Talia, at times, who I felt was a little too mature for someone who had been held captive from such a young age. She knew things about the desires of men and just general adulthood themed that a 12 year old probably wouldn’t have known.

I really loved this story until the end, I just couldn’t get in board with the indecisiveness of Talia and the men, and how easily these possessive, dominant men just brushed aside monogamy and were willing to share.
