Listen up, and listen good— I’ll only say this shit once!

Two Tricks does not work with MC gangs, and that’s final. Period. The end.

No. No, you don’t get to ask why. Tricks runs the West Coast smuggling ring, so if you want anything to come and go, you play by the rules. You don’t like it? Well, then you’re gonna get a visit from me.

Who am I? I’m Dax, his enforcer, and don’t let my height or the pink hair fool you. I’ll take your ass down.

Now, can someone explain to me why the hell the Phantom Saints MC gang sent someone to try and talk me into getting Tricks to work with them? Or maybe how those same assholes ended up kidnapping me?

You can bet your ass, as soon as I get the chance, I will make them regret ever having me as a ‘house guest’, even if they are sexy as sin. No one uses me and gets away with it!

Dont know why it has such good reviews

The high reviews convinced my to give this one a try, but I should have know better. Didnt really like anything about it, and I only made it half way through before giving up. The MC was lame, she lost battle after battle with these dudes, no matter if it was physical or emotional or mental. Also the punch first attitude was a bit much. I like my heroines to fight just as much with their brains as their brawn. I didnt find this to be the case with Dax, so I was disappointed. The men were horrible. I didnt get the attraction at all, it was so forced. How would anyone be able to form real feelings or even real attraction like that? 2 stars because I can see other people liking this.

I got this book recommended by a gr friend of mine and #cakeeater. Thanks for this S. It’s a great book!
This is not a typical Motorcycle Club book. There is a MC in this story but the FMC is not in this Club and she won’t join it, because she hates MC’s. I love Dax, the FMC because she is a strong, tough woman. She made a lot of a childhood in foster care. She is involved in legal and illegal businesses and has her best friend Weston in her corner at all times. She also has a friend, Harper, who knows nothing of the illegal stuff. They became friends in college and Dax loves her and she protects her too.
The five guys of the MC we meet, have a strange picture of women, but they are not like guys who try to use women or treat them badly. They are protective of their MC and care about the members, but also about the five founding members and leaders.
The story was short but oh so good and entertaining. I’m looking forward to the second book but it will take some waiting time, because it is scheduled for November 2021.

Annoying AF heroine; unlikable alphas

I'm sorry. I tried. DNF at Chapter 21.

Dax is one of the most annoying characters I've read. There's a very fine line between badass woman and Mary Sue. Dax isn't badass; she is reckless, arrogant, and immature. She has a multitude of talents, apparently, like tattoo artist, gallery painter, Kung Fu master, and enforcer for the biggest criminal organization on the West Coast. How? She's "five foot nothing" and doesn't train at all, doesn't carry guns or knives, and has no know-how. She doesn't chill and rationally think about her situation to solve a problem; she just lashes out. Let's get drunk, or throw some threats out, or pick fights you can't win just because. Also, she goes from, "I won't have sex with any of you," to an hour later, having sex with one of them. Make up your mind.

I thought Wes, her BFF sidekick, may be better when he rescues her from the MC. But our tech genius can't even check for trackers on an ATV. They kidnap one of the MC alphas (why?). For some reason, can't get an ankle monitor off (bolt cutters, anyone). Then, they get like, a few miles from the MC compound to just hang out at a "safe" house. With the kidnapped alpha. Who is awake. Like?? No! Keep going! Ditch the ATV! Get the monitor off! Don't stop and f*ck and profess your love; it's not the time.

All of the MC Alphas are anti-heroes in my opinion, which would be fine if Dax wasn't so damn annoying. I could learn to like Sprocket. The others, especially Eagle, are possessive and arrogant, but at least they can back that up with actions. They ploy to trick Dax into loving them, which automatically makes me not like them, but it's mostly Eagle's idea anyway. Picasso at least has the decency to voice his dislike of said plan.

However, I'm lost as to why they went about approaching Dax the way they did if the goal is to become partners with her boss. Seems like kidnapping their right hand lady is the opposite of what you'd want to do to convince someone to work with you. Then, throw in all this drama with Dax's brother, this Cartel, and other MCs or whatever, and it's too messy. Pick one plotline and stick with it.

And the smut is mediocre at best.

I can see how some would like this, but I read too much smut to spend any more time on something I'm not enjoying.

Okay, what? No. NO. I don't know how everyone else missed this, but do the words STOCKHOLM SYNDROME mean anything to anyone?? So this "miniature badass" gets kidnapped, and what does she decide to do? Instead of something productive like killing them all and escaping, she has sex with the leader. Not in a like "I'll get him to let his guard down and escape" way, but in a "I was so overcome by the sex appeal of my KIDNAPPER."

Like what? THEY KIDNAP HER. SHE IS HELD AGAINST HER WILL AND SHE DECIDES TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM?? So she's a badass just cos she loses her temper when someone calls her a bitch, and has some skill with martial arts? If she's weak enough to fall in love with her KIDNAPPERS (I cannot stress this enough) just because they have abs and tattoos, it's an absolute disappointment.

I could not make it past 1/3 of the book. I get that it's fantasy, but she got kidnapped, then decided to just have sex with her captors because they were too irresistible. The way they talked about her was ridiculously patronizing. God help anyone who enjoyed this book.

It had a cliche plot and cheesy af dialogue, and the 'big reveal' was painfully obvious from page one. STILL, the way I’m considering picking up book two...?! What is wrong with me?

Two Tricks follows Dax and the Phantom Saints MC. Dax is the enforcer for the Hidden Empire gang, and the MC is looking for her boss to ask for his help to take out their rivals (or something like that?). They decide to kidnap Dax to convince her to set up an introduction - seems like a great idea, right?

👇 Here are your tropes:

🕺 Why choose
🏍️ Motorcycle club
🥷 Assassin FMC
🔥 Fast burn
🌶️ Spicy
🙄 Dumb names

I can see why people like this, but I can’t say I found any of the characters appealing and there are better books out with this story.

So good!! I didn't want it to end. Can't wait for the next one ^_^

Okay, what can I say about this book. It is a little dark as there is kidnapping, hostage situations, and gangs involved, but it isn't as dark as I thought it would be. A little gritty, she has a dark past and doesn't believe in love and while the guys are a little rough with her at times, they are also really sweet. Sprocket is probably my favorite with Wes being a close second.

She is a badass and will kick ass when needed. She's so cool! The guys are mostly an MC gang so they are more controlling and wanting to keep her safe, but she isn't having it. They might care for her, carry her, and want to protect her, but she knows what she is capable of and is willing to get dirty to protect her own. I wasn't expecting all the cute from the guys, nor how they were already prepared to share.

The main questions the whole time are Who is Two Tricks? and What will they think about what is going on?
I kind of had an idea, but wasn't 100% certain until the end, so when it is revealed I was shouting. I'm that into this book. Seriously, cannot wait for the next installment to see how this war is going to go down.

Elizabeth Knight, I bow down to you!

This book as absolutely brilliant! From the action-packed goodness, to the sexy dangerous men, to the fantastically bada** woman that is Dax...there was so much to love!

Elizabeth Knight has completely outdone herself with this book. It was a wild, action-packed ride and unlike anything Elizabeth has written before. This book is completely original and unique. It takes so many of the elements I love from MC and crime syndicate books and ramps it up ten fold with unique twists you never see coming.

Dax has to be one of my favorite lead female characters ever! I love how tough and kick butt she is. She doesn’t need anyone to protect or coddle her. She is completely and uniquely herself. She has her own style, her own personality and doesn’t take crap from anyone. But I love that there are ways in which she allows a select few to see the real, raw and unfiltered her.

Then there are the beautifully dangerous men...Sprocket, Void, Cognac, Eagle, Picasso and Weston. These men are all brilliant and dangerous in their own right, and there are only certain individuals who can handle a woman like Dax. Their protectiveness, acceptance, and even admiration of Dax is fantastic to watch throughout the book.

I genuinely cannot wait to see where this story goes, especially with that ending!

I’m reserving judgement…but so far I’m loving everything about this series.
My favorite type of FMC is a badass psycho killer, and Dax is *chef’s kiss*
Then all the guys are different but perfect for her.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes.

This is a new to me author and this was ok and I mostly enjoyed it. it's a reverse harem romance set against a criminal backdrop involving MCs and organised crime. There appear to be six males in this harem and It's very fast burn like excessively and that is probably why this didn't quite hit the mark for me I didn't feel that the connections developed naturally as they just felt so instantaneous that it affected the gradual story growth that I tend to prefer. I'm not a huge fan of insta romances and this had that vibe in spades.

If you discount the above component this was well written and easy to consume and If you like your FMC slightly psychotic and very capable with equal soft and hard edges this has you covered. Our girl Dax was a bundle of fury wrapped up In a minuscule package I definitely liked her unconventional look with the piercings pink hair and tatts but this did then have a this girl is not like the other girl's vibe as she's just so capable and bad-ass which I do sometimes find super irritating. It was also super spicy with plenty of red-hot heat which was a plus for sure.

This is the first book in a longer series and I will be reading the next one. It's definitely an entertaining fast-burn read but I will be withholding judgement until I've read further at the moment I'm not quite there yet but this series has some definite promise. On a side note I did guess the twist here so wasn't surprised when it was finally revealed.

******5 Bad-ass Stars*****

I devoured this last night in one sitting, literally once started, could not put down. It was so good. Dax is one Bad-ass Bitch! But, don't make the mistake of calling her that.🤣

This has multiple POV, is a fast paced, fast-burn RH, MC, addicting read. It is so good! Wait, I already said that...... it is so good!

The author, who is new to me, does a great job in giving the backstory of our FMC. She also gives us a decent glimpse of each of the men in the harems character and personality. Oh! Did I mention? The harem is slightly larger than the norm, squeeeee! This book is soooo good!

If you are a fan of Hannaford Prep and Madison Kate, you will love this story. Dax has definitely made it into my top 5 favorite badass heroines.

Seriously now, this story is really good! I highly recommend!

Reread in October 2021 still just as obsessed the 2nd time around!

OMG I’m completely and utterly obsessed with Dax she is one hell of a badass! Her character is so multifaceted I’m literally in awe. And let’s not even get started on all of the Phantom Saints guys cause dear lord... I just need so much more of each one of these characters! I NEED the next book in this series right now this wait is going to be hell.

Highly recommend this book if you enjoy strong badass women who take no shit, dark romance, reverse harem (6 love interests), and MC/cartel/city underground shenanigans.

Honestly just read this damn book you can thank me later!

This series start was excellent! I absolutely love it when I get to read about this kind of female character. Dax is the enforcer for the Hidden Empire, who is lead by Two Tricks and together with her best friend West, they run the city. When she is tricked into going to a party with her best friend and then kidnapped by a rival MC, her life takes a bit of turn. While there she meets the 5 leaders of the club. These men constantly underestimate her and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she would do next. The story was excellent, I didn’t want the book to end!!! And that ending!!! I knew it!!!

Don’t read if you don’t like strong female characters

I was really disappointed and couldn’t even stomach finishing this book. The main female character, Dax, started out as a promising strong woman, but gave in way too quickly. She literally had sex with one of her kidnappers barely even 30% into the book. Right after claiming she wasn’t going to become one of their “hang-abouts”. And I hate when the mental voice of a character is always like, “I wasn’t usually this kind of person but seeing that person made me suddenly change my entire personality!” I honestly don’t know how this has so many good reviews. I don’t recommend this book to anyone who hates fast-burn romance. I typically like a slow to medium build-up of romance, where the main character actually learns each of her future lover’s personalities before jumping into bed with them. I get bored when they just fall in love and into bed with each other so easily. Yawn. 2 stars for decent writing though.

Remember my less than impressed updates while reading this book? At that point I’ve been relatively sure I’ll give this book 3 stars. Max.

But then the last 30% happened and I. Just. Couldn’t. Put. It. Down.

Here’s the thing. I know that usually, when reading rh books, you have to squint very hard to overlook some of the plot holes or character behaviours. But even while squinting, and even if the story felt like something I’ve read before, and better (looking at you, Hannaford books), it was kind of unputdownable. I won’t reiterate the story - read the blurb or the other spoiler reviews for that. But if you’re into (very) tough FMCs and hot guys on bikes, this might be the book for you.

Yes, it’s trashy. Yes, there’s insta-lust. Yes, the guys have really stupid “individual” nicknames for Dax (little demon, little spitfire, little minx, shortcake, little badass - no idea why authors think that adds to the story…)

But I digress. If you’re able to overlook all that (and more), you’ll have fun with this book. And now excuse me while I dive right into book 2.

This was a solid read! It was entertaining, and i liked the way the plot unraveled. Dax is a little too over the top for me at times, and I don’t really love fmcs who have to talk their libido down, but she was competent which helped. I’ll check out book 2 to see where this goes.

Two Criminal Gangs

This is the first book in an ongoing series. The book does end on a cliffhanger but it comes at a natural break in the story so it’s not too annoying.

Dax is a tattoo artist, business owner and enforcer for a criminal enterprise, the Hidden Empire. She’s petite, fierce and very dangerous. She lives with her best friend/family Weston, who is also her partner in the tattoo parlour and with the Hidden Empire. Weston also happens to be an incredible hacker and their different sets of skills complement each other very nicely. Her other friend, Harper, was her room mate in college and is completely unaware of the Hidden Empire because Dax doesn’t want that to touch her fashion designer friend.

A lot of people have their eyes on Two Tricks, the head of The Hidden Empire and one group, the Phantom Saints MC, decides to take a rather unusual approach to getting Two Tricks to agree to work with them. Two Tricks never works with MCs so their unusual approach is something that may be the only thing that would work.

I’m not usually a fan of 1%er MC fiction and I’m definitely not usually interested in main characters who are ‘bad guys’, however, these bad guys aren’t as bad as they first appear, or at least they are shown as less bad in they way the author writes.

Dax is ruthless and crazy but the Hidden Empire’s smuggling operation also works as protection for the neighbourhoods in which they work. The Phantom Saints MC maybe a 1%er club, but they protect the families of the men they work with and they have a strict hands off approach to women and children.

There is plenty of violence in this book, mainly from Dax, but with the MC both they and Dax almost see it a weird sort of courtship ritual. The alliance that the MC want with The Hidden Empire becomes wrapped up in a personal relationship between the leadership of the MC (five men) and Dax. Dax isn’t overly fond of romance and has cut herself off from those kinds of feelings after the death of her twin, but the MC leadership seem to wriggle between her defences without her really noticing.

Dax’s relationships with Weston and Harper are her anchors, even though Harper is unaware of her criminal side. Weston, however, knows Dax better than she knows herself and there is no end to his loyalty towards her. I really liked Weston and thought he was an interesting character. Harper was a bit more superficial and girly and got Dax into trouble without realising it, however as she was unaware of Dax’s criminal activities it’s to be expected she might drop her friend in it without realising it, so I forgave her.

This book is high action, plenty of violence and tonnes of hot sex. It’s got a few interesting plot twists and I liked the craziness of the characters. The book is entertaining and diverting and the characters are strangely likeable despite their criminal endeavours. The book reminded me somewhat of A.J. Macey’s The Aces series in spirit. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for future books in the series.

At the beginning I thought the F!MC was pretty cool, I love kick ass heroines. However this quickly grew to frustration when she was outsmarted and outmuscled at every opportunity. It's hard to think of her as a successful enforcer when she so easily gets kidnapped and outwitted at every turn.

With one of the male love interests he's barely around for most of the book and we get told there is sexual tension but nothing is shown.

The other love interests... I didn't really feel any appeal with them. They treated her like a toy or a pet and were constantly the ones with power over her. I vastly prefer to see some equality, win and lose some of the battles.

F!MC's motives were also all over the place. One second she has a valid reason for hating MCs and she gives the guys a test which they fail. Then it's suddenly forgotten and she's fucking one of the love interests? It just felt all over the place.

This was just an exercise in being let down by the F!MC again and again.

This was really enjoyable, i liked the heroin Dax she talked the talk and walked the walk, if ya know what i am saying. I liked how fierce she was, her strong bond with Weston as they've grown up together. She did not change herself just cuz she had the guys , at first tho i thought for a moment that she aint that strong as she said, cuz she let them taker her. But in the last part of the book she really shows how badass she is, no one fucks with her. I am living for the blood and the violence, i am looking forward to read the next book.
The guys where good, i still feel we don´t really know them that well tho so i guess we will dive deeper in the second one.
The reveal in the last part, i did not see that one coming tho, but i can see why and how Dax could be the power behind the empire, yaas queen

Un-freaking-believable

I’m honestly struggling to commit to any specific words when describing this book because I feel so many things. Awe. Shock. Obsession. Desperation for more...

This story blew my brain all the way up and I’m not sure there’s a chance for recovery. Dax is everything I want to be and her harem is that of fantasies.

I honestly couldn’t have loved this book more! This is my favorite book of the year so far and I can’t wait to see how Elizabeth Knight corrupts me further with all of her awesome stories she has still coming!

Plot holes

I just couldn't move pass the gaping plot holes. I don't mind a few little ones if the story is good, but these are so integral to the main storyline that it was just painful. I DNF at 77%, the final straw was the use of cable ties. The FMC is meant to be this powerful and professional enforcer who is the main reason everyone fears her gang, and yet she was surprised that her captive could get out of some cable ties when left alone inside a house. And then just pouts about it. No thank you.

I am a huge fan of MC books, and I love Elizabeth Knight's twist with intertwining the FMC who hates MCs with an MC, is perfect. Our FMC Dax is one of the strongest, badass woman I've read about.

Dax is a lot of things, she hates MCs because one got her brother 💀, she owns her own tattoo shop, and likes fast cars and bikes. She also helped Two Tricks grow his underworld business, while he helped her exact revenge for her brother's 💀. She's also Two Trick's enforcer, plus her two besties Weston and Harper.

There is so much going on, between the different MCs, a drug cartel, Two Tricks, and all of the people apart of these clubs. It's really crazy how much detail there is between all of the groups and Dax herself. There's also a bit of drama from her brother's widow Kimber, she's just a wench trying to get things in her favor.

I am not going to give anything else away, it's really an amazing read! I love the story and plot line. I read book 2 immediately so I could figure out what was going to happen next. I also can't wait to see the guys and how everything comes together, and everything else that happens!

Dax, a pint-sized, pink-haired, enforcer for the premier underground boss, Two Tricks, has just been kidnapped by the five sexy leaders of the Phantom Saints MC. Eagle, Picasso, Cognac, Void, and Sprocket. It all started as a plan to kidnap Dax as a way to get a meeting with Two Tricks, to partner up with him. Then it became about making her fall for all of them so they could keep her and still get Two Tricks as a partner. In a short time, Dax does form attachments but love? Plus there's her sexy bestie Weston (Wes) who is desperate to find her because SPOILER ALERT, he loves her! Now she has six sexy alpha males who want her and want to protect her (even though she can handle herself) war with a mafia ring and a rival MC brewing.
I loved, loved, loved Dax! She is such a BA boss! She also had a soft side and a very sassy side. I love a MFC that can handle her own but also can accept help from others and let herself be taken care of. Now for the men. All six of the guys have that alphaness with a soft side for their woman you can't help but fall in love with. This series started off with a bang and I can't wait to dive into more.

There is a thousand of words I would like to insert in here right now to describe this book but I can’t use those descriptive words.

Knight has been on my radar for a while. The way she writes and tells a story captivates you from the start. Dax isn’t a pushover who wants a man. She uses them and takes them for her purposes. Dax isn’t someone you want to cross and she emphasis that heavily
Until her world is thrown into chaos.
Two Tricks doesn’t prettify the world of Mafia and MC. Dax gets her hands dirty more than anyone else in this book. She isn’t afraid and she takes her men on with everything. It’s surprising that they don’t fall into line given the way they get tested through out the book.
If you are looking for your dark romance fix. Don’t go past this book.
