Charlotte is a secondary school teacher and business owner in Boston, Lincolnshire where she lives with her husband and three mischievous cats; Socks, Mittens and Slippers. She has always wanted to write books for children, but until now, didn't know what to write about. Such a sweet tale

The lesson wrapped into the pages is one all children should hear-- if your friend is entangled in dangerous behavior, speak up.

I really enjoyed reading this. The illustrations are adorable, the storyline is relatable, and it provides a great teaching moment when read out loud. Great read!

Socks and Mittens Go Exploring by Charlotte Reynolds is a delightful picture book for young children aged seven and under. I found it charming, inventive and funny. The story is about a couple of mischievous kittens who venture out into the farmland beyond their garden and end up getting into a bit of a fix. Luckily, their new friends come to the rescue in a rather unusual way.

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my five-year-old daughter and she adored it. The story is exciting and it is fun to imagine the adventures that cats get up to when their owners are not around. The language is not overly simple or too challenging, but just right to keep young readers engaged.

This is a fun, light-hearted tale rather than a moralising one. However, it could be used to encourage children to think about how they can stay safe while exploring outdoors.

The illustrations by Rabia Arbab are cute and colourful, with lots of interesting details for children to notice. It’s nice to find a picture book that depicts the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.

I would recommend this book for any young animal lover. This is the first story in the Socks and Mittens series and I’m looking forward to reading their next adventure, Socks and Mittens Make a New Friend, coming April 2021.
