This is a Romantic Suspense. This book takes place mostly in Canada, but there are parts of this book that is in Alaska. This book is where the two main characters (police constable, Layke Jackson and Canadian border patrol officer, Hannah Morgan) is working to solve a child-smuggling ring. I loved the characters in this book, and I love chemistry between Layke and Hannah. Hannah has PCOS, and she is trying to work through the fact her doctor told her she would not be able to have kids all through this book. I also have PCOS, and I was also told I would not be able to have kids. I have three wonder kids, but it took a lot to get pregnant. I am glad to see a character that has PCOS. The biggest problem I had with this book is a guessed the who did it from the beginning, and I know where this book was going. I did enjoyed the action in this book, but The best part of this book for me was the characters and their internal issues (like Hannah's PCOS).

Abducted in Alaska while not my favorite suspense it is interesting.

The plotline was intriguing but the story was very dramatic and the execution of the plot choppy at times.

Border Patrol officer Hannah Morgan is on her way into work at the Canadian Services Border Agency in Beaver Creek, when she sees movement at the tree line. She stops and watches when she realizes that it is a little boy emerging wearing no coat. She grabs him to get him into the station so she can get him warmed up and talk with him to see why he is in the woods alone with no coat but before she can get him in there shots begin to ring out around them. Her boss hears it and opens the door to get them in.
Layke Jackson, a Constable on loan to the Yukon authorities from Alberta, he had requested this assignment. He was looking to bust a ring of child labor smugglers that had been stealing little boys from all over Canada to mine for diamonds. One of the boys stolen had been Noel, his nephew by way of his half brother whom he had just recently connected with and he was determined to bring Noel & each of the little boys home to their families.
While Layke and Hannah worked together to find these boys and stay safe while doing it they each realized that they were falling for each other but they were both scared to open up and share the secrets holding them back. Hannah knew that God had a plan for them and would not let this end badly. Layke finds his faith in the midst of this and begins to realize that God never deserted him, in fact it was he that left God.
Would they be able to let God work in their lives?

Thank you Darlene Turner for allowing me to be able to be apart of your street team. This was a great story that flew by!

If you love an action-filled faith based book then you are in for a treat! The moment you open this book, it is a nonstop rollercoaster of action. Hannah Morgan is a Canadian Border Patrol Officer who steps outside her station and sees a little boy running through the woods. She grabs him, but is immediately chased by kidnappers who want the boy back. Constable Layke Jackson is on the hunt for a group of kidnappers who are stealing small children including his nephew Noel and using them as free labor. Hannah and Layke team up to find the kidnappers and protect the small boy before it's too late. The bad men want the boy back and will do anything to get him including killing Hannah and Layke. Everywhere they turn, the kidnappers seem to be a step ahead of them. Along the way, Hannah and Layke start to have feelings for each other. Can they both learn to trust again? Layke has had bad relationships in the past and he isn't quite sure he can trust God. Hannah has just had all her dreams crushed and isn't sure she can trust either. Can this couple somehow open up and trust what they are feeling for each other? Can Layke finally trust God is there? Will Hannah be able to move past her bad news? I hope you take the time to find out!
I really enjoyed this book! Never a dull moment. I loved the interaction between the two main characters. Great chemistry and banter. I also loved how their protective instincts came out when dealing with Gabe.
I was an advance copy of this book, but all opinions are my own!

The second book in Darlene L. Turner's Border Patrol book series, set on the US/Canadian borders, is a roller coaster from page one. Hero Police Constable Layke Johnson and heroine Canada Border Patrol Officer Hannah Morgan are thrown together through an attack to try and find a child-smuggling ring. I loved the deep winter environment of the Yukon; the storms, freezing rain, ice-covered roads, and even an avalanche which all upped the stakes as they and other officers raced to keep a small boy safe and find others who'd been kidnapped. The themes of forgiveness for past family dysfunction, forgiveness of self for past actions, and forgiveness in the present for betrayal are all expertly woven through the story by Ms. Turner. If you love a solid salvation story, you'll want to read this book more than once.

Thank you in advance to the author, Darlene L. Turner, for providing a complimentary review copy. A positive review was not required or requested, and all words are my own.

When I got the chance to be a part of the author’s launch/review team the “Border Patrol” for this book Abducted in Alaska, I jumped at it. The cover is stunning and ominous – an SUV (Jeep Cherokee) on cracking ice? INTENSE! I get nervous just looking at it.

I decided to read Border Breach first to get the “feel” for the author’s style as well as to see if the two were connected. And, they certainly are. The events that lead up to this story begin in chapter five (5) of Border Breach.

In addition, the four characters are connected – Layke (pronounced “lake”) Jackson is a friend of Hudson Steeves from when they were teens likewise, Hannah Morgan is a friend of Kaylin Poirier’s from their teens as well. Hannah has faith in God, though it wavers here or there. Layke is pretty much like Kaylin – faithless due to the way he was raised.

Just the previous book, Turner’s writing style is engaging and descriptive, putting the reader right in the center of the action. And, there is no end to the action in this one.

Right off, Hannah is thrust into protecting a child, Gabe, from some people that abducted not just him; but someone close to Layke. And, it gets right off to a violent start. That is what gets Layke involved.

Already, I was thinking “oh, no, not again” when it came to putting this down – like the first one – another “day” book. But, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

Amid the car explosions, shootouts, heart-break, terror, and suspense; the reader also watches Hannah’s own personal struggles. Note/spoiler: those experiencing fertility issues might find the subject slightly triggering.

There really is no stopping – they’re running from people determined to get Gabe back, but why?

Readers are treated to a new character in chapter six (6) – Tucker. And, in chapter eight (8) – Madison. Could they be featured in the third (3rd) book?

They soon learn, much like the first book, that someone is following them – almost like a leak that is feeding the bad guys intel as to Hannah and Layke’s whereabouts.

Turner also shows some prejudice towards the CBSA by other law enforcement and it is interesting to see that dynamic.

The reader also sees a shocking secret about Layke’s parents. One I was truly shocked about. It explains his character so well. And, it is heart-breaking. And, Turner, in a roundabout way, reminds the reader and her characters that God’s ways are not our ways and his time is not our time.

One great, heartwarming scene involved Gabe expressing his wish about Hannah to her.

Getting back to the investigation …

I was definitely suspicious of one “parent”; I was also getting suspicious of two characters. I didn’t know what to expect as I kept reading. And, it does become apparent – even a witness tells them to watch their backs and don’t trust anyone.

As the case begins to take shape, the characters find themselves battling two criminal factions as well as … an avalanche as opposed to a tornado. Even with 13 pages to go, she really kept me on the edge of my seat.

Some suspicions were correct, others were wrong. And, the ending is beautiful. Readers of Border Breach are treated to a sweet “ending” for Kaylin and Hudson. Though I do hope we get more mini reports about them.

Turner’s second book is almost, if not, more exciting than the first.

As this is Love Inspired Suspense; there will be themes of forgiveness, redemption, and second chances. There are also references to God and prayer which are key elements to the characters and the story. This book was definitely stronger on the faith theme than most books of the line, which I didn’t mind.

Fans of the genre and those who enjoy the Love Inspired Suspense books are sure to love this book!! If you’ve previously read Border Breach, you’ve got to read this one!

Also, those who enjoy the series BONES will appreciate a fun little reference here. And, that cover scene? That’s going to play a part in the story.

I can’t wait to read Turner’s future books!

ABDUCTED IN ALASKA by Darlene L. Turner is the exciting, inspirational story of Canadian border patrol officer Hannah Morgan and police constable Layke Jackson.

Abandoned when she was a child, Hannah has always dreamed of being a wife and a mother. In Hannah’s mind, a few words spoken by a doctor had changed all that. Hannah is still reeling from the diagnosis, when Gabe, an 8 year old boy, runs out of the woods towards her while trying to escape one of his monsters. This monster of a man is shooting real bullets and out to kill them both. Hannah’s motherly instincts settle in and she knows immediately she will put her life on the line to save this precious little boy who tugs on her heart.

Layke is on a desperate search. After just recently connected on line with a half-brother he knew nothing about and finding a positive family connection, he was devastated to get a call saying his nephew, Noel, had been kidnapped while at camp. Headed to Beaver Creek, Yukon to investigate some child abduction cases in the area thinking there might be a connection, he hears the 911 call about the young boy and goes to investigate. Having a father he never knew, an abusive mother and a girl friend who was more interested about advancing his career than him had left Layke with no desire for any relationship or religion. He was determine to remain by himself – unmarried and definitely no children. So it was strange to find a fondness for Gabe and being drawn towards Hannah who seems so seeded in her faith.

With both Hannah and Gabe threatened and attacks on their lives, Hannah, Gabe and Layke find themselves trying to outrun and outsmart the bad guys. How are they always just a step behind them as if they know their every move? How are they tracking them? Is there a mole in the police network? Who is the main boss that has so many working for him? Why are they abducting young boys? Is there a connection between Gabe and the other abductions including his nephew? Will they be able to keep Gabe and themselves safe? Can they find Noel before it is too late? Can Hannah and Layke deal with their pasts and move forward? Could Hannah and Layke actually have a future together?

ABDUCTED IN ALASKA by Darlene L. Turner is a fabulously written inspirational story pitting the good guys against the bad guys with a defenseless little boy in the middle. The author not only tugs at your heartstrings, but she also keeps your adrenaline flowing as you quickly turn the pages all the way to the very surprising reveal. Exceptional story by an amazing author! You will be most definitely be delighted by checking out both. ABDUCTED IN ALASKA gets a big FIVE STARS! It’s just a shame that I can’t give it a 10.

Missing children. Car chases. Explosions. Child smuggling. Events in an exciting TV drama? No, they are all circumstances found in the newest book from author Darlene L. Turner. Abducted in Alaska is filled with non-stop action and pulse-altering adventure, amid the frozen terrain of the Alaska/Yukon border. Canadian border patrol Hannah Morgan's discovery of a young boy trying to escape his captors turns into a nightmare search for many other missing boys who may be victims of a child smuggling ring.

Turner has the unique ability to create realistic characters and place them in situations that are harrowing, but still believable! She also possesses an innate understanding of good versus evil, along with the struggles of maintaining your faith and trust when all seems hopeless. Hannah has always been a believer but a medical diagnosis has thrown her into a tail-spin, and Layke Jackson's past pain and abuse have left him with many questions about God's existence. Can these two wounded people find healing, as they race to find these kidnapped boys? Will they discover that God's Plan has led them both to this time and place?

'Wait. What? He was praying now? Hannah must be a good influence on him. Could he trust God with his life?'

Turner sends readers on a wild, suspenseful ride, with many surprising twists! I recommend Abducted in Alaska to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.

Abducted in Alaska grabs you from the first page. There’s no warm-up to action in this one, which I loved. Hannah Morgan steps out of her Canadian Border Patrol station and sees a young, coatless boy emerge from the woods, struggling to run toward her in the freezing cold and snow. She springs into action, and finds herself almost shot because of it.
This is Book 2 in Darlene Turner’s series, coming after a successful debut with Border Breach. We cross to the other end of the country in this one, on the Yukon/Alaska border. Someone is kidnapping children and using them as free labor. Constable Layke Jackson is out west on special assignment, heading up a task force to catch the child smugglers. It’s personal for him...his nephew is a victim.
Layke and Hannah team up to keep Gabe, the young boy who escaped, safe, but they keep getting hunted. Somehow the smugglers are able to keep pace and find them, no matter where they hide. They each try to fight a growing attraction to one another, because they both struggle to trust and open up to each other. Layke especially struggles with trusting in the Lord. Can Layke start to focus on the good the Lord is doing, even amidst the trials, and learn to trust in Him? Can he and Hannah become open with one another and share their burdens?
Read to find out. You will NOT be disappointed!

Hannah Morgan is thrust headlong into a high stakes case, when she rescues a boy named Gabe, who has escaped a cruel child trafficking ring. She joins forces with Constable Layke Jackson who has his own personal reason to put an end to the kidnappings.

Hannah has a big heart for children, wanting to have a family of her own someday. She does a great job with Gabe, bonding with him as they fight to take down the ruthless kidnappers. I admired her strong faith and compassionate heart. Hannah and Lake make a great team, and I liked how they both begin to open their hearts to new opportunities.

Overall, a fast paced read, with solid characters, one of my favorite being Gabe who is a courageous child. Hannah and Luke make a great team, and I loved getting to know each of them better as they opened up to each other. It is an engaging read, with plenty of action, but also more steady moments that help grow the relationships. An entertaining read for fans of suspense!

Abducted in Alaska, is Darlene Turner's second book in this series, following Border Breach. What an excellent followup. This story takes us to the Yukon/Alaska border and follows a child smuggling ring. Introducing Canadian border patrol officer, Hannah Morgan and Police Constable Layke Jackson who inadvertently come together in the rescue of a young boy who managed to escape from his captors.

This story is filled with twists and turns, harrowing chases and heart wrenching moments that are sure to have you holding your breath (I did). As all Love Inspired books, this one is also a story of faith and our characters' journeys in faith. The characters are well built, the story plot is seat of your pants suspenseful and the "who done it" just might surprise you.

I look forward to more great stories from this author.

Abducted in Alaska
By Darlene L. Turner

Could her night get any worse? After receiving news that has shattered her world Hannah Morgan finds herself caught up in a case unlike any she has ever before had to deal with. Working the Canadian border as a patrol officer has its moments but never before have the stakes been so high. Not only is Hannah's life in danger so is the young boy she found out in the cold.

Gabe escaped from his captors hoping to bring help to the rest of the boys held with him. Victims of child traffickers and forced into hard labor escape was their only hope. But those who took Gabe want him back and they are more than willing to sacrifice anyone or anything that gets in their way. And Hannah is most definitely in their way.

When a call for help bring Canadian Police Constable Layke Jackson to the scene of an attack he jumps into action. He's been tracking these traffickers and the case has just become very personal for him. Keeping Hannah and Gabe safe is imperative to his case and to rescuing nephew.

But someone is working against Hannah and Layke. Somehow their every move is known. With no one but each other to trust their mission has just gotten much more complicated. Can they find the answers they need before it is too late? The clock is against them.

This a jump-into-the-action book that will hold the reader's attention from cover to cover. I've never before read the author's work so I went in with no expectations and thoroughly enjoy the reading experience. Hannah and Layke both come into the book with a lot of baggage that has shaped them and is still controlling their lives. Their fears and doubts are affecting their relationships with those around them and especially with one another. TRUST. They both are worried about trusting others with their deepest fears and hurts. But sometimes the heart has other plans and trust is all they have left - they just need to put it in the right person - God.

Do you love page-turning excitement, a touch of romance, and no graphic anything in your books? Well, you have found that and more in Abducted in Alaska. So sit back and enjoy some Love Inspired Suspense.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - All thoughts expressed are my own.

This was a fast-paced suspense novel. Border patrol agent Hannah saves a young boy running from grown men. It’s with that that they learn he had been kidnapped or trafficked by them. Then he finally confesses things to them. Like he was forced to dig in a mine and they had a lot more boys there too.

Hannah is joined by constable Layke. Together they must solve the mystery, catch the people responsible, and find all the missing boys. Those missing boys now contain Layke’s nephew as well so the stakes have become even more urgent and personal.

When it seems that the criminals are always a step ahead of them they begin to think someone in law enforcement is involved and things get even more complicated.

This book was wonderful. It read really fast and kept me interested the whole time. I loved it! My mom’s heart really went out to the parents and boys though because they’re lost and no one knows where and the boys can’t get away. Oh, man. So intense and so so good.

I highly recommend you read this book. Then come back and tell me what you thought.

Abducted in Alaska by Darlene L. Turner is part of the Love Inspired Suspense line. This book will grab your attention on page one and keep it through out the entire book. This is the first book that I have read by this author - and it will not be my last. In this book we see Canadian Border Patrol agent Hannah Morgan. She is able to save a boy from his captors - however she finds herself right in the middle of a child smuggling ring. When she grabs the boy who is wandering alone shots start ringing out immediately. Her boss, Layke Jackson opens the door when he hears the shots. He has been trying to derail the smuggling ring for awhile. While he has taken an oath with the police constable, he also has a personal reason for wanting to stop it. His nephew has been stolen. Hannah and Layke work closely together to bust the ring wide open. There is so much going on throughout the book you will not want it to end.

The author did a great job in writing a suspenseful story. My heart was pounding throughout the entire book. She also did a great job in creating a real feeling love story with Hannah and Layke. She also seems to know a lot about the Canadian Border patrol. I felt like I learned a lot about it.

Abducted in Alaska by Darlene L. Turner is a Love Inspired Suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Hannah Morgan and Layke Jackson combine forces to protect a child and rescue more. All while trying to stay alive themselves.

What I loved most about this book is that it takes place in Canada, specifically along the Canadian-Alaska border. Both Hannah and Layke are in Canadian law enforcement, too. This adds a unique touch to the story that I found incredibly fascinating.

The story itself had many twists and turns. Explosions, gun battles, car chases. All the events that make for an exciting read. The story is about rescuing abducted children, so I would add a trigger warning for readers sensitive to that topic. Seeing the parents’s heartbreak is challenging and Hannah and Layke also have personal backgrounds that include infertility and abuse.

If you’re looking for an exciting story that takes place in a unique place, check out Abducted in Alaska. The wintery setting is perfect for such a daring story.

From the opening pages of Abducted in Alaska, Hannah’s and Layke’s lives are in danger as they join together to protect a little boy and find other children. Criminals hunting you down is bad enough, but when you add in the dangers of a Yukon winter, there’s danger at every turn.

I like a book that keeps me guessing, and Darlene L. Turner excels at it until the very end. Sure, I suspected some people, but that kept shifting as the story continued and I just couldn’t nail down who was behind everything.

Hannah and Layke both have some big issues from their pasts and had different reactions to them. Hannah clung to God while Layke blamed Him. Yet, we see how God pursued him through much of this book by placing people in his life to encourage him toward faith.

Turner gives readers a peek into Canadian law enforcement and the beautiful country along the Yukon/Alaskan border. And once you start Abducted in Alaska, you will not want to put it down again until the end.

Are they strong enough to survive...?

Darlene L. Turner may be a new name in Love Inspired Suspense but she's definitely not one to pass over. Not only does she have the romantic suspense genre down pat but she also is one of the very few to use a (partial) Canadian setting for her stories.

Abducted In Alaska has two of the best locations for a Love Inspired Suspense novel that I've read about in recent months, Alaska and the Canadian province of Yukon. What could amp up the danger better than the frozen north in winter?! And hey, you also can't beat a story with some Siberian Husky sled dogs as side characters!

Darlene L. Turner takes on a pretty difficult crime topic in Abducted In Alaska, child trafficking. It's an ever increasing problem in the world and Darlene L. Turner does a great job drawing awareness through the medium of romantic suspense fiction.

Abducted In Alaska was a great read with lots of thrills and plenty of cold Canadian wintry chills. If you are a Love Inspired Suspense fan it's a must read...

What a suspenseful story!
This description from the first page immediately drew me into the book:

“Movement at the tree line caught her eye, jarring her from the winter conditions. What was that? She pulled her flashlight from her pocket and shone it toward the woods. A young boy emerged from the tree line, stumbling through the blizzard...coatless. He fell face-first into the deep fresh-fallen snow.”

Can’t you just feel the freezing cold and the desperation in that scene? From this point in the story, there’s never a chance to catch your breath as the action is non-stop. As Hannah and Layke give their best efforts to protect Gabe, they realize that the circumstances surrounding Gabe’s kidnapping is the first clue in uncovering a wide range of criminal intent.

The characters of Hannah and Layke both have compelling backstories which add interest to the story. Darlene Turner’s books are intriguing, and always have a thread of faith that adds light and hope to the story.

I read this book in one night because the drama and situations were non stop and intense and I couldn't take a break from reading or something bad would happen. LOL

From the very beginning of chapter 1 there were shootings, explosions, running away, rescuing kids, finding a possible mole... so much suspense and action. Unpredictable story line and great strong characters. I never would have guessed the ending or the reasons why. I had a suspicion but I didn't think I was right.

I really liked Hannah and Layke and how they worked together and how they protected each other. It was devastating to read about the child kidnappings and Layke's growing up; and how kids can be neglected, unloved and abused. I'm glad those parts were not specific or graphic.

Great Christian story with a little bit of clean romance, no graphic violence.

I received the e-book, early, from Darlene Turner to be her book reviewer. I love it. It is very suspenseful. There is a chase scene in it, common in Love Inspired Suspense books, and I was so into the scene that when my barked I jumped and my phone flew out of my hand and across the room. Hold tight to your book or ereader on this one folks.
Hannah's and Layke'e romance has to work It's way through past struggles that they both have had in life. I like how Darlene brought that across.
This book has a WOW factor for sure. But don't take my word for it. Find out for yourself when you read it.

Take a deep breath, because you’re going to be holding it for this story! Turner dives into the action from chapter one, and the adventure rarely lets up in this romantic suspense about a child trafficking ring in Alaska and the dynamic duo who sets out to end it. The chemistry between Layke and Hannah is electric, but their own personal fears and past demons threaten to keep them separate for good. I appreciate how Turner dealt with one character’s childhood trauma and the other’s struggle of infertility in a sensitive way while offering both characters hope for the future. I look forward to reading more by this author soon.

Abducted in Alaska
Darlene L. Turner

If you want a story that has unending suspense, terror, and action, then this is it. Someone has to be feeding the bad guys information. Is it a Border Patrol agent or a Canadian constable? Who can Layke and Hannah trust to keep them safe? Every time they go somewhere the bad guys show up. Will they be able to save the boys who have been abducted?
It is surprise after surprise that has you not being able to put it down.
I have to say I never saw the ending coming.

I love books where page one enters and bam, action begins! Thats one thing I love about Christian Suspense. Darlene Turner didnt disappoint in her new read, Abductef in Alaska. I lived in Alaska so this book was intetesting location to read. Hannah is a Canadian Border Patrol officer and is looking for a ring of child abductors. She has the help of an officer by the name of Layke. The read is full of nonstop action, stories of faith and redemption, beautiful scenary to dream of and a great understanding of child abduction rings and Border Patrols!

This book has a positive message thru constable Layke Jackson. You can choose to let your past make you a victim or over time become a survivor. The author does a excellent job of suspense right thru to the end. What I found interesting was that there was two bad guys and who they are. Darlene does a excellent job of drawing you into the story and keeping you wondering as to what will happen next.
I like that Layke and Hannah find love but its given time for marriage to happen. Its a great story and definitely worth a read. Can't wait for the next one. J

Fantastic read. I loved the characters and the suspense. It was great writing, I felt like I was right there with them through every circumstance. Loved the way they sought the Lord even when they were questioning if there was a God who cared for them. This is a book I will want to read again. I was given a copy of this book by the author. Writing a review was optional. These words and thoughts are strictly my own.
