While short, this one was cute. I liked how Everly was just on vacation when she found a whole new world, one with magical creatures and a mate of her own. Everly fit in right from the start, so it was nice that she was willing to make the change to stay with Angel. With her a mate, a new business and friends all around her life is so much better.

Yeah, so the unicorn thing sort of did it for me....Nobody ask me to explain why that did it for me. Because I don't think I ever could. It just turned me to mush. He's a dude, but also like half the time he's a breathtaking, magnificent magical creature and it's a unicorn.

Y'all, I started out thinking Unicorn shifter romance was stupid, but like I really get it now. I mean, it is stupid, yeah. But also I love it and want to read about a thousand more Unicorn shifter stories.

All of the magical animals in this book made it so entertaining. This needs to be a Hallmark movie, because those magical animals give the story an actually exciting plot outside of the romance. This means that the writer didn't have to rely on manufactured misunderstandings to create conflict. I always like when the conflict is external to the relationship. None of that Anna Todd fight-fuck-fight-fuck cycle. Blech. We actually have a healthy relationship in this story. The characters enjoy each other's company and respect each other and communicate. Heck, they even team up to capture a basilisk before it can turn everyone to stone. A basilisk! There's a basilisk in this book!

There are also winged kittens, a teleporting chicken that they can't keep in its coop, a hawk that can break the sound barrier, a merhorse, gem toads, and the best magical animal, the dragonette Rock. Rock was so incredibly adorable. Not only was she a great plot device, because her appearing created the meet-cute between Everly and Angel, but she was also just so cute and sweet. Like a scaly winged little cat. I loved her as a character.

Another fun character was Raelynn. Her Toad Mahal joke had me laughing. This girl calls the terrarium for the gem toads the Toad Mahal XD She was silly and quirky and brought a really fun energy to the book.

I definitely related to Everly's struggle to disconnect from work. Back when I worked as a manager for a big box store I would get texts and phone calls all the time and it stressed me out so much that I couldn't ever just NOT think about work. I was glad she grew a pair in the end and told them to stop texting her on vacation. The ending where she takes over the restaurant space that kept changing owners was definitely obvious from the first time the place was mentioned, but it was still emotionally satisfying.

The one aspect of the book that sort of annoyed me was all the "horny" jokes about Angel's unicorn horn. Criminey, Chant, we get it. You really think you did some shit with that joke. This is sort of par for the course with Zoe Chant books though. Jokes are not good. But the writers so clearly think they're good, because they repeat their own cringey joke approximately a zillion times in every book. Damn lady, make your cringe jokes. God knows I do, so I can't judge. But could you just make your bad joke once, so I can cringe and forget it ever happened?

Aside from the awful repeated "horny" joke, I did really like this book.

The main characters had a sweet chemistry. They both loved animals and it was so nice to see them get their HEA. Angel and Everly both have solid character arcs. Angel learns to accept himself and feel good about who he is, despite being a unicorn who does not have healing powers. Everly teaches him to see the value in who he is and what he CAN do with his unicorn powers. As for Everly, she learns how to make time for herself and how to set boundaries between work and her personal life.

This book had everything I loved in a Zoe Chant book: it doesn't take itself too seriously, fun and magic, and a healthy relationship with a sweet and considerate male lead.

It felt a little like a Hallmark story, stressed out manager goes for a quiet vacation on a little town, finds the love of her life and understands that life is not all about money and decides to stay there to be with her love.

In general, the story is not that different for others, what makes it special is "the magic pets".  For fans of Zoe Chant and Protectors Inc., the magical pets are nothing new, but in this story we get to know where they come from, kind of, and we get to see a little bit more about them.  And everything is better with magical pets, this time is about a dragonnette.  And right, there are Angel the unicorn vet, and Everly the restaurant manager, a couple made for each other that is perfect together.
It's a really fast read, but it has everything you may need to make it an enjoyable one.

Eh

This is a very short, very fluffy, quick moving story. No world building, no character development, and the plot is simply "meet, fall in love, bam". If you're looking for only quick fluffy, you'll be thrilled. Unless you need steam to fulfill your reading wishlist. We see hardly any interaction between the 2 MCs outside of brief conversations with coworkers, a hike, and 3 second chats with friends. I was excited for a male unicorn shifter, especially as a veterinarian. But we learn essentially nothing about anyone or anything. And this is supposed to be the foundation of a series?

The great big outdoors
Amazing characters, fantastic beasts, cozy romance, and just a hint of danger and excitement mix together perfectly to bring this book to life. The author took the time to build her characters giving them problems and concerns that made them real to me, okay maybe not the fantastic beast part, but this is a PNR. The secondary characters were just as detailed as the main couple making me impatient to read their stories, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long. And the sweetness of the book drew me in until the very end. This book was a fast, fantastic read and I’m sure I will be reading it again soon.

Another quick light read that superficially developed an insta-love fated mate bond. It also introduced a bunch of side characters to intrigue the reader into reading the spin-off series, but weren't actually really helpful to the main couple's relationship development, which was a little bit annoying.

My TBR is huge. This story is one that I fell in love with the description, bought, and then got enticed by new shiny things… if you’re a bookdragon, then you understand exactly what I mean! The great thing about books is that they’re always brand new to someone who hasn’t opened them yet.

Unicorn Vet is the first story in the Shifter Vets trilogy. I am in love with this trilogy already, and I’ve only just begun. Angel is a veterinarian in an extremely small, somewhat magical town. He’s a compassionate man, with a magical touch with the animals that need his help. And did I mention he’s… a unicorn shifter? Yep. And this man who believes he’s all alone in the world is about to meet his mate when she brings a very magical animal that she found to his office.

Everly is the manager of a five-star restaurant. She’s good at what she does, perhaps too good since she’s supposed to be on a well-deserved vacation yet she’s constantly juggling desperation texts from those she left in charge while she’s away. This tiny town is exactly what she needs… beautiful woods, calming atmosphere, finding a dragonette in the woods… wait. A what? She has no idea what this adorable creature is, but hopefully, the vet can make sure that it’s okay. And if she and this beautiful creature have already begun to bond, well, she’d deal with that later… along with the sudden attraction to one handsome, caring vet. Angel has found his mate… but how can this work when they live far different lives?

This story is the reason I’ll always return to, or pick up the most recent Zoe Chant book (no matter which of the Zoes wrote it). It’s lighthearted, made me laugh out loud, worry a tiny bit, introduced me to some new magical creatures, and gave me a couple that aside from one being a shifter did the cute-meet, fall in love fast, time to meet the folks like any other couple without tons of drama. I can’t wait to dive into the next story.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

ANOTHER WIN FOR ZOE CHANT ENTHUSIAST A new sister series to the DEFENDERS INC & PROTECTION INC. double series is now a trilogy series I LOVE IT

5 hours outside the big city of REFUGE, is a small country town of La Puerta “the gateway” aptly named as it has a magical secret . A magical portal to a mystical place where strange beautiful magical and sometimes dangerous deadly cryptoids come out. A group of shifter veterinarian friends watch closely to catch them and heal them and send them back if possible.. but not everything always goes according to plan.
Angel is a unicorn veterinarian who is sad lonely but loves his job. While helping scared frightened animals is his gift, he is a unicorn that can’t heal…
EVERLY is a over worked, nearly burned out manager of a fancy hoity toity 5 star restaurant in the big fast paced hustle and bustle of REFUGE CITY. on a self imposed 6 day desperately needed vacation. But can she put the phone down long enough? Until she finds a tiny dragonette kit. (Like a full grown dragon the size of a cat) but that is actually the size of a kitten cause it’s a tiny lost frightened baby that can’t fly yet, somehow fell through the portal. But EVERLY needs to find someone who can help the poor winged lizard that can’t actually be a real baby dragon.. can it? So off to the local veterinarian. But when Everly & Angel’s eyes meet. Sparks fly and a unicorn gets er’ um ? Well? Horny!
No triggers , family friendly, stand alone, book 1 of a shifter vet series and 3rd series in a of a 3 trilogy of connected series. It can be read in order or not . Old characters from previous series make appearances. Come for the magical creatures stay for the awesome story & tales of shifters their mates and their magical pets.

Welcome Home!!!

Angel Rosado, a small town veterinarian and a Unicorn shifter. He was keeping his inner animal a secret from the townspeople. There was something wrong with his Unicorn which was why the others within the community of unicorn shifters rejected him. He shared the veterinary practice, Vets For All Pets with two other shifters (Waylon & Bryan). As soon as he met Everly he knew that she was his mate. What was a man to do!?

Everly Sawyer was a stressed out city manager of a French restaurant who was on vacation in La Puerta. She gave strict instructions to the staff to not disturb her yet they kept calling her with problems. On her first day she went for a walk when she happened to find a baby dragon. She took the innocent creature to the vet.

There she met the most incredible man she'd ever seen. They both hit off and they decided to go on a date. Angel shared his secret with Everly. They found out that they were very compatible. Loved how Waylon, Bryan and Raelynn welcomed her into the pack.

Angel finally got his HEA after waiting so long. And yes he found the most important thing that he'd been missing.....family!

UNICORN VET is a novel in Zoe Chant's newest series, SHIFTER BITES . It was fast-paced, beautiful and a fantastic read Excellent job by Zoe Chant! 5++++

Need a quick escape from the real world?
Don't want anything too emotionally depleting?
Are you just looking for a cute, fated mates, insta-love, unicorn shifter story?
Step right up, this is the book for you!

Angel is a sexy veterinarian who can set any animal at ease with a simple touch. Everly is a big city, fancy restaurant manager in town for a simple holiday; if only she could get five minutes without her phone buzzing. What will happen when these two meet after Everly finds a baby dragon? Sparks will fly, Angel will know immediately, and a date will be set.

There isn't much in the way of character development; the book just simply isn't long enough and takes place over a week. Despite the lack of growth, the characters themselves are absolutely adorable. I will forever love a good secondary character; don't ask why. But I think Isa, Bryan, and Waylon are amazing. The way the latter two show their animal traits even in human form is a nice touch. I feel like if the series continues, we might discover Isa has some magic as well, but it's not mentioned in this book.

While I loved the secondary characters, my F A V O R I T E part of the story are the various magical creatures. I refuse to spoil it for you, gentle reader, so please if you want to see what fun and inventive animals come through the portal pick up the book. It won't take you but a night and if you aren't smiling by the end I'm not sure what happened.

Pairs perfectly with a fruity drink and a yummy snack. And as always grab your favorite cozy blanket. Happy Reading!

Hooray! Cute overload alert. Everly is a busy, overworked manager of an upscale French restaurant, desperate to get away for a week, but chained to her phone because of emergencies at her restaurant. Angel is a unicorn shifter veterinarian who did not get the ability to heal like most unicorns, but does have the ability to calm any creature with his touch, hence his choice of occupation, dealing with both regular and magical animals. When Everly stumbles across a baby dragonette, she's drawn into Angel's magical world and discovers her true mate. This was a perfect little shifter bite to entertain me. There were plenty of adorable magical creatures (not just the dragonette) and even though the page count was pretty short, there was a real connection between Everly and Angel. After reading a couple of mediocre to bad romances, this was exactly what I needed as a palate cleanser. I adore shifter romances with mythical shifters and magical creatures so I'm off to check out the author's backlist.

This is truly an adorable sweet short paranormal romance. Are you like me and you swoon over baby animals? Then this book is for you. Full of descriptions of all manners of paranormal creatures, the baby dragon is my favorite but come on, a juvenile basilisk? Even that sounded cute. ha. But the key couple of this story, Angel and Everly also are great together. Everly is a restaurant manager on vacation and she meets Angel, a veterinarian, when she has to bring in a baby dragon that has attached itself to her. (Can we say awww). And they are adorable together, with Angel being less an "alpha" male and more of a sweetheart. I liked how their relationship progressed and this was a short and clean fated-mate paranormal romance, to which I received an early copy. I was also so happy to see a few characters from this author's Defenders series make an appearance (That is a fantastic series that is a must read!).

Great introduction to a new series

This is book 1 of a new series called Shifter Vets. It is set in the same world as Protection Inc and the follow-up Protection Inc.: Defenders. Angel is a unicorn shifter vet who treats normal and unusual animals. Everly is a restaurant manager on vacation who finds a very unusual baby animal that she brings to Angel's vet clinic. Things go quickly from there.

This is a shorter shifter romance, but it feels complete. The pace is breakneck and the tone is hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and no steam, just the suggestion of it. The characters are vibrant and endearing. I can't wait to see what happens next. This story ended with a suggestion of what will happen in the next one. I can't wait! If you like shifter romances with unusual situations, fascinating characters and no detailed sexy scenes, then this is for you. Enjoy!

A unicorn who finds his mate and acceptance in himself

I received an ARC copy of this book. I simply enjoyed reading this book so much. Angel always felt less than because unlike most unicorns he couldn't heal thing with his horn. He did bring calm and peace to others which really helped him. He finds his mate Everly who is a stressed overworked restaurant manager on vacation. Together they find love and acceptance with each other. I love love love the random magical animals that come through a portal. How fun to create animals that simply could be. I so enjoy magical animals. Having some of the characters from protecting Inc series was fun. I loved the shifter vets and the little girl Raelynn who is so excited and full of life. This book is a really nice, fun and quick read. You won't be disappointed. Read and enjoy!

A sweet shifter novella

I really enjoyed this sweet novella about Everly and Angel. Everly is in La Puerta to enjoy a vacation from her stressful job as the manager of a popular and expensive restaurant. Angel is a vet and a unicorn shifter in the town. On Everly’s first day she stumbles across a dragonette and that is her introduction to magical creatures. She meets Angel when she takes the dragonette to see the vet. The book details their journey to navigate their fledging relationship while trying to help magical creatures. Despite the book being short, there was some character development for both characters. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, real life issues, imperfect characters, laughter, cute animals, and so much love. Another great Zoe Chant book.

Angel is a unicorn shifter and a small town veterinarian. Everly is a manager for a high-end restaurant in the city in town on vacation. When she finds a baby dragon she takes it to Vets for All Pets where she meets Angel. She discovers that this vet practice actually has knowledge of magical animals/pets. Angel and Everly connect and fall in love but there are a lot of things stacked against them. Can they make things work?

I loved this book and really enjoyed all the characters. It's well-written and will pull you in from the beginning. I was absolutely enthralled and read the book in one sitting. Zoe's books are excellent shifter romances and I'm looking forward to the next vet love story. I highly recommend this book.

Love the fantasy!

I love stories like this one! The fantastic creatures that I dreamed of as a child are given life, and after I'm done reading and close the book, I sit back and create my own fantastic stories in my head. This is a good book, nicely written with likeable characters and fun critters. "Raelynn" reminds me of myself when I was young, any animal was fascinating and I wanted to adopt it immediately. I will say that from my parents' standpoint, trips to the zoo were hell, because when really young I didn't want to understand why I couldn't take some home! After all, the zoo had some, why couldn't we? And I spent hours drawing and reading about these amazing creatures. Obviously I still do! Lucky for me Zoe Chant is around, right?

Delightful new book about a unicorn vet

Angel is an unusual unicorn vet that can't heal with his horn like a typical unicorn. But he has calming touch. He meets his mate who is a manager of a restaurant in Refuge City and found a dragonette (miniature magical dragon).

This fascinating story has characters that are charming, unique, and magical. This fast paced drama is about the lives of vets who take car of a magical portal and he animals the comes through it.

Every once in a while comes a special book that is unique and intriguing. A place so magical. charming that is sureal; that the reader wishes was real; and that is this creative book. I wish...I wish...I wish...

I recommended this book.

Angel and Everly Mystic Animal Love! 3.75***** Spoiler Alert!

Angel, the unicorn-shifter vet of La Puerta, met his mate Everly and her rift lost dragonette, Rock. She was introduced to the shifter community and the town, plus assisted with the capture and return of a basilik. Yes she gave up her fancy, stressful restaurant to run, Coffee, in La Puerta... And they lived HEA!

Fair plot, with likeable characters, especially open-minded, unflappable Everly. Can't wait to read if Raelynn got to keep and tame the hellhorse. The theme of living life in the present courses through this novel. Paranormal/ romantic readers would enjoy this predictable novel.

I just finished this one and it was quite good. A story about a unicorn shifter named Angel who became a veterinarian instead of a doctor breaking the long heritage of his family. Instead of being able to heal others with his unicorn powers, he has the ability to calm with his touch. It comes in very handy as a vet. Our other MC is his mate, Everly. Everly is a non-shifter, or human, from a bigger city who has come to the small town for a vacation. She's the manager of a five-star restaurant with a long unpronounceable, or memorable, name. Plagued with numerous text messages about problems at the restaurant throughout her "vacation" she becomes frustrated even as she becomes enamored with Angel and his world.

Everly's vacation

Everly's is a manager for a high end restaurant and she's on a much needed vacation La Puerta. Everly goes for a walk in the woods and finds a blue and white rock in the leaves. She picks it up and it opens its eyes, it's a small lizard with an injured wing. She takes the lizard to the local Vets For All Pets where Angel. He sees the small dragonette on the exam table who immediately tries to escape into her blouse. When Angel looks at her he sees his true mate. Angel is a shifter unicorn his partners are shifters also. They care for regular and magical creatures. They are near a portal that opens to magical realm and magical creatures come through. They capture them and hold them until they can be sent back through. Great story and characters.

Another good enchanting read

Ah... who wouldnt love a country vet who's amazing with animals? Especially his own? And a city girl who needs a bit of magic in her life to bring it back to life? Mix in a smidge of a crossover, tiny magical animals and a helluva cliffhanger (Haha read it and you'll get the joke ;)) and you get another trip down the road that is a zoe chant shifter book. I do dearly love how the characters each have their own little quirks, and arent all picture perfect (unless you're a unicorn lol). Really enjoyed this book, and look forward to more in this series, with hopefully more crossovers!!

Different short sweet shifter romance,

This leaves all kinds of possible ways for a series to go.
The manager of classy 5 star Restaurant, comes to town looking for a stress free vacation, between panicked text from work, she finds magical creatures, Shifters and a portal threw which the creatures come.
Angel returning from a call of cow in a tree wonder's about his future, not knowing he's about to have it come right to him, along with a baby dragonett and a beautiful woman who is willing to accept magic and shifters enough to love him and help capture a dangerous baby Basilist.

Unicorns, wowza!

Lovely little book about Angel, a lonely unicorn veterinarian who doesn’t think his talent for calming his patients is as important as some other members of his family, and Everly, a restaurant manager who came to town on vacation.
She has a high pressure job in a town 5 hours away. The restaurant she manages is expensive and not food she’s interested in.
When she finds a baby dragonet she heads for the local vet practice and finds she’s the mate of one of the doctors.
I love reading Zoe’s books as a “palette cleanser” after a heavy book or series. They’re always fun and happy.
