Rights and Wrongs #2

All the Wrong Things

Rate this book
Sequel to "The Right Thing to Do" - Draco's POV. Part 2 of the "Rights and Wrongs" series.

Friday, August 27, 1999

They’re murmuring again. Trying to keep their voices low so the prisoner can’t hear. But the prisoner is fifteen feet away, and they are failing.

I wish they would take me out of the room if they need to discuss. Bring me back to the small room I was in this morning. But, of course, they let me stand in this cage in the middle of them. On display.

I pick a spot four feet in front of me and maintain my gaze. I don’t want to look at them and I don’t want to fall asleep. I feel a yawn.

“Mr. Malfoy. Your next witness is here. Are you ready to proceed?”

I almost smile. Do I have a choice?

This book is for you if… you're team Dramione and will defend them even in your afterlife.

Overall.
Do not read this fanfic before you've read The Right Thing To Do.

There are things in life you'll feel drawn to no matter the state you're in. Dramione is one of those things for me. It's gotten so far that I infected friends with my Dramione addiction. And I regret nothing. I've never really had the feels for Hermione and Ron ending up together. It's not that I have something against Ron. In my eyes, they just don't fit.

Enter the endless universe of fanfictions, where incredible authors such as LovesBitca8 write unbelievably intense and realistic works that feed my desire to dive into Hermione's romantic future like I can see it, too. I like this one for its slight political edge. Getting an intimate view of the Ministry-dynamics and businesses of wizards as imagined by LovesBitca8 was just as enjoyable as the romance itself.

Although there's definitely something toxic about their relationship in the beginning, I can't help but swoon over the countless moments that expose Draco as the helpless fluffy lover he is:
She’s the Brightest Witch of Our Age, why are there no chairs immediately available for her? [...] Granger is still standing next to the Weasly girl and will no one get her a fucking chair and I can hear Goldstein ask her about her job, ask her for book recommendations for his mother.

They've done something to her hair. Constrained it. I hate it.

Cornelia Waterstone must die. I haven’t touched Hermione since Monday afternoon.

What’s happening.
‘Fuck, we’re both such idiots. I hate us so much.’

And you'll absolutely love this fanfiction in which Hermione, an underappreciated ministry witch, will make Draco Malfoy see that he'll have the hots and loves for her until the day he dies. And probably after that, too.
Con:
fresh out of Azkaban and unaccostumed to society
mother keeps interfering
so does father
Pro:
definitely unterestimated the Brightes Witch of Our Age
their flirts
their determination

2 ⭐ This Draco POV of The Right Thing To Do was not for me

Word Count: 160,297 | Chapters: 24

In The Right Thing To Do , I struggled to see anything deeper than Draco and Hermione's physical connection. But now, I truly don't believe it exists. I'm all for their attraction and the smut, but I just wish his emotional interests ran deeper. It would make him seem more mature and less like a horny teenager. Yes, let's not forget he is 19 years old (lol). It just seems like he's 'in lust' with Hermione versus being in love with Hermione. But then somehow, they end up saying they've been in love with each other all along. Where did it go from lust to love? I don't know. That is the part of the story I was missing.

We also gain more insight into Lucius' manipulation. However, I still am not quite sure I understand his reasoning for interfering. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was he manipulating them to make Hermione realize her feelings for Draco? The fact I still have some confusion over the matter is just another reason why this story is not one of my favorites. Lucius' manipulation is a driving force behind the plot, yet it isn't fully explained, which creates a disconnect with the story. And if that really was Lucius' reasoning, it's weak and makes me dislike this story every more.

Overall, All The Wrong Things provided enough of an interesting perspective for me to finish, but I doubt I'll ever reread it. I'd probably only recommend reading it if you really enjoyed The Right Thing To Do.

Dnfing at chapter 8

Really not enjoying this. It felt like the author was trying too hard to recreate the story without making it feel too repetitive… and it wasn’t working for me.

In TRTTD I felt like Hermione didn’t feel canon… and now I’m getting the same vibe off Draco. Something about him just doesn’t feel like him and I can’t get into the vibe he’s giving off. —— All of his lines that were originally in TRTTD didn’t feel smooth and like they fit into each moment. I felt such a disconnect between his internal monologue and then what would come out of his mouth. I also didn’t like how it would blur over 3/4 of every overlapping conversation. I get that the author was trying to not be repetitive, but instead it made it hard to get into each scene and interaction, plus made Draco come off as uncaring and disassociated from everything. It made it seem as if he couldn’t care less about what she was saying, that he legit didn’t even listen.

I was hoping that this book would give me some insight into Draco and fill in some blanks I found to be missing in TRTTD… maybe make it feel less attraction/lust based and instead give me some reasons why they’re crazy in love with each other… and I’m not feeling like I’m gonna get what I want out of it and therefore don’t want to waste more of my time - especially because I already know where it’s going and how it ends.

And I really wish I read the auction first, because after only feeling meh about TRTTD and now DNFing this one… I don’t really have the urge to pick it up. Maybe I have a bit of ptsd from manacled and don’t want to do another dark AU… or maybe the small snippets I’ve seen about the Auction in these books and what’s gonna happen has just turned me off from the idea - but I’ve already binded myself a copy… so maybe I’ll give it a shot sometime in far future.

I don’t even listen to her words as she scolds me, condescends me. I watch her face and listen to her tone. And she’s glorious. And intoxicating. And just as I’ve always wanted her.
...
She tilts her face toward the ceiling and whispers, "God, I hate you."
I smile. "I love you, too, Granger
."

the question: "draco’s pov this book is going to kill me isn’t it"
the answer: is yes. mutual pining, dramione, hogwarts flashbacks are most likely to cause death. but the best kind obviously <3

Ahh, Draco. This fed something in me that I didn’t realize was starved; Draco in the first person. This was book number one from Draco’s POV and it did not disappoint. Is there anything better than a pining Draco? I don’t think so…

“I watch her eyes come to me again, resting on me while I pretend to read. She drinks in my hair and my face, sliding over my body in a way she really shouldn't do in a place of business, but then finally resting on the book in my lap, tilting her head to try to figure out what I'm reading.

Hermione Granger and books.

I release the charm on my eyes, and when she brings her gaze back to my face, making eye contact, she jolts and blushes, turning away. I feel a grin blossoming on my lips, and she looks back at me. She smiles back, like I've just asked her to dance.

Maybe I have.”

“Ask,” I beg. “Ask me now.”
“Why didn't you identify me that night. At Malfoy Manor.”
My body flows into hers, my hands braced softly on the wall on either side of her. She tils her head back, ready to drink me in.
I smirk at her. “It was the right thing to do.”

All The Wrong Things is a powerful companion piece to The Right Thing To Do, offering a grittier, more introspective exploration of Draco Malfoy’s struggles with guilt, identity, and self-worth. While The Right Thing To Do focuses on Draco and Hermione’s evolving relationship, All the Wrong Things digs deeper into Draco’s internal world, showcasing his self-destructive tendencies and the emotional fallout of his past. It's written in first person pov unlike TRTTD, so it helps showcase Drago's inner turmoil better.

This fic carries a darker, more raw tone than its predecessor. Where The Right Thing To Do emphasizes redemption and cautious hope, All the Wrong Things immerses readers in Draco’s self-loathing and his difficulty in believing he deserves forgiveness, from society, from those he’s hurt, and most painfully, from himself. Themes of shame, trauma, and isolation are central, and LovesBitca8’s writing doesn’t shy away from portraying the messy, often ugly reality of trying to heal.

Draco Malfoy is at the heart of this narrative, and his portrayal feels deeply human. Unlike in traditional redemption arcs where guilt is swiftly overcome, Draco’s self-perception is fractured. He engages in destructive behaviors, including emotional withdrawal, that highlight his inability to cope with his past. What’s striking is that these moments never feel gratuitous; instead, they emphasize just how much Draco’s pain is tied to his sense of identity and what he's had to do to survive and keep those he loved safe.

Hermione’s presence is still significant, but this story isn’t about their romance in the traditional sense. Instead, it explores how her kindness, intelligence, and moral clarity become both a source of comfort and a catalyst for Draco’s inner turmoil. She sees his potential for change long before he does, and their dynamic is complicated by Draco’s resistance to her belief in him.

Blaise Zabini plays an especially interesting role here. While often portrayed as laid-back in other Dramione fics, in All the Wrong Things Blaise becomes a sharp contrast to Draco, pragmatic, emotionally detached, and unwilling to dwell on past mistakes. This dynamic underscores Draco’s tendency to spiral inward, while Blaise’s presence highlights the different ways former Slytherins have adapted post-war. I loved him.

Narcissa and Lucius really shine once again here, it's so interesting to see their interactions with Draco, especially in regards to his father's expectations and true feelings. We get a much better understanding of what Lucius really wants for Draco, even though it's hard for him to because of all the pain in his past directly connected to his father. We also got more Lucissa moments, which is always bonus points for me.

What sets All the Wrong Things apart is its unflinching look at Draco’s mental and emotional state. LovesBitca8 excels at showing how trauma manifests, not just through memories, but in how Draco sabotages his own attempts at growth. His self-doubt is persistent, and his tendency to push away those who care for him feels painfully real.

The fic doesn’t offer easy answers, which makes Draco’s eventual steps toward healing feel earned. His progress is slow, with setbacks that feel true to life. The emotional payoff is deeply satisfying because it doesn’t rely on quick resolutions, instead, it shows that healing is an ongoing process that requires patience, support, and self-acceptance.

All the Wrong Things is a deeply introspective, emotionally charged companion to The Right Thing To Do. While the former explores connection and second chances, this fic digs into the raw, uncomfortable process of confronting one’s darkest thoughts. Fans of character-driven narratives, especially those that explore trauma and recovery with honesty, will find All the Wrong Things both heart-wrenching and deeply rewarding.

prolly

i do connect w this author’s writing style. not in the way every time i read her books theyre all fastpaced like it is with onyx_and_elm, but lovebitsca is still one of the better fic author out there imo. the story/plot are well thought out and the dialogue fit all the characters well. i love how theyre all portrayed in her stories but ugh DID THEY DRAG. there were actually parts i enjoyed so its in between 2-3 stars (for the whole trilogy)

All the Wrong Things is The Right Thing to Do from Draco’s perspective. I’m usually not a fan of perspective retellings of a story because they usually feel choppy as the original story focused so much on the main character that the love interest floats in and out of the story based on need. All the Wrong Things feels like a complete story on its own. Lovesbitca8 spends a lot of time showing readers scenes that Hermione isn’t in or isn’t directly related to. This makes All the Wrong Things feel like a cohesive story rather than moments chopped together.

All the Wrong Things, at times, feels like a completely different story from The Right Thing to Do as Draco focuses his time on his new business venture, his friends, then Hermione and what he does for her and her family.

My favourite chapter was chapter 17. Their first kiss was intoxicating to read from Draco’s perspective. I’m a big proponent of consent, however there are times when consent can read as clunky and pulls me out of the moment. Lovesbitca8 puts on a masterclass with this chapter.

Overall, All the Wrong Things was a delightful perspective retelling while offering readers more than expected. Chapter 17 is probably my all-time favourite perspective retelling. It was intoxicating. I am now ready for the emotional damage The Auction is going to inflict on me.

I am getting obsessed again with them, I read this massive fic so fast.

I saw somewhere in a review someone saying there was a lot of lust instead of love, and I have to agree with that on a certain level. Although I still really love them, from Draco's viewpoint, a lot of his 'love' for Hermione was lust. I didn't mind it too much, but I did notice it and couldn't look past it. Also, I think this fic would have worked way better for me if I had done a tandem read with the right thing to do. I forgot some parts, even though I read them back to back, these are just massive, so I forgot some parts when Draco's viewpoint came around.

Also, this fic was sooooo long, it could have been half as long and still as good, but alas.

AGGHH. So good. Yes. The amount of PINING is INSANE. It seriously broke my heart how in fucking love Draco was with Hermione from the start, and how much he had to compartmentalize it away just so he could protect her from Voldemort. The flash backs. The parallels between the first book and this one. Just SUCH good writing and it’s not even the one that’s most popular.

I’m so excited to read the auction rip me and my addiction to this

PS Draco is a horny motherfucker so be prepared to read him just fantasizing about Hermione for like 60% of this

I absolutely loved this! One of my favorite Dramione pieces. The original was great, but Draco's POV 👌 Including the flashbacks was a great move. The author (aka Julie Soto) is amazing at toeing the line between dark & hopeful, & writing believable, nuanced characters that move you. I can't wait to read more of her works.

“You’re the most perfect thing in the world.”

I honestly can’t get enough of Dramione. I loved this second book in the Rights and Wrongs series more than the first one. The first is based on Hermione’s POV but this is Draco’s POV told after Harry wins the war.
I loved how we got this side of Draco. His thoughts and feelings had me screaming. Which has me excited to move on to The Auction ASAP.

I enjoyed reading Draco’s perspective of this story! The flashbacks to school and parts of the war were interesting to read from his POV. The rest of the story was good but since it’s the same story and just different POV it was a bit repetitive. Still a good read!

I did in fact immediately start reading this upon finishing TRTTD. and that was a great choice. It wasn’t so repetitive as she glossed over a lot of the scenes we had already seen and added sooooo many flash backs that I loved. We got new scenes that were not shown to us in the first one as well. The writing in these is still the best. I think the romance is great, but it’s all the tie ins to the original books and connections that really do it for me. I found Draco to be extremely horny and physically driven which I didn’t feel in the first one but he still had a lot of sweet moments as well. This was just sooooo good. I’m sad the happily ever after is officially over, but so ready for the Auction.
