Cybil is the queen of bad timing. First, her fiancé breaks up with her days before their wedding. Next, she’s stuck going on a couples retreat in the Montana wilderness alone. And worst of all, now she’s fighting a growing attraction to the wilderness retreat’s rugged owner, Tanner.

Tanner has built his wilderness adventure service on a few key principles: never take unnecessary risks, never put anyone’s life in danger—and never, ever sleep with a client. The arrival of a beautiful new visitor, however, might mean bending the rules.

Two people looking for anything but romance may have just bumped into their soul mates. In the Montana wilds, any misstep can spell danger. Cybil and Tanner just have to decide if they’re brave enough to face their next adventure.

This was a great start to Aurora Rose Reynold’s Adventures in Love series. I’m not always the biggest fan of instalove, but when ARR does it, it usually works for me! Cybil and Tanner had such a great meet cute and story!

Cybil and her fiancé have recently ended things, but she’s already paid for a couples retreat in Montana so she packs up her things and spends the week there alone. Only she’s not really alone, because Tanner is there. One of the three guys that owns the company where the retreat is held. The retreat where these two fall for each other is only the first half of the book.

I enjoyed the first half so much. It made me laugh and I loved watching these two grow closer. The last half- learning to live in each others worlds (she’s from Oregon and he lives in Montana) was also great. These two had such a spark and I truly enjoyed their story. Definitely looking forward to Blake’s story next!

I really enjoyed this sweet romance. It was mostly low angst. There is a bit of other woman drama but that drama was not only focused on the the hero. And when it was, he handled it perfectly. You just know from the very start that Tanner is all about Cybil and no one else. I love that in a book. I want my heroes focused only on the heroine. I much prefer to see a couple deal with drama together instead of seeing it drive a wedge between them. I also really loved how Tanner was still that alpha male even while being completely sweet with Cybil. I loved it!

4 Cybil and Tanner Stars

This was a really enjoyable, sexy , heart warming (and racing) read.

Cybil is reeling after the break up of her nearly ten year relationship with her fiance Galvin. She decides to still go to the outdoor retreat in Montana that they had booked and initially feels awkward when she discovers it is a couple's retreat. Tanner is one of the three guys that run Live Life Adventures that organise the retreats. They are not some relaxing , take it easy glamping excursions...they are full on hikes that include walking up the sides of mountains and kayaking the rapids. There is forced proximity when Tanner gets Cybil to couple up with him and for the next few days they are sharing a tent...and body heat...

Cybil is a sweet heroine. She slowly stands up to people that have doubted her ability to fend for herself and it was good to watch her character develop.
Tanner is ex military and his character seemed as isolated as Cybil's in many ways. They both have no family of their own to speak of but both have made a family of their friend's. They go so well together and the chemistry between them is hot from the start. No one does insta lust / love like Aurora Rose Reynolds, she is the Queen of that hot , heart stopping initial attraction.

Good book with a couple of pretty dramatic moments that I was not expecting. There are strong secondary characters and Blake's story is next in Risky which releases in May 2022.
If you enjoy hot, protective, alpha heroes who are so in love with the heroine that no one else even gets a look in, then this book is for you. Tanner is so loyal and he is willing to change his whole world to be with the woman who is the centre of his world.

HEA? Yes. Gorgeous ending. I suspect we will see more of them in the next book too.
Cheating? No.

2.5 ⭐

The story lived up to its title because everything was rushed. So rushed that I didn't get or enjoy the insta-love, which I'm normally a fan of. The chemistry wasn't palpable, and these two went from 0 to 100 in a span of one week, but, tbh, I think the first time they met, they were already thinking about forever. How that happens, I'll never know; love at first sight, probably. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, this was a less than two-week love affair, and what they had felt so shallow and inauthentic to me. But hey that's only my opinion; other readers might say differently.

Cybil (26) went on this hiking trip that she planned months ago as a surprise to her ex-fiancé. But four months ago, the ex ended their engagement, and since then, she has been busying herself with her business to avoid thinking about him or the humiliation she's feeling because they lived in a small town.

There, she met Tanner (27), one of the hiking company's owners. And, because this trip was supposed to be a couples retreat and she was alone, Tanner became her partner. Spending a week together made them fall in love (unbelievable, but whatever). Then she had to go back home, and he went with her. The next thing I knew, they were dropping the love bomb and planning their future together. They've only known each other for 2 weeks, I think, give or take.

But Tanner has to go back home because of his business. And before he left, they agreed she'd be moving to his hometown, and they're going to start their forever there. They were separated for a month for Cybil to sort out her stuff. Oh, and when she finally came to his town she found out she was pregnant. 🙃

Overall, it was unconvincing for me, and I couldn't buy the romance between these two. I think 3 ⭐ was more than generous as a rating for this. I should've given this a two instead.

Book info:
- Insta-love
- Strangers to lovers
- Death of a loved one (Past)
- Health scare (heart attack)
- Suspense
- No cheating, OWD, separation
- OMD (see note)
- No V (h - 1 bf, H - said women were his "fun distraction from time to time" 🙄)
- Surprise pregnancy
- HEA (married with newborn daughter)

Note:
- OMD. Not really; this ex was the only boyfriend Cybil had, and he turned out to be gay. They were together for nine years. He appeared in the story to apologize to her, and they sort of mend their relationship, which is still not friendly but at least civil.

I really enjoyed this book, it’s a beautiful romance and it made a nice change for me. It’s not often I read a simple romance anymore. And the “simple” is not an insult in anyway. But between the paranormal, mafia and MC’s etc this made a welcome change.

I enjoyed everything about this book. Okay so it took me awhile to get used to the main characters name. I’ve never personally known a Cybil. So my only point of reference was Basil Faulty’s wife Sybil (different spelling I know) in Faulty Towers.

Anyway I digress.

I really enjoyed this book. All the characters were fabulous and I can’t wait for the next one.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.

Well I definitely picked the wrong book to come back to reading after who knows how many months I’ve been out of reading life! I don’t miss it with books like this one.
I don’t know who continues lying to this author that her books are the shit but believe me they are not.
I only read this well listened to it because the audio version was on KU.

Why is it that this author’s heroines are always too stupid to live? They always running off on their own and get themselves in trouble even tho they have been advised NOT TO run off but do they listen?

Now back to my non reading life! ✌🏼

This book was sweet and started out with a great meet cute, but then turned quickly to instalove and proceeded to bore me to death. The love story was nothing really, they just decided to be together after a few days and then had to work out the logistics. There was some mild side drama with other characters but none of it had anything to do with them together. I do have to say that I hated the friends in this book. They were supposed to be these lifelong best friends (Jade for Cybil and Blake for Tanner) but they were both unsupportive negative downers. I know this spins off into a series which includes at least Blake, and I gotta say, I don’t care to read it.
This is my first time for this author and her writing style was ok, and I’ve heard that this isn’t the best example of her work so maybe I will give her another shot. But this was so mundane, I honestly was more interested in Oliver and Lauren and their drama, what was with them, were they having an affair? Did he go back to his wife? The only interesting part of the story was them and we were left hanging.
Anyway, this wasn’t bad per sei, just put me in a sugar coma.

This started out great. I loved the way Tanner and Cybil first meet and it has a few of my favorite tropes:
Small town, forced proximity and a hint of forbidden romance.

The first half off the book took place on a wilderness retreat. I loved the scenery of it and the group they were travelling with, they really brought the story to life!
There was enough tension between the main characters and funny moments to keep me going.

Unfortunately it was very insta-love, which I guess explains the title but is something I don’t really like.
Next to that the second part of the book is after the retreat and even though this is where we get some fun smutty scenes, the story lost me.
It kind of felt like it would never end..

All in all it’s a pretty cute book, it’s just not my cup of tea.

3.5/4 stars - This is only the second book I've read by this author. This was a feel good read.

Feeling lost and alone after a long-term relationship is ended out of the blue, Cybil finds herself in Montana attending a trip that her ex was supposed to accompany her with. If only it wasn't a "couples retreat" she was attending solo.

Only thing going for her ... Tanner who she had a run in with it towns works for the retreat as a guide. Who just so happens to be chosen as her plus one. Little by little the tension and attraction starts to stir and heat up. It wasn't super steamy (not sure if that's the norm for this author), but I still enjoyed it. Tanner is rugged, strong and a protector at heart. He was just what she needed to help heal her broken heart.

It did end up having one of my least favorite tropes in it, but in this book I believed the relationship enough to have iffy feelings regarding it.

“Sometimes, you need to be open to trusting someone else in order for things to work.”

Synopsis:
Cybil booked a Montana couples retreat with her fiancé, who ended up calling off the wedding right before the trip. Determined to take advantage of a change in scenery, Cybil heads off to Montana to get some much needed time away.

Tanner is a former marine and a guide (and co-owner) at Live Life Adventures.
- “Blake, Maverick, and I were in the marines. During our last tour overseas, we decided that when our time was up, we’d go into business together. And since we specialized in teamwork and survival skills in the military, we figured we’d transfer that knowledge to the real world.”

When he meets his group and is paired with a “couple-less” Cybil, the adventure really begins.

Instant sparks and a wilderness pairing lead these two down a path where attraction can’t be denied.

My Thoughts: The following are my thoughts about this book:

* * I liked that Tanner didn’t cave to Cybil’s fears about their future. He was a strong hero with confidence and was willing to put Cybil first. He scored major swoony points with his willingness to uproot his life for her.

* * Cybil was a frustrated character in the beginning of the book (thanks to a town that looked at her with pity because of the broken engagement). So it was nice to see her real personality shine when she got out of the small town. Her willingness to be open to change was a big step and something I really liked about her.

* * pretty low drama between the couple. The drama comes from outside their relationship, which is the type of story I like.

* * This story got me invested in the guys who run the Adventure company. So I am going to read the next book.

* * writing was solid. No significant grammar / spelling errors. Pace was good and it held my interest.

“I’m with you, your taste is on my tongue, you’re naked in my bed, and it’s too late for visitors. So, yeah, I’m good.”

I enjoyed this story, my first by this author. I found the writing to be engaging and entertaining. I really enjoyed Tanner and Cybil - I liked them both as individual characters and I really liked the way they so effortlessly settled into their couplehood. Their story is very low angst but filled with these sort alpha romantic moments that swept me off my feet. It was a solid, enjoyable romance.

That said, I don't think it was a memorable romance. I can't put my finger on what it was - perhaps the way things happened so quickly with Tanner and Cybil's feelings for each other, or perhaps it was the noticeable lack of angst in the storyline - but something kept me from really being absorbed by the story and feeling it the way I wanted to. I enjoyed it, but it didn't always hold my attention and I wasn't always fully connected to it. It was good. It just didn't hit that next level for me.

Of course, that doesn't mean I don't want more. This book was filled with interesting secondary characters who I already am excited to get to know better! ~ Shelly, 3 stars

I loveeee this new series!!! I do wish they had more spice in it but what can you do..

Cybil is getting over a broken heart and still confused why her ex broke up with her. She did her time of hiding now shes going on this couples retreat and see what happens. On her way she meets Tanner and well he was annoying her with few things like taking her parking, her table and now her bartender  😆 😂 but to Tanner he didn't notice her at first but now shes on his radar. One time meeting nope they are Retreat buddies!! Tanner and his friends own the couples retreat and Cybil is Tanners "partner" for the next couple days. And boy the tension is up with them since there is a rule no messing with clients.
We get couple actives such as hiking, building trust having a annoying client flirt with everyone, and well some poachers who shot at Cybil and Tanner.
And we learn about why the ex left her.. which didn't cause any problem with them as a couple it just made them stronger (don't worry the ex doesn't want her and h doesn't want him).
I cant wait to see who's next!! Maybe Blake?? Idk who his girl is? Idk if its Cammy or someone else? 😕 hope it isn't Cammy because she already has a man.

Om/Ow drama(tiny the ex fiance and a client), no cheating, slight secondary character, sexy times, no virgins

Recommend-yes

Snoozefest

I really wanted to love this book, but it was a bit of a disappointment. The characters were kinda boring and the story and dialogue was a bit flat.

I actually wanted to know more about the bi*chy girl and the nice doctor who went on the adventure trip. Why was he even with her? She was not nice. It seemed like she may have even broken up his marriage. Their story was more interesting than the actual main characters' story.

Great Story

Devoured in one sitting, I adore this kind of romance. Minimal drama . A fast paced story that moved and had my attention.

Tanner was a great male lead, likeable. Alpha to the core. Great secondary characters with enough of a backstory that has you wanting more.

It’s a yes from me.

Really enjoyed this series started by the always dazzling Aurora Rose Reynolds. Set in the beautiful landscape of glorious Montana, ARR kicks this series off with a sweet and swoony story between a wilderness retreat owner and his newly single client. And I can already tell this Adventures is love in series is going to be a delicious adventure indeed- sweet, sexy, and fun.

Our heroine Cybil finds herself on a couples retreat- but completely and heartbreakingly single. Determined to move past her past pains and the pity of her small town life, she decides to lean into her time in Montana, where she has a super memorable meet cute with a mystery man- who steals her parking place and her table at the local diner. A spark ignites, so imagine their surprise when he’s the guide of Cybil’s wilderness group, and soon their chemistry can not be denied.

Aurora writes so compellingly about the spark. While instalove isn’t always my favorite in romance, ARR somehow gets me to believe that a single glance, a single moment, a single spark can ignite an intense and meaningful connection - that you can love at first sight. And I loved watching these two fall together, even if the meddling of other people and more tragedy for Cybil. And we get to see two people show up for each other and care for each other in ways that warm the heart and give you all the swoony feels.

Tanner is just so dreamy and charming, and I loved Cybil’s heart and strength. The “boom” chemistry is sweet and sexy, and the angst is pretty low. I loved Tanner’s unwavering interest in Cybil -his support of her is so sexy. And it was so delightful to see a couple weather challenges together, to grow stronger from the obstacles they face.

With gorgeous setting, romantic sparks, fun adventures, and a dynamic and intriguing secondary cast, ARR has the groundwork for a great new series full of heart and heat- and I’m looking forward to what’s next

Cybil and Tanner use a condom their first time.. but then ditch protection a few hours later in round 2. Cybil had recently found out that her fiancé had been unfaithful in their relationship… Cybil also knew nothing of Tanner’s past sex life (she just knew he wasn’t a relationship guy)… how was there no talk about getting tested or making sure they’re clean before they go at it bare?! Not practicing or promoting safe-sex is definitely a pet peeve of mine. Eww

Best way to try a new author is with a new series. You see how they introduce the characters that’ll be the next books’ heroes; how they create a new world; and, of course, how they develop a story and its main characters. And that’s how I discovered this author.

I was perplexed by when we start in the story. Most of Cybil’s drama has already happened, so that means a huge dump of informations, right before she meets with the hero. That’s quick. That also means that we don’t get to see much of Tanner and Cybil before they get together. Frustrating when one of the best parts of a love story is to see how falling in love change the characters.

But, in the same vein, the story continues when most stories end. They get together, they decide to try having a relationship, even if it means a long distance one, and… we’re barely mid book. At that stage, they usually have professed their love for each other. But here, we see them learning about each other. Their individual journey as well as their journey together. Though there was barely any conflict, I enjoyed watching them falling in love.

Both characters were compelling–Cybil who’s discovering how to stand on her own two feet, and Tanner who’s re-examining his priorities. They’re surrounded with friends and families that don’t get much spotlight, but who serve their purpose.

Chosen families are a recurring pattern in the story. Cybil lost her parents and found a new family with her best friend’s parents, while Tanner ran from his to create another one in the army, with the soldiers who became his friends.

A bit too sweet and perfect, but totally enjoyable as it is.

Quickie

- Series: Adventures in love #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #small town romance #ex-military #instalove #forced proximity
- Triggers: hunting and animal death, sickness, injury
- Main couple: Cybil & Tanner Carson
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + extra-sweet with a swoony hero
- – there wasn’t much conflict to keep the tension

*3.5* This book had a hard time figuring out what it was about. It was first a "finding myself by hiking in the woods" kind of book. And then it was a poaching mystery. Then all of a sudden it was the emotional angst of learning that your ex-boyfriend of nine years was actually the day you left for this couples hike without him. Then it was the most sweetest, unrealistic love interest I think I've ever read. However, he was fabulous, so it's hard to bash him even though he's incredibly unrealistic.

Cybil’s fiancé broke up with her, and now she was stuck going on a couple’s retreat in Montana all by herself. But she is determined and also living in a small town maybe its good she gets away for a while. So when she meets Tanner, the part owner of the retreat she is kind of amazed at her attraction to him. But spending time together and getting to know each other they cant seem to hide their attraction to each other.

Between living in the wild, illegal hunters, partner issues, Tanner and Cybil have a few things to sort. But what I loved is that Tanner didn’t give Cybil the chance to push him away. The story went fairly quick for this couple, but you don’t miss the romance, the attraction and the sweet, alpha’ness story we love from this author. If you fan of this author’s stories then you won’t be disappointed 😊I cant wait to read the next one which is a single mom story (which I love) 😊

Sweet story.
Low angst.
Small other woman drama with flirty married woman. Hero not interested.
Other man drama in form of ex fiancé who isn't interested in getting back together but wanted to talk about issues of their breakup.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Instant attraction but she is a client so some issues crossing professional boundaries.
HEA.

Yes! I definitely felt the *BOOM* with this one!

Rushed is the first book in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Adventures In Love series. If you haven’t had the chance to pick up this book and love small town romances with insta love and strong alpha male vibes, I highly recommend you pick up this sweet and spicy romance! I’m still kicking myself for not picking this series up sooner!

When your life crashes and burns in a small town, the gossip is never ending. Cybil has just found herself being the topic of hot discussion when she and her longtime boyfriend/fiance calls off their wedding. Cybil needs a fresh start and craves the anonymity that comes with a new town and new adventures. So she does the one thing she’d never thought she’d do. She decides to keep the reservations of the couples retreat she had planned. Hiking and camping is outside her comfort zone and she’s feeling the urge to do whatever it takes to get away from the sympathetic glances.

Live Life Adventures is Tanner’s baby. Everything he’s worked for is wrapped up within this business and running this business with his two best friends is a dream. There’s only one rule between the three of them, don’t get involved with a customer. That shouldn’t be a problem given they mostly do couples retreats… That shouldn’t be a problem until Cybil. There’s something about the girl and her ambition that speaks to Tanner’s soul.

When their instant connection sparks deep within their hearts, Tanner is about to realize Live Life Adventures may not be his biggest dream. That sometimes the moment you least expect it, a new dream comes in and paves the way for your future.

My Thoughts:

Holy Crow’s Feet! Right off the bat, I knew I would fall head over boots in love with this romance. In the deepest parts of my heart, I knew I’d end this book loving the story, the vibe, and the emotions. But damn, Aurora Rose Reynolds didn’t prepare me for the fact that I loved this romance even more than initially expected. If there is an emotion deeper than love, that is what I felt.

So let’s start with the characters.

Tanner was everything I came to expect from a Hero written by Aurora Rose Reynolds. This man puts his all into his craft. His devotion towards Cybil brought all the feels. I loved the fact that this man was true to his feelings. He didn’t let the strength behind the undeniable chemistry scare him into running and hiding. I felt all his emotions, and that’s why Tanner may just be one of my top three heroes ARR has written. Gah, this man has everything I dream of and that makes up the perfect book boyfriend!

Now as for Cybil. This woman is on a mission to forget her past and move on from all the sorrow that her break up has brought to her life. So imagine her surprise when she feels an instant connection to Tanner, the man who not only stole her parking spot but also her place in the line at the restaurant and her bartender. At the very beginning, she deemed him a pretty boy who got everything he wanted. Until the very next day when she found out he’d be one out of three instructors…. And her partner for the couples retreat activities… GAH! I loved the fact that these two were somewhat forced in proximity. There start wasn’t pleasant but everything that happened had a reason behind it. And Cybil was forced to let her guard down and get to know Tanner.

I’m not lying when I say, My heart felt every moment!! It’s been a long time since I felt the infamous BOOM that Aurora Rose Reynolds is known for…. And Rushed brought it all back to me! I felt that BOOM and I felt it hard! I honestly can’t wait to see what the next two books in the series bring! Bring on the next one! Hopefully Risked brings the BOOM even more!!

When Cybil’s fiancé ends their decade long relationship out of the blue, she feels a little lost in love & in life. So she decides to leave Oregon and attend a weeklong couples retreat in Montana that she was supposed to attend with her (now) ex-fiancé. That’s where Cybil meets Tanner, one of the adventure guides and co-owner of the tour company.

Over the weeklong trip, Cybil & Tanner couple up and not only get to share once in a lifetime experiences together, but they end up sharing one tent the whole time too. The tension builds between them and by the end of their trip, they’re both left wondering—what if they see where their instant connection takes them?

Rushed by Aurora Rose Reynolds is book 1 in the Adventures in Love series. This is a slow-burn, slightly insta-love romance set in the Montana wilderness. I liked Cybil & Tanner’s romance, but I felt like there was so much outside drama, random events (both mysterious & emotional) that ended up taking up too much time in the story, which ultimately took away from the overall focus on their romance. I think this story had so much potential, especially with the tent-sharing aspect. While I enjoyed this & probably will continue in the series, it wasn’t a new favorite. 3/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake & Aurora Rose Reynolds for my review copy.
