There are few publications out there written by modern shamans descended of an indigenous path, yet breaking new ground in celestial unity. Working with Tree Spirits in Shamanic Healing is such an offering. Based in an Earth-centric spirituality Shamanic Healing demonstrates deep knowledge of Aziz's relationship to particular facets of Nature, moreover gives open confession to his dynamic and ever-evolving bond with Nature, itself. While this book offers techniques and insight, it is more the spirit in which it is shared that is most significant. Aziz imparts a method without losing sight of the continually altering process of being an active participant in Nature. I don't find the writing in this book to be terribly strong or passionate. In fact, it comes across rather academic and mechanical in places. It is worth mentioning that this book falls into the category of helping one to cultivate a valuable shamanic perspective more than teaching a specific shamanic technique. The loving effort of having recorded the shamanic truth of holding one's experience loosely, regardless of method or outcome, is what makes this book so special. Comment Comment | Permalink
I agree with S Harrell. One needs books like these that speak to the non-logical side to cultivate a feel for the topic/s. Aziz manages that very well.
