Trust is made to be broken. After returning from a successful mission to stop the Attetsian uprising, Lux and Lia find themselves under threat once again, this time at the hands of their newest ally. With the full force of King Virram’s Trinity Guard set against them, they’ll have to fight their way through Val if they want to keep their family safe. But with the entire country of Kaldan against them, safety will be a hard thing to find.
This third instalment of the Restart Again series was probably the best one yet. It felt like it got the balance right between the plot/action elements of the story and the romance/slice of life elements of the story.
The premise of this series is fun. Our main character, Lux, finds himself in a new fantasy world isekai style. The problem is that this is the third time it has happened to him and he still has no idea why! There is also the fact that with three previous worlds and lives behind him Lux is getting frustrated about losing the folks he cares for in those other worlds. He is also growing tired of being caught up in the sort of Chosen One nonsense that has got him in trouble in his two previous worlds!
This third book had more slice of life stuff as Lux settled into his new home and developed his relationships with his new family and friends. It is a tad low key and slow paced but pretty fun. We also got a lot more progression in the development of Lux and Lia’s magic. Some action as well as some new monsters emerged that had to be dealt with.
It was a solid third book. Not my favourite series but it is readable enough stuff.
Rating: 3.5 stars.
Audio Note: I do feel like Alex Knox does a great job with this series. Decent general narration voice and very solid with the dialogue.
A book for those looking for more from their fantasy action stories, *Restart Again: Volume 3* does not look away from or gloss over the simple happiness between adventures. Between the stress of expecting danger where there is none and the excitement of building a house, normal life makes for a soothing and introspective backdrop that makes the sudden and startling violence of monster encounters all the more impactful. Of all the things that could go wrong in a book that deliberately plays with typical adventure pacing, it is high praise that my biggest complaint is that the author should have looked up more about carpentry and the perils of using unseasoned green lumber. This is an excellent book and I'd be very disappointed if the author left us without a sequel.
Long wait but worth it! I highly recommend going back and reading the last chapter or so of vol2 to get into the right headspace for the beginning of vol3, because it stokes all the right emotion. There are some slow points and some unbelievable cheats (building a perfect house in four days, really??? Ugh) But this story shines when we're tired, feeling older than we should be, and pissed (or righteous vengeance) and we don't deserve that bright ray of sunshine. (I may relate a little too much to Lux.) I am looking forward to the next installment and where this amazing story goes!
I really was not sure where the author intended to go in this third volume. I am quite pleased. The author makes full use of an expansive vocabulary and crafts intriguing and elegant sentences. I feel as though this third volume was denser. Like I was enjoying a meal rather than a bite. I have emotional connections with all of the characters described therein. Most notably, this volume contained fantastic illustrations of the characters in pivotal moments. This is what I enjoy most in a light novel. I cannot wait for volume 4
I really enjoyed going on this wonderful adventure and sincerely hope it continues on for much more! Bravo Adam! I am indeed going to follow you on your various social media! I can't wait to read the next one, and full disclosure... I would LOVE to see this turn into something animated! There is magic here! My rating is really more like 20 stars!! You managed to make me feel like the little girl reading under the covers long into the night....magic is possible, and adventures await!!
This one is less bland than the first two books in the series, but it falls into the trap of making its characters too overpowered. A character more powerful than anything and anyone they will ever encounter is usually pretty boring unless it does something interesting on the character side of it, but this really doesn't. I gave the series one more book to get its act together, because there is potential here, but the author doesn't really seem interesting in doing that, so I'm not really interested in reading any future volumes.
I'm sorry, this just wasn't for me. The conversations are silly. The action was even sillier. Hardened troops don't just run away because you tell them to. Military scouts didn't have anything of value? Gear and weapons always have value. I'm probably going to be dropping this series as I can't handle this level of stupid from a character that is supposedly on his fourth life and had military service in them.
I wouldn't have guessed this is where it would all go after picking up the first book, but I can't say I'm disappointed. The dark energy is still present and becomes a centerfold to the story, past and present some together in ways yet to be explained, and MC's are together in a non anime/LN trope way(harem, obsession so far past the line of creepy that the line is a dot, etc)
I have no words to describe how utterly terrible this story is. I finished book two just to give this one a fair shake and I am sorry I put myself through that. The characters are broken, the story is forced and unbelievable. The whole thing is just bad, start to finish.
This book series had my interest piqued. By the time I read the second book I was excited to wait for the third. The wait chilled my enthusiasm to the point where I had a hard time reading anything. The third was definitely worth the wait though. Adam really know how to keep suspense
This story is kind of a mix of the Hulk and Quantum Leap. He is sent planet to planet to fight Void monsters. The romance is a little sickening, because I don’t understand how a mind that’s hundred of years experienced is acting like a teenager. Great Reading nonetheless.
This book was well written with great character development. The story progressed in a entertaining way with a nice twist at the end. Look forward to the next book.
The novel is a good length for the price and is full of great story and character development. This novel is full of action and the story develops smoothly.
I can put it like this. Pretty much every twist and revelation I've read from this book was unexpected and usually just left me curious to know more. I'm hooked.
This series is definitely not your usual fare. It is a fresh story unlike any I have read before. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good adventure.
