You were just aching to be f*cked hard, weren’t you, baby?”
“Yes. Yes.”
“And here I am, makin’ your dreams come true. So open that pretty mouth and thank me.”

Sweet baby jebus this book. THIS BOOK! And my ovaries! MY OVARIES! MY OVARIES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME...considering they even survived the inferno that was this book. I mean MY GAWD! MY. GAWD.

Do you know what I love about Eve Dangerfield? Her writing is a unique breath of fresh air. She writes these unconventional characters and makes you fall in love with them and her quirky brand of humor. I will never, and I mean, ever, get enough of it!
It felt like he was consuming her. The taste of his mouth, the press of his body. His scent was absorbing her like a black hole swallowing a minor planet.

Charlotte Bell is not exactly your typical heroine; she's a vegan yoga teacher with a very particular kink. Charlie loves to be dominated, overpowered, and sexually controlled by a man. The only problem? She keeps finding the assholes and the man that she's truly sexually attracted to absolutely terrify her. But with a pushy best friend and her manwhore cousin, the answers to Charlie's kinky dreams appear in the form of one sexy blonde god with a kink for pretty, submissive yoga teachers.

Degrees of Control was so much more than just a RIDICULOUSLY sexy romance! It had incredibly well developed characters, a fantastic plot, all tied together in a flawlessly quirky writing style. Eve doesn't just create characters, she makes them come to life and practically jump off the pages. Both Charlie and James are multi-layered with plenty of depth that you don't just understand their kinks, you understand what truly drives them. You get why James is hesitant to put his heart on the line and hides behind a cold, brooding and unfeeling exterior. You understand why a woman that may not have all her life together but still knows what she wants out of it craves the things that she does. And ultimately, you completely understand what draws them to each other like magnets.

This book was deliciously kinky, entertaining, perfectly paced and absolutely unputdownable. I loved every ridiculously hot page of it. Eve Dangerfield has quickly become my go-to author for when I need a hit of something different and sexy. Do I recommend this book? Do bears shit in the woods? HELL YES!

Australian Charlotte Bell finds herself alone in the US after finally breaking up with her abusive boyfriend. Fortunately, with a great circle of friends, they’re adamant about seeing her back on her feet. Which means dipping her foot back into the dating pool or just getting laid!

"You need to be brave enough to ask for what you want in bed. You need to be able to approach the men you want to fuck. Who cares if it doesn’t work out? You can’t be ashamed anymore."

Sadly, it's not that simple for Charlotte. Because where she is kind natured and sweet, she yearns for sex which leans towards the rough and harsher side of the spectrum. It’s not the kind of need one can easily explain. So, her friend’s throw her a coming out party. And the one man that has her salivating, is all kinds of wrong for her.

"He’s exactly what you’re looking for; attractive, dominating, slutty."

James Hunter is the wealthy, gorgeous playboy type that every woman secretly lusts over. The kind that is completely unattainable to the average girl. Except they get introduced and it’s kaboom…

"So many desires sounded crude unless you were into the same thing, and then they sounded like magic incantations, the keys to a world of pleasure…"

Charlotte and James may have a rocky beginning, yet sexually they are more than compatible. He has the capacity to fulfil all that she’s wished for.

"You want me to be that guy for you? That bad man that takes away your guilt and fucks you like the dirty slut you want to pretend to be? Say the word and I’ll make it as real as it gets."

But outside the bedroom, Charlotte is still your broke yoga instructor and James is the rich commitment-phobe. Too many self-imposed obstacles, however they keep gravitating towards each other. One will surely break…

This author effortlessly captures the struggles and triumphs of modern-day dating. It's awkward and messy but always rewarding in the end. With witty dialogue and characters that make you cringe because you’ve been there yourself, Eve Dangerfield nails it every time. Charlotte and James were perfectly imperfect.

This book INTENSE. A Fifty Shades of Grey and Bared to You kind of intense. Degrees of Control is a debut novel written by Eve Dangerfield. I must say her writing style is delightful and entertaining and it definitely worked out for me.

Degrees of Control is told from the perspectives of main characters Charlie (a yoga teacher) and James Hunter (a wealthy businessman). It started off when both of them met at the party hosted by Charlie's friend Sophia who happens to be James's cousin. The moment they met, they've already developed that irresistible sexual tension. Charlie has always been fantasizing about getting herself dominated by an alpha man and seeing James as a great prospect to make her fantasy realized, she decided that hooking up with him through a one-night-stand is the best idea. But one night of hot encounter ended up in more sexual encounters. Soon their relationship became more than just casual sex but something that rather involves the heart.

At first I thought this book is another one of those erotic romance books that are just about sex with no definite romantic plot but I was surprised to find out that it's quite different. The characters are likable and their passion for each other was there although initially they were just fooling around. The relationship and emotional development were admirable and I loved how the series of events made up a sweet, enticing love story. And well, James is one sexy man. Who could resist such guy? It is, as a whole, an enjoyable read. I am interested to see what the author comes out with next.

Warning: This book contains explicit sex and graphic language. Not for the faint-hearted!

OH MY LORDY!! CHECK OUT THE NEW COVER...SMOKING!!

A heroine who finds the courage to get what she wants.

I always find it a little awkward writing a review for an erotic book. First, it’s that sign I have to wave above my head saying – Stacey reads kinky books. Then if I actually liked the book I feel like the sign says – Stacey’s into kinky stuff. Let me make myself very clear… If I read about a rock climber, it’s not because I want to rock climb. If I read about a marathon runner, I’m not going to want to go into training (get fit?? HA HA HA HA HA). It’s just another world that I step into, take a walk around in, and see what that world has to offer. In Degrees of Control, I stepped into Charlotte and James’s world walked around and enjoyed the show.

I really, really enjoyed Degrees of Control. It’s not too often I come across a heroine who has actually worked out what she wants, owns up to it and attempts to get it. Charlotte has just broken up from a bad relationship. She’s an Aussie who moved to America to be with her musician boyfriend, and unfortunately, things end badly when he turns into a psycho, possessive idiot. Wanting to move on and finally find someone more suited to her, she admits to her girlfriends that she wants a man to treat her rough in the bedroom. Instead of laughing at her, they decide to help her find someone. One of her friends, Sophia, decides to kill two birds with one stone. She holds her engagement party and invites guys that might suit Charlie. Sophia narrows her choices down to three and one of them is her slut cousin James.

James is an ex-model, football player and a Southern sweet talker, who REALLY gets around. He is introduced to Charlie and is instantly attracted to her big blue eyes, lips and curves. Things get steamy on the dance floor and James is saying all the right things and making all the right moves. Deciding to take things to a more private location, they’re about to leave when James has a brain malfunction (too much alcohol) and she ends up telling him to take a hike. That sort of thing does not happen to James normally and he can’t get the blue-eyed Aussie out of his head. He ends up talking Sophia into helping him get in touch with her.

Charlie is heading back to Australia soon, but wouldn’t mind having some play time with James before she goes back. There are some very steamy scenes with role-playing, dirty talking and a wee bit of slap and tickle. James likes his Fairy Princess, Vegan, Yoga Teacher, Charlotte, and is ready and raring to go. They start to actually like each other and spend more and more time together. James is in unfamiliar territory. He realises that his heart might be starting to get involved and pushes her away.

The angst level in Degrees of Control is not over the top but there are some situations that annoyed me a smidge. James is a borderline alcoholic who’s dealing with the repercussions of a situation that happened to him when he was younger.

Maybe I’m biased because the heroine is an Aussie. Or maybe I just liked her because she was sweet, kind and not a pushover. I really liked the way she handled herself. The sex was on her terms and Charlie knew when her feelings were getting involved and handled it to suit herself. I liked James’s character too. He was definitely not perfect and I wanted to smack him a few times to snap him out of his silly behaviour. James has his issues and I really enjoyed seeing him wake up and get his act together.

This is a standalone erotic tale with a little Aussie fairy and a bossy Southern man, who know exactly what the other needs and gives it to them, in and out of the bedroom.

✧ 3 'very disappointed' stars ✧

going into this book, i kind of had high expectations but i was disappointed. the overall plot and storyline was great but i hated how big of an asshole the H was. he hurt so many people around him without actually meaning to, and he did that over and over again and that was the really disappointing part of the book.

from after their first encounter where he doesn't stop a guy who is saying shit to her and instead laughs with them to him banging a chick in the bathroom right after the mc's have gone down on each other, was something i absolutely hated.

though, thank god she sad some self respect when she left after he laughed with the guys who said shit about her.

the characters and their personality was unrealistic. he goes to a party where he drunk dials her and apologises. now, there is suspicion that he cheated on her but he couldn't confirm or deny that since he was wasted. i hate that bc cheating is a hard no for me, and not knowing the truth really messed with my head.

now, at this point, she is in love with him. but when she finds out that he may have cheated on her, she isn't mad. if anything, she is the opposite and continues to sleep with him. i'm sorry, but i though you loved him. and if you loved him, and he cheated on you, you should've actually felt something. but you didn't. like i said, unbelievable and unrealistic.

then the ending was weird and felt disjointed. the whole story honestly felt weird. i got where the author was going with the book but the execution was poor. even though this one didn't work for me, i'm looking forward to reading more works by this author, she knows how to write her steamy scenes ;)

I'm not sure if it's because Eve Dangerfield wrote my FAVORITE book of 2017 (Act Your Age) or because I'm such a sucker for a well-written book about kink, but despite having some problems with this one, I'm still giving it:

4 solid stars!
Charlie had never seen the paradox of her kink so starkly, wanting to feel safe, needing to feel abused.
The premise is simple: After a bad breakup, Charlie (Charlotte) - who's halfway around the world from her native Australia - confesses to her girlfriends that she has some serious dark and dirty unfulfilled fantasies. They come up with a plan to get her an alpha rebound guy to help her test out her submissive side.

So, Degrees of Control started out really well. The heroine was especially well thought out:
Charlie had never been able to marry her sexual needs with her peaceful, tree-hugging self, but in a new country, with a new life and new friends, she'd thought it was probably time to start.
Charlie and James have instant chemistry; everything about him turns her on...
He was a wolf and she wanted to get eaten.
...and she doesn't let him walk all over her.

But after the thrill of their initial scenes, I realized that I didn't like either main character very much. Charlie was just TOO...too nice, too understanding, too agreeable, too reasonable. I didn't think she was a strong enough foil for James, who was written so utterly convincingly to be a sleazebag.

Yes, believe it or not, I think the author did her job too well, because there was no doubt that the hero was an emotionally unavailable, immature, skeevy manwhore, who wasn't allowed to redeem himself until way too late in the story for my liking. But again, the author was just doing her job...because the reason for this was an integral part of the plot: their kink.

Unfortunately, I hit a wall here. You see, Charlie likes James to be rough and mean - which would be fine if there had been scenes that built intimacy between them after the sex, but there weren't. So, essentially, James' cruelty towards Charlie never allowed me to connect with either of them.

On the plus side, the sex definitely had its stellar moments.
It was like a dream, some fucked-up fairy tale orgasm that shook the dust off every sexual encounter she'd ever had.
In the end, I may not have liked the characters, but I LOVED the writing. That may sound like a cop-out, but how can you disagree when a writer comes up with a sentence like this:
This is what I need, she thought as she mindlessly pressed herself against his jeans. A drop of cruelty in a sea of pleasure.

When it comes to kink....nobody does it better than Eve Dangerfield. Last year I read her earlier 2017 novel "Act Your Age" and it was probably one of my most favorite reads of 2019.

She does quirky, taboo and sexy totally unlike any other author.
Her books are just so well written with some inordinately beautiful prose sprinkled throughout... this book embodied everything that I could possibly want from this particular type of emotionally intense and erotic story...it had guts, humor, a deeply satisfying love story and it was very hard to put down ....needless to say I enjoyed it tremendously.

Charlotte Bell was an absolute delight to behold...and I loved that the author chose to make her a vegan yoga instructor from Australia....she was sweet but not exactly a pushover either.
James was a little harder for me to relate to ....he came across as much colder, also hard and unfeeling at times but as the story progressed I found myself really liking this somewhat flawed alpha male....he vastly improved under closer scrutiny.

Not for the fainthearted ...but I thought this was a terrific read and I simply adored it.❤

I think this author has seriously become one of my favourite authors!

Although, I do really really REALLY need her to write just a smidgen quicker...

Loved this book, loved the story line, loved the main characters, loved the secondary characters.

And it was HOT! As in get your kink on hot!

And yes, the hero, he was a dickhead to start, but the little hints through out, that all is not what it seems! My heart just broke for him.

And the heroine, adored her. (even is she was vegan) She knows what she wants and she is damn well going to get it!

All in another excellent read from this author.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was awesome! I was hooked from page one.

“Nothing about me and her makes sense but I was so drawn in by her from day one. It was like I tuned into a radio station I’d never heard of and all it did was play my favorite songs in a row…” James shook his head at his own soppy metaphor.” 🥰

The story starts off with the heroine bummed out after breaking up with her jerk of a boyfriend, and she’s ready for a wild rebound fling. But more than just a regular hook-up. She wanted to experience a bit more than vanilla sex. So her girl squad throws her a party, inviting tons of single guys for her to choose from. The guy she is attracted to is… a well-known player. Some might say a bit manwhore’ish. He’s single, likes to have sex, but not looking for a relationship. He’s allergic to those.

So what follows is them hooking up, not for dates, but just sex, to play out the heroine’s rougher sex fantasies. The hero was more than happy to help her out 😉

I absolutely loved this authors storytelling, because she was able to take certain scenes that I normally dislike, and make them full of emotion and hot. Like saying ‘daddy’. She only used it one time in the story, yet for once it came across as so sexy to me. Basically all of the dirty talk felt natural, sexy and I could sense their emotions. Normally it comes across as corny, wanna-be porn in other books I’ve read.

She was able to make the manwhore hero not come across as sleazy to me at all. He does have sex with a random girl (off page) in the very beginning after meeting the heroine, but this was after the heroine left the party, leaving the hero to think he would not ever see her again or ever have a chance with her.

The author was also able to make this vegan, ultra-liberal heroine to be a likable, compassionate, and intelligent woman. I’ve been reading romance for about 30 years, and I definitely see that romance stories are switching things up these last few years, trying to be more inclusive… but in doing so, the independent, feminist heroines are too often written to come across as cold shrewish bitches. Not so in this story. This heroine was awesome, a well-written rep, and so easy to root for.

My favorite trait about this heroine… she doesn’t freak out when she picks up on the fact that the hero doesn’t share her new level of feelings. So often in romance stories, when there’s an agreement to fake dating, or hook-up only with no feelings allowed, etc., it happens many times that someone blurs the lines and falls in love first and gets all bent out of shape with hurt feelings that the other person is sticking to the rules of no feelings. But here, the heroine maturely accepted the situation, and I loved that!

There was a 3rd act break-up with the hero needing to grovel and improve himself, and this was my least favorite part of the book. I wasn’t fully understanding why the hero needed to apologize… maybe I’m just too jaded after reading all of these stories with alpha holes lately. We are told by the heroine that the hero needs to improve himself, but I didn’t read any actions of him misbehaving, except maybe his drinking problem at parties. But when the hero was acting ‘mean’, it was all part of the steamy role playing that they would do. But besides their hook-ups, they weren’t in a relationship and were single people and could act as they want.

There is a second book in this series, a novella, that’s basically like a big epilogue to this book. I’m going to skip that one, it seems it’s just carrying on the hero’s drama of needing to improve. Best to stop here with their HEA.

❝couldn’t stand the thought of you upset. that look on your face when i left, it nearly killed me, blue-eyes.❞

eve dangerfield romances really do hit different 😌

here we are a little over two years later and james hunter can still fucking get it. the way ms dangerfield really gave him the most nuanced character arc. he may have started the book as a slightly unlikable fuckboi, but damn if he didn't capture my heart yet again.

it was the way he was willing to put everything on the line, for me 🥹

❝even if you and me don’t get together, i’m so glad i met you. i was walking around half asleep and now i’m awake. that’s because of you, sweetheart. you saw right through me, showed me there was something better beneath the bullshit.❞

as for charlie, well … she is still one of my absolute favorite dangerfield heroines. my favorite aspect of charlie was the way in which she was never afraid to be anything other than herself. in addition, i loved the way she always put herself first.

❝whatever i feel for you, whatever you feel for me, it won’t work like this, james. i can’t love someone who makes me a distraction from his own unhappiness.❞

she also had this bone deep kindness that radiated around her. charlie is the kind of heroine that demonstrates the strength in prioritizing kindness and empathy.

anther thing that makes degrees of control an all time favorite is the truly superb communication between charlie and james. and yes, i can confirm that just thinking about it brings a single sparkling tear to my eye 🥹

overall, i think degrees of control is probably my favorite eve dangerfield story. while i do have a few niggles here and there, (namely the minute it took me to warm up to james), they don't tarnish an already shining book.

4.75 Stars ---> you know what I'm giving this 5 stars! I really loved this one!

Well that was hot. Degrees of Control was another wonderful gem from Eve Dangerfield .

What can I say other than this book was super hot, the chemistry between James and Charlie was off the charts, and I was honestly super invested in their relationship.

Charlie was hands down one of the most refreshing heroines I've read about in a long while. She.....and I know this will be shocking.....COMMUNICATED!!!! It was so beautiful I almost teared up! Not only did she communicate to James about what she wanted in the bedroom, but she also communicated about what she wanted with their relationship. That was so damn refreshing I cannot even tell you. It was so great watching her confidence in herself grow and seeing her take what she wanted. I just loved her so much! She was an actual strong heroine!

this friends clapping gif. is for you Charlie!

What about the male lead you ask? James was also great as our hero and honestly that man stole my heart and didn't let it go. Now did I want to smack him upside the head a couple of times? Hell yeah! But I understood where he was coming from and he always managed to admit when he had been wrong and do better! That is what I loved the most about him. He was willing to admit when he made mistakes and MAKE ACTUAL CHANGES!! His reveal about his past was heartbreaking but I loved seeing him realize he couldn't handle it all on his own and admit he needed to see a therapist. Watching him open up to Charlie and realizing that he deserved to have a relationship with her was beautiful. Also let's give a huge slow clap to Charlie for calling out James on his jealousy and him actually doing something about it!!!

In conclusion? Well if you're in the mood to read about a really great couple having super hot sexy times then I cannot recommend Degrees of Control enough.

***also I know I'm super late to this but I had no idea that Eve Dangerfield has decided to stop writing romance. That honestly sucks because I just really loved her romances! I thought her heroines were just so refreshing and her voice in romance will be missed! However, I wish her all the luck in the world in whatever she decides to try next! And you can best believe if she writes anything again I'll be reading it.***

This was a really good book. Charlotte" Charlie" Bell is a typical yoga teacher masochistic tendencies. Charlie left her home in Australia to be with a guy in a band Dale when she breaks up with him. When Charlie decides to explore her sexual kink her best friend throws a party to find her a man. James Hunter is a hot rich sexy alpha male. James is a former high school football player turned model who works for his father' s billion dollars company. When these two first meet they didn't get off to a good start. James decides to find her and they agree to have sex. This book wasn't like the BDSM books that I normally read it was more like rough sex with a little kink on the side although Charlie was submissive. They had nothing in common Charlie was a vegan yoga teacher who didn't drink. James was a hard drinking meat eating manwhore who has never been in a relationship. I really liked both of these characters. This sex scenes in this book were hot. James had a troubled past and when he started having feelings for Charlie he pushed her away. Charlie also tried not to catch feelings for James. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Eve Dangerfield's Degrees of Control was a hot, fun read and full of unexpected humour. Although this romance veered into intense territory with the sexual relationship, the author kept it light by injecting moments of hilarity. I loved heroine Charlotte and her girlfriends. Their banter made me smile so much. Hero James is the man all women fall for, but also the guy no one can keep. When he embarks on a no-strings attached relationship with Charlotte, he thinks he has it made. However, the vegan yoga teacher is unlike anyone he's ever met, and she has a few dark desires of her own. I will admit, I worried about James and Charlotte. I wasn't sure they could get past their hang-ups, but the author provides a satisfying conclusion. I will definitely look forward to reading more by Ms. Dangerfield.

The Romance Review

Who is this author and why have I not read her books before? DEGREES OF CONTROL is a light BDSM romance with character development and a fabulous romance. The kinky parts are quite hawt. Charlie Bell is a transplant to the States from Down Under. She is not a flower child per se, but she is carefree and vegan. When the reason for her adventures in the States come to a heartbreaking halt, she gets drunk with her girlfriends and shares her sexual fantasies. Lucky for Charlie, she has good friends. One hawt kinky no strings attached man meat coming up! Sophia is a good friend who can bring forth thirty plus eligible men at the drop of a hat. She reluctantly also includes her slutty cousin, James Hunter. Former model now businessman, James goes through women like fast food. He likes them cheap and easy.

This story is character driven and I loved the characters. Charlie is a fabulous sweetheart. She does what she loves and she is blessed with good friends and a loving family. She just needs a little bit of help in her sex life. Charlie is cute because she looks young and innocent. She is a bit bohemian, and her sexual desires is more in line with a ferocious tiger. She enjoys rough body play, spankings, a bit of humiliation and role playing. Her rebound sex with James delivers all of this and more.

James is a player who comes across as shallow. As he gets to know Charlie, the reader sees a different side to James. What I really enjoyed is how the two of them communicated. Even when James was an idiot, Charlie did not respond in kind. She is direct and gracious with her views. This type of communication is rare and usually associated with self-actualized people who are comfortable in their own skin. This is what makes Charlie so adorable. James' fumbling confusion is annoying yet endearing when his past is revealed.

The sex in this story is hawt. The role playing is smoking and well described. Each sexual scene between these two are arousing. What I like is that Ms. Dangerfield didn't push this as a BDSM story or a BDSM 101. Instead, she incorporates the sexual desires as part of the character in a natural manner. These fetishes are not taken too seriously nor are they completely disregarded. This simple acceptance is so good to see. The erotic power exchange between James and Charlie is fluid and effortless. There are no big struggles or fights to see who is the top and who is the brat. Instead, these are two consenting adults enjoying the mutual pleasures they share. Beautiful.

The writing style and pace to this story are all well done. There are natural ebbs and flows between the two characters. There is enough time between the spectacular sex. What is really nice is how Ms. Dangerfield demonstrates how a physical relationship brings forth an intimacy which brings the two characters closer. The descriptions of the locations are good. I could visualize the shanty town where Charlie lived compared to her friends' mansions and James' luxurious home. This is a lovely erotic novel recommended for kinky readers who love romance and role-playing.

Whew boy Eve Dangerfield is quickly becoming one of my top favorite authors. This book was crazy insanely blazingly dirty filthy hot!!! OMG it was so good! I loved James and Charlie.

James has a past that's caused him to be just a pretty playboy. He doesn't really care about much of anything, and he doesn't take things seriously when it comes to dating and women. But little miss Charlotte (he refuses to call her Charlie. Hehe) comes along and knocks him on his rear end. Charlie sees right through to the heart of him, and it really throws him for a loop. It unnerves him so much that he reacts by using their amazing sexual compatibility as a reason to keep seeing her. Excusing away the fact that he actually really loves just being around her. He doesn't want to get too close though.

Charlie is Australian, and she followed a guy to the US for a new adventure. When that ends badly she stays for a while to figure out what she wants in life. She's made some amazing friends, has a decent job as a yoga teacher, and genuinely loves where she is at the moment. She knows she'll have to go home eventually, but she's not ready yet. After her break up she finally finds the courage to confide her sexual desires to her friends, and they set out to help her find what she's looking for. When James is able to give her everything she's ever imagined was possible she decides to go into this without all the expectations that she normally would. It's just sex. Crazy amazing sex that she's been looking for her entire adult life. But when she starts to grow attached and dig deeper into what makes James tick it doesn't go as planned. She finally is in a place where she can stand up for herself and what she wants for her life with a partner. She's no longer willing to compromise her happiness.

I loved Charlie and her beautiful spirit. Her journey of growth was so amazing to read. And to see James fall in love and finally face his demons in order to move forward with his life was so rewarding. These two blew me away, and I adored this book so much!

Buddy Read with The Dangerous Book Club! https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

If you are looking for something off-the-charts HOT (Duh, aren’t we all?), then look no further. This is the book for you!

Eve Dangerfield. I feel like her name exploded, and I started hearing it from every single one of my favorite authors telling me to read her books in the same week! I was immediately intrigued when Tessa Bailey AND Skye Warren both recommended her books. When this book came up as the Buddy Read book in Skye’s Dangerous Book Club, I knew I had to jump on it.

James. He is the whole package. Sexy, southern drawl. He’s got the smile. He’s got the abs. He’s got the fingers…Got it? Good. He is the worst man-whore. And everything that Charlotte needs in a rebound. She recently escaped from a horrible relationship, and realizing that she needs a dominant male in the bedroom who isn’t afraid to give her some kink, chooses James to rebound her into oblivion. And yes. Yes, he does.

Charlotte. She is the tiny, vegan yoga instructor with big eyes and big boobs, and James digs everything part of her right away. I loved that she wasn’t afraid to tell him exactly what she wanted. I really enjoyed her character, especially the witty dialogue with her friends. I usually don’t care for “girlfriend chat” in romance books, but this was different from the typical and I found myself smiling that this small group of friends that watch each other’s backs.

THE DIRTY TALK. This gets a whole paragraph of its own. Because it was scorching! Dirty talk is my #1, so if you screw it up, I will let you know. And Eve NAILED IT. This book has everything I could ever ask for to make me hot & satisfied.

”You wanna get off easy, sweetheart? Sit on a vibrator. I’m not feeling particularly charitable tonight.” James pushed inside her, urging her thighs wider with his big hands. “This is how I like you, sweetheart. Mouth shut, legs open, your tight little pussy full.”

I’m just gonna be honest. Most of this book was hot, dirty sex (no complaints here), but the last quarter did not disappoint with bringing the feels. I loved how James redeemed himself. I couldn’t resist James during this whole book.

This was my first book by Eve, and I will be reading ALL of her books after this one.

CW: rape, rape fantasies

I was skimming Act Your Age for the umpteenth time when I saw Eve tweeted that Degrees of Control was out, so I one-clicked because I really need more hot reads in my lyfe, and BOY,

this book is So. Hot. I mean, Ty Henderson is still #1 in my heart, but James Hunter is a worthy contender. Degrees of Control really hit all my kinks. It's intense, super sexy, super kinky, and also super angsty.

Charlotte and James practically burned the sheets every time they got together, and they got together a lot. I love both of them as individual characters and as a couple. Charlotte especially is so darn lovable. She's so nice and kind and full of heart, and she has a quiet strength to her. I cheered every time she stood up for herself, and I love that she's so sure of her wants and needs, and makes no compromises. James is a messed up goose and I still love him despite of his arrogance, sometimes callousness, and cargo-load of baggage. I love the way he can't help but to care about Charlotte, because Charlotte is a ray full of light and he needs more light in his life. He can be such an ass but I think Eve redeemed him quite well. His character growth is quite admirable.

I love, love, LOVE Charlotte's friends. They were a hoot and I love that Charlotte has that kind of support in her life. I especially love Hayley, I love her energy and I'd love for her to have her own HEA.

Overall, if it isn't obvious already I love this book so much. The epilogue novella in the end made me cry and scream. BRB gonna reread it all over again-

This was a fast-paced, sexy story I enjoyed of a broken man who had issues (except in the bedroom) and a jilted woman that needed to be controlled (especially in the bedroom).

James is a rich, panty-dropping, sexy Texan, and a love 'em and leave type of guy. Charlie is a poor Aussie looking for a good time before her time is up in the States. When these two start on their adventure together they are in agreement for it to be what it is—sex!

I love how nonchalant and easygoing Charlie was, even though her heart was broken many times because of that. Now, James...he definitely was something else, and as I kept reading, and I started to put his puzzle together, I was blown away by what he went through at a young age. I know that has to be the reason he is that love 'em and leave them guy.

One thing is for sure, neither of them thought that the arrangement they had would be more but that's the funny thing about the heart—it's unpredictable. I did love seeing Charlie and James' relationship develop even though they both fought it tooth and nail.

Degrees of Control is sweet, funny, and had a bit of drama, but mostly the sexual chemistry between this couple had me panting like it was no one's business! Be warned: you should not read this at work or anywhere else people can see your facial expressions because they will know! ~ Kara, 4.5 stars

This was my first Eve Dangerfield book and I really enjoyed her writer's voice! The h was strong and went after what she wanted ... oh yeah (fanning self) and the H was sexy and smooth (love me a southern gentleman). The heat level about burned up my tablet. I look forward to reading another book by this author.

This was a miss for me. Sadly I was not a fan of the hero from the get go. There's nothing worse than a hero who sleeps with o/w after meeting the heroine. I like my h/ H to be devoted and loyal from their first encounter. Also the ambiguous cheating in Vegas? I think I'm a bit fed up with the damaged manwhore trope. The heroine was great but just too blinded by her infatuation with the hero and and their crazy sex life. On the plus side the writing was great.

Favorite Quote:
”So, daddy, huh?”
“C’mon. Blue-Eyes, don’t be like that. You kept screaming ‘more’ and it was the dirtiest thing I could think of.”

Charlotte (Charlie) Bell is a yoga teacher whose sexual desires play in the deeper end of the pool. She wants to be controlled and dominated in the bedroom. When she breaks up with her boyfriend whose need for control was everywhere BUT the bedroom, she goes looking for a partner to give her what she needs.

Enter James Hunter

James, a corporate suit, is a gorgeous playboy whose has some pretty dark desires all his own. When a relative sets him up with Charlie, he knows she is a little too innocent and too good for the likes of him but that won’t stop him from enjoying being the first to bring out her submissive side.

As Charlie and James embark on a sexual based relationship only, the lines drawn between them begins to blur and they find themselves

Degrees of Control is a sexy, sweet, humorous erotic romance by debut author Eve Dangerfield that focuses on the dynamics of the characters and their issues rather than the BDSM the storyline is built around. A fast read that flows along at a steady clip with just few stumbling blocks along the way. Heavily character driven, Dangerfield builds an engaging heroine and hero whose attraction to D/s opens the door to infinite possibilities if they can just get out of their own way. The low key angst and drama is a definite plus for this subgenre.

Charlie is an appealing mixture of contradictions whose recent break up affords her the ability to begin to explore her sexual kink. Charlie has masochistic tendencies. She likes pain with her pleasure. A partner being harsh and forceful to her during sex is what she gets off on and she is tired of feeling ashamed for those desires. She tells her best friends who decide to help her find a man to indulge in her fantasies with.

I really liked Charlie. She is an environmentally conscious vegan who teaches yoga. Her tiny stature and baby blues eyes scream push over but in reality, she is very firm and assertive when she needs to be. She is someone who is comfortable with themselves. She owns her sexuality and though uncomfortable with her desires, she works hard to get what she needs without any excuses or a need to be coerced in order to validate those desires.

“I know what you want, darlin’. You go on and ask me nicely and you might just get it.”

James was a little harder than Charlie to pin down. A former football player and model turned CEO, this smooth-talking Texan is a stereotypical gorgeous man who can get any woman he wants and does. Though the story starts out on the assumption he is a Dom, he’s not. He’s just a guy who likes being in control in the bedroom. Cynical, hard, and extremely crude, he comes off as a complete jerk (especially the first time he and Charlie meet) but as the story reveals, we go deeper into his head and learn his issues stem is from a childhood trauma he is unable to let go of. Meeting Charlie is an eye opener for him. She isn’t like anyone he’s ever met. She’s sweet and intuitive but unlike most of the women he’s met, she has no hidden agenda to change him or lead him down the wedding aisle. She brings out the protectiveness in him and he has no idea how to handle that.

I have no idea what I am doing with her, none at all.

The romance gradually builds. The relationship starts out as strictly sexual and James gives Charlie exactly what she has been looking for. James calls, Charlie comes (heh), and that is the extent of their relationship. Though some may balk at the loosely handled BDSM aspects, this book is not about BDSM -it’s about the couple. Dangerfield doesn’t seek to give us lessons in this particular lifestyle. It’s an element that the author uses to build a romance around two people who like the same things and choose to explore them together.

“So what’s the problem Blue-Eyes? Why can’t we be friend?”

She stared at him for a moment, then laughed. “Okay but I expect all my friends to tie me down and call me a slut. Is that going to be a problem?”

As they spend more time together, Charlie and James become friends. The chemistry grows hotter as the scenes grow more personal. Witty banter only engages the reader more as James grows to enjoy spending time with Charlie out of bed and goes out of his way to “date” her even though he doesn’t date. As they get closer and Charlie slowly digs into his past, seeking to find common ground between them, James’s protective barriers aren’t working anymore and he finds himself struggling to regroup. He has a moment and it is the catalyst that forces him to open up about himself and his trauma. I loved that Charlie saw her feelings for him growing and choose to address it rather then hold it inside and fret about it in silence.

A personable cast of secondary characters adds humor to the storyline. Charlie’s friends stand firm at her back and even though they don’t understand the appeal of her fantasies, they champion her and them.

“Why are all these guys so tall?” Charlie asked. “They’ll make me look like a toddler.”

“You specifically requested someone tall! I’m just meeting your demands.”

Charlie groaned. “Sophia, please stop talking like a pimp.”

“No. Tonight that’s what I am, your pimp.

James is an ocean onto himself. He doesn’t really have anyone in his corner. Charlie is one of the first people who actually looks beyond his playboy exterior and sees the man behind the hype. Soon we begin to see him through her eyes and we realize his past caused far more damage than we assumed and your heart hurts for him. He grows on you and goes from being an emotionally stunted man to a sweetheart who wants everything Charlie is offering. He just needs to find a way to free himself from his past.

There were a few areas I had issues with. I found Charlie’s instinctive need to see the good in people more than naive; it was dangerous. Also, some of the dialogue at times was awkward and addressed some issues we weren’t made privy too.

Regardless of my issues and the predictable plot, I genuinely enjoyed meeting Charlie and James and watching their relationship and themselves change as their emotions engaged. This is a stand alone so story ends on a good note with no lingering questions or issues.

*** Book Q & A***

* How did the book make you feel?: I loved the story!
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: Some of the scenes made me hold my breath, which is always good. I really appreciate this author’s writing style.
* What did you think about the main characters?: I always love reading about vegans (since I am one too), but the h Charlie was a bit too much of a paragon for me. She’s a teetotaler and vegan who NEVER loses her composure or emotes even when completely entitled to. A man broke into her house and she was sweet to him and asked him if he needed anything, WTF!? James is a self-absorbed ass who runs hot and cold. Though he was smoldering, he was emotionally immature. He used sex and alcohol to avoid confronting his suppressed emotions (concerning his underage rape) and it got a bit trying.
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: The sex scenes and chemistry were OTC.
* What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: friends with benefits to relationship, manwhore conversion
* What did you think about the ending?: I loved the ending, but then I read that there’s a second novella, essentially an epilogue, so of course I have to buy that. I hate paying full price for a novella, though.
* What is your impression of the author?: This was my first read by this author and I look forward to read more.

2* STARS!

Mini review:
Eve Dangerfield is a new author for me (I've only read Act Your Age before this) and I already feel bad. Sorry for the 2 stars but I couldn't lie. Have you ever witnessed a couple who had zero chemistry? This is me always skipping pages. Heroine is quite feisty but kinda weird; maybe not really my liking but still okay.

My biggest problem is the "hero". I don't believe he's the one for her. He was really shady without any background at first aside his fame as a manwhore. They're always have sex. Like every time. I find it lack of chemistry and easily bored with their encounter. He's not dominant/alpha enough to be in charge but still play along. In the end, I couldn't believe they could fall in love. Just... weird.

Dear Eve,
I don't know if you'll read this (I hope you do), but I have some things to say to you:

*You can't ever stop writing. Nope. Never. You need to sit in that writing cave of yours and just weave stories. Plot, write, and create. I need more.

*You owe a new pair of panties, thanks to this book. Just kidding! You owe me like five actually. Next time that's a piece of garment I will NOT wear when reading one of your gems.

*The kinks your characters have, LOVE IT. I can't exactly explain them, but I LOVE it. Refreshing.

That's all for now. Just keep writing..writing.

Sincerely,
This Reader :)

REVIEW:

A really good friend recommended this book to me, and neither the author or my friend disappointed. The story is different.

James and Charlie have a hot, insane, inexplicable chemistry. He's an indifferent alpha who has no problem taking a sexy woman to the greatest heights and then walking away. Charlie craves submission, but she wants no strings. She's been told James can provide what she needs and she won't need to worry about getting emotionally attached. Easy, right? Until, sex becomes the key to open locked hearts.

Eve Dangerfield is a special, unique author. Her characters are not what you truly expect. The kinks her characters possess are essential to their being, but it's also part of who they are. She clearly gives her characters more depth than what meets the eye.

If you're into erotica, this book is for you. If you're into straight laced, vanilla love, this book is NOT for you. If you are an open minded reader, looking to explore the dirty kinky side of romance, sit on a comfy chair, get comfortable and enjoy this book, this story. James and Charlie will take you on a walk on the wild side.

Mr. Hunter...yeah, that's exactly how he needs to be addressed.

Tall, brooding stud...clearly a cowboy with a dark and dirty vibe...

Are you already picking out your matching China patterns? Well don't because this cowboy isn't interested in anything domestic other than his beer.

And that cute little doe eyed vegan yoga instructor is the last thing he needs past tonight. Except he can't stop thinking about the feisty dark haired beauty. He can't help thinking about what could have been. Nor can he remember why it didn't happen...

Rebounding is considered normal. Her fantasies are not exactly mainstream so when Charlotte's friends create a buffet of men for her to sample, it's hard to say no. Especially when the too good looking to be able to speak in his presence, James Hunter is on the menu for the sampling.

These two are nothing if not complete and total opposites. They have different habits, goals, and lives. The only thing they have in common is a kinky side that Charlotte longs to explore. Volunteering to be her Yoda of kink may have been a bit hasty, but James can't stop now. He can't let her go. He can't keep going. He isn't sure what to do.

Are you surprised? Don't be. This naughty slice of Heaven is the kind of fun that can introduce you into a whole new world of wild freedom. Degrees of Control is hot and way more fun than I expected. The quirky heroine is my kind of girl but with much bigger balls than I could ever have. Feisty and demanding, she is owning her life paired with a demanding, rough Alpha with all the right moves...

Yeah, you want to read it!

I didn't think I will like this book, but by chapter 2, I had stop reading and search for more books by this author, and to my surprise, this is the first book by the author. This does not read like a first book, the plot, the pacing is simply perfect. I will be eagerly awaiting for more books by this author.

I can not begin to tell you how excited I am to have found this author. She is refreshing and insightful. The last time I am this excited, is when I found Cara Mckenna.

This book is sexy, sweet, steamy, erotic and perfect in everyway. The characters are simply lovable, I especially love Charlie and really hope she is real!!!!

Reread June 2019

It's been long time i read a BDSM book. I like both characters. They are strong and knew what they want especially in bed department. LIke to say this book is scorching hot. Though the hero were broken, that not make him less hot. If you like sexy and good story, this is definitely rec for you.

If you've never read anything by Eve Dangerfield do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK! This is a debut novel, and it is awesome. I enjoyed every single second of it. I read this book in a day and when I had to put it down I was counting down the minutes to pick it back up. This book was sexy, steamy, and fast-paced, yet it never once felt rushed. It wasn't too short or too long, it was perfect. For a debut novel I have to say that is pretty damn impressive.

There is one MAJOR thing that makes this book stand apart from other romance novels. Charlotte, or Charlie, the main character is not your average "poor girl meets billionaire and suddenly has all these desires she never knew about". Yes, Charlie is on the poorer side, and James has money but this isn't your typical FSOG or Bared to You story. Charlie knows what she wants, and although she's a little shy, she is not afraid to ask for all of her fantasies to come true. And it just so happens that the ever so hot James Hunter is willing to make those fantasies come to life. James was the perfect amount of gentleman and douchebag. He was hot and cold, but that's to be expected from a guy who has issues in almost every aspect of his life EXCEPT the bedroom. The sex scenes are hot to say the least. I am usually not the type of person to admit that, but I have absolutely no shame to say I loved them. Like really loved them.

Charlie's friends in the book were awesome. We all need friends like hers in our lives. I loved how open and unapologetic they were, they made the story that much better. Normally I would be content with the ending that we were given, but this story was so good that I want a part two. Is that a possibility?! I hope so!

Do yourself a favor and keep Ms. Dangerfield on your radar, because I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of her!

How? How has this book not got more reviews and ratings?! Its fucking fantastic!

One of my favourite books of the year so far. My first book by Eve Dangerfield and I cannot wait to read more from her. What an amazing author, I've read a lot of books. I've read a lot of romance books, a lot a lot, and recently I've been bored with the romantic aspect of the books, they start to blur together and I find myself skipping the sex scenes as its just much of the same stuff. This book was different! The sex scenes were so well written and the characters attitudes towards the sex made it actually fun to read. It was really refreshing.

The characters were all a breathe of fresh air. I don't think I've ever read a book with characters quite like these.

I love that the heroine wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believes, I love that she knew what she wanted and went after it and that she wasn't a drama queen and still had flaws but was a bloody great. She's definitely going to be down as one of my favourite heroines.

The hero *fans self* fuuuuucking hell! Yeah. Hot as fuck. The master of dirty talk. Just wow. I don't think I've ever had a book crush on a guy but holy shit I've developed one now!
