You were just aching to be f*cked hard, weren’t you, baby?”
“Yes. Yes.”
“And here I am, makin’ your dreams come true. So open that pretty mouth and thank me.”
It felt like he was consuming her. The taste of his mouth, the press of his body. His scent was absorbing her like a black hole swallowing a minor planet.
Charlie had never seen the paradox of her kink so starkly, wanting to feel safe, needing to feel abused. The premise is simple: After a bad breakup, Charlie (Charlotte) - who's halfway around the world from her native Australia - confesses to her girlfriends that she has some serious dark and dirty unfulfilled fantasies. They come up with a plan to get her an alpha rebound guy to help her test out her submissive side.
Charlie had never been able to marry her sexual needs with her peaceful, tree-hugging self, but in a new country, with a new life and new friends, she'd thought it was probably time to start.Charlie and James have instant chemistry; everything about him turns her on...
He was a wolf and she wanted to get eaten....and she doesn't let him walk all over her.
It was like a dream, some fucked-up fairy tale orgasm that shook the dust off every sexual encounter she'd ever had.In the end, I may not have liked the characters, but I LOVED the writing. That may sound like a cop-out, but how can you disagree when a writer comes up with a sentence like this:
This is what I need, she thought as she mindlessly pressed herself against his jeans. A drop of cruelty in a sea of pleasure.
❝couldn’t stand the thought of you upset. that look on your face when i left, it nearly killed me, blue-eyes.❞
❝even if you and me don’t get together, i’m so glad i met you. i was walking around half asleep and now i’m awake. that’s because of you, sweetheart. you saw right through me, showed me there was something better beneath the bullshit.❞
❝whatever i feel for you, whatever you feel for me, it won’t work like this, james. i can’t love someone who makes me a distraction from his own unhappiness.❞
