If you’re tired of your all-too-quiet quiet time, Refresh Your Prayers is the answer.

Description: Ever feel your prayers are going no further than the ceiling? Ever wonder that maybe you don’t know how to pray? Do your prayers feel all the same? But you have a desire to talk with God — really talk with God. This 60-day book is a devotional is dedicated to equipping you to do exactly that. Using God’s Word and then wonderful succinct storytelling, Lori Hatcher guides us to a fulfilling prayer time with God.
Review: Oh, this is a wonderful devotional book. It only took reading the first two devotionals for me to know I had something truly blessed given to me. Now, this is part of my morning routine. Whether you are a new follower of Christ or have been one for years, this devotional will speak to you.
The book has six main parts with each having 4 to 20 devotions: 1. What is Prayer? 2. The God to Whom We Pray 3. Why Pray? 4. How Should I Pray? 5. What Should I Pray For? 6. Favorite Prayers from the Bible 7. Each devotion has the same format. Here’s an overview of Devotion #1:
-> A title — “Prayer Was God’s Idea” -> A Bible verse supporting the title. -> A story that connects the reader with the Bible verse. In this devotion, Lori (I just can’t think of her as Ms Hatcher) uses sending a text message to the communication Adam and Eve had with God. “Really?” you think. But it is done beautifully. For me, I now really get how easy it was for Adam and Eve to talk with God anytime they wanted to. -> Uncommon Power — a short statement that shows how we have an “uncommon power” provided by God. -> Praise Prompt — an example prayer of what Biblical truth about God and his relationship he wants with us that has just been shown by Lori. -> Live It Out — Questions that *really* make you think about what you have just read.
But in Devotion #4, “Does God Speak to Me?” — this devotion **truly** spoke to me personally. Not that I haven’t had God speak to me; I have. God has paved the way for me and cautioned me. Have I ever “heard” God speak to me? Out loud like Moses and the burning bush — No. But have I heard words resonating in my head? Yes.
Recent Personal Experience: My last words from God were "DON'T GO". There was an event I had not been able to attend for over a year because of COVID. I was so excited about going. I was ready. Everything was prepared. And tomorrow I'd get to go to it finally. But while sitting and having my morning coffee, I got those two words -- DON'T GO. Not "do not go". It was clearly DON'T GO. And within another minute I heard the same two words again. And I knew I would accept the words. I didn't know then, and still don't, know why I was not supposed to be there. I've heard nothing negative about the event but I know I was not to attend. And the excitement I had quickly ebbed. I wasn't even disappointed. I would have been if it had been my idea of "well, maybe I shouldn't go ... yada yada yada". I felt it was a word from God. When I read the five guidelines, the words I heard that morning fit every single one.

#RefreshYourPrayers #LoriHatcher #NetGalley Title: Refresh Your Prayers: Uncommon Devotions to Restore Power and Praise Series: [Sorta, in 2020 “Refresh Your Faith: Uncommon Devotions from Every Book of the Bible” was published.] Author: Lori Hatcher Genre: Christian, Non-fiction Publisher: Our Daily Bread Publishing Release Date: February 23, 2022 (Amazon) | March 1, 2022 (NetGalley) Format: Kindle (read), Paperback Pages: 269 Source: NetGalley Cover: Possibly a bit too understated. However, it is very much like “Refresh Your Faith”.
Powerful. This book contains Scripture, devotion, praise prompts, and more. Author Lori Hatcher has written an inspirational devotional that encourages a deep relationship with God. A great book to read alone or in a group. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
As Christians, one of our greatest resources is to speak through prayer to the God of the Universe. Lori Hatcher has written a compelling and remarkable book, REFRESH YOUR PRAYERS. Sixty devotions cover a wide range of topics like What is prayer, why pray, how to pray, what should you pray for and favorite prayers from the Bible. Each entry includes a short and pointed devotional, uncommon power, praise prompt, and an action step called Live It Out.
The book is loaded with insights whether you are an experienced Christian or brand new. For example, in the chapter, Prayer Is an Invitation to Partner With God, Hatcher wrote speaking about God, “He doesn’t need our prayers to unlock His power, not does He require our ideas to guide His hands. He invites us to pray because He wants to share the joy of doing His kingdom work.” (Page 24)
I learned a great deal from reading REFRESH YOUR PRAYERS cover to cover and highly recommend it.
This was an excellent book. Sixty devotions that I added to my daily Bible reading. It was helpful and practical. I highly recommend it to “refresh your prayers” and get some new perspectives.
Just the devotional I needed in a season searching for some guidance and encouragement. I especially liked the last section of using favorite prayers from the Bible to guide you.
Refresh Your Prayers would be an excellent next step for someone who struggles to take their prayers from a wishlist for God to a relationship with God.
Several years ago I read Prayer by Timothy Keller. It was a challenging book for me at the time. In fact, I had to read it twice. I wish I had been able to start with Refresh Your Prayers. It provides many of the same key takeaways in an easily digestible format.
Refresh Your Prayers consists of 60 daily devotionals. It is organized into 6 parts, each with a different theme. Each day’s devotional starts with scripture, then leads into a personal story or lesson on an aspect of prayer. Next the “Uncommon Prayer” section provides a bit of a summary in one or two sentences. Finally there is a prayer starter and an application point.
This is an excellent resource for those who grew up in church but never really learned to pray personal prayers on their own without a script. I have a friend in mind who would benefit greatly from this devotional book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread Publishing for providing this ebook for review.
Refresh Your Prayers, Uncommon Devotions to Restore Power and Praise by Lori Hatcher is a refreshing digging deeper look into a strong prayer life. The book is a true devotional that also follows a focused look at all aspects of prayer. It starts with the heart of the reader and advances from there. Well done, this sequence of short devotional on one aspect of prayer at a time that includes Bible references, a prayer, and a thought.
Much like Our Daily Bread devotionals yet different in that the text is perhaps twice as long as those daily devotions. Enough to give you something to ponder on during the day but not too much to overwhelm you. Overall from beginning to the last entry Refresh Your Prayers give timely Bible based wisdom that is easily understandable for all.
The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
Review Title: Help For Weary Prayer Warriors (review of Refresh Your Prayers by Lori Hatcher) Reviewer: Janice Garey ***** 5 Stars This timely new devotional, published by the ever popular Our Daily Bread group, hits a bullseye for those of us who have been at a point of overwhelm for several years now. We've been called to battle in the spiritual realm over extremely gut-wrenching matters almost daily. It's been one crisis after another. I know I am worn out and welcome what this book offers. I am amazed at how the author, Lori Hatcher, draws from the well of experience in everyday matters to find spiritual aspects that nourish the soul. It's as if the spiritual eyes of her heart are open a little bit wider than others and she wants to share the glorious view. Lori helps me see the ripe fruit available for enjoying in the multitude of learning experiences in our days. She is always careful to correctly use God's Word in her writings. She gently weaves a story about distressing events such as meeting up with a childhood bully in a way that shows God's help is available when our troubles are shared with others who care about us. One devotion I found especially meaningful is titled, "Does God Speak To Me?" It gave needed insight into a topic I previously had decided to research. I felt delight in finding this devotion succintly answered my questions and gave guidance for future efforts to listen to God. Although I have not yet read the book cover to cover, I have read enough to prompt me to order both the paperback version and the Kindle version. I need both; one I can share, and the other I can take with me wherever I go. It's that good. I was given an Advance Reader's Copy by the publisher for review purposes. I have given my honest review and was under no obligation to do otherwise. I want to help those looking for a good devotional book to know that this is an excellent choice.
Have you ever struggled with your prayer life? Who hasn’t, right? This beautifully written book, Refresh Your Prayers, written by Lori Hatcher is like a cozy friend letting you know you’re not alone while giving you much needed and well thought out advice. Having something to reassure us of the fact that we all struggle sometimes is so helpful and that’s just what this book did for me. Reading this felt like “coming back home” with that home being prayer. The author shares her personal experiences and interweaves those stories with scripture. She brings out points about the how and why of prayer that just gives a magnitude of clarity like no other devotional book I’ve read on the subject. It is a powerful, eye-opening experience. No matter if you are a new believer or a seasoned veteran of Christianity, this devotional is sure to uplift and energize your prayer life. It is a great quiet time read, but as I read more and more, I thought of how nice it would be to use this book as a small group discussion and with Sunday school classes. Any way it is used, it will be a true blessing.

I am reviewing a copy of Refresh Your Prayers: Uncommon Devotions to Restore Power and Praise through Our Daily Bread Publishing and Netgalley:

My prayer life had become a bit stagnant and I felt like they really weren't being heard so I set out for a bit of help. Am I glad I did! Previously I had enjoyed Mrs. Hatcher's "Refresh your Faith" and loved her style of writing.....personal and refreshing. So I decided to give "Refresh your Prayers" a shot. This devotional totally changed how I approached prayers. Through funny, moving, and inspiring stories, Lori showed me how to get personal with my God again, reminded me to have a grateful heart, and how to stay focused. She pushed me to take a deep dive into all the reasons prayer is so important in my relationship with God leading me to a deeper love for Him! Her live it out section at the end of each devotional reminded me to look for God in all things, to enjoy Him, and encouraged my heart to let Him use me in my own life. Needless to say, I recommend this devotional highly. Give it a try!
Hatcher does it again! When I read an earlier book by Lori Hatcher, Refresh Your Faith, I couldn’t wait for more from her. With easy to read, but deeply moving, devotions on each page, you’ll feel like you’re sitting across the table from a sweet, smiling friend who’s encouraging you to grow your relationship with the Lord through prayer. One of my favorite lines reminds me of just that – “God invites us to pray because He desires for us to be in a close, connected relationship with Him.” Don’t wait to order your copy! You’ll be so glad you did. * I received an advanced copy of the book, but I loved it so much that the copy I ordered is on the way! Refresh Your Prayers is like a cup of encouragement to jumpstart my day. When I pick up this devotional each morning, I find an enjoyable read and sound biblical lessons that enrich my prayer life. With engaging, sometimes humorous stories, Lori Hatcher reveals her honest questions about prayer and the answers she discovered in the Bible. I’ll keep my copy to reread and order additional copies for gifts. My favorite quote from the “Uncommon Power” sections after each devotion is, “God is not only the Great I AM who can work miracles; He’s also a Person I can laugh and cry with in prayer and talk to about even the smallest details of my day.” I also enjoy the “Live It Out” sections which include easy, practical steps to help the reader value and understand prayer in a deeper way.
I'm always on the lookout for a devotional to have to add to my morning quiet time with God and the scriptures. This book has been a blessing to me and will be one I keep on my shelf to use again and again.
This is a fantastic gift to give to someone, but first gift it to yourself! It will definitely enrich your prayer life.
I'm appreciating what the author gives us at the end of each chapter: Uncommon Power, Praise Prompt and Live it Out. Love those!
I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to strengthen their prayer life.

I love to use devotionals that meet me where I am and Lori Hatcher’s devotional on prayer meets us where we are every day, regardless of our life season or circumstances. She begins by showing us prayer is God’s idea, and moves through how to pray and what to pray, closing with favorite prayers from the Bible to pray right now! Scripture selections apply to her real-life engaging stories that take us into application to praise God and live out what we read. This well written powerful devotional will keep you pondering and praying for a year.

Have your prayers grown stale? Do you feel they aren’t getting past the ceiling? Well, this book is for you! Lori Hatcher has done it again. She has reached into scripture and selected key verses to share, along with life stories, that open hearts, minds, spirits to sense the nearness of God. He is here! And He wants to hear from us! He desires a close relationship with each of us, and it begins with prayer. Lori walks us through ways to see communicating with God in a more special and life-altering way, fulfilling a need inside to be closer to our Heavenly Father. As we see how our prayer life can be refreshed, our relationship with God deepens and is enjoyed more than anything else. Another excellent work of art by Lori.
This book is so incredible. I really can't say that I am finished, because I will never finish it. I will reread this book each time that I complete it. This book has taught me so very much about my prayer life and prayer in general. After reading this one, I also bought Refresh your Hope and Refresh your Faith which I am also enjoying. Her writing style is easy to read, almost as if you are talking to a friend. I highly recommend her books. I have known Jesus my entire life, however, as a child I was not involved in the church due to a lot of parental issues, so there were a number of things that I was simply ignorant of. As an adult, some of the things just have not come up in church, so Ms. Hatchers books have enlightened me now.
I loved the format of this book, it is both Bible-based and life centered, and very usable for new or seasoned Christians. It had 6 distinct parts: What is Prayer? The God to whom we pray, Why pray? How should I pray? What should I pray for? And closing with favorite prayers from the Bible. Each of the 60 devotions ended with Uncommon Power, Praise prompt and Live it out. If your prayer life has become stagnant, this book will add spark and joy Lori Hatcher is a well known author, blogger, pastor’s wife and women’s ministry speaker.I found the community and group prayer ideas to be unusual and helpful. It is very attractive and refreshing, true to it’s title and a wonderful addition to your personal library or church library.
Refresh your prayers by Lori Hatcher is a gem of a book.
As I grow older it's important to me that the non fiction books I consume are biblically sound and help me grow spiritually, and this one checks those boxes .
Sometimes praying gets pushed to the back burner and this book reminded me of all the reasons it should be at the front of everything I do.
If your looking for inspiration and sound biblical guidance then read this devotional.
Thank you to Net galley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Lori Hatcher has written an outstanding book filled with powerful devotional reflections and biblical wisdom. But best of all, it's truly readable. Her writing style makes you feel like you're longtime pals, like she's having you over for coffee and some truth-talk between friends. I've read her other EXCELLENT books, and this one is my favorite by far. I also love the way it's organized. I highly recommend it!
I was inspired by this book to dive deeper into resolving my fear of praying. I just feel useless in communicating with God. He just knows, but I know it is important for me to communicate my love and appreciation and fears and pain. I write my prayers out in my journal with God. It is hard for me to speak for physical reasons. I seems to express myself well in my writing them out. I know this is acceptable. Our relationship with God is deeply personal.
This is a must-have beside your Bible for daily devotions. The author is so relatable in the stories she shares and she is so vulnerable. You know she has been through it all, too! She points her readers to the Lord, for praise, for His glory, and yes, for supplication! I highly recommend this book for you and as a gift!
Lori's quick-read daily devotions pack together powerful truth, inspiration, and process for praying with new perspective. Lori not only shares why prayer is critical to spiritual growth, but she demonstrates its power through stories and examples. These simple snippets of truth will revolutionize your day.
The author of Refresh Your Prayers has a keen ability to pull things from history, culture, and her personal life and weave them into her devotions. This helps clarify the principles and makes the devotions enjoyable to read. And they are also packed with Scripture which is important to me.
PERFECT GIFT BOOK It’s hard to find a devotional gentle enough to please a new believer, yet deeply satisfying enough for a mature one. Refresh Your Prayers is brimming with interesting stories and enriching insights; great depth wrapped in a soft hug. Many people are finally returning to prayer after a long time away… This is a perfectly timed gift book for all ages and stages of maturity. I’ve pre-ordered four copies as gifts. (I received an advance copy from Our Daily Bread Publishing in exchange for my honest review.) Expect a best-seller here. Elizabeth Brickman, Author THIN & BLESSED 10 Wise Decisions for Love, Power & Joy
One of the best books I have ever read on prayer and it offers tidy 5 min. devotion chapters for easy reading too! 60 days focused on prayer, questions concerning prayer, model prayers from Scripture, and wisdom from Lori's life as a Pastor's wife and motherhood and grandmothering. Great read!
This was one of the best devotionals I've ever read because it doesn't just fit the traditional verse-story-apply-repeat formula. There are times when the author really digs deep into how to improve our prayer lives and I really needed that.
A wonderful devotional that leads you into deeper prayer with select scripture and suggested prayer. I am getting Refresh Your Faith and anxious to get Refresh Your Hope when released.
