Sarah Matthews began writing short stories as a child, but it wasn't until 2007 that her journey as an author truly began. She lives in Central Indiana and when she's not writing down ideas for characters, Sarah is catching up on her favorite shows from Grey's Anatomy to Arrow or listening to a good book. While she has a soft spot for Romance, she will give almost any book a read. Her favorite book is The Giver. She is also a movie enthusiast and watches almost anything, with the exception of Horror. Her favorite genres are Romance and Action Adventure, especially the Avengers franchise. She loves spending time with her family and friends.
I think this book was pretty solid. I had a hard time getting into the book but I was finally able to finish. I think the book overall needs a bit of work but I still enjoyed it. The characters were developed well and the plot was pretty good.
For the most part I liked this book. Beth and Steve's romance has a lot of sweetness and heart to it and it also has a very genuine feel. I really appreciated that the author created a heroine with Cerebral Palsy. As for the story, it was entertaining. I have to say this book was not the easiest read. In my opinion the book has a fluffiness to it sometimes makes it feel like a bit of a slog, Still though, It was good. This is my independent, impartial review.
The story and the characters are fine, but there have been times when the book has been long, I had plenty of boring things and conversations and I lacked emotion. Anyway I'm going to read the second part to see if I connect more with the characters.
BETH: "The way I look at it, is I was born this way, so I don't know any different. However, if I was born normal, I might feel differently, but since I wasn't, I don't mind telling people pretty much anything they want to know."
I was gifted a copy of “Something New & Unexpected” by Sarah Matthews in exchange for my honest review, and here it is. The story-line is a sweet love story, girl meets boy, boy falls in love with girl. But I felt like it needed something, I was unable to connect with the MCs of the story. The story has lots of details of what she wears, but when it came to the group of friends are out all it has is laughter. The question is why they are laughing. I felt like I needed content in a few areas. I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I believe I got an ARC and that will explain some of the discrepancies. I believe once it gets clean up it will be a really sweet love story between a girl with Cerebral Palsy to a hot guy, and how they come together non-matter the odds.
