Unsolved Serial Killers: 10 Frightening True Crime Cases of Unidentified Serial Killers (The Ones You've Never Heard of) Volume 1

Rate this book
Discover the chilling true stories of killers who stalked their victims undetected and remain free to this day…When you hear the word "monsters", you probably conjure visions of gruesome and otherworldly creatures -- vampires, spirits, demons, and more.

Yet the most terrifying monsters in history aren't the ones you see on the big screen.

No horror movie music cues when you cross paths with them or when they spot their first victim.

No, these vicious killers are much subtler. These monsters are people.

These are the killers who will walk away from a murder scene completely unphased by what they've done. The ones who pitilessly dump or hide bodies and then go about their day as usual.

While you're likely familiar with the famous serial killers who have had their faces plastered on every television screen, that's only a part of the picture.

One reason that people find these criminals so compelling is because they can rest easy at night knowing justice has been served, and the world has been made a little safer.

Yes, these killers are shocking and perverse, yet there's a sense of comfort in knowing they won't be hunting for victims any time soon.

But what about those who go undetected?

In Unsolved Serial Killers, here is just a fraction of what you will

Explorations of the cities and historical contexts of the killings, so you understand the atmosphere when they were taking placeIn-depth profiles of the victims of each killer and what happened to themComprehensive looks at the investigations, suspects, and actions of law enforcement while trying to identify the perpetratorsThe conspiracy theories and lasting legacies that surround these unknown predatorsThe methodology of the killers and what those distinct patterns might reveal about their twisted inner psycheHow gangs of serial killers like the Mad Killers of Belgium enthralled communities with fear and paranoiaPublic reactions to the murder sprees and the surprising ways that public opinion influenced investigationsAnd much more.

If you're a true crime junkie you may think you know the world of serial killers inside and out -- but prepare to be surprised by what you find within these pages.

Many of these criminals' stories have been nearly lost to time, discarded amongst the drama and pace of the modern news cycle. Others have been eclipsed by even more horrific crimes that took place after their reign of terror.

Yet their impact on the families and friends of the victims will never fade. These accounts are both thorough and compelling and will have you on the edge of your seat.

New true crime book!

Here is a new twist to unsolved murder cases --- unidentified serial killers. We know they're out there, having their fun at the cost of others' lives. We've found the bodies ---well, some of them --- and some of the victims have been identified. We've taken notice of the killers' signatures.

However, we are not beaten. Every day brings new and better forensic tools. Technology is taking giant steps forward. We found the Golden State Killer, didn't we?

There are hundreds of serial killers at work. But we're going to put them behind bars sooner or later. They can't outsmart DNA.

4.5/5⭐

This book was really good but before I get into discussing it let me add the most needed trigger warnings for this book.

Trigger Warnings:
Death
R@pe
Sexual Violence
Murder

Alright now onto the review.

This book was amazing. The research was very well done. I looked into some of the articles myself used in this book and read up on them myself and it was very well done. D.R. Werner did an amazing job talking about the victims and made sure to tell the honest truth about them. There were a few spelling mistakes throughout the book but not much. I would highly recommend this to my true crime buddies.

As a serial killer fanatic I really enjoyed this book! I thought there was a chapter or two that didn’t really fit in the “serial killer” category but still, very well written and I loved that the chapters were short and to the point.

First of all let's talk about the cover.. I love it, I haven't seen anything like it before. Next thing, the way it's written.. I love that too. I also like the layout of the book too.

Now the contents of this first volume of Unsolved Serial Killers is great. The book contents is as follows:

🚨Jack the Stripper and The Hammersmith Nude Murders
🚨 The Black Doodler
🚨 The Manchester Canal Pusher
🚨 The Chicago Strangler
🚨 The Brabant Killers
🚨 The Atlanta Ripper
🚨 The Monster of Florence
🚨 The Butcher of Mons
🚨 The Texas Killing Fields
🚨 The 300 Highway Serial Killers

I have heard of Jack the Stripper and The Monster of Florence before but I hadn't heard the stories. I hadn't heard of the others which is surprising as I have a lot of true crime books.

It was a great book, very informative and I like the way he tells the story of each unknown killer. I can't wait to get my hands on and read the next 3 volumes!

Interesting read!

If you're squeamish at all then this book isn't for you as it goes into quite a lot of detail in some of the cases. I will be reading the next book and hopefully it'll continue with the amount of detail and more.

These were very interesting stories about unsolved murders. I'm not sure all truly fall into the category of serial killers but I did really enjoy this book.

I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

Despite the "True Crime" phase it seems most of the internet is going through, I am not one of those people. I think some cases are interesting, but most of the time I don't want to watch documentaries about serial killers, or read the case information.

However, I decided to give this book a chance and read what D.R. Werner had written.

I was impressed, because I was actually interested. D.R. includes pictures, good information, and explains the backgrounds and crimes in a good, non-hard to read way.(That's my problem with most true crime stories, they are written very convoluted and I lose interest.) This book really opens your eyes to the horrors of serial killers (and how creepy it is that some are unidentified)

So if you are looking for an interesting, True Crime read - I'd say give this one a shot.

Definitely an Eye-Opener

This book is not for the faint-hearted or squeamish. It is an eye-opening read about serial killers worldwide. It is very informational. While I firmly believe there are good people in this world, I am also a firm believer there are many sick predators in the world as discussed in the book. The main predator discussed in the book lives in Europe but we have the same type of predators living in the U.S., along with many other countries.

It disgusts me that predators like these live in this world committing the atrocities against women and are going unpunished. My firm belief is that one day they will get the punishment for their crimes they deserve and the sooner the better!

Stellar premise, shit execution. This was a rough ride. I felt the author elongated these blurbs with nonsensical drivel to create a sense of depth that just wasn’t achieved. I wasn’t engaged with any of the stories and struggled to finish the measly 162 pages of the electronic (kindle) edition of this book. I’ll be skipping parts 2 & 3.

I really appreciated the focus put on the victims in this book because I think it’s important to remember those who suffered rather than the one inflicting the pain. These killers might be searching for recognition in their crimes so by looking at the victims insead, it takes away some of their satisfaction. I think this book is the best by far that takes away from the killer and rather focuses on the lives, families, and personalities of the victims and survivors. Because of this reason, I have purchased the other volumes of the series.

The cover of the book says “The Ones You’ve Never Heard Of” referring to the unsolved cases, and I believe this is mostly true which was surprising because I feel like a lot of books or documentaries claim this but they end up being common cases that are frequently talked about. The ones I knew about were the Texas Field killer (there’s a great documentary on Netflix if you are interested in knowing more), The 300 killer, and the “Zodiac killer” (not the one in California you are thinking of).

There were some formatting issues with the book, but I didn’t see that as a reason to drop a star.

This book has further convinced me that already convicted serial killers could help find currently operating killers because each killer had their own modus operandi which makes them unique but only a serial killer knows how a serial killer thinks. All regular people can do is try and track the behaviour of current killers to take a guess at their next move but to do that you’d properly have to think like a sadist which I don’t think regular people are capable of doing.
Aspects of this book also called into question the definitions of serial killer and spree killer because technically certain killers can be either, or both so where would they fit? For example if someone kills multiple people in one go in frenzy, and repeated that process they would be categorised as a spree killer and not a serial killer but it’s technically both.
Every serial killing incident in this book I had never actually heard of and a lot of people wouldn’t have but that’s purely because no one person was ever held accountable so if there’s no name to put to the crime…. Why would it get talked about as much as Manson for example, or Kemper etc

Unsolved Serial Killers is as fascinating as it is disturbing. The stories covered in this book includes some cases I’ve not heard about before.
▪️ Brabant Killers of Belgium, (The Giant; The Killer & The Old Man)
▪️Manchester Canal Killer
▪️The Black Doodler
▪️Chicago Strangler
▪️The Atlanta Ripper
▪️The Monster Of Florence A.K.A Zodiac Killer
▪️The Butcher Of Mons
I like that the author gives the names of the victims and how they met their demise. He gives the facts of each case and handles each one with respect to the victim. The range of cases around the world is fascinating how more people have not been caught. Forensic science has changed a lot over time so perhaps some of these cases will be closed? A wonderful insight into how cruel people can be. These cases should never be forgotten and remind people to be cautious. An excellent book.

According to statistics, there are anywhere from 25-50 active serial killers in the U.S. today. Which in and of itself is scary but thats only the U.S. Think about how many others are operating around the world. Even worse are the murders that are never connected to a serial killer.

This books was alright. This book highlights the serial killers we've never heard and have yet to be caught. Modern forensics and the ever changing science that catches these heinous killers will continue to improve and with time maybe some of these cases will be eventually solved.

If you are a fan of true crime and enjoy reading about this topic then this book is worth picking up. I will say that it is not for the faint of heart. The murders discussed are graphic.

A very interesting read. The book holds true to it's title in the sense that it is truly frightening to read about real life (or death in this case) stories about serial killers roaming around that have never been been found. We know about the serial killers that have been found and we are all curious as to how and why they do these horrific crimes, but what about the ones we don't know are even out there. They could be our neighbor and we don't even know it and that is the scary part. This book looks at those cases that are out there looking to be solved and talks about the victims. Well worth the read and if there ever is a Volume 2, I will be reading it.

Roaming, unknown killers

If you like to read about unsolved mysteries and cold cases, you might get into this book. The problem is that so little is known in each case there isn't much to report on beyond the victims' names and where and in what condition they were discovered. I read TC to find out the reasons why someone kills so of course that isn't possible here. That's why three stars from me. There is nothing wrong with the writing itself but I did find the inclusion of some of the pictures odd, like part of a horse because there was a riding center nearby. Pictures of the victims would have been much more appreciated.

Kind of read like a high school report paper. Paragraphs are not indented which messed with my head and flow of reading. Never really heard much on these before (which was the hope) but I don’t think this was the deep dive I had kind of hoped for. There was another mistype I saw while reading (can’t recall where) and the sentence leads on to

nothing. About like that sentence. It flowed, but the top line was half taken up, then it went to the next line?!?

“…thrived as he

executed (page not known). There was another mistype as well on page 88 with the same thing.

“…after her

murder.”

Weird but it bothered me. This just wasn’t the home run I had hoped for.

Boring and brief. Random pictures throughout which are not related to the specific cases spoken about, just from Google. Not frightening as the cover suggests. Could have been so much better. Was also really strange that on a couple of pages, midway through a sentence it would drop to a new paragraph (read a physical copy). So much potential but not executed. These are crimes we probably don't know about, yet they were so briefly discussed I'm still non the wiser! I'm usually a fan of true crime but this book fell flat for me

I don’t read a lot of nonfiction books, so I figured this would be an interesting change of pace. I was expecting more of a ‘true-crime story telling’ vibe and that’s not really what I got. This book wasn’t terrible, but it was written kind of like a college term paper with way too much detail in some sections, and not enough where it would matter. The stories were interesting, I just did not really like the format.

Definitely a fascinating read!

I definitely was enthralled learning of some seriously wow level cases I hadn’t previously read or seen depicted/discussed on TV. My only gripe is that the book wasn’t longer or more detailed on certain things about the investigation. However I would imagine it’s all minimal info since these cases were never solved. Do definitely recommend this for the true crime junkie!

Informative book of 10 unsolved mysteries….

This book gives an overview of 10 different serial killers “You’ve never heard of.” I was excited, until I realized I had heard of most of them. There were a couple I had never heard of, like Jack the Stripper and The Manchester Canal Pusher. If you are a true crime junkie, then you will find this book interesting. If you are looking for entertainment, then I don’t recommend. I personally liked reading it.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I found the cases covered to be interesting and well covered. The pictures included only adds to the experience of reading this book. It is sad that the culprits were not caught. I would definitely recommend checking out this book.

I have to say I'm honestly disappointed in this one. I normally love anything true crime, and considering these are stories that I have never hear about I thought I would love this one. However, it just seemed to be the same stories over and over again. A solid 2.8 stars but rounded up. Really disappointed.

While fairly well written, it could have been a lot better. There were way more than just a few typos and grammatical errors. I did enjoy it, but a large part. Of it was just a rehash of some Very old but well covered stories, so there was a lot of material that had been gone over and over again, so there was nothing new for me.

As a true crime fanatic, I really enjoyed this book. The stories were the perfect size for me not to lose interest in them. I felt that there were a few that might not have fit what the author was trying to convey in this book. However, they were all true crime based and I liked learning about the lesser known true crime stories that were presented in this book.

Well done

Very well done book. Great page turner! I really enjoyed the writing style, I thought it was fantastic that the writer included background information about the victims. These people are more than bodies that were found, they had families and lives to.

This was very interesting. It took me a while to get used to the narration which is why I haven't given it a 5 star writing. But listening to it was very interesting. and I learnt a lot. It was interesting to see how the focus was on the victims as well as detailing the serial killers.

I found this book to be informative and enlightening. It definitely opened my eyes to serial killers who travel the interstates for a living, long haul truckers. Of course only a small number but even a small number is quite scary.
