3.75 Stars.

This is a hard one to rate. I liked the premise of this story as it had a Pretty Woman vibe to it which is great.

Things I liked:

- MMF is always hot
- slow burn
- enemies to lovers
- smoking hot sex
- a bit of mystery
- kinky fuckery
- scary and mysterious H
- sexy, alphahole H
- sweet, naive, yet endearing h

Things that didn't work:

- Mr Rathburn was a little TOO mysterious for my tastes. He's very much a peripheral character until almost 70% of the book.
- single pov felt limiting (I normally love it but in this instance it felt unbalanced)
- for a MMF book it actually felt more like a MM & MF love story for the most part. Star and Rathburn really don't have a relationship until the very end and they don't even have sex on page which honestly I felt ripped off about
- there was a lot of detail given to events and situations that in my opinion didn't progress the story and then we were told about a lot of events (especially ones between Star and Rathburn) which I would have loved to have experienced/been shown.

So as you can see it's tricky to rate. There was a lot I loved but a lot that also didn't work in some instances. I still really enjoyed the book and I've got several others by this author that I'm eager to read.

When i heard Sorcha Black has a new story,i knéw i had to read it and lucky me,i got an ARC!
Once i started,i was happy to find a real dark beauty, and before long,i found myself unable to stop until i knew the whole story.
And what a story it was!

Star has not had a happy life, being the only source of income for her uncle Aaron meant he gave her to the men he owed money,to do to her whatever they liked.
She didn’t like it,but she was stuck.....
Imagine her surprise when he takes her to her new client.
This one isn’t old,he isn’t grubby,in fact he is,by the looks of it,a wealthy man.
And a cold,ruthless one,or so it seems....
And he doesn’t want her for himself,no he wants her to please his young friend Blaise.
In every way he demands.
Mr. Rathburn even does his very best to keep his distance from them both,until...
It becomes painfully clear why he needs Blaise, and why he hired Star.
Blaise resents her presence, though and does his best to be as rude and callous as possible.

Star may be young, she may not be educated, but she is a smart cookie.
Before long she sees what both men feel, and why she’s there.
She doesn’t really mind how both men treat her, because they’re both still treating her so much better than she’s used to.
And all the things they buy for her....she never had so many clothes, and books!
The feelings she developes, worry her though....
Because she knows this won’t last and she’ll have to go back to her uncle....right?

The way this story grew, the way layer after layer was exposed, was wonderful.
And the more i knew, the more i loved Star,Blaise and mr. Rathburn.

This was i story i enjoyed very much!

It was so good, I... liked it better than Pirates of Penzance!

Yes, that's a "Pretty Woman" reference, because this story owes something to that film, but with Richard Gere's character replaced with two strong, hot guys.

I love Sorcha's characters. Star, Avery and Blaise (really? I kinda had trouble with that name, but I guess we blame his fictional parents for that) are quirky and well defined and wonderful to spend time with. And I love that the whole story is told from Star's point-of-view, this is becoming rare in romance books but I always prefer being in just one head.

The kink is hot, the locations are exotic and the feels are real. Very highly recommended.

This one I struggled with a lot more than Sorcha Black's other book I've read, Cruel Idols.

The heroine, Star, is a prostitute under the control of her uncle. She's hired out by the mysterious Mr Rathburn as a companion for his own male lover, Blaise, because even though Rathburn is happy to engage in some BDSM play with Blaise, he doesn't plan to actually have sex with him. It's heavily implied - though I don't think explicitly said - that Rathburn is an assassin.

Blaise is annoyed that Rathburn won't give in to his wiles and takes it out on Star. She meanwhile does her best to facilitate a relationship between the two of them. I won't lie, it really felt like she was an afterthought to them; they've known each other much longer and the emotional connection between them felt far stronger. Rathburn in particular seems to barely tolerate Star whereas Blaise is the object of all his frustrated longings.

Star was also a bit too submissive for me. She knows she probably won't ever matter to the two men as much as they do to each other, but she's been so beaten down by her life that she's just grateful they don't beat her. I felt very sorry for Star and also like I hadn't read a romance when I left the book. More like a survival story.

The writing is excellent, though. It gets most of the 3 stars. The other star is for Blaise, whose character I found entertaining.

Does anyone else write flawed characters like Sorcha Black? I first became aware of this author's books via The Bad Ass Brat's series. She then ripped my heart out with Ein's story.

And like her other work, this story destroyed me and put me back together again.

Regardless of your preferred pairing, if you like books rich in character development, with a cast you'll be rooting for, you can't go wrong here.

Love Love LOVED!! A Must Read!

This book kept me on my toes! And I soaked up and loved every word of it! For a while I wondered how in the world we could get to a MMF relationship, when the MM part of the equation were such enigmas - and highly stubborn, adversarial ones at that!
The story’s told from the extremely likable Star’s POV, which I love, as she’s dumped into the chaos of Mr. Rathburn and Blaise’s contentiousness and yearning. And slowly, scene by scene and through the character’s actions, we begin to understand these multifaceted dynamics all while feeling the suspense and thrill of the who’s and why’s.
It was a deliciously erotic journey which kept me captivated and reading long into the wee hours. I went to work exhausted after a night of not being able to put the book down, and it was SO worth it!
I give a tip of my hat to a well done story I’m sure will be a re-read, and that I HIGHLY recommend!

Sorcha Black has done it again!! She has delivered not only a really sexy book, but also amazing characters and story. I absolutely love Star. She may be a sex worker, but she is so innocent and sweet. My heart breaks for her over and over. Now Blaise, he’s an A-hole and I hate him until I love him. Mr. Rathburn - I’m drawn to and makes me feel sad. This whole story had me rushing to read more, more because it was soooo good. I could not put it down. I had to slow myself down and savor the angsty deliciousness. And savor it I did.... Every. Single. Word.

Star is just trying to survive and not make her uncle angry. She is sent to the home of Mr. Rathburn who hired her to be there for Blaise. Blaise has fallen for Mr. Rathburn but he can’t fulfill all of his needs so this is where Star comes in. Can she bridge a connection for them? Amazing characters dark but you can’t help but realize there are so many layers you end up liking them. Star is so sweet and innocent in so many ways you can’t help but want to see her experience the good things in life. Fast-paced read with lots of drama, steam, kink, violence and emotion, yes and there is a darker side to the story so be prepared. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

I found that these three characters were quite unique. Star is so naive in the simplest ways of the world yet shows an amazing ability "reading" people. Blaise is a man suffering so deeply from his unrequited love that he is willing to accept even the tiniest of crumbs of attention. He's lonely, frustrated and acts out his barely contained anger. Avery is enigmatic, mysterious, seemingly emotionless with an aura of danger surrounding him. He disappears often and returns troubled and angry. These three slowly find their way into a relationship with Star being the glue that pulls and holds them together. But it is an uphill climb all the way.

Perfection!

This is truly perfect! I love the way that Sorcha Black writes menages. They are full of all the sexy kinkery sex that you could possibly want. Not only that, but you also get a fantastically complex story with all kinds of layers.

The intense relationships and feelings between all of the characters in all of the various permutations drew me in and kept me interested. I really want about 15 more books with Avery, Star, and Blaise. I also want a book about Otis.

I really, really, really hate Star's uncle.

The Sharp Edge of Bliss: An Enemies to Lovers MMF Bisexual Romance. I love reading this author’s books.

This is Star, Avery Rathburn & Blaise’s story. Star’s mother died and her “uncle” raised her as a sex worker. He gave her shelter and food and not a whole lot of anything else.

Avery ends up buying her for Blaise. Blaise was Avery’s whipping boy and wants Blaise for no other reason other than for cathartic reasons. Blaise did get off on the beatings that he would get from Avery. But Blaise craves more than just the beatings from Avery and Avery just can’t give him more.

Star is surprising innocent and yet very worldly (due to her kind of work) & Blaise can be petulant & self centered at times. Star was there to fix things and give Blaise sex. Avery is the master and just can't give more than he gives.

I loved this story. The Sharp Edge of Bliss is smoking hot!!! Do know that this is a dark story with a happy ending. Sorcha Black put at the end of the blurb this book does some dark themes, graphic sex & kink and violence so be prepared.

Please, please, please tell me that Otis will have his story told too!

I got this book on Kindle Unlimited. And, I look forward to reading more books from this author!

~You Broke Him, You bought him~

I didn't know what I thought of the book up until I just finished the last word. It's a multilayered bit of a rollercoaster ride. Sorcha Black penned an intense dark keep you entertained story. The story just rolled and developed as you got to know the characters better.
I have to say I loved all the characters as much as they all annoyed me on different levels. Except for Otis he just rocked.
The girl such a sad story, I'd have gladly stepped into the book just to smack her Uncle, The boy 99 problems being a #@!% is one of them. The Man dark vicious but a monster? define monster.
Amazing detail capturing a hidden innocence. Describing detail you can hear the Opera, you can smell the salt off the beach. The layer of dark and dangerous, alternated with some hot kink and quiet need to love and be loved. Did I mention hot kink? *smiles* grab it and enjoy.

I have been a fan of this author for a very long time. I was excited to see her step out of her pseudonym and embrace the fact that she is a very talented writer. She writes with a strong conviction that can be felt in all aspects of the characters; their flaws, their emotions, their fears, and their weaknesses. That was especially true with this book.

I won't lie and say I was concerned at first about how this was going to be a MMF romance when there was no interaction in regards to that for a very long time in the story. I shouldn't have been worried as this author knows how to give her audience a little steam. And by little I mean a lot. It was hot, it pushed the boundaries and was definitely not vanilla by any stretch of the imagination.

This book would have ranked higher if the climax of the story didn't feel so rushed. There was just so much that I still wanted to know about the hows and why. When it finally came together it felt too perfect but at the same time imperfect. I did like the very ending to see that these characters did get to experience a love that many consider blasphemous but managed to do it in an imperfect world proving that love is love.

Dark Love?

I usually don’t leave reviews. I probably cried more reading this book than I have in a while. It has it’s kinky side, it’s sexy side but in the end it’s a love story. Rather dark at times but I loved it.

Wow! Star is being used by her “Uncle” Aaron as a sex worker to earn money to pay his debts. Star has no surname, and no birthday. She has been raised in the type of poverty that is devoid of schooling and love. She believes she is a pretty body, but doubts her own intelligence.

To pay a debt Star is sent to a wealthy man to make his young friend Blaise happy. Although attracted to her, Blaise does not seem to want her; Mr. Rathburn insists that she continue trying. Because of his job, Mr. Rathburn sends her out with his bodyguard to get clothing that is more appropriate for their lifestyle. Then, he gets Star a passport as the wife of Blaise and takes them all to Italy. Everything, absolutely everything is new and exciting for Star. Her innate intelligence and her honest, caring personality work with the two men to help form a fulfilling relationship.

This is the first book by Sorcha Black that I have read. Her words are entrancing and exciting. She makes me feel strong emotions for each of her characters. I love the way I have been able to watch each one grow and change and find their own inner soul. The three of them add to the love and caring of each other. They are like an erotic, decadent, sensual, passionate set of three unique individuals forged into one strong loving bond.

This was an absolutely uplifting and emotional story that I would recommend to all.

Told entirely through the eyes of Star.

The story began as Star is sent to a client's home.

I was immediately drawn to this young woman and eagerly waited to read about her journey. Oddly enough as a sex worker she had an innocence to her. She was sweet and intelligent.

Star immediately recognizes that her client is unusual. Mr Rathburn has no interest in her. He wants to use her for his "friend/companion" Blaise. His words "Make him Happy".

This story is different from any other MMF that I have ever read and as the author slowly removes layers of the story revealing the character of our players Star, Blaise and Avery Rathburn. I didn't know how we'd get to the point of the three coming together to form that MMF.

Blaise hates Star from the very beginning. He pushes and pulls her. He's frustrated with his relationship with Avery and wants nothing to do with her. The two men have a very complicated one. Star wants to become the bridge to unit their stubborn love. As Avery disappeared in and out of the story we get walls being broken down between Star and Blaise and it's revealed the true nature of Avery and Blaise relationship.

Without going into spoilers this story was dirty. Highly erotic with heart and emotion. Captivating from the start. Watching these three unique characters over come their challenges and embrace love for each other was a real treat.

This story was awesome!

I was looking for an introduction to Sorcha Black's books and wow did I find something good! The give and take between her three main characters was incredibly engaging, and the characters themselves kept me thinking on them long after I put the book away. They were realistic, flawed, intriguing, sad... it was just such a roller coaster. I liked the ups and downs immensely. I was curious about their history, celebrated their successes and empathized with their pains. It was very impressive. This may not be the book for every romance reader, as it does tread into dark waters, but for those who like some thrill, who enjoy erotic triangles, this may be the book for you.

What a fabulous book. I didn't want it to end, and am hoping for prequels and maybe a second book about Otis. That being said, I love hot alpha men that are damaged and think they're unloveable. It's great when I get a twofer. But what made this story for me is Star, probably my favorite female lead in years. She is just everything. Funny, smart, fierce, forgiving, loving...I can go on and on. I love her. She's everything right in the world and makes a good situation out of the worst while making sacrifices. The story has mystery, love, friendship, angst, and kink. It's got everything.

Family found

Avery, Blaise and Star have to go thru some very dangerous ups and downs, emotional, erotic and mind games in order to find a HEA and form a unique family. Danger, action, adventure, BDSM, erotic love scenes, enemies, lovers and new beginnings are what make this a great read!

This book was awesome! It had a slow start but once it got going I couldn't put it down! I loved Star, Blaise & Avery they just fit together. I loved that Blaise hated Star at first and then fell in love with her, I also loved that Avery also ended up falling in love with her. I felt really bad for Star and her life and was glad the ending gave some closure to her life and how she ended up where she did. The climax was intense and I was totally shocked by the turn of events but happy things ended well. I'm sad the book had to end I could have continued to read about this trio (and Otis) forever! A great read.

Star has a rough life and comes to pay off a debt to work for Avery, by being the companion of Blaise. Blaise finds Star attractive but is hot and cold with her. His love is for Avery who states he cannot love Blaise beyond the BDSM scenes. Star finds both men attractive and dark. Star bonds with Blaise and they end up being intimate. Avery appears happy but also angry at this, and after one scene with Blaise. Star pushes Avery to allow Blaise to see that he cares. This is a big step for all 3 characters. There is danger due to the work that Avery does but while that is occurring Avery is spending time with both Blaise/Star. Blaise takes his own step in the relationship with the 3. When danger finally arrives, Star is in danger and Avery comes to the rescue and reveals his true feelings for star. I loved the time skip seeing all the 3 together and their banter, the dangerous life is over and they are reconnecting with Blaise's family. And Star is free to be happy.

Absolutely fantastic!

WOW! This is an absolutely fantastic and highly entertaining story. It’s filled with phenomenal characters, angst, passion and erotic moments. The story had me captivated, laughing out loud and squirming in my seat! Intense, sexy, and definitely panty melting!

I absolutely loved Star. Even though she is a sex worker, she is also extremely innocent and very sweet. She was exactly what two very broody males needed to bring them together as a family - a very unique family! At times Blaise and Avery made me angry and very frustrated but then Star would say or do something to tame my frustration.

I loved all of this story from beginning to end. I could not get enough of it and I hated when it was over. That ending was phenomenal and had me chuckling out loud. So good! I can’t wait to read more from this absolutely amazing author!

I TRUELY ENDJOYED THE BOOK SO MUCH😭>>>

„Star“ was such an amazing female Main Character, she was so kind, funny and NOT ANNOYING which surprised me😭💀🙏She had been going through so much and was still such a good person.
Loved her.

I LOVED BLAISE ALSO he was so funny without even trying.💀💀Mr Rathburn was perfect for them.(kept things interesting)

I wished we would have seen more of their throuple relationship, more content of them with a real storyline (nothing actually happened tbh)

I loved the ending Chapter and them joking about which of them is the baby father😭>>

This is such a unique MMF story...I know you have to categorize it for marketing purposes, but calling it enemies to lovers is almost a disservice. It's much more than that. I see it as a second chance story among a ragtag group of misfits that are looking for a family.

We first meet Star, young, deeply submissive with no self esteem. She's a sex worker hired by a mysterious man to make a young man happy in any way. It is not clear what their relationship is...until she witnesses an act that both fascinates and horrifies her. Here's where Star gets really interesting. She's far from dumb and meek, and proves quickly how observant and clever she is. The diconomy makes Star the smartest one in the room. She sees that she has few skills and options, even when realizing how dire her circumstances are.

Some of the dialogue highlights how quick she is:

“When you travel with Mr. Rathburn, you can’t count on staying anywhere long.”
“So, seize the day?” I asked. “Or the sunset, as it were?”

“I don’t know anything, really. I just have theories. I’m hardly going to start making trouble for him, considering what he’s done for me.” I swallowed, a bit nervous that he might just abandon me here in Greece because I knew too much. I had no idea how to take care of adult things, let alone here. “It’s not like I’ve spent my life being a law-abiding citizen. What’s the saying? Glass houses?”

"But how could anyone like the amount of pain that was being inflicted on him? Or was this acceptance because it was the closest Rathburn got to touching him?"

And some will make you cry:

“You’ve never been poor,” I said, not knowing how else to explain it. “I’ve spent most of my life literally hungry. I’ve watched you throw away more food after a meal than I sometimes had in days—toss it in the garbage like it was nothing to worry about. You’re asking me if I would take a chance by leaving my old life, thinking you’d do it without question, but in the back of your mind you also know that Mr. Rathburn would never leave you high and dry, and that your parents or your sisters would catch you if you fell. No one loves me like that. If I fell, no one would even notice, let alone help.”

Star is very insightful yet resigned to her fate as a sex worker. It's a credit to her how she gets the men in her life to love her. The Sharp Edge of Bliss was a terrific title that sums up how sharp love can be. There's a line from Star that sums up so much of This story. "It was a painful form of worship." All the characters engaged in that sort of worship in their quest for the ultimate love. The unconventional love that suits only them. The kind of love that they would hold onto tightly. I realize that I have mostly talked about Star, but she is the heart of the story. The one who transforms enough to be the glue between two men (3 perhaps?) who didn't know they needed help until it came walking in.

Wow

I know this is a very uninspiring title for a review. But it isn't easy to summarize the feelings I have about this book.

The book is written from Star's point of view. And what a worldview we get! A sex worker by trade, we have insight into what it would mean for how you view people, survival, life if you knew no better. And although heartwrenching on some level, the story does not devolve into boo-me depressed lamenting. Instead, we get to experience the wonder of seeing and experiencing new adventures through childlike eyes.

This is still a darkish novel, based on who the characters are and the actions in the book—all consensual, of course. But, in my view, it is not really an enemies to lovers novel. Star and Blaise don't feel like they have the same animosity enemies have where the same goal is pursued to the detriment of the other. But their forced proximity and intimacy does lend itself somewhat to this genre.

The fact that we only get to know Blaise and Avery through their actions from Star's POV makes for an interesting and slower story reveal. We are never sure of the motivations and feelings of the other 2 characters. This creates a beautiful tension in the story. My interest is piqued; I will be thinking of the other characters we don't get to know so well for a long time.

Some caveats for this story: darkish non-conventional characters, pain as a BDSM element, some knife and blood play, MMF.
But if you can see through this, the story really documents an incredible path to a HEA.
