This was a good solid cookbook with lots of usable, realistic information. It never got preachy or Condon sending it simply laid out the basics of Indian cooking. You understood the difference different spices and ingredients and how to use them. BUT GOOD GOLLY IT NEEDED PICTURES! It’s layout felt messy but it definitely was not a bad book.

This cookbook lacks pictures, which explains the low price.
I looked at the author's blog, Cookalicious, before buying this book and enjoyed the recipes from there.
The blog has pictures, however, which just makes a difference for me.
But the recipes are good.

Some lovely vegan recipes in this book. Indian food is my favourite cuisine too so this book was a treat!

Some of the timings on recipes are a bit misleading which was disappointing. For instance, 10-15 mins to prepare plus 5 hours soaking etc.

I would have loved some more dahl recipes and also recipes that don’t require so many specific ingredients that are difficult to find in ordinary supermarkets. But I suppose that’s what makes the dishes so delicious in the end.

Excited to make the cashew fudge and tomato & coconut stew 🤩. Spinach & garlic naan was a delight.
