The truth doesn’t always set you free...

Theo

This isn’t the life I wanted.

Being a reporter for my family’s media conglomerate instead of a pro hockey player was never my plan.

And yet, here I am with no other prospects.

What I do have is anger. The all-consuming, isolating kind.

Until I meet Amelia. She calms my mind, soothes my soul, ignites my body.

Still … I sometimes wonder if fate brought her here to save me—or break me once and for all.

Amelia

All I ever wanted was to be a journalist.

Working for an almost tabloid is not ideal. But for now, it’s the best I can do.

I won’t lose my integrity, though. I’ll never be a liar.

Which makes my new assignment that much harder.

To keep my job, I need to use Theo for a story. It helps that my byline doesn’t match the name by which he knows me. Still … I like him. I don’t want to betray him.

And worst of all, he makes me want to extend our relationship past my policy of one-night-stands.

When the truth is spilled, will Theo and Amelia be able to take a shot at love? Or will their romance end up as nothing more than yesterday’s news?

Arell Rivers

For as long as Arell Rivers remembers, she has been lost in a book. During her senior year in college, she picked up a romance novel … and instantly was hooked.

She started writing her first novel, No One to Hold, because the characters were screaming at her to do so. The story started coming out in Arell’s dreams and attacking her in the shower, so she took to the computer to shut them up. But they kept talking.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Arell has what some may call a “checkered past.” Prior to discovering her passion for writing romance, she practiced law, was a wedding and event planner and even dabbled in marketing. She lives with a very supportive husband and two mischievous cats. When not in her writing cave, Arell can be found making dinner in the crock pot, working out with Shaun T or hitting the beach.

She hopes you enjoy her stories about flawed men, strong women and the passions that ignite!

Off course I'm giving 5 stars to one off my fav authors.

I love quirky romances like this.

Amelia is a bad arse journalist with a douchewaffle boss

Theo is a seriously sexy playboy.

Both come together and make sparks fly.

Beautifully written if I must say so myself

Anger (Sins of the Fathers #2) by Arell Rivers is a contemporary, mistaken-identity romance told in first person, dual POV.

Theo is a reporter for VOW-cubed, his family’s media conglomerate that is reeling in the wake of a business scandal. Amelia is a journalist tasked with using any means necessary to get the inside scoop on the VOW-cubed Media scandal. Anger follows the romantic relationship that develops between Theo and Amelia. The kicker? He doesn’t know she’s a reporter.

I enjoyed Amelia and Theo’s love story. I liked them both as characters, although it took me a bit longer to warm up to Theo, but I suppose that’s to be expected with his tantrums. There were some moments early in the story where I felt like I missed some information; there were also many names mentioned throughout the book, several mentioned only once or twice. I wondered if I would have had the same questions and if those names would have been familiar to me if I had read Arell’s short story from the Tinsel and Tatas anthology first. From what I understand, it introduced the characters from this series.

Theo and Amelia are a great couple with tons of chemistry. I loved how they fostered growth in each other, bringing out the best in each other. It wasn’t an easy road, but I was rooting for their happy ending. Anger was steamy, angsty, and very entertaining. I’m looking forward to Xander’s story in Pride.

Wow this is such a fantastic read.
Theo and Amelia meet briefly at a gala and then coincidently meet again at a cafe and they sit down and chat. They are both journalists at opposing Magazines, and unbeknownst to Theo ,Amelia has been writing articles about his family, and she has an alterior motive to wanting to get to know Theo.
She needs him for information for her next article about his father and their business and is being pressured by her Asshole boss to get info.
But Amelia is captivated by Theo,he is not what she expected and the attraction between them is soon acted upon....they undergo an intense, passionate affair and get to know one another.
But with Amelia keeping a secret,it is only a matter of time before everything goes to hell.
I really enjoyed this book,it kept me on my toes and I was so frustrated at times.
My heart was in my mouth because of Amelia's deceit and I felt like screaming at what she was doing with Theo....and when Theo opened up to her willingly being vulnerable and everything, I could feel Amelia's guilt ,because she knew deep down it was wrong and that it could only end in disaster.
Theo was so oblivious to Amelia's lies and usually being a playboy bachelor he couldn't understand the pull he felt towards her...he wasn’t used to feeling emotions other than Anger.
Arell's writing is Amazing and just sucked me into the whole complicated sexy Mess that is Amelia and Theo. There is so much more to this story than just a romance as there are other factors involved also.
I just couldn't put it down, because I just had to know what would happen I felt all the emotions.
I am looking forward to more of this series, I Loved it and highly recommend it.

The Lies Will Get You!!

Whether he likes it or not Theo, instead of being a pro hockey player, has to work for his family business which left him feeling angry all the time. I mean, who wants their life dictated to them. Then there is Amelia who is a journalist and is being forced by her boss to get the scoop on the business scandal that Theo’s family is under. One little thing with all of this is that Theo doesn’t know that Amelia is actually the journalist who has been writing these stories on his family.

You know that in time sh*t will hit the fan and she will be outed. Just how will this affect the connection that Amelia has felt for Theo? You’ll have to read Anger to find out just how all of this will work out but be ready for a crazy ride of emotions.

This is one read I was super excited for and couldn’t wait to dive in. The drama and storyline intrigued me. The character complexities of Theo and Amelia kept me wondering how they would mesh and how their pasts would affect relationships. I do admit this story started out a bit slow for me and there were some spots in the middle that had my mind wandering. It did pick up and I felt a lot for these two and all those affected. It also made me want to know more and what happens next. Now I will be anxiously awaiting the next story.

Anger by author Arell Rivers is book 2 in her new series, Sins of the Father. It is a different trope and style of story that this author has written and I am here for it! Her writing just gets better and better. I thought the Hold series was my favorite, until The Hunte Family series, but now with Sins of the Father? I'm in love with an angry man!

Anger is a mistaken identity, slow burn novel. It is angsty, steamy with unexpected twists that kept me turning pages. It is the story of Theo and Amelia.

Theo is a gorgeous, sexy and really angry young man. He is short tempered and does not trust easily. But he has a lot on his plate.

Amelia is beautiful, smart and ambitious. She has her own trust issues. She's driven to get ahead, but at what cost?

When they meet there is heat, chemistry and a quick decision leads to a misleading secret. Not the best way to start a relationship when trust is so hard to forge.

There is a lot of emotional drama and as the reader, knowing what's coming, it was like watching two speeding trains heading towards each other. But that's the thing about truth and lies, isn't it?

I love the journey of Theo and Amelia, not just their relationship but how they come into their own.
I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first but I loved them and was invested in their happy ending.

Looking forward to Xander's story!!

3.5/5 - Anger is the first book in the Sins of the Fathers series by Arell Rivers. I will admit I read these books out of order, the books were understandable, but I think if I would have started with this book, some relationships would have made more sense going into the two other books.

I enjoyed Theo and Amelia's love story and I thought they were interesting characters. I did have some trouble with believing Theo as this big, angry person though and it just didn't seem like him. I can understand his frustration, but to put that into anger all the time was just tough to fully believe. I found Amelia to be an interesting character, and the reasons she did the things made sense in her mind (though I didn't agree with her). Theo and Amelia definitely have chemistry and I really liked their deep conversations and how much they obviously cared for each other.

I have enjoyed this series so far and am excited to see what comes next from Arell Rivers!

It took me a while to get into the book but once I did I fell in love with Theo and Amelia. They both bring out the best in each other, by sharing and listening to one another, which helps them come to terms with their past lives. I loved that it was Theo's and Amelia's POV so you got both sides of the story. I enjoyed finding out about the side characters in this book and what an ass Amelias former Boss was and don't get me started on Darcey and Jackie. Overall this is a fantastic read and I'm so excited for the next book. I'm giving this book 4 and a half stars!

Theo and Amelia hit it off like a moth to a flame.. until some of their true colors reveal themselves... his anger that can get out of control.. and her deceit.

Can they work through his family's drama and illegal activities and become closer so they can move forward in their future?

I loved this book by Arell and I look forward to reading where the rest of the family ends up!

Love emerges the winner . . .
I wasn't sure what to expect of a book with Anger as the title but I am pleased to say that although the underlying theme is Theo's volatility and lack of trust and self-worth brought about by his disfunctional upbringing, I was hooked into this story from the first pages. Amelia is an interesting character also with her own issues and ethical dilemmas and it was pleasing to see her grow and start to stand up for herself as the story progressed. The chemistry between Theo and Amelia is sizzling but I was really struggling to see how this was going to turn out to be a HEA what with Amelia's deception and Theo's trust issues. To see how Ms Rivers pulls it all together and ties it up in a nice bow at the end you will have to read the book to find out!
After reading Anger I'm really looking forward to Xander's story.
I received an ARC of this story and this is my voluntary & honest review.

This is a great story about Theo Hansen reporter at VOW cubed and Amelia Bellamy is an investigative reporter for Spill It Magazine. Amelia is told by her jerk face boss Brad to use any means necessary to get the inside scoop on the VOW-cubed Media. A romantic relationship develops between Theo and Amelia and Theo has no idea that she is a reporter. Amelia has Theo feeling/dealing with emotions he has never dealt with before. Things are going great for them and Theo thinks about asking her to be his girlfriend until one day everything goes wrong when she is outed at their favorite Coffee Shop and Theo tells Amelia that he never wants to see her again. Her idiot boss told her to make nice with Theo and pump him for more information and she had had enough and she quit. I was angry at Amelia for the way she keep her true identity from Theo!! Amelia with the urging from a friend started a blog about the Ethics Of Journalism and wrote about her boss making her do what she did. Does Amelia and Theo find a happy ever after?? Well you really need to read the book to find out!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC.

Amelia is a reporter who works for Brad, a morally questionable boss, at a quasi-tabloid publishing company. She has been pushed around most of her life and has had to work hard for everything. What she wants desperately is to be acknowledged for the work she does.

Theo is a reporter working for the family publishing business. The founders of the company, his father and two uncles have just been arrested and are on house arrest by the FBI. Theo is a former hockey player who missed out on his chance in the NHL due to an injury by none other than Amelia's boss Brad.

Amelia writes a piece on Theo's family immediately following the arrests which Theo reads and is outraged about but Brad is happy and assigns her to write more about the company/ family. Amelia writes under her first initial and last name and when she meets Theo in a coffee shop and tells him her name her identity is hidden when her last name is misunderstood over the calling out of an order.

Amelia and Theo get to know one another and their chemistry is steamy!! Only Amelia knows the truth though and it is eating her up knowing that she is lying to Theo to get info for her stories especially as they grow closer. Amelia continues to write the assignments provided by Brad but is continually pushed for more and juicier stories.

Amelia and Theo find something with each other that thaws their frozen hearts but all that comes crumbling down when Amelia's true identity is revealed. Can they overcome the deception and find love? This book is about finding your person in the most unlikely place and situation.

I did not read the first book in this series but I don't feel like I am missing any parts of the story. This is really about Amelia and Theo and when others are brought in there is enough back story provided that I didn't feel like there were big plot holes. I really liked that they found things in each other that they didn't see in themselves.

I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

ANGER by Arell Rivers is one of those books you start and just can't put down.

Saying that, I will preface that the entire time I was reading it, I felt the closeness of Theo and Amelia and wanted to yell all sorts of things to both characters. Yes I get very involved with the characters I meet in books.

Theo is an angry man. Angry from his upbringing, angry from the things he was denied, angry from the things taken from him and mostly just angry in general. Angry is all he has known. In the midst of a family situation that is out of his control, he meets a charming young woman who makes him feel something other than anger.

Amelia is someone who has her own demons and secrets. When she meets Theo in the coffee shop, there is a definite spark they both feel. And while she tells herself she has to step away from Theo, fate seems to intervene and she finally gives in. Her career may be their undoing, however much she pushes that part of her life away from their romance.

The time Theo spends with Amelia, shows him that life can be more than seeing red. He can feel and express other emotions beside anger. She learns so much more about this complex man and while her job puts their relationship at a definite risk, she continues to see him.

I cannot express how much I truly loved this book. Yes, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I read the book, but it was a ride I absolutely enjoyed from start to finish.

As a fan of Arell Rivers, I expect an emotional ride and ANGER definitely gave me all I could handle and then some. A must read for fans of romance and of Arell Rivers.

A perfect title for this book. Theo was filled with so much anger that began from when he was young. His parents were so mean to him as well as the rest of his siblings. He has never believed in love because of how he was brought up. How could he expect to have a real love relationship with a woman if he were never shown love by his parents. But what he did not realize was that despite, how he was raised he still had a heart of gold, always helped his family even though they didn’t deserve his time. He was always there for his friends. Before he met Amelia, he never knew he was like this, but she opened his eyes to the man he was underneath. Amelia was only supposed to get a story from Theo. She only knew what she read about him. Once she started spending time with him, she saw the man he was underneath. Writing articles about what her boss wanted, sometimes not getting all the facts was something she had a hard time doing. The more time she spent with Theo the more those articles were impossible to write. Theo did not know who she really was, and she knew she would have to tell him eventually. Would he understand or think she was like every other woman who tried to get their claws in him, either for his money or his prestigious name.
I will admit this story started slow for me, but the more I read the more I was hooked. I loved how Amelia was like no other woman for Theo. She listened, she supported him, he shared things with her about himself and his family that he never shared with anyone else. For the first time in his life, he felt love. A great full-length story to start this series. Cannot wait for Xander.

The first 2/3 of this book is filled with a delicious sort of tension, where readers know there will be a reckoning, but they are not sure when, where, or how it will occur. Amelia Bellamy is an investigative reporter for a 2nd-rate publication, while Theo Hansen works for VOW-cubed Media, which finds itself in a news feeding frenzy because all three founders are under house arrest. Amelia’s scuzzy boss wants her to get the low-down on the story through any means necessary. Amelia has integrity, but she needs the paycheck, so she agrees to do the story with reservations. Theo is frustrated by articles written by an A. Bellamy, but he assumes this is a man. Amelia walks a fine line between being honest and getting input for her stories, all while letting Theo believe she is someone different from who she really is. It’s an interesting premise, and Ms. Rivers succeeds in pulling it off.

The tension stays tight throughout this entire story. The pace works for the story—it’s not speedy, nor does it drag. There’s a deeper story happening as well, as Theo learns how to handle anger and find forgiveness, and Amelia learns how to stand for what is right and let go of what is wrong. They both face multiple challenges within the story, and both protagonists grow a bit in the telling. The ending is delightful, as it’s not clear how things can possibly work out—but somehow they do! Theo’s anger gets the best of him a few times within this story, and those times are somewhat disconcerting. But he does his best to make amends, and that brings hope to the reader that he is capable of growth and change. This is an emotionally-charged story worth reading!

I have loved Arell's rockstar romances and read them all but I was not sure about this new series and it did take me a while to get into it. I was a bit lost at first and felt like I had come into the story part way through probably because I missed part one of Sins of the Fathers that was included in Tinsel and Tatas.

Theo was not a likeable character at first I mean who would want to date a guy who has a tantrum like that on your first date. Even though Amelia was sent by her editor to get the "down and dirty" on Theo, his family and the Vow-cubed Media I can't blame her for not wanting a second date and deciding to try elsewhere for her sources. However I thought she was a bit two faced as she never corrected Theo's mistake about her name so that while he was falling for her he didn't know that she was the reporter who had written articles about his family before. I was on edge while reading the story because it was obvious that her deception was going to explode in her face in any moment.

Despite this background their love story is sweet as they share pastries in the cafe but it was uncomfortable reading in parts as all the while Theo is unwittingly revealing family secrets and Amelia does not reciprocate much with hers. There are steamy love scenes that seem to be genuine for both of them and as they continue to fall for each other and for me Amelia needed to come clean sooner and decide which she wants more, her career at a sleazy magazine or Theo's love.

Arell's writing has definitely taken a different path in this book and I am not sure that it works for me, even though I love all her previous books so much.

Trust can't live in the same space as secrets and lies...

The truth will set you free. Yes, this phrase is used often, but in Theo and Amelia's relationship this rings true. Theo is from a well to do family. His father is part owner of VOW-cubed. Since he was very young Theo was constantly put down by his parents, especially his father. Anything Theo accomplished, was never good enough. Theo spoke to me emotionally from the beginning and my heart went out to him. His anger was always simmering in the background straining to release. And when it did release, it was brutal.

Amelia is an intelligent, strong woman who has personal family issues herself. She sets goals and works hard to accomplish them. When fate brings Theo and Amelia together, they are immediately drawn to each other. When Theo is with Amelia, he feels calm and content. A feeling he has never been familiar with. She grounds him. He has never met a woman like Amelia, ever. The passion they feel for each other is intense and fierce. Amelia actually listens to him and does not judge. When events occur that threatens his trust in her, I felt his betrayal and hurt.

The emotion and intensity of their journey left me with so many feels. The difficult roads they both embark on was so worth their final destination.

Anger by Arelle Rivers is part of the Sins of the Fathers of a new contemporary romance series about the fallout after a publishing house mongrel’s executives are placed on house arrest by the FBI for multiple charges including money laundering. The children of the 3 brothers or friends are experiencing direct hits as they attempt to hold the business together despite the VOW3 CEOs being arrested. This story is about Theo and Amelia, who are both journalists. Theo, a writer for his family media conglomerate, and Amelia write for a less than credible magazine. They meet by chance during a Breast Cancer fundraiser and again at a coffee shop. Theo has anger issues. He has never struck out at a woman, but is he capable of doing so, if in enough of a rage? Amelia learned she could calm Theo down when the opportunities kept cropping up as they get to know each other. But all is not what it appears to be on the surface with Amelia. Her boss wants her to use Theo to get a story about Theo’s family and his family’s business empires that fell into disgrace. Will she willfully deceive Theo in hopes of being nominated for a journalism award? Theo and Amelia begin to fall for each other, but will secrets and emotions drive them apart? This is the first book of the series. Pride is the next book to be released about Xander, another son of one of the Media’s owners.

Enjoyed this new genre from this author. Although, I found it a little slow at first. Once I got into it I became immersed in the story.
I must admit there was a part that disturbed me because I felt the issue was too quickly glossed over and not made a bigger deal out of. Understanding the actions and what triggered the anger, in my opinion, it was abusive. The resolution, again in my opinion, was rushed and not properly flushed out. This could be a trigger for someone.

Theo and Amelia are two individuals with problem pasts and issues to be worked out. Their current situations leave them with a skewed view of relationships and major trust issues. Each one is trying to carve out their own niche in life. Neither is looking for a relationship. However, life as we all know can have different plans.

I don’t do spoilers. I feel it’s not fair to the author. What I will say aside from the anger issues which is kind of evident and self explanatory from the title, there is compassion, understanding, a look at how everything is not always as we think it is, tenderness, a willingness to change, and heat. Then there is the major realization of the possibility of love for both characters. It is truly heart felt and cathartic.

I’m looking forward to see where the next book in this series ventures. I am fascinated by Xander.

Theo Hansen is trying to keep the faith that VOW-cubed will continue in business after the feds raid at the Tinsel & Tatas Gala. Being a former contender for the NHL Theo needs this to keep him going, under control and out of the public eye BUT when articles keep coming out about the owner’s of VOW-cubed by an A.Bellamy from Spill It magazine “Anger “ gets the best of him ….

Amelia knows journalism back and forth BUT never gets the chance to shine .. so when Brad gives her the opportunity to write about VOW-cubed she takes it !! Little does she know the sexy, hunky guy from her knew FAVORITE coffee shop is no other than Theo Hansen and they meet by chance or did they ??

Journalists have a code of ethics they follow and Amelia Bell doesn’t feel like she is following it because she is FALLING for Theo the more she spends time with him the more she falls !! She is trying to do a job but it gets harder and harder to do everyday. She needs to tell him who she is and why she is doing what she does .. for the Jenkison ??

Is it ALL worth it ?? No not in her eyes !! That is why Ethic Watch was born and love is in the air !! Loved the banter, the true story line and the sexy, hot, ANGER workouts !! Can’t wait for Xander’s book !!

As a divergence from her usual trope, Arell Rivers is trying her hand at a Mafia/Hidden identity story that works in some places, and doesn’t in others. I am a lover of her Rocker series and have followed her writing over time, however I had a difficult time getting into this story. It may be the topic, or the fact that I didn't read the Prequel from Tinsel and Tatas compilation, but it took me a bit to get going.
That said, I kept reading and the story did gel better as it went on. Theo Hansen is in a tough spot, where his family members are arrested (guilty?—that’s for you to assess!) and he was left running WOW-Cubed, their media company along with his cousin. It’s a slippery slope of a media circus and who to trust. Unfortunately, he put his trust in Amelia Bellamy, a writer from a competitive rag magazine who is trying to establish her place in the market via a story of Theo’s family. She is being pushed into this by her employer (who has no class), but unfortunately Amelia has no backbone and succumbs to the challenge, leading Theo on.
It's a good but predictable read, and if you enjoy Mafia/identity hiding stories it will be your bag. I guess I’m just a Rock Reader at heart! Rock On!

Anger is book 2 of Arell Rivers Sins of the Fathers Series. I read book 1 in the Tinsel and Tatas Anthology called the Tinsel Bomb. This is Ms. Rivers first time writing outside the Hot Rocker Genre that I am aware of and I have to say it is not my favorite. I found it hard to stay engaged in this book as I have all her others. I found myself easily finding other things to do other than read which is very strange for me, even my family noticed it.

Anger is the story of Theo Hansen and Amelia Bell(amy). We met Theo , Xander and Paige in Book 12 and see lots more of them in this book as well. After the arrest of the 3 founders of Vow3 at the TInsel and Tatas Gala the three families become headline fodder for all the local papers but one reporter irritates Theo more than any other, A. Bellamy. Theo accidentally runs into this reporter trying out a new coffee place near his office but interrupts her after only getting out Amelia Bell. They strike up an unlikely friendship, help each other heal and ultimately fall in love but can Theo get past her not telling him who she really was?

This is a decent read and I will read the rest of the series as a true Rivers fan.

The title of this book fits it perfectly for the emotions felt for so many things to go wrong when you think they are all right. Theo is just trying to work through a mess at work and Amelia is trying to further her career but trying to go at it in all the wrong way.

You can usually talk yourself off that cliff but when your own values start to pull at you it is best to try and go with your gut. That is what Amelia tried to do and so many times she wanted to come clean but was always on the cliffs edge to be pulled back. Well that was until a chance run in with an old enemy changed the course.

Theo had thought he found the woman of his dreams and that a chance meeting was fate. Little did he know in the get to know you phase of the relationship, she was covertly trying to get information from him. He was so infatuated with her he could not see that she was doing her job and how much it was killing her conscious doing it.

I could go on an on as this one had me boiling at times with deceit and also feeling helpless for Amelia and what she thought she had to do. If a story can pull even one emotion out of you then it is a good one.
