Humanity retreats as the infected continue to mutate into nightmare wielding super psychopaths.
There's only so much that can be accomplished with bullets and bombs against an enemy that just keeps coming. Culling the herd doesn't eliminate all of the strong ones. The truly evil malicious beings that are shepherding their infected flocks to seek and destroy the last remnants of sanity on the continent.
Against this backdrop of universal despair Yue, Drew, and LeBron struggle to navigate the currents of pandemic politics while still doing their best to help humanity survive. Assisted by the remnants of the US Military as well as the infamous Suicide Squad they do their best to fight the good fight. Guided by a strong sense of right and wrong instilled in the three of them by their late parents they're unable to just walk away.
Join them as they once again step up to the plate. It's the bottom of the ninth and bases are loaded with two outs already. The odds are stupid at this point. This trio still has to come up with the courage to swing for the fences though.
Living in a lighthouse as a child led me early to a love of reading. Despite what you may have been told the life of a lighthouse keeper's son is not all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf or watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of people's bodies. (You'd be amazed!)
Two of my favorite houses growing up!
I read. I read a lot. We had a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at my school where every time you read a book you put your name on your color paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give me two colors because it was looking more like a worm than a caterpillar. I devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of my life. I've moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and my guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!
I like reading about the extremes people will go to to survive. The ones who can rise above the rest and keep their sense of right and wrong. When humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes stand tall and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to keep themselves and others alive. I like to see how this either hardens or breaks them. I think these stories speak at a very primal level. I enjoy the journey greatly as I get to tag along seeing how the survivors manage and how the experience forges them into something more than they were.
I look forward to sharing the journey with you all!
Book 7 wraps up the Crawlerz series. Crazy that it is coming out in 2022! How is it 2022 already!?! But I digress. Book 7 sees our trio of extraordinary siblings drawing a line in the sand and firmly placing themselves on the right side of it. I'm looking to avoid letting any spoilers fly but suffice it to say they have their collective hands beyond full.
The e-book releases tomorrow (13th), the paperback is already out and we are up to working on number 3 on the audio versions for this series.
I found R.S Merritt by complete accident . I read the introduction to his 1st book in the series " Crawlers " so I read it . Mid-way through I could NOT put it down . I finished book 1 within a couple of days! I came to book 6 in the series to find out I had to wait for the final book to come out - I was bummed. I was so anxious to find out about LeBron, Drew & Yue. To find out if they had wiped out the crawlers , if they got married , had children , had , really , just found a spot without all the craziness. Book 7 came out ! Without going into detail and revealing too much the pace of this book is the same adrenaline that went through all 6 books before. But what I will say, if you read the books the suicide squad ...WOW !! I wish I had a Billy to my bodyguard ! They are some sexy beasts and Harley ?! I laughed so hard at some points . The visual I have of him is 7 Ft tall Neanderthal with such a wicked sense of humor ! Well, every character in the book had(s) an incredible sense of humor . There is non stop excitement and adrenaline. There are quiet moments , where you wished they all decided to stay in the caves and just live out their lives peacefully. There were sarcastic moments and moments I was so sure someone would die . And truthfully , the moments of I'm sure they are going to die were frequent . It was suspenseful from the first word in the first book to the last last word in the last book. Each character was never dull. Each character had their own story , they're own way of dealing with anything . The characters, supported each other , one never out did the other in terms of writing . When I was reading each book, each character had a equal part in all the books. It really was like a family ., they fought with each other , they protected each other , they loved each other and they all grew up with each other . It was well written, scary, funny , exciting, multiple moving parts . And like I stated earlier, the books were so on edge through the bulk of them I really wanted each of them to find a little island out in the middle of the ocean a& live out their lives there( or the well built caves ) . I am sad about Yue at the end , that she ended up how she ended up , her light was gone. I wish there was a " a few years later " end that you find out Yue made it " out " & she found her light . But hey you never know....
Absolutely loved this series! What a journey to be with these siblings and their crew as they try to save the world. Lots of action, lots of emotion. Sad to see it all come to an end. Wonder what’s next?
I have absolutely loved this series . It's been fast paced and full of action . I'm just sorry that it's ended . I don't say it about many books but this is definitely one series that I will read again . Definitely recommend that you read it.
These series were awesome. Kept my attention the whole way thru each book, so many things the siblings went thru. The book ended as it should. I'm not good at reviews but i would definitely recommend these books to anyone who likes any zombie type of books
What an adrenaline rush of a book, the Navy Admirals, the Amazon breaker, then the traitor Australian PM, and those battles. My heart is still beating. Excellent series, I'm sorry it's over, but oh wow. Thank you RS Merritt.
I read all 7 books in 6 weeks (give or take since I had to wait for #7). Very entertaining and the ride from beginning to end was fun and crazy enough ended with a love story. Now on to the next RS Merritt series!
This has to be one of the best series I have ever read. The books were so hard to put down every chapter an exciting turn. I felt like I was living and fighting along with the characters.
I've read them all, now. These books have a solid base with great characters you grow to love. A perfect balance between zombies and life. So much more I want to write, but I don't want to give anything away. Just read them.
I read all 7 books of the series in around 2 weeks (while working full time and caring for my daughter!). This was the most unique zombie series I’ve ever read/watched. The added psychic abilities was just icing on the cake and made it so much better! This would make an amazing series on tv. The only complaint throughout the series was the horrible grammar. It made it difficult to focus at times because I was just trying to figure out why there were so many mistakes! I am one of those annoying people who notice every error though. Most people probably wouldn’t even notice, let alone highlight every error I found in the kindle app 😂🫠🤦🏼♀️ I’m embarrassed to admit I did that but it made me feel better about it for some odd reason.
I never give a five star rating because there is always room for improvement but this last book in the series absolutely deserves it. It was predictable but unpredictable. There wasn't a quiet moment for the reader to breathe and have a rest. The horror of what Yue was doing for humanity really came through on this one. That moment when she tore the head off a man to hold it above her own head to bathe in his blood and gore...... Omg. It ended quite suddenly. I'm not entirely sure if that was the right way to go. Only because of the three characters, Harley, Billy and Tiff not being mentioned in the last chapter. Amazing, go get it and buy it.
I've enjoyed this zombie series because it gave me my zombie fix! Just like this series, I too have thought deeply about the family you make for yourself. I appreciate the togetherness the crew endured through the thick and thin of surviving a zombie apocalypse. Family are those that accepts our defeats and triumphs and still love us. I am ready for this series to end and there's a happy ending (sort of). I hope in the rebuilding that Yue will find peace with herself and not give in to the darkness. May everyone find love and live life to the fullest!!
Usually don't read these type of books because they freak me out. However, after reading a sample of book 1, went on a reading rampage & finished all 7 in a few days. Would never watch this if it were a movie -too graphic. But this was the best series of any type of books I've ever read. Just might read the others books by this author after a break from thinking about how unsafe my house is from zombies. Lol. Truly a great author.
Very sad for this series to end, but it was definitely a satisfying ending. I was a little sad about how the story ended for Yue, but I get it. Anyway, I enjoyed this series so much, I recommended it to my mother, who is now flying through them as well. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next 😁
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I will definitely have R. S. Merritt on my Short Lists of Favourite authors. Highs & Lows; very good character developments. I was in the US Navy, so NOT too many incorrect terms in here to NOT enjoy the story. Keep them coming!!!!
The crawlerz are evolving and now have leaders who guide the groupthink of the herds and are capable of projecting horrifying visions into the minds of the suicide squad members. Yue has also evolved, she can link into groupthink. Plenty of action filled scenes keep turning page after page.
The only let down is this is the last book in the series. Now what?
Endings. Was I ready for this one. No. I would recommend this series to everyone. You feel like you know the characters and its hard when you lose any along the way. My only wish for this was to have more details about what happened to some of the characters at the end. You won't regret reading this series.
I didn't like the time skip, especially at the end. And the overall ending was very rushed and vague and overall disappointing. The first book was absolutely amazing and it slowly went downhill, this book and the one before it being the worst. Also, it's 2022. Ignorance isn't an excuse when it comes to slurs
