An Alpha's Promise

Rate this book
Once Upon A Time…

That’s how beautiful love stories always start. Sweet Omegas and dashing Alphas meet, fall in love, and live happily ever after.

But not my story.

On the morning of her bonding ceremony my sister ran away, forcing me to take her place. My parents pushed me down the aisle and into the arms of a massive, aggressive Alpha to forge a union between our two packs. His overbearing size and temper should make me cower, but my wolf’s longing to be near him only fuels my desire and anger.

Forced to leave the only home I’ve ever known, I can’t help but fear how I will fit in with my new pack and mate.

An Alpha’s Promise is a standalone MF omegaverse, paranormal romance. It contains some violence, dominating Alphas, explicit sexual situations, and very dirty words. HEA.

Please note, if a strong female lead right out the gate is important to you, this book might not make you happy. Emmy has to learn to be strong. As a result she struggles for awhile. Please be patient with her.

My Review

3.5 Stars
This one was a bit of a mixed bag for me with equal positives and negatives. I definitely liked some things here much more than others but what I can’t fault it on was the writing itself which I did find good so my observations mostly come down to my own personal preferences. So the story was imaginative it’s set in a fantasy world of Alphas Betas and Omegas. I would have liked maybe a bit more elaboration on the wider range regarding the world itself it was somewhat explained but explanations were predominantly kept within the immediate packs themselves.

Here Emmy has to take her sister's place in an arranged mating to forge links between the two packs when her sibling Sara absconds on the eve of the ceremony. Emmy's new mate Rin the pack Alphas son is not overly happy with his replacement and he doesn’t hide his displeasure either; he was promised an alpha female and instead he gets Emmy a weak Omega.

So I didn’t like how the omegas were portrayed here I wasn’t a fan of the oppression and lowly status of the omegas. I also initially couldn’t stand Rin I thought he was awful he was callous cold and downright cruel in the way he spoke about Emmy. I will say he does grow a hell of a lot throughout the course of this and end Rin is a totally different prospect to what we first encountered he does eventually come to appreciate and admire his mate for himself but at least at first I wanted to do him some severe bodily harm.

Then there was Emmy herself I wanted her to grow a backbone I understood why she was so timid and fearful it had been hardwired and reinforced since birth but I still wanted her to rise above her circumstances and realise her own worth. When this started she did come across as quite pathetic she is also another character who experiences a lot of personal growth throughout which I’m glad of but I would have also liked her to at least initially have had more oomph about her.

This is dual POV and overall was an easy read. The Alphas here are actual shifters and this did feel more shifter romance than omegaverse. There is a mating bite some slight references to nesting and the usual knotting but on a whole compared to other books in this genre it felt more low- key.

This was still an imaginative well-written story there were just some things that were not to my personal taste and I wasn’t overly sold on the hero and heroine well at least initially (they did grow on me as this progressed) It had an engaging storyline and on the whole did manage to keep my attention despite not being fully to my taste. I voluntary reviewed a copy of An Alphas Promise (Hund Valley Series #1).

So the 3⭐️ I am giving this book is for the book being decently written.
2⭐️ for the rest. The characters go from not wanting/disliking each other to instalust/instalove with absolutely no build up to it.

Emmy and Quin are constantly fearful, crying and snivelling. When Emmy does show some backbone it is totally out of character for the rest of the way she is written. She is a very childish character and is not relatable at all. And Rin has a total character change in the book as well.

The various villains … Andrus, Hector, Davon, and Rollen’s actions make no sense whatsoever and shit just gets thrown together at the end to get the book done.

This was an absolutely binge read for me! I really enjoyed this book. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the MC Emmy, but I really loved her character growth and development! The romance was totally swoon worthy and I really loved this type of omegaverse romance.

Definitely recommend for your first intro to omegaverse and def recommend if you’re looking for a quick, 5 star read!

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed below belong entirely to me.

This one was such a a fun, fast-paced shifter romance! I inhaled it in virtually one sitting--it was totally unputdownable. I don't always enjoy werewolf love stories, but I'm definitely a sucker for an omegaverse novel and this one did not disappoint!

The plot centers around one of my ultimate favorite tropes as well--marriage of convenience. Emmy and Rin's happily ever after was such a treat to devour and I am SO pumped to read about Quin in the next one!

I love the omegaverse genre so I was excited to dive in to this new series by Kitt Lynn, and I'm happy to say I loved every second of it!

I love a good protective alpha who is crazy about a sweet and caring omega. Emmy and Rin have a rough start: she was forced to take her sisters place into an arranged mating with the powerful Alpha. While that, Rin felt tricked into mating a weak wolf. What starts off as hate and anger slowly becomes passion as they can't resist their connection and their instincts.

I am a sucker for power play dynamics which is why I enjoy the Beta/Omega/Alpha roles in the omegaverse world. The Omegas in the HundValley series are highly emotional and seen as something to cherish and desire. The side characters are one of my favorite elements of An Alphas Promise (my favorite is Quin) and I'm glad we get to see more of them in the sequels following their own love stories. I'm also curious to see what will happen to Sana so I am eager for her book! 😍

This was such an easy and super faced paced read for me! Throw a book about shifters at me and I’ll read it.

I’m really into omega / alpha books so I was super stoked that his book had that trope in it. Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of the way the omegas act. It grew old to hear about them crying in almost every chapter.

But honestly that’s my only critic! Because I so loved the relationship between Rin and Emmy. Loved their medium burn romance and the spice! That was honestly so perfect.

I absolutely adored Quin and I’m so pumped to read about him in the next book!

I’d you need an easy shifter read with spice, look no further!

I enjoyed An Alphas Promise greatly! It had a really great plot and romance!! This very much is kinda a insta enemies to insta lovers story, and I would’ve liked to see a more definite defining point of when they went from hating each other to loving each other but it’s not an unbelievable role reversal by any means. I loved the characters! Emmy and Rin are full of wit and banter and challenge each other at every turn, and while I love them I do hope to see them a bit more fleshed out in coming books as I feel there’s more of their story to tell!! There is some gore in this story but no worse than what you’d hear on a crime podcast or on a crime show but if gore is not your thing while it’s only in one chapter you may want to avoid this book, but other than that this was a well written shifter romance that any paranormal romance reader would enjoy.

I received an ARC copy of this book for early review

Emmy (h) is a Casin Village Omega who's forced by her uncaring family to be a last minute bride substitute when her Alpha sister runs off the night before her wedding. Rin (H) is the Alpha prince wolf shifter who' seen his Alpha bride replaced with her underage Omega sister. To say he's not happy would be an understatement, as Rin doesn't want a weak, needy Omega as his mate. Emmy and Rin have to grow in their relationship very quickly to become stronger and more understanding of one another and what they can both bring to their relationship. There's lots of action throughout this book threatening Emmy and Rin's HEA: threats, attacks graphic violence, familial violence, near rape, and more. Thankfully it's all balanced out with Emmy & Rin's growing feelings for one another, plus the hot, intense passion between the two MCs.

Triggers, notes, and warnings:
Please be aware this book contains some possibly difficult subjects.
The MMC is a hard Alpha that is demanding and not kind at first. The FMC comes from an abusive family where she was belittled and silenced. As a result, she struggles expressing herself, and is very sensitive.
There is also:
- Discussions of abuse (by a secondary character)
- Themes dealing with alcohol abuse (by a secondary character)
- Some gore/violence depictions
- Attempted sexual assault (by secondary character)
- On page murder
- Anxiety/anxiety attacks (of heroine)
- Death (not of main character)
- Grief
- HEA

There have been a lot of new authors releasing really good reads lately and Kitt Lynn is one of them. An Alpha's Promise is her second book ever, the first in the Hund Valley series, and she has done a really good job writing an MF paranormal dual perspective omegaverse. There were arranged matings between clans, mate bonds, knotting, slick, and all the other hot steamy stuff that comes with an omegaverse. Kitt also has some unique mythology when it comes to the creation of shifters that she introduces at the beginning of the book. The best part she does it in a way that was complete but quick and gave a pretty good sense of her world.

Omegas are treated differently in each pack, Emmy, the omega daughter of the alpha, was treated as a nuisance. The only one who treated her well was her sister Sana, so to say that she is a shy omega who isn't used to standing up for herself is an understatement but when she is mated to the Hund Valley alpha heir things change. Emmy grows a lot throughout the book, finding her voice, expressing her feelings, and standing up for herself and others. Emmy may have started out weak but by the end, she found an inner strength.

To say that Emmy and her mate Rin didn't get along at first is putting it mildly. Rin is a strong alpha but he's a little gruff and formal. Think of the alpha heir as a prince, this world is set up like royalty so certain things are to be expected and he keeps himself apart a little but eventually, he softens up. Rin cares for his people and takes his responsibility seriously.

However, Rin being conned by Emmy's father did not make things easy between him and Emmy at first. She was defiant and he was stubborn but they come around and things get steamy. I liked seeing them come but honestly, I have no clue where they turned the corner, one minute they hated each other, and the next they didn't.

So while the story was mainly relationship-based with Rin and Emmy getting used to each other there was also a back story of an alliance between their packs, a runaway princess, abuse, and some crazy alpha drama. The ending kinda surprised me, things got brutal but don't worry Emmy and Rin got their HEA. It also looks like a few side characters in this book are getting their own book in this series. Up next is Fated an MM omegaverse.

-----No spoilers---------
‘The alphas promise’ is about Emmy and Rin. Emmy is the youngest daughter of Hector, who is the head of Casin's herd of werewolves. Her sister Sana has been arranged to marry Son of the head of Hund valley. Emmy is an omega, who are the lowest in the hierarchy of wolves. She is the black sheep, everyone in her family or ancestry has been an Alpha. Her sister runs away on her wedding day because she isn't ready. It decided that Emmy will marry Rin. He is aghast when the truth is revealed. He initially treats her like any Omega but soon realises that she anchors him. Their relationship is full of angst, bickering and steaminess.
The story is dual POV, the desire to ravish the other is evident. Their attraction is quick but they care for each other. He doesn't let anyone treat her like an Omega, because he realises that she is damn stubborn and is not scared of anyone.
If you are looking for a fast-paced book, with some steamy scenes this is the book for you. It has angst, 'I dare you to touch her trope' (a personal favourite later in the story) shifter story, great romance and lastly amazing characters. there are some explicit crime scenes but not too detailed.
The little problem I had with the story was Emmy, she was sometimes whining and crying about anything and everything, which is the trait of an Omega but it became too much after some time. Apart from this small thing, it was a great read.

3.5 stars!

This book was is surprisingly good wow!! It was nicely written and is flowed really well! I just flew through it! it had nice characters, each of them had their very own sound, and also enough personality/their own traits and quirks! Which part of the plot being “old style, omega has to obey and is not allowed to do anything rule“ I was afraid that some of the characters would be very cliche and very annoying, but while there was a hint of “oh, I’ve read this kind of thing before” the characters of this book felt unique which prevented me from being bothered by that! The book was actually a decent length and allowed the story and plot to evolve on a good pace. Thinking back on it actually quite a lot happened and well it could’ve taken more pages. It also really didn’t feel rushed so good job there author!! However, it was actually quite a shame that this book wasnt 200 pages longer, because that would have allowed a well written ending, cause that was way to abrupt and a lot big issues they were dealing with weren’t solved!! The upside, however, is that this is a series and hopefully with introduction of the second book, we will not only see more of one of my favourite to-be couples but also see more of these issues resolved!
Definitely recommend and cannot wait to read the other books!

An Alpha’s Promise is the story of Emmy, a skittish Omega, and Rin, a domineering Alpha. Emmy was isolated from the outside world by her family. She was mistreated by her parents and older brother for her entire life. The only person Emmy had was her sister, Sana, a tenacious Alpha that was promised to wed a male Alpha from another pack to continue their alliance. Sana refused to be forced into marriage and escaped the compound right before the bonding ceremony. Instead of potentially starting a war between the two packs, Emmy was dragged from her room and pushed down the aisle to her new mate. Rin was displeased with Emmy and made it known that he considered her weak and pathetic. Emmy felt powerless to her situation and cowered in fear for a good portion of the book. Rin was a terrible mate to Emmy by claiming she was a burden, worthless, and he never wanted to mate with an Omega. He definitely made it known to Emmy that he wished she were her sister, Sana. Of course, Emmy begins to harden and stand up for herself. She proves to Rin that she isn’t a pathetic Omega, but someone worthy of his love and admiration. This was a really good story that held my interest. There was an enemies-to-lovers vibe between the two main characters, a dash of steamy spice once they finally connected, action, and great supporting characters that we’ll read in future books. I was disappointed there wasn’t more groveling done by Rin for his actions and words against Emmy. She forgave him all too quickly and I definitely think a couple of chapters of groveling would have made this book amazing. I’ll definitely be reading the sequels however!

Love, sadness, sexy possessiveness, and a happy ending is a guarentee!

Kitt has out done herself with this beautiful sequel in her series of hot, loving, and possessive werewolves.
I loved every second of this story and like the first, couldn't put it down. If you're a sucker, like myself, for a happy ending story filled with strong emotions, tension, and passion then you'll love this fantasy story. With each book I now find myself falling in love with the characters she brings to life and am SOOO ready for the next book.
I love the duel POV in thos story and how both Rin and Emmy grew into stronger people together and how they worked through both their personal struggles and the opposition they faced. It was a beautiful love story that is sure to leave you happy and hungry for more.

This was a lovely read.
Ronan was always meant to marry Sana due to pack politics, two fellow alphas cementing their union to guarantee peace. However, on the eve of their union, she disappears and her omega sister Emmy has to step in. She's always been looked over by her peers and her family, and as a result she's a bit shy and insecure. They both go forward with the mating as per everyone else's wishes. Most of the book focuses on how they go forward in their relationship, how they adapt to a new life together, and how they deal with the ostacles in their new life.
My only wish is that the story had focused a bit more and a bit more intimately on their relationship and how it was developing.

Emmy is an omega. She still is consider a young pup until the next full moon in several weeks. She is treated horribly by her parents and brother except her sister. Emmy and Sana are closer. Her sister Sana is an alpha like the entire family. She is to marry the alpha from another clan. Sana runs away. Emmy is forced by her family to marry the Alpha Rin instead.
Rin is furious that he was tricked into marrying the wrong sister. Then to find out he marked a pup is outrageous. He definitely doesn’t want a weak omega to be his Luna and mother of his children.
Yet there is something about Emmy that draws him to her.
Good story with lots of drama. Has a HEA.

Can you handle spice?

This is my first Kitt Lynn book. I received her second book in this series as an ARC read but I needed to read the first one before I could give it an honest reveiw.

There is a lot going on in this book.

Mating, hatred, running away, finding love, anger, sympathy, death, destruction and all out chaos.

In the land of Havre there are Alpha wolves, Omega wolves and Beta wolves.

The Casin Pack and the Hund Valley Pack are meant to form an alliance through mating two of their Alpha's. The only problem: Casin's Alpha runs away.

To solve the problem, the Pack Alpha takes his middle daughter/pup, Emmy, and gives her to Hund Valley's Alpha, Rin.

Can this Alpha and Omega make it work for the sake of their Packs?

Through twists and turns, we explore the vivacious and sometimes steamy romance budding between Rin and Emmy.

Wow action acted from the beginning I stayed up until 5am reading I just couldn't put it down I had to know what happened.

Sweet Emmy doesn't know whats going on as she is pushed to mate a wolf her sister was supposed to marry and leave her home and pack the same day. Strong rin is dumbfounded when he learns he was tricked into mating an underage omega. He lashes out at her at first but she finds her voice and you see the relationship change. So many twists and turns you don't know what will happen next.

Book 1 of the Hund Valley series by Kitt Lynn was a page-turner from the beginning. The author conveys a lot from all characters as they deal with the situations as they come. I enjoyed reading about Emmy and Rin’s love story immensely as the book had a lot of my favorite tropes and Kitt Lynn combined them to put out a sweet romance with a spice kick.

Emmy is an Omega who gets herself a mate because her sister abandons the duties thrust upon her. The book thus also had enemies-to-lovers, and an arranged marriage trope, the latter of which is one of my favorites. Along with this, the book also had a chosen mates trope that paved the way for love to blossom.

I loved the growth of the protagonists’ characters and their relationship. Emmy found a mental strength that made her shift from an under-confident submissive to a gentle soul with a strong willpower. She trusts Rin and supports him even while standing up for her beliefs and moral compass.

First off, I loved this story. The characters, the story line and spice were all there but I wished I had 100 more pages to see it all come together more fluidly. Things were a bit jumpy and there were tidbits of information given that I simply wanted more story from because they were so interesting.

Overall I’m excited to see what else comes from this author. And will definitely continue to follow her work.

I really enjoyed this book. The pace of the story was great, just the perfect amount of spice, characters were likable and fun to read. I loved the push and pull of the relationship between Emmy and Rin. Quin was my favorite character. His bubbly happy personality just made me smile. If you like shifters, this needs to go on your TBR.
