I have to admit I am a sucker for the opposites attract storyline, but this book had more to it than that. There was a certain sweetness to the story that I really liked. I have to be honest and say that there is not a lot emotional angst in this book, it's more of a sweet, light and sexy read, but honestly that's what I really liked about it.

Nathan has the 'corporate america' image down perfectly. From his perfectly pressed clothes to his hundred dollar haircut, Nathan is serious about working hard and being successful with his career...even if that means hiding his sexuality. So when he is asked by some clients to wrap up their meeting at the local strip club, who is he to say no?

As the meeting progresses Nathan becomes uncomfortable and bored so he bellies up to the bar to get a drink. He is stunned be the immediate attraction he has for the bartender. Pierced, tattooed and very sexy, Nathan strikes up a conversation with the sexy bartender and things start looking up for Nathan that night.

Jamie has a strict policy of not hooking up with customers, but when he meets Nathan, sparks fly and his golden rule flies out the window. Jamie doesn't know why he so attracted to the straight-laced Nathan, but finds himself doing and saying things that is out of character for him, just so he can get closer to the man.

But, as Jamie and Nathan become better aquainted they are faced with problems along the way. There is a jealous ex-lover in the mist that wants to keep them apart. Plus, will they be able to find a common ground even though they are so different?

I have to say that I really loved this book. It was what I needed after some heavy moments this week. Fun, sweet and lighthearted...I loved the characters and enjoyed watching them meet and fall in love. (Plus, Jamie is VERY sexy...whew!)

If you are offended by explicit M/M sexual relations this book is not for you.

4 to 4.5 stars...loved it

This story is about uhm, 70+ pages, and 50+ pages of it are just descriptions of seduction and love making?! After the first 20 pages or so, I was like, "GET ON WITH IT!!". And what's with the overused of "honey", for like every single line??! I end up skimming the rest, not caring about the love making scene because I know that after I finish, I will just bury this one in a pile of those I will not remember much from it. Yep, I prefer my story to be more than just that, please.

This was a quick read to fill the time, and it would have been a fun one, but it went way overboard with the terms of endearment right from the MCs first meeting. Too hard and irritating too ignore I'm afraid. But included in this book is one of the hottest M/M sex scenes ever printed. Unfortunately even that couldn't out weight the "dearlings" and the "honeys".

Recommended only if you can handle insta-love in a non-shifter story and syrupy sweet endearments spoken between MCs in and out of bed.

1.5 stars. So-so m/m romance about two unlikely guys (a bartender and a business analyst) getting together. I had a hard time finishing this one - besides the insta-love, the language was of the overwrought, overblown sort that I expect to find in an old-school m/f romance with a swirly pastel cover.

fast on the "love" announcement and long drawn out sex that lasts for pages. Short, inconsequential crisis that lasted a few pages....not much substance but a good read if you're in the mood for something short and sweet.

BUT the ending was HILARIOUS

Oh. My. God! I think I must have been stoned when I first read this...I was definitely 'in my happy place' because when I re-read this one I was seriously squicked out with the nick-names..."honey" could be tolerated but "dearling"...seriously?...DEARLING?!?!?...really?...ack!

Original rating - ★★★★

Original review - This was a lovely little story about the lust-filled early days of a new romance. I prefer my stories longer but I liked the fact that the authors didn't try to fit too much story into a limited word count. The story covers the first 8 days of the romance with lengthy descriptions of passionate lovemaking. In & of itself, the story was wonderful. The reason I only rated it 4 stars was that I found the nick-names that the lead characters used for each other too saccharine. Every time I read 'dearling' or 'honey' I went all squirmy & embarrassed. All the snookums & sweety-pops, snuggle-bum language makes me want to gag. Aside from that it was, as my title said, a hot quick read.

Nathan is an uptight business man. One evening he is in a strip club with some colleagues from out of town and he is deeply bored. He has no interest in women, he is gay even if he is not out at office. But while searching a distraction at the bar, he gives a second look to the bartender, he suddenly realizes that maybe he has found what he is searching since a life.

Jamie is a tattooed and piercied sexy man. But despite his exterior, he is not a man searching a one night stand. And when he sees Nathan, good boy and sweet eyes, he is sure to have found the real thing, and he doesn't want to ruin everything moving too fast and uncaring. Nathan is a man to woo, and he has every intention to conquer him, body and soul.

This is a pretty classic story, the bad boy who meets good boy. It's also pretty erotic with two very well written sex scenes, the second one so involving and heavy that the surprising end is very right. It's so well written that I could easily play it by imagine in my mind while I was reading it.

Usually, to mix the things a bit, the business man is the man with power and he swepts away the blue-collar character like Prince Charming with Cinderfella. Instead here Nathan is a sweet and tender guy, who needs reassureance and deep love, and Jamie is a selfconscious man, who is not intimidated by the different social status, and knows well that he is the stronger in the relationship, and he treats Nathan like a precious thing, like a real gentleman does with his beloved.

A story which appeals both to my romantic side than to my naughty one, I always love the opposite attract situation.

My first warning for this story is that it's very short. Despite this, it was an endearing tale. If you're looking for something light and fluffy, with a sensuous edge than this is a good pick. It delivers an erotic punch that does the job. If you're looking for something with a deeper plot than you'll want to move on. Exception to the Rules is the story of Nathan and Jamie, two people from different worlds, who come together. There isn't much angst or build up. Ms. Sutherland and Ms. Labbe make an effort with Quinn, but it's evident that it's an attempt. Quinn's character is very one deminsional and forgettable (albit somewhat cliche) and could have easily been done without. For the small bit of conflict they were trying to bring in, they could have easily played on the fact that Nathan was technically in the closet at work. I feel like that would have given the story a bit more substance. I personally would have preferred to see Nathan and Jamie in a deeper, more drawn out plot that develops their love more instead of the wham-bam-thank you m'am. Nonetheless, they delivered a heart-warming tale that does exactly as it promises and gives you an x-rated story book romance. Technically I give this story a three and a half stars, because despite it's lack of true plot it is really good and the final sex scene alone is worth half-a-star. HOT!

My teeth still hurt from all the sweetness. Seriously. I think I got cavities. It's practically love at first sight, and the endearments start flying right and left (honey and dearling, among others). I realized I was skimming the sex scenes -- and I never, ever do that -- to get away from the cloying saccharine sentimentality. The one interesting scene -- with an ex-lover of Jamie's -- was great, then back to more oh-my-god-I'm-so-in-love-with-you ... after only a week.
I like a bit of tart to go with my sweet, and this didn't work for me. Which is a shame, because it starts out really well, and isn't badly written.
If you like short and sweet, go for it.

You don't have to tell anyone else that you are reading such a hot book, but, then again, considering how great it is, you should probably tell everyone you know (who reads anything).

It might be a challenge to two people (to keep going), but this would be a really fun book to have somebody read to you.

Off the high end of a Farenheit thermometer!

A very sweet story. I enjoyed the characters and the story, but it was too short. I felt the chemistry between Jamie and Nathan, it was so intense. The authors made me feel like everything that happened between them was natural and, maybe, fated.

I have to say that the last scene was so hot it scorched. It was probably the hottest and rawest scene I've read in a while.

What a sweet story. I totally love the "opposites attract" thing when it's written right. This was definitely written right. It was a short story that did not need any more added to it. That's rare. Everything was summed up in the few pages.

hot sex, but the falling in love was a bit rushed.

An ex at the end that didn;t serve much purpose...still a good read.

So close to being really good... But "dearling"?? I cringed at some of the terms of endearment. Cute, hot little story but just didn't fully connect with Nathan and Jamie
