Read 1/3 of book and just too much. Heroine is attacked 5 times in the first 1/3 and then her friend decides to come and visit during a time of extreme danger and bring her pets with her. What kind of friend just invites herself and even after she is discouraged from coming. On top of which it isn't even her friends home so she is inviting herself to a perfect stranger's home. Could not finish.

Potential Wasted

The book had a great premise but devolved into a series of attacks on the heroine that she kept escaping in ridiculous ways. Added to this for some reason, the hero and heroine just stayed in the house that obviously the villain knew about. The police kept getting distracted instead of offering protection. And the attacks just kept coming. There was a tornado and a stampede! Honestly, the book was a mess. The villain was easy to determine but the reasoning behind the attacks made no sense. I was expecting a big payoff after reading through that many attacks but I felt I wasted my time. Then the hero and heroine got married. The End. Seriously!

This was an excellent book that I read pretty much in one sitting. Many years ago, Madison Burke had a dispute with her dad and left Oklahoma to seek a career in Boston. She had just nearly been mugged on the way home from work and now she is escaping Boston to go back and spend some time with her dad, who is having some health issues. Still, the whole way to Oklahoma she feels as though someone is watching her. When she arrives, her dad and former Navy SEAL Briggs Thorpe meet her at the airport...and just in time to save her from being shot. Briggs assigns himself the job of protector and they try to figure out who is targeting her.

I bought this book because it has buffalo on the cover, is set in Oklahoma, involves a SEAL, and is about someone trying to kill a journalist for unknown reasons. The story was very suspenseful, action-packed, and had an unexpected villain. I’ll be reading other books involving the Thorpe brothers. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Edge of your seat suspense

This is the first book by this author that I have read and definitely won't be the last. The action in this starts at the very beginning and doesn't end until the last chapter. The culprit is someone you don't even suspect. You will love this book!

Sommer Smith writes a suspenseful, faith and courage filled book that was impossible for me to put down. Madison Burke, a Boston based journalist feels like she is being watched after what the police say was an attempted mugging. She does not think that is the case. Her dad, a ranch foreman, is having some health problems so she decides to go see him not only to check on him but to make amends with him after being estranged from him since her mom passed away. Trouble follows her there. Also friends who might not be what they seem show up as well.
Stampede, tornado, fire, explosions all occur as well as attempted kidnapping. Will the mad guys win or the good guys? Will her dad recover from a heart scare? Navy seal Briggs Thrope and the one in charge of the ranch is there to do all he can to stop the attacks on Madison and the ranch. Police get involved and mishaps happen. Get this book and read it to find out all the twists and turns and how it all works out. You won't regret it. This review is my own opinion and all thoughts are mine.
Thanks Sommer Smith for thus great read
