Hope Harbor is a beautiful place on the Oregon coast where those who are hurting and need a new start in life can go to heal. A trip back means visiting old friends, like Charley, a wise and knowledgeable taco maker and artist, two wise clerics who are friends and jokesters as well as golfing buddies, one a priest and the other a Protestant minister, and a host of business owners and professionals. In this story we meet Ashley, an historian who is there for a new start after a broken relationship and a job that went up in flames and Jon, a wounded and scarred war veteran who has given up on love and God. Theirs is a sweet story of healing, faith, and new beginnings.

This is my first time reading a novel by Irene Hannon and it won’t be the last one of her books that I will read. I throughly enjoyed her delightful cast of characters. Both Jon and Rose were somewhat reclusive as they tried to stay in the shadows while in public. Ashley was outgoing and up-lifting. All three had been hurt deeply by the ones they had loved. It took me a few chapters to get into the story but as it unfolded I found myself drawn in and eager to see how it all worked out as the ending came into sight. The book was entertaining, romantic and clean read. The Author has won me over to her writing style

The theme of this book would be that beauty is only skin deep and what’s on the inside, the heart, a persons character, their personality is what’s most important in a relationship. Jon was a war hero , wounded and scared for life. Rose was an older wealthy woman who had married a man who scammed many people in illegal business dealings. She was a recluse who hid herself from the public’s eye. She had also lost a child in her younger years . Rose had a few secrets that few people knew about. She was in the world but not of the world. Ashley was a beautiful woman who was an historian and loved to work on old Victorian style houses and turn them into business ventures. She had a genuine personality and was successful in business but not in her love life. A man had used her for her looks and then broke her heart. Hannon brings these people together in this book with a beautiful story that will keep your attention till the last page.

Readers of contemporary romance, clean read and women’s fiction will love this book. It is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone book. I recommend it! Windswept Way is scheduled to be released on 4/4/23.

I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

I love Irene Hannon’s little town of Hope Harbor. It is filled with such wonderful characters and stories. This one was particularly touching. Hannon tackles a subject that is difficult and eye opening. And as always, there is another story in the background. And Charley, the taco guy is a favorite. I look forward to more from Hope Harbor.

A delightful read! Hope Harbor is a charming town on the Oregon coast, and it's habited by a wonderful group of people. Ashley loves history so when the opportunity comes for a new business venture, she's intrigued at the opportunity to become part owner of a dazzling historic estate. Ashley and the owner try to turn it into a wedding and special event venue. Jonathan owns a landscaping business so he is hired to revamp the grounds before the venue's open house, and sparks soon start flying between Ashley and Jonathan. both have scars, Ashley is healing from emotional wounds from a broken relationship and Jonathan has deep scars, both literally and figuratively. I wish we could have gotten more scenes between Jonathan and Ashley.

Clean/contemporary - Christian romance, It is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone book. I recommend it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an eARC of this novel from the publisher (Revell) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Enjoyed this beautiful, touching romance filled with second chances and hope! This is my first book by Irene Hannon and won’t be my last! I loved the little town of Hope Harbor and its charming inhabitants. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, and thought it was going to be a mystery, but was soon pulled in to the story of a young woman seeking a way to use her inheritance to turn a gorgeous mansion on the Oregon coast into a wedding & event venue. It’s a delightfully woven tale of romance, second chances, faith, and friendship.

This story beautifully illustrates the idea of renovation not just for the mansion, but the three main characters featured. Rose the elderly mansion’s owner is a recluse who has shut herself off from the world because of her husband’s misdeeds. Ashley is a bubby, delightful young woman with a degree in historic preservation and architectural history. She seizes the opportunity to partner with Rose and transform the mansion into the perfect event venue. However, Ashley is also recovering from a betrayal and broken heart.

Jonathan owns a landscaping business and partners with Ashley to restore the grounds, but similarly to Rose, hides himself from the world. He was wounded in Kandahar and carries terrible scars both physically and emotionally. The impact these three strangers has on each others’ lives is inspiring, and for Ashley and Jonathan, perhaps a second chance at love.

I loved these characters! Rose was full of surprises and hidden talents. I loved all the mentions of music and could literally hear it in my head. There were a lot of mentions of the Phantom of the Opera which was somewhat fitting as Ashley is the muse who inspires Jonathan to venture out and take a chance. Unlike the ill-tempered wounded phantom, Jonathan is a kind, loving man who extends a great deal of patience and understanding to everyone but himself. I loved the way his scars were realistically dealt with and the message of “it’s what’s on the inside that counts.” Ashley is the catalyst for change and brings with her lots of sunshine and contagious enthusiasm.

It was an enjoyable story and I look forward to reading the other books in the series. Recommend to contemporary Christian fiction, and chick lit fans. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are completely my own and provided voluntarily.

Enchanting story of wounded warrior, Jon Gray, who had to change his career plans after extensive injuries. Ashley Scott had her job go up in smoke but finds a new opportunity in Hope Harbor. It was great to go back to one of my favorite fictional settings. I would love it to be real. The familiar people, Charley and his taco truck, the golfing buddy clerics and even Floyd and Gladys, the seagulls, just make it that much more enjoyable.
The theme is: look beyond the physical trappings and into the heart. Many things can cause us to be reclusive, but God often works through other people.
Ms. Hannon always infuses her stories with hope and faith that we can all take a lesson from. The community is welcoming and people look out for each other. And romance is there waiting!
I love the premise of Rose wanting to partner with Ashley in order to bring life back to a beautiful Victorian mansion by making it into a venue for weddings and such. Second chances are not just for old houses but for wounded souls and recluses.
I am excited that there are more stories planned for Hope Harbor. I’m not ready to say goodbye yet!

This story was heartwarming and included a beautiful message about not judging by what we see, but to always remember there is more to a story or person. Especially in a world today where appearances are emphasized and where we forget what really matters is the heart.

I enjoyed my revisit in Hope Harbor and that my favourite scene played out on Blackberry Beach, which is still a favourite book in this series.

The author handled the mysteries around Rose well and revealed the story at the right moments.

The struggle Jon faced felt realistic and his fears made sense. Ashley was a great leading lady to love from the start and to love.

I also loved how different people at different times spoke to Jon, but basically delivered the same message.

We finally get to meet the elusive Rose, who keeps to herself at Edgewood and see the home and grounds. We are following Ashely - who hopes to partner with Rose to turn Edgewood into an event venue, Jonathan - a landscaper and wounded war veteran who limits contact with others, and Rose - the owner of Edgewood who is known as a recluse. Each character was unique, and I wanted to get to know each of them. I especially enjoyed the way certain characters would tease and push other ones. The friendships felt genuine. Charlie's knowledge of happenings felt more believable than it has in previous books. I really enjoyed following the storyline of letting people see the real you, and what's on the inside is what matters, not your outward appearance. We see each of three main characters grow and open up to new possibilities. I've fallen in love with the community of Hope Harbor and its residents, love the community feel, and how they all accept and encourage one another.

In Windswept Way Irene Hannon once again retains her crown as queen of the slow burn romance! 5 stars!

Hope Harbor in all its small-town charm sets the stage for the unlikely pairing of historian and event planner Ashley Scott and war veteran turned landscaper Jonathan Gray. Both have endured past traumas in this poignant tale of love and loss. I really enjoyed their effort to fight the attraction as they gave it their best to remain neutral throughout their business dealings...even though it was to no avail. Which leads to the main theme of the story, is beauty only skin deep or is there more value to be found beyond a person's outward appearance? Hannon gives readers a lot to think about while putting Ashley and Jon through many ups and downs. The most touching scene comes when Jon is willing to take a chance and lets Ashley see the man he truly is, inside and out.

It was a pleasure to be back in this idyllic setting and visit with Charley, Reverend Baker and Father Murphy in addition to new characters Rose and Kyle. Rose had a lot of surprises up her sleeve and I love this secondary theme of never being too old to share your talents and be a part of your community.

I'm thrilled to know there will be a tenth book in the Hope Harbor series! I hope it never ends! I appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy of Windswept Way, via NetGalley, available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

Ashley Scott needed to find a new job. She loves being a historian but she felt she needed a new adventure. In Windswept Way by Irene Hannon, Ashley moves to Hope Harbor in the 9th book in the series.

As Ashley works to turn a beautiful older Victorian house into an event center, with the help of the elderly owner named Rose, she meets a variety of towns people. I love that characters from past books continue on in the series. Charlie, the artist with a taco stand, is one of my favorites. In Windswept Way, Ashley gets to know Jonathan Gray, a former vet who own a landscape company that she hires to do work to restore the gardens and grounds to get the mansion up and running for events. Will the sparks that fly between Ashley and Jonathon lead to more?

I enjoyed Windswept Way so much that I read it within a couple of days. I like that Hannon had a male main character who is a veteran and has physical imperfections as a result. I could understand the challenges he faced in our instagram-perfect society. I appreciate how the characters handled certain situations and how real they seemed to be. Their conversations seemed quite realistic. I also liked how faith played a part in this book and seemed to be quite genuine in several characters, as well as the way it was presented. I always appreciate Charlie's elusive nature and his gentle faith and practical guidance. He certainly is a favorite character. Another aspect of this book that I enjoyed was the older character Rose. She slowly grew emotionally and spiritually to make changes in her life to help others too. It is such a good reminder that we are never too old to try new things or to be used by God to help others. As I shared, Windswept Way is a part of the Hope Harbor series, but it could also be read as a stand-alone and enjoyed that way.

HEALING, HOPE, AND HAPPINESS

Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor Series is one of my favorites for several reasons. The setting is in Hope Harbor which is on the Oregon Coast, a small town where people still take time to invest in one another, and a place that sounds like a delightful place to visit (or even move). In Windswept Way, Hannon showcases her award-winning writing style with another beautifully written story of healing, hope, and happiness.

What I like best about Windswept Way is how Hannon uses the examples of three different types of people that others, for the most part, have chosen to forget about. One is a Senior Citizen that has become a recluse due to some actions of her former husband, one is a young woman who is beaten down and desperately in need of affirmation, and the other is a Veteran whose physical scars are keeping him from the relationships he deserves. The surprise character in the story is an isolated property that was once a showpiece. It has also been forgotten about without a family filled with love to dwell in it. Will Hannon’s three forgotten characters be able to pull together and find a way of healing, hope, and happiness as they work to restore the once grand home.

Although I have other books in this series on my TBR shelf this is my first Hope Harbor book and I loved it. This also is my first Irene Hannon book ever. I know what is wrong with me?! Apparently I have been living under a rock. I have heard great things about this author, hence why I own several of her books but sadly I haven't gotten to any of them but I definitely will be changing that!

This book takes us back to Hope Harbor and I can say that they can definitely read it as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I was missing anything but I will definitely be reading them in order so that I can meet the different characters that popped in throughout this story.

In this story we meet Ashley and John. Two very different people, from different backgrounds but both carried with them scars from the past. Some visible and others not so much. The story definitely reminded me of Phantom of the Opera/ Beauty and the Beast and I loved that this was incorporated towards the end of the story ( you will love that part!!) We also meet Rose who is the owner of the house in which Ashley wants to restore and repurpose. Rose was probably my favorite character of all. I loved that she came out of her shell throughout the story and welcomed herself into society. She also had a bit of a mystery going on with her and I must admit it took me the whole story and I did not have it figured out but I loved how this older lady just had a zest for life.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. I really liked how Irene weaved God's faith throughout the story and how some of the characters were used as the vessels to portray God's infinite love to the characters. If you enjoy Christian contemporary novels I definitely recommend this one. I for one can't wait to return to Hope Harbor!

This is a beautiful Beauty and the Beast inspired clean romance. John suffered extreme wounds due to an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan. At the time, he was engaged to another woman. When she saw him in the hospital and saw the extent of his injuries and scars - she called off the engagement, leaving him to believe no woman would ever love him. This also caused a rift in his faith, and he pushed God away for years.

Ashley, driven by impulse to apply for a job restoring a beautiful historic home in Oregon, moves from Tennessee alone to start a new life. She recently suffered a broken heart herself and is in need of some time to heal.

As these two come together, God uses their budding friendship to start to heal them individually. As friendship begins to turn to more, they are faced with the realities of what challenges a future together will bring. Are they willing to move forward?

I really enjoyed this book, it was the first by this author that I've read that was outside of the Christian Suspense genre. I wasn't sure going in, if I would actually enjoy it or not; however, this was a really wonderful read. The faith content was pretty mild, but ultimately does point to God as good and faithful, with good plans for his people. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Ashley has decided she needs a change after losing her job. She decides to be part owner of a gorgeous estate that she wants to host weddings. She meets a landscaper who keeps to himself due to the scars he suffered during tge war. The mire time Ashley spends with Jon, the more she loves him. This book was well written.

This is another delightful romance from Hannon that deals with a number of issues. Do we judge a person by what's on their skin or what's in their heart? Do dreams have to die when a tragedy causes physical disfigurement? Is it best to hide, whether it is behind a curtain in a house or behind a face covering? Can one break through possible criticism to dream again?

I like how Hannon has parallel threads in the plot. The framework concerns the renovation of an historic house. Woven through it are threads of restoring dreams and of taking a chance on love after rejection. A supportive community helps pave the way.

The main characters are developed well. Ashley and Jon are both recovering from rejection. We hope they can overcome serious obstacles to love. I liked the support characters too. The taco truck fellow who is also an artist and the pastor and priest, good friends who tease each other. There is dear Rose who might just be challenged to end her reclusive life. I liked the two seagulls too.

Hannon's writing style is a pleasure to read. She can have a character make some suggestions about plants that are also insights into relationships. It is a clever technique. While this novel is down the line in the many ones taking place in Hope Harbor, it reads very well on its own.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

An enjoyable book in this series and may be my favorite so far.. All the books follow the same pattern - a man and a woman who are both fleeing relationships because of past experience. Usually, one of them is from Hope Harbor and the one is a new resident or possible resident. My biggest criticism of these books has been the instant physical attraction and continued discussion of that. It is very unrealistic and unnecessary. I was glad to say that aspect was much less in this book. The book follows a young female historian who wants to start a new life by helping to restore an old supposedly haunted house in Hope Harbor and turn it into an events center. The male counterpart is an owner of a landscaping business who is very scarred (both physically and emotionally) due to war injuries and the aftermath of that. It was a fun story with an expected outcome but still pleasant to follow. No sex or profanity.

This book was very, very chaste… not my thing. But I’ll describe it anyway.

Overall, it’s a sweet story that moves very slowly. I appreciated several mini-mysteries and side characters who livened up the setting. I also appreciated that the Christian content, while present, didn’t overpower the story or the rest of the emotions the characters faced.

I have read this series and really enjoyed it until I got to this book. I read to page 30 and thru it down. When I saw a character said she had a son with down Syndrome, and he was an embarrassment to her husband. I was done with the book; I am very disappointed and did not finish the book. That did not need to be a part of the story.

Windswept Way was such a beautiful story! I have only read the first three novels in the Hope Harbor series years ago and then jumped to this one, which is book nine. I had no trouble at all picking this novel up and enjoying it on its own merit. Of course, I know that there are people and events that I have missed in the overall series, yet that did not impact my enjoyment of this book. In fact, I think I will go back and start at the beginning again at some point and hopefully listen my way through the entire series.

The hero in this novel, Jon, is definitely wounded. His war wounds have left very serious scarring. He covers them as best he can and has isolated himself away from most people. But as bad as his outside scarring is, it is the scarring that is emotional and tied to his injuries that have really kept him from living life in the fullest. Ashley has pain that she is carrying around when she arrives in Hope Harbor, too.

I loved the way the connection between Ashley and Jon developed. It was very natural and the fears and uncertainties that they both carried impacted the way things progressed. Kind of a one step forward and two steps back type of situation. There was a lot of emotional healing that needed to occur before Jon felt that he could trust his heart to Ashley. And he struggled with whether a relationship with him was something that would even be a wise decision for her to pursue. I thought the author did a great job of showing the uncertainties that both of these characters struggled with. I loved this story from start to finish!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Windswept Way is the ninth novel in Irene Hannon's contemporary Hope Harbor series. Unfortunately for me, this was the first title I'd had the chance to try, and I was a little worried that I was going to end up not being able to keep up with the story. Thankfully, this one reads wonderfully as a stand alone, but I enjoyed it so much I think I will definitely have to go back and read some of the previous titles in the very near future.

Hope Harbor is a charming and idyllic town on the Oregon coast, and it's habited by a wonderful group of people who seem to be able to make any stranger feel welcome no matter what they're going through. Ashley Scott makes her way to the small town when the opportunity for a new business venture is way too amazing to pass up. As someone who loves history, she's intrigued at the opportunity to become part owner of a dazzling historic estate that her and the estate's original owner decide to try and turn into a wedding and special event venue. Ashley's healing from past hurts, and so is the wonderful but reclusive estate owner Rose. When the two ladies hire Jonathan Gray's landscaping business to revamp the grounds before the venue's open house, sparks soon start flying between Ashley and Jonathan. However, Jonathan has deep scars, both literally and figuratively, and both him and Ashley are hesitant to see what that could mean for a future relationship.

From start to finish, Windswept Way is a beautiful and charming contemporary romance that will make you do some deep thinking about just how much emphasis our world puts on outward appearance versus inward beauty. The story is wonderfully plotted, the characters knew just how to pull at my heartstrings, and I absolutely loved the idyllic setting of the beautiful historic estate set against the backdrop of the coast's dangerous cliffs.

I also loved the many townspeople who come to encourage Ashley, Rose, and Jonathan in their individual faith journey's, and in particular Charley, Reverend Baker and Father Murphy were all a hoot, and I couldn't have enjoyed them more.

This was a beautiful romance, and I'm only sorry it's taken me until the ninth title in the series to finally give Hope Harbor a chance.

Final Rating: 4/5.

I'd highly recommend this one to anyone who loves Christian contemporary romances, and/or romances that are thought provoking while still being clean and swoon worthy at the same time.

Thanks so much to Revell for allowing me to advance read and review this one!

While this was my first foray into Hope Harbor, I can understand why so many are drawn to this fictional community. The setting is naturally a draw as the Oregon coast is one of my favorite places and I enjoyed the descriptions of local areas and weather. It was so nice to read about people coming together to renovate a historical estate. The characters were the best aspect of the book by far, from Ashley who puts her energy toward improvement and productivity to wounded veteran, Jonathan, who runs a landscaping business and hires ex-cons to provide them with a new opportunity, to the reclusive owner and Ashley’s business partner, an encouraging foreman, a fish taco vendor—all added something to this story. The found family aspect is heart-warming. As a contemporary Christian fiction novel, this had a thoughtful thread of faith and prayer throughout the book and helped illustrate a strong moral code found in many of the characters. While the romance is the main plot line, the other stories contributed to the strength of the book. I have not read any of the other Hope Harbor novels, but now want to. This wonderful story left me sighing happily and feeling encouraged—a definite need in the book world. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Windswept Way takes us back to Hope Harbor, Oregon, for another visit with the likable residents of this lovely seacoast village. We're introduced to Rose, Ashley, and Jonathan as they join forces to restore a beloved historical residence but the ultimate restoration project may actually take place in their own lives. Author Irene Hannon shares a touching story of finding one's purpose, learning to trust, and seeing beyond outward appearances, and she also gives readers a reunion with Charlie, Father Murphy, and Reverend Baker. I loved Rose's efforts to unite Ashley and Jonathan and I was moved by the special friendship that she finds with Charlie. How could this happen to a person who purposely avoided people?!?!

Windswept Way is awesome contemporary fiction and I'm so glad that there are more books planned for this Hope Harbor series. Hannon excels in writing realistic stories that tug at your heartstrings and inspire you to search your soul, and I was truly 'swept away' while reading this story!

Ashley Scott’s dream job in Tennessee goes up in smoke and the boyfriend she thought would propose dumps her. Despite the misgivings of her overbearing mother, Ashley decides to embark on an adventure.

Using money her beloved father left her, Ashley travels to the seaside town of Hope Harbor in Oregon and accepts a business proposal she can’t turn down. She and her new partner, the reclusive heir to a lumber baron’s fortune, will restore Edgecliff. Ashley’s partner wants to restore laughter to the gorgeous brick mansion built in the Queen Anne Victorian style over a century ago.

Together, they want to create a venue for celebrations and joy. Ashley’s mother worries about Ashely’s ability to run a business. But the town of Hope Harbor seems filled with a supportive community ready to embrace a new entrepreneur. And although Ashley has no intention starting another relationship, her budding friendship with the mysterious landscaper adds an element of comfort to her new life.

Jonathan Gray has no intention of making himself vulnerable to other people. Even employees he’s worked with for years. From the moment his now ex-fiancée first saw his face, Jon has known his altered appearance will only bring others pain.

Exploding shells will do that to a man. Although he’s healed physically, he hasn’t healed emotionally. Moving far from home to the welcoming community of Hope Harbor has helped, but Jon still feels distant from God.

When he takes on a new project at Edgecliff, Jon has no idea how the people he meets will stretch him and push him to live life fully once again.

What I Loved About This Book

Hannon has a knack for creating intriguing characters in need of healing and placing them in the fictional town of Hope Harbor. The ninth book in the Hope Harbor collection, Windswept Way continues the theme of second chances and overcoming heartache.

Readers will relate to Jonathan and his desire to hide his scars (both external and internal), as well as Ashley’s desire to follow her dreams despite her mother’s naysaying. If you’re looking for a feel-good sweet romance, you’ll love Windswept Way.

This is the ninth book in this series. I haven’t had a chance to read all the books in this series (only some) but you don’t have to read all of them in order to love this story. The ones I have read make me feel as though I’m part of the community. This story has such a wonderful cast of characters. They kept me turning the pages and wanting to keep reading. The sub storylines were just as entertaining as the main storyline. This is a book that I know will bless many as well as entertain them.

I was given this book as a complimentary copy but was not required to write a review.

Zalige feelgood, daar staat dezereeks garant voor. Altijd fijn om in hope harbor te zijn met zijn diversiteit aan personages. Leuke verhaallijn en een happy end, meer moet dat in een vakantie niet zijn.

This cover and title are so beautiful I almost bought it on the spot at Barnes & Noble, though fortunately I came to my senses and checked it out of the library instead, since I've never read Irene Hannon before. Though it's ninth in a series, the main character is also new to the town, so I was able to meet everyone alongside her without getting too lost.

The setting here is everything. The house, the outbuildings, the grounds, the ocean views...!! And that's just the estate -- the whole town is full of charming little spots too, and there's even a map at the beginning illustrating them.

There's not as much time spent on the actual house as I thought, but I enjoyed the details of the landscaping projects much more than I thought I would. I was a little bummed when we found out Ashley was there to turn the house into a wedding and event venue, rather than to restore and live in it, but the inspiration behind the project was still (almost as) cool.

Speaking of that inspiration...Rose! Coolest 80-year-old around; she gets a spot on the Favorite Book Characters of The Year list immediately. Among other things, partly for being a , and partly because she likes to dress up in the antique gowns in her attic, which on at least one occasion she has used to personally start rumors of the house being haunted.

I also loved her budding friendship/partnership with Ashley. In the absence of any children or other relatives to pass her beloved family home down to, Rose has decided to move into a small cottage on the property and partner with the young woman's vision for how to retain the house's character, breathing new life into it and securing its future for hopefully decades to come, while she's still alive and able to provide some input and control on its new purpose. This is a truly incredible way to direct one's legacy and something even I, lover of non-change, would choose to do. Note: upholding the glory and beauty of historic houses is Ashley's passion in life. She WILL treat it right.

That said, this was more of an average read for me because I never felt any chemistry between Ashley and Jon, and I maintain they would have been great friends. Definitely tired of the endless repetitions of how they're both having feelings, maybe, but no, that can't be because they've sworn off love forever and will simply never trust again. It was also so weird to me how obsessed everyone was with pushing them together when she literally only moved here (from the other side of the country!) a few weeks ago, and is trying to launch a business and manage contractors at the same time.

Also, the random pair of seagulls that kept showing up was weird (apparently this is a defining feature of the series), but not as weird as Charley Lopez popping up everywhere to speak in allegory and dispense wisdom (and tacos) like some sort of mystical Mexican sage.

So, I don't know if I'll read any others in this series, despite several equally alluring cover + title combos (Blackberry Beach and Seaglass Cottage are currently calling the loudest). At the very least, though, despite giving strong Grandma Book energy, I can see why people enjoy this series. If you want easy, comforting, heavy-on-the-faith books with small-town charm, this is a nice, deep well to draw from.

If you’re looking for a sweet romance in a charming beach community, then this is the right novel for you! Irene Hannon always does a fantastic job with her romances and this one is no exception. Ashley Scott has a business opportunity that drops into her lap which is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. Wounded warrior Jon Gray is the local landscaper that’s always under cover both literally and figuratively. I loved the beautiful old Edgecliff Mansion in Hope Harbor on the Oregon Coast and the reclusive owner, Rose Fitzgerald who also has a few little hidden secrets of her own. One of the authors reasons for writing is “the power of love to transform lives.” I think she does that beautifully!
I’ve read several of Irene Hannon’s novels and thoroughly enjoyed them. This novel is part of a series but can definitely stand alone. You may recognize a few characters from some of the others in the series which really does add to the charm. She has an extensive backlist and although I have not read them all, I would definitely recommend any of them. She’s an amazing author!
I borrowed a copy of this book from my local public library and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
