The Forever Contract

Rate this book
Accommodating, Inc. is back in business. The bride business.

A virgin escort. A reclusive billionaire. A fake marriage. What could possibly go wrong?

It wasn’t how I’d pictured my wedding sold to a stranger, a cold billionaire almost twice my age. Bryce Windsor barely looked at me when we recited our vows. I married him to save my brother from the foster-care system. I can’t ever break the contract, or we’ll lose everything…

All Bryce cares about is that I’m a virgin, that I’m his, and that I can’t leave him—no matter what.

Still, someone’s coming to my bedroom at night—watching me.
Does that mean that, despite what he says, what my new husband wants is…me?

Okay, what are y’all seeing that I’m not? I’ll admit it- the first third or so of this book has a great flow but there’s definitely some plot points I would change. Aging Chloe up would be a start- maybe getting kicked out of university housing because her brother is secretly living there? The fact that she’s 19 felt overall predatory, and one of the things that I admired about Bryce was his initial aversion to her based on that. Which just made me dislike him more when he immediately gets over that sentiment 48 hours after meeting her. Four days after meeting, the charming Bryce is screaming at Chloe and firing one of the only friends she had made so far for daring to speak to each other in an area not visible to him. And this is supposed to be romance? I’m supposed to root for a relationship between a teenager and a grown-ass man who literally watches her sleep? 0/10. Side note: why do authors keep normalizing this kind of behavior? It has real world, dangerous consequences.

Ok Leigh James I see you!

The Forever Contract follows Chloe and the contract that forever changed her life. Chloe is in a less than ideal life situation and she is desperate to help her and her 11 year old brother. At this point she decides to create a profile looking for a sugar daddy. What happens when a billionaire seeks her out and one of the main requirements is her v-card?

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters, the plot, the smut. I finished it in less than 12 hours so I was definitely engaged.

Rating: 4/5
Spice: 2/5
Trope: angst, billionaire, fake marriage, age gap

This book is ludicrous. 😂 The characters are ludicrous. The premise is ludicrous. The “progression of the relationship” is ludicrous. And as bat-shit crazy as the hero and his family are, I actually found the heroine to be the stupidest character of all. What. An. Idiot!!! There is nothing likeable about her…does she even have a personality besides being so insecure and stupid she can’t function like a normal human being? She’s also a super shitty sister to Noah for someone who prostitutes herself to save him from foster care. He’s just in rich, fancy foster care at her private island. (Btw, why is no one mentioning what a brat the brother is?) Chloe has known Bryce for less than 2 weeks, 85% of that time he’s acted like a complete sociopath but she is IN LOVE and is so upset when she thinks he doesn’t love her. Bitch, he BOUGHT you to be his fake bride and talks to you like you’re a dog and you’re devastated he didn’t marry you for love?? 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Like what did she think was happening?! I can’t. Anyway, after LOTS of sex on a 2 day honeymoon they’re both “in love” even tho they know NOTHING about each other. Bryce fires anyone who speaks to Chloe and she snoops through his phone and loses her shit that his former fiancé texts him even tho he doesn’t respond to her. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Girl, he’s known you for like 9 days and was with that woman for years and was nearly married to her when they broke up. Again, he BOUGHT you and keeps you locked in a room for speaking to a waiter. 😂😳 She definitely acts like a stupid teenager so at least she’s consistent in her whiplash giving mood swings and over dramatizing every single thing. At the end Bryce also acts like a melodramatic teen and says he can’t be with someone who doesn’t trust him - THIS IS THE SAME MAN WHO LOCKED HER IN HIS ROOM FOR SPEAKING TO A WAITER AND FIRED HIS BOAT CAPTAIN FOR BEING ALONE WITH HER. But HE cannot be with someone who doesn’t trust him. 😂😂😂 Anyway, I could go on about how stupid all of this is but hopefully you’re getting it and won’t waste your time as I have. I definitely will NOT be continuing this series and I’m honestly shocked I finished this at all. Thankfully I did get it for free during the Stuff your Kindle event.

The Forever Contract by Leigh James is the First book in The Forever Series. This starts the story of Bryce and Chloe and will end with a cliffhanger. Chloe is trying to raise her 11 year old brother and money is tight. So she thinks to do a Sugar Daddy type contract which leads her to Bryce. I can't wait for the next books in this series.

I swear, every time I download a romance from the free Amazon day, it ends up being book 1 of some odd number and there's always an awful cliffhanger and then you have to buy the rest of the series. Somehow I forgot that was true until after I read the whole book 🫠

This was actually a terrible plot and I only read it because I wanted some mindless romance after two heavier books earlier on my vacation. A 19 year old girl enters into an arranged marriage with a Billionaire because she needs to take care of her brother. They eventually start a romantic relationship and then he becomes super controlling. I didn't like the plot that much but also couldn't put it down? It's unrealistic for the main character to fall in love as fast as she did and also unrealistic for her to tolerate such poor treatment (although I guess she needed rhe money and didnt have anything to compare it to) and I didn't necessarily understand the dynamic between the two main characters for a good chunk of the book. I really liked the side characters, though. They added a lot to the story.

I really enjoyed this romance. I really felt for Chloe as I thought she was such a sweetheart as she obviously cares for and loves her little brother - enough to do what she needed to ensure that he was looked after. I wasn't sold on Bryce in the beginning but he let us in little by little and he actually is quite the sweetheart though perhaps a little emotionally distant. The chemistry between Chloe and Bryce was sizzling hot and when things were good, they were quite sweet together. Add in a crazy family, and an aggressive ex, this leads into a cliffhanger into the next book.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest review.

Cliff hanger

I was enjoying the book. Kept reading without sleep or meals and it ends with a cliffhanger? The book was well written. Just a few misspelled words. Then the ending. Do I recommend? Yes.

Bryce read like cardboard, and Chloe was just so damn young. Everything she did felt immature and shallow. Completely removing her backbone and having her never stand up to Bryce really just ruined what little there was to enjoy in this book.

Please Note:
The themes and scenes in this book is not to be idoloized in real life. I understand this is a work of fiction and would hope everyone going into this book understands this as well. This is not what real love looks like nor is this how a loving partner should treat their significant other. IT IS ABUSE!!!
I suggest if you are confused and see yourself romanticizing these themes, to see professional counsel (i.e. therapist, priest, etc.)

I only finished this quickly because it was an easy read and I had text to speech and an entire day of chores.

I did NOT expect it to go this way...I most definitely did not expect almost 20% - 30% of the book to just be those types of scenes. Almost no growth was accomplished whatsoever. This book could have easily been 100-150 pages shorter and two more books were unnecessary.

The main characters have almost no personality apart from their unfortunate circumstances and backgrounds. Like...what's your favourite colour? Let's start there. Why not go on a picnic or watch a movie on the couch at home?
Piggybacking off the above point- why couldn't any scenes remain sweet and tender? Two people can definitely have feelings for each other and just enjoy each other's company without it turning into something more.

It's also frustrating that at BEST she has 2 or 3 good days and then something happens (really the same thing repeats itself- her insecurity just showing differently).

🤥 Didn't Elena notice that Chloe lied about her family history with drinking?
(Reference: Page 26)

👩 Akira and Midge were definitely my favourite characters!

💍 How did he know her ring size for the wedding ring? Most women don't even know their own; it's not something you can easily guess.

The age gap bothered me. Not so much the amount of years but the difference in life stages they are at. (For example, 40 and 50 is a significantly better pairing than 19 and 30).
I suggest, make it so that she was older and her life turned upside down after some major event so as to still keep the drama but to make her a more comfortable age.

Also, Bryce got over that age gap too quickly for my liking...(not that he should ever really get over it).

I liked the initial fast-pacing of the book. However, coming to the end, it felt very repetitive and I would have liked if Bryce was hot and cold in his treatment of her for a little while longer. To really lower her expectations.

MY COUNTRY WAS MENTIONED!!!

Noah is lowkey so disrespectful. HOWEVER, he once said "Nah. If he wanted to talk to us, he coulda called," and he is so right! (Referring to their dad reaching out to them.) (Reference: page 225)

On the same page, Chloe was made out to be this "wonderful sister" but as soon as she started developing feeling for a man, she is nowhere to be seen. How come? Why is Dale taking better care of HER brother? She literally went DAYS without talking to him. Even when she was locked in her room, she didn't attempt to reach out to him. But, do you know who she argued with the guards over? DAPHNE! WHAT!?

""Yes. It is." But he wasn't looking anywhere but at me." Such an iconic scene!

At no point did this book mention protection. How in the world is she not pregnant???
My theory is that he sneaks the pill into her food.

A lot of repetitive statements (i.e. pure female satisfaction, he was [jealous, etc.] for me)

Bryce expecting maturity and loyalty from a 19 year old is ridiculous.

I was hoping for a character with a bit more backbone. However, I do understand she is still a teenager.

Really Minor Things:
On page 208, she said she hung the dress up in the wardrobe...isn't it dirty? Why not put it in the dirty laundry?

About 2 or 3 grammatical errors.

Red Flags:
🚩 Extract: "He's been through a lot." He cocked his head. "Haven't we all?"
TO A CHILD!?
🚩 "My virgin" makes me so uncomfortable.
🚩 Page 374. I refuse to type his reaction to seeing her so vulnerable and helpless.
🚩 Having her "checked" multiple times (I believe twice).

I like these kinds of books, usually. The rich characters need a spouse to get their inheritance, claim their seat at the table of an organization, fulfill their duties to the family, etc. The characters down on their luck agree to such an arrangement. This book has the MMC needing a spouse to claim his seat at the table of his family's company. The FMC is someone down on her luck needing to find a way to take care of herself and her brother that pays more than working at Dunkin Donuts. Lucky her, she finds a job that would do just what she needs to do for herself and her brother.

Remember, I usually like these kinds of books. However, this one had me a little irritated at times. The FMC is a teenager that lets her hormones get away from her. She caves every time she's around the MMC. EVEN when he is being a total jerk to her one minute and a horn dog the next. They both have some insecurity issues along with trust issues. Neither one of them know how to communicate. She has no voice. No backbone. No fire to defend herself from the people that dump on her. And yet she is constantly telling herself she's doing this for her brother, who she barely interacts with. When she does interact with him. He is living his best life while she is feeling sorry for herself. Ugh.

I finished the book hoping to find something to like about the FMC but came up short. The MMC to me is to be expected. He is into her but keeps her at arm's length for reasons only known to him because we don't get his perspective in any of the story.

I have seen people hate on her brother, saying he is a spoiled brat and disrespectful. I don't see that at all. I read him as a normal 11-year-old that was living a horrible existence with his sister at his dad's and stepmother's house. He gets thrown into this drastically different home and has access to things he never imagined. He has no clue what the heck is happening because his sister won't tell him anything but white lies. He responds to her the same way any 11-year-old boy would respond to his sister. And him being a kid, he acts like a kid. We don't know how he was treated by his mom before she died or the type of relationship he had with his sister before this arranged marriage. So, I have no ill feelings about the boy.

To me there are more crappy characters than good characters in this book. I will read the next one in hopes that someone will redeem themselves worthy of reading.

I gave it a 3 star because it was well written and the way the arrange marriage came about was interesting.

Me ha gustado mucho! ☺️

I started the book believing that I wasn't going to like it, I didn't have high expectations but as the story progressed I was totally hooked.
Chloe's character develops throughout the book, from the beginning she shows courage and bravery by wanting to give her little brother a better life and crossing paths with Bryce was her answer to all her questions. They didn't expect to develop feelings for each other but they did.
They both have a painful past, they have been hurt, and they want to protect their feelings from another disappointment.
The decisions that the characters made at the end of the book were not entirely to my liking but I want to know what happens with their story and I can't wait to read the next one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, I found this book to be quite disappointing. I had high hopes for it, but it seemed to lack sufficient character development. Chloe, a 19-year-old high school graduate, was left to care for her 11-year-old brother after the sudden death of their mother and being kicked out by their father and stepmother. They were staying in a hotel, running low on money, and struggling to make ends meet. In a desperate move, she posted an ad on a sugar-baby website, received a response, and met the individual who reached out to her. The woman presented her with an opportunity to connect with a millionaire named Bryce, on the condition that she was a virgin. In exchange, he would grant her $1 million after a year of marriage, which would enable her to support her brother. She successfully negotiated her brother's custody into the agreement and was married just two hours later. The plot follows their journey during the initial months of their marriage and the development of their mutual attraction. I found it challenging to relate to Chloe's immaturity and to comprehend what a 19-year-old could possibly share with a 31-year-old that would lead to a relationship beyond physical intimacy. A deeper exploration of both Chloe's and Bryce's backgrounds might have created the much-needed common ground. Additionally, I noticed several grammatical and editing errors that detracted from the narrative. In several instances, character names were confused; for example, Kelly was referred to as Ginny, and Bryce was mistakenly called Bruce, among others...

3.5 stars. Chloe is between a rock and a hard place. After being kicked out of her home, she needs to make sure her younger brother Noah is cared for and seeks alternative means besides her minimum wage job. By posting her availability online for a sugar daddy and then through a series of negotiations, she winds up being offered a contract to marry billionaire Bryce. While he seems initially unimpressed by her, they get married anyway. While Chloe is relieved to being able to provide for Noah without losing him to someone else, she is perplexed by her husband. His world is completely different from what she is used to growing up and the differences between them are stark. While she's not deluding herself, she would like to build a relationship with Bryce.

I really liked Chloe, she was down to earth and gracious. She didn't let Bryce's wealth change her and she wanted to make the best of the situation. Bryce ran hot and cold, where he was difficult to read and gave mixed signals. He was also very controlling and overbearing, but at times he was actually very kind and considerate. The jury is still out on if I like him or not, but Chloe most certainly does. The added drama of Bryce's past definitely pushes the story along, including the other family drama thrown into the mix. I was not expecting that ending and will be interested to see where this story leads to next.

The Forever Contract is about the lengths people will go to. A teenage girl to protect her younger brother and give him a better life and a business man who would marry a stranger to gain control of his father’s company. When Chloe decides to sell the only thing of any value she has - her virginity - she attracts the attention of Bryce who, for reasons of his own, is looking for a wife. Before she’s had time to think they’re married and she’s installed at his remote estate wondering what she’s got herself into. Would I do what Chloe does? Probably not, I don’t like any of my brothers that much and besides, with my luck I wouldn’t end up with a billionaire proposing marriage!!!

This is a contemporary romance covering several tropes including arranged marriage, age gap, opposites attracting, not to mention a crazy ex-girlfriend. There is a lot going on in this book with lots of twists and turns but despite this it’s easy to follow each thread. I would’ve preferred Chloe to have been at least a couple of years older, there’s just something a bit cringy for me if the hero is old enough to be the heroine’s father but she has had to grow up quickly. I was slightly surprised this book ends on a cliffhanger. Given the page length of it I would’ve expected it to be concluded. If the second book is going to be as long it’s going to be quite the saga.

The Forever Contract :a Billionaire Romance (The Forever Series Book 1)

Chloe and Noah were on their own. Father that didn't even want them, didn't even want them living with him and his wife. Shame on them! Chloe was in need, no money. She answered ad with a women who was a match maker. She met by a man who wanted a wife because he wanted his trust fund money. So Bryce married her the same day that he bought her. Her brother and her were shipped off to Maine. Chloe had to pretend that she was in love with Bryce to be paraded around showing everyone that the were together. But, he wouldn't take her, she was a Virgin. The marriage would be forever. Things started to happen after they arrived in Maine. Her father in law was a mean snob along with his young rich wife. His Ex Relies showed up trying to get him back! The storyline went around and around, funny at times. Chloe didn't even know what or how to believe what was happening with her marriage. One moment they are happy and in love the next Bryce is leaving her. Have to remember she is just a young woman of 19! Doesn't know much about life. At the end everything is there hanging.... Whatever happens next....who knows! The chemistry between these people are unbelievable! This author has out done herself with another amazing story. Can't wait to read more of this series 😀 Enjoy!!!!

This book is my first ever book by Leigh James and am not disappointed, I admit I thought it was going to be less in spice section but oh Lord she shocked me in a good way.

About book: Chloe is 19 year old who is looking for funds to help herself and her lil brother, she goes on this sugar finder website to find daddy but she meets Elena who arranges marriages for billionaires. Bryce is 30 and is looking for a bride fast as possible. Chloe is one of the candidate to be his bride and but Bryce is not happy with their age gap but due to his making other candidates leave or cry, his only option is chloe. There is some ex GF drama (don't worry it's not intimate type, it's actually funny) paparazzi life and family drama. Will Chloe a 19 year old will be able to survive in a different lifestyle?
One thing I absolutely love that her character remains decent after the her being rich. She's young and she behaves like one but it's not creepy or spoiled. It is just real and good. It's a trilogy thus books ends on a cliffhanger and the last book will come out in October.

P. S Mind you but Bryce is one of a hot as hell man and such possessive that's it makes me drool lol

Yikes. This is absolutely unhinged, but I finished it so that's something. Chloe being 19 is a bit much, and she's not a mature 19 year old. She's SO dumb, insecure, and at one point says her favorite book is Twilight. Honestly, it's pretty terrible.

This is an endless mess of miscommunication - actually no, just 0 communication - because Chloe and Bryce have exactly 0 normal conversations. Bryce has no personality outside of being an actual freak. He's kind of scary. Chloe is too dumb for her own good, and I get it that's the entire set up for this book, but it's disturbing. I think I went into this hoping for something not quite this trashy and toxic.

Another thing - apparently Felicia is this terrible, evil ex but I'm not seeing that... She just exists and Chloe starts panicking. I guess Felicia is being annoying by texting Bryce, but she's not outwardly doing things that are super evil. Chloe just keeps escalating things with Felicia because she's so tragically insecure. I have second hand embarrassment.

Also, the dialogue in this is TERRIBLE. Every single character has the same voice/tone (aka EVERYONE sounds like an uneducated 15 year old). Bryce, the 11 year old little brother, Chloe, Bryce's dad... It's strange.

BUT this was chaotic enough to be somewhat entertaining. I'll read the next!

I really, really wanted to love this book. I mean, a billionaire hero, an arranged marriage, and a virgin heroine? I love all three of the those tropes so much. But something about this book just didn’t connect with me.

I think it’s because I didn’t feel like there was any kind of connection between Bryce and Chloe. Sure, they were physically attracted to each other, but there wasn’t really a lot of emotional connection - in my opinion. Bryce was hot and cold, and I didn’t feel like it was warranted most of the time. Chloe was incredibly naive and had no backbone. For me, it got kind of frustrating to only be getting her perspective on things. I feel like I would’ve connected with the story more if maybe we’d also gotten Bryce’s perspective? I don’t know - the story wasn’t bad, I just didn’t connect with it. That being said, I’ll still be reading book 2 because I’m curious what’ll happen.

Overall I would give this book four stars. I really enjoyed the plotline and felt like the characters in the story really had chemistry. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ The drama in this book was very captivating and had me devouring the book in a day. I’m looking forward to book 2. If your looking for a palette cleaners series after a heavy world building series, this is just what the doctor ordered! It’s a very easy read and lots of drama to captivate.

Spoiler alert part of the review! 🚨

I would’ve liked to see more of Chloe’s character development in the beginning of the story. I liked that the book just dove right into the drama, but I feel like it would’ve helped us understand Chloe better if we would’ve gotten a little taste of what her life was like before she got kicked out of the house. Maybe a flashback to the night her mom died or a flashback to when she first moved in with her dad and the step monster.

Wow this really didn’t go the way I expected it to. At the start I kind of adored Chloe and how all she wanted to do was protect her brother Noah, and felt very deeply about what she and Noah had been through and were still going through. Bryce on the other hand was a love to hate type character and I really really didn’t expect to change my mind about him, but right now I feel very sorry for him. The journey that is Chloe and Bryce’s is far from smooth, especially for Chloe. Even a rollercoaster sounds rather tame by comparison. There is a wonderfully diverse set of supporting characters who all play an integral role within the book and provided a lot of extra depth to the whole story. I can’t wait to read the next book I very much feel like I’ve been left out to dry at the moment with a huge carrot dangling over my head.

Maybe a 3.25. I don't know. It just seemed rather juvenile. You knew all along how much the H loved the h so the angst fell flat. And the heroine? Yes, she was 19 and so jealous that it ruined any semblance of character that the author attempted to squeeze out of her. The ex didn't even do anything to warrant such jealousy because you knew it was only to goad the heroine. So to act like the youth that she was took the emotional angst way down. You just wanted to scream and say grow up and stand for something more worthy. Her brother was her worthy cause yet she did shit that didn't have him in mind so her character fell flat. So it didn't have the depth I needed to really enjoy it. Maybe more was revealed in the last book but by then I just breezed through it and enjoyed the ending. Yes, I read the ending that pretty much gave the whole synopsis so I didn't even need to read it.

3.5 ⭐️

This was an enjoyable read, with some interesting characters and an engaging storyline. Bryce and Chloe enter into a marriage of convenience in order for him to vest in his family’s company. Desperate to escape her home life and protect her younger brother, she finds herself in a bit of a situation where she’s signed up to be some eccentric billionaires wife, as you do.
Even though I enjoyed this book, I did feel that Chloe showed her immaturity at times with how she reacted to certain situations. And Bryce’s way of keeping Chloe in line were a tad… extreme. This is the first book in a series and I’ll definitely be reading the next one as I do need to know what happens next with these characters.

This is the first book in the Forever Series and it starts the series off with a bang. Since it's the first book we are left with a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the Forever Promise. It won't take you long to fall in love with Chloe and Bryce. It won't take you long to get emotionally involved with Chloe who goes to great lengths to protect her younger brother. Offering the only thing she has to an older man Bryce, she sells her V Card. Their arranged marriage begins and so does the roller coaster. Overflowing with drama and more drama. Lots of angst from others but this is a book that won't take you long to get hooked. I read an arc via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Bryce and Chloe’s journey. Bryce is a cold, grumpy, controlling, possessive, and a recluse billionaire, while Chloe is courageous and brave. Chloe is hired to marry Bryce for mutually beneficial reasons, as she will do whatever she must to keep her brother out of the foster care system. Bryce and Chloe have both had tough pasts, and do not expect to develop any feeling for each other. This story ends in a cliffhanger, and I look forward to second part. This is a good story which has drama, emotions, family, twists, supporting characters, a crazy ex-girlfriend, and is an intriguing page turner.
I received a free copy of this book via Greys Promotions and am voluntarily leaving a review.
