A Cute and Light Cat-Themed Guide I recently read Pusheen the Cat's Guide to Everything by Claire Belton, wondering if it could deliver cat-inspired life advice. As a cat mom, I was eager to see if this book would be a hit or miss.
The Good Stuff The artwork is adorable. Pusheen and friends are drawn in a simple yet expressive style that made me smile. Covering topics from cat vampires to laziness guides, the book shows Belton knows her audience well. The humor is gentle and relatable, especially for cat lovers or anyone who enjoys naps and snacks.
Where It Falls Short While cute, the book lacks depth. It's more of a collection of comics and light observations. I felt it could have explored topics more deeply.
The Verdict This book is a quick read for Pusheen fans and cat lovers. It's good as a gift or coffee table book, but don't expect profound guidance.
There isn't much to say about this: it was a cute little smattering of illustrations depicting Pusheen and her family in their everyday lives, spending time together, making sweet treats, enjoying their hobbies, and going on imaginary adventures. I can't see myself buying a finished copy for myself, but I think it would be a good gift for someone who really loves Pusheen a lot.
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy! All thoughts are honest and my own.
Pusheen the Cat's Guide to Everything was another delightful collection of Pusheen comics with life advice from an adorable cat and her friends.
The illustrations in Pusheen the Cat's Guide to Everything are fantastic and follow the traditional Pusheen style of bright colors and adorable animals. The collection includes previously released comics as well as new ones first published in this book. Topics range from how to spend the holidays to good places to hide to working from home. There's something for everyone in this one and readers are likely to appreciate the variety of topics covered.
In addition to advice from Pusheen, we also receive advice from her siblings Stormy and Pip as well as some of her friends Cheek, Bo, and Sloth. I enjoyed the addition of the other characters as they're all adorable and unique from Pusheen in their own ways. I particularly liked the adventure of Pip and Cheek. We also get to see some of the various Pusheen variations such as Mermaid Pusheen, Pusheenicorn, Boosheen the Ghost, Dragonsheen, and Dinosheen. All the various iterations of Pusheen are adorable but I have to say I think Boosheen may be my favorite of the bunch.
Overall Pusheen the Cat's Guide to Everything was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it for the cat lover in your life.
(Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARC for review through Netgalley.)
Everyone's favorite animated chubby tabby cat is back! Along with her feline family (siblings Stormy and Pip and parents Sunflower and Biscuit) and furry friends (Cheek the hamster, Bo the parakeet, and Sloth the, ahem, sloth), Pusheen is here to guide you through the ins and outs of, well, everything. From the inevitable collision of expectation and reality, to celebrating the holidays and awkwardly pursuing a crush, no subject is too adorable for PUSHEEN THE CAT'S GUIDE TO EVERYTHING.
I consider myself a Pusheen fan, and PUSHEEN THE CAT'S GUIDE TO EVERYTHING brings the cuteness in spades, but it kind of felt like her human was running out of ideas here. Or maybe I'm just in a reading slump? Either way, it was an enjoyable enough read, though I'll probably forget half the strips by tomorrow.
Pusheen is an adorable cartoon kitty who inhabits an oddly satisfying world of clean lines, pastel colors, and symmetrical shapes. This isn't really a comic or story, just a collection of Pusheen and her expanding circle of friends in images that wouldn't look out of place in memes, greeting cards, posters, and so forth. I chuckled a couple of times, but it's more whimsy than humor, and lighter than a spoonful of marshmallow fluff.
If you read a Pusheen book, then you read them all. They’re basic illustrations that you would find in all the Pusheen merchandise. It’s cute, but it’s quite redundant when you read it one page after another. Tt works much better as a daily thing. Overall, I like this but only for pushing enthusiast.
Disclosure: I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Pusheen the Cat’s Guide to Everything is exactly what fans of Pusheen would love. It has the cute characters all throughout the book, is enjoyable for all ages and is just as fun of an adventure as the other Pusheen the Cat books.
I would recommend it to anyone who may be interested!
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
The perfect light, fluffy read to make any day better. Pusheen is as adorable and hilarious as always, and I loved the new characters- especially the hamster and sloth. It's a book that can be enjoyed over and over!
A collection of comics with Pusheen and friends. From helping readers get to know Pusheen, her brother, sister, parents, and friends and each of their interests and attributes, to guides for pet owners, guides to living the best cat life on certain holidays or seasons, and quizzes about things like which dessert you are.
Adorable as always. Each of the comics is a really quick read with minimal text, but super cute illustrations. I like how this one introduces the characters so you learn all their names and how they are related to one another. Pusheen's creators have fun getting you into a a rhythm with the comic and then throwing in a twist to make you smile or laugh. A cute all ages comic, but probably most popular with the middle grade crowd on up.
if you or someone you know is a fan of pusheen or cute comic things in general, then this is an absolutely fantastic addition to the other 2 books released. a collection of comics featuring pusheen and all her friends! I've been a big fan for years since first seeing pusheen on tumblr and I'm amazed at how far Claire Belton's little kitty has come. love this!
I would like to thank edelweiss and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Pusheen has a guide for everything, and she doesn't disappoint. Lots of fun, cute images of everyone's favourite cat.
Cute graphics featuring Pusheen and all her family and friends (something new I learned today, Pusheen has a family). Cute overall, just nothing special. Felt almost weird seeing these in a book as they really are just one page graphics, better suited for the internet. But so cute nonetheless.
