HER FAMILY’S LEGACY WAS FULL OF DEEP SORROW. AND NOW IT LOOKED AS IF HER LIFE WOULD FOLLOW THE SAME PATH. BUT HER GOD WAS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF REDEMPTION.
After a joyful wedding in Kansas, Natalie Camfield Chambers is back in the village of Timoné in South America with her beloved husband, David Chambers. But the adjustments to married life while serving on the mission field in a remote Colombian village along the Rio Guaviare are more than either Natalie or David bargained for. The growing unrest in the country only adds to the challenges they face.
When the village is invaded by guerrilla soldiers and one of their Timoné neighbors, a young mother, goes missing, Natalie and David find themselves caring for her small daughter, even as Natalie has begun to suspect that she is carrying their own child.
When a trip by boat on the Guaviare turns treacherous and ultimately deadly, Natalie and David face the fight of their lives. Their faith—and their love—will be tested in ways they never dreamed, and the decisions they make will echo for generations to come.

I’ve been waiting for this book so I started it as soon as I could get it on Amazon and finished it about 5 hours later. Truly a “didn’t want to put it down” read. Deborah Randy outdid herself with this book!
Deborah Raney has done it again! Breath of Heaven is the exquisite story of Natalie Chambers adjusting to married life in a remote Colombian village where she and her husband, David, serve as missionaries.
A compelling and beautiful story of love and forgiveness! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Natalie returns to a remote Columbian village as a married woman to continue the work her missionary father started. She and her husband, David, face marital issues connected to the living life in the jungle and befriending native people. Natalie longs for a child and David thinks the jungle isn't a good place to raise one. Suddenly they are responsible for Lele, a native girl whose parents are gone. Then Natalie falls pregnant and David tries to come to terms with her pregnancy. As they travel to a safe place for the baby to be born, Natalie is kidnapped and forced to live in dismal circumstances. As their mission board insists they will never pay ransom money, will David find Natalie? How can she have a safe birth in such filthy circumstances with no one to help her?
I really enjoyed this book. It gave a realistic look at this kind of ministry and the deprivations and dangers that come with it. David and Natalie respond with maturity and trust in God, even under the circumstances.
I enjoyed reading this last book to the Camfield family book series. It was good to revisit this family and see the marriage between Natalie and David, the struggles of adapting to each other, as well as the dangers that come with being missionaries. I do think that their disagreement on children is something that should have been discussed before actually getting married but it was interesting to read how they resolved that. There was definitely some action in this book that keeps you reading until the end in order to find out what’s going to happen and even though the ending felt a little rushed I still liked it. I really liked Lele’s character and personality. It was nice to see that little girl be happy despite loosing everyone and I love that she got a happy ending.
Natalie and David are married and living in the Columbian village. Sad to say, Nate is gone. Living as a missionary in a remote village means you do not have the comforts of life that we enjoy in the United States. So regular life for them was interesting to read about. David struggles with the thought of having a child living in these conditions. When they travel to Meg and Hank's so Natalie can have the baby there, tragedy strikes. I was on the edge of my seat reading all the twists and turns of the saga. Once again, many Christian references which helped David and Natalie while they were alone. Good reminder to never lose the faith. Excellent read!
An amazing read! I didn't want to put this book down as I needed to find out the ending. It's a beautiful, intriguing read, and serving as a missionary myself in my younger years, I could definitely feel the stress and fear that passed through Natalie's mind, and also after reading the first books and knowing what happened to her father in the first two books, it was even more mind-blowing.
I have read many of author, Deborah Raney's book and am excited to start another series. I would recommend these delightful books to anyone of any age from teens and upward. All the books are memorable and delightful.
4.5 Stars I really enjoyed the conclusion to this series. This was mainly Nat & David's story. Think it appealed to me as it was set mostly in Cambodia, although contemporary fiction, I felt it more aligned with my preferred genre (historical fiction) as being missionaries there, they haven't got all the mod cons of our time - apart from computers/emails which were needed for their work. I liked the family saga of this whole series, and this 1 was no different. There were some really tense moments in this, that kept me gripped. I read this in a day - which is very unusual for me. I read this via Kindle Unlimited.
Tears laughter thankfulness for God and His gifts!
I have just reread the 3 books in this series and find it hard to express how much it touched me - again. I wept at the loss of their friends, but rejoiced for their salvation. The characters all so real I felt I needed to pray for them. Keep up the good work Deborah. I've now read most of your novels and look forward to the next one. You have enriched the life of this old lady with your efforts. I'm 86.
I just came across this series a few months ago so it was great timing that this book came out as I was finishing up the other two. I loved the characters in all 3 books and how they were each developed through tragedy and faith. I hate to see the end of the series but these will remain in my library for years to come.
Deb Raney is one of my go-to authors. Everything I’ve read by her has been both heartwarming and heartbreaking, and this is no exception. Whether or not you’ve read books 1 and 2 in the series, you’ll love this one. (Although books 1 and 2 are also must-reads!) In fact, I was so wrapped up in one dramatic scene, I found myself praying for the characters!
I enjoyed the plot and catching up with the characters in this series. Some of the dialogue seemed awkward and that was a bit disappointing for me personally. I still became invested in the story quickly, and was eager to find out how it would end. I can't imagine being in the circumstances that Natalie and David faced. Look forward to reading this author again.
Deborah Raney is a master story-teller. Each book brings to life a beautiful story of love, loss & a faith that God is in control. Her well-developed characters are real with human flaws & keep me reading. This Book 3 was suspenseful & at times, heart-pounding!
Make sure you have your tissues handy for this book, as well as plenty of time to read it. You will definitely not be able to put it down part-way through. Once again Raney tackles worst-case scenarios and shows her readers how God is able to bring peace that passes understanding in the midst of the fear, sadness, and uncertainty. This was a beautiful finale to the Camfield Legacy story.
I honestly don’t know what to think of this book. At first, I didn’t really like David. Then, most of the book, he and Natalie are not together. Then the story dragged a bit, even though Natalie showed amazing fortitude. The author wove faith and the plot together in pretty amazing ways. But… the ending seemed rushed and incomplete, considering all that this couple had been through.
This series of the Camfeild legacy are the best books I've read. Stories of Gods faithfulness and love during very trying times and learning to forgive
In this story series, I thought it was well done with a few childbirth errors in research, but they were very minor so I was impressed as that is not usually done. The mission life is not easy and this showed the rawness of it.
Thrilled to have a third installment in this series
Absolutely loved this third book in the series! Devoured it all in one day. A wonderful combination of storytelling, romance and suspense, but most of all, the depth of faith Natalie and David have is uplifting and convicting.
This is a remarkable story filled with love, heartache and faith in a God who can do all things. Natalie and David both had to put their trust in God to a whole new level as they each traveled a dangerous and grievous path.
It has been so long since I read the first two books. I had forgotten some of the details. The book gave enough information that I was able to remember what was most important. This is every bit as good as the first two!
One of the best books I have ever read. There are so made good things one could say about it, but you really have to read it for yourself. I had read the 2 preceding books as well.
I never realized the faith in our Lord Jesus it must take to be a missionary and the dangers, especially kidnapping. This book will have you on the edge of your seat.
That's how good this book was...could not stop reading...I even got my Bible and read Psalm 121.. One of the BEST books I've ever read. Fabulous story, touching, and you feel the presence of the Lord at work in many pages. Fantastic author.
Deborah Raney wrote a beautiful book! David Chambers and Natalie Camfield are getting married and are heading to the Republic of Columbia. Such a fantastic story. Jeanette Stracner
I enjoyed this book focusing on mission life and other cultures. Beautiful characters and suspenseful plot. The ending came a little too abruptly, but other than that, I enjoyed this story of trusting God in the midst of adversity.
This book was very good. It was a very interesting read and held your interest all the way through. It still had the same mystery, romance, laughter, sadness and intrigue to keep you wanting to read more and more. It’s hard to put down.
Series completed and enjoyed the pace as well as the content. Not easy living in remote areas but following what God wants you to do. Sacrifices are made as well as understanding yourself due to circumstances beyond your control. Looking forward to reading other books by Deborah Raney.
I just finished the Camfield Legacy and I’m so sad! Sad because all of the dear people in these books have finished speaking! But the impression their testimony for Christ and His Kingdom will live on!
