A BIOTECH RACE AGAINST TIME TO DEVELOP MILITARY-GRADE DRAGONS. Brilliant genetic engineer Noah Parker is pitted head-to-head against the founder of Build-a-Dragon to design custom dragons for the military.

Genetic engineer Noah Parker has at last landed the job he's long coveted: director of dragon design for the Build-A-Dragon Company. With a combination of genetic engineering and a cryptic device known as the Redwood Codex, he and his team can produce living, breathing dragons made-to-order. But sales of dragons have plummeted, and the Build-A-Dragon Company will have to find new revenue streams if it hopes to stay in business. A contract to develop dragons for the U.S. military promises a much-needed lifeline. Yet the specs are more challenging than anything Noah has ever designed. Worse, he learns that a shadow company headed by former CEO Robert Greaves has stolen the dragon-making technology to make a competing bid. Noah’s dragons will face off against those of his old adversary. It’s a head-to-head design competition, with the ethical future of domesticated dragons hanging in the balance.

I had actually thought the first book in this was a 'one and done' so when I saw this one was out it was a pleasant surprise.
I wanted something light and entertaining to read and this definitely ticked that box. There is a little spike in it here and there but this is mostly a gentle romp, with dragons.
It ends kind of abruptly, which is the classic issue with (what I assume) is a middle book. However, I think that's a minor quibble.
Nice, gentle, brain in neutral entertainment. A recommend.

I read both books in 2 days. Super easy read, very fun and fast paced. I took off one star for one reason - giving dragons diseases. WTF!@!@ I read this book because of unusual title and dragons but as I read, I could not believe that hero wanted to make dragons sick, so my hope was that he would come around, when in second book he doubled down on his experiments I was shocked so I speed read through last few chapters and did not enjoy this book as much. Because of this point I hated main character's brother and I wanted him to die off. Dragons dying in battle is not as cruel as giving them debilitating disease on purpose to study them. I can care less about those humans they have in the plot who would benefit. Connor loves dragons more than main hero but is completely ok with giving them terrible disease and let them die in pain, in 2nd book he actually asks for it..... how stupid is that????? Main hero wants to live in the world with dragons so he can make them sick.... Basically that plot line was moronic in my opinion and without it it would be a great book. So overall a good book but that part made me to donate this book s soon as I read it, it was a huge mistake.

Caution: This book is the sequel to DOMESTICATING DRAGONS and should be read in order as it contains major SPOILERS for the first book. (Feel free to read my review of book 1.)

I loved Domesticating Dragons, so when Deploying Dragons came out I didn’t hesitate a second. It’s just as good as the first book, though Noah’s goals have shifted from helping his brother to keeping Build-A-Dragon in business (and himself creating dragons). Most of the supporting characters are back too for this new dragon building challenge, from his brother to his girlfriend to his boss. And of course the poor guy staffing the customer hotline who I pity so much while chuckling into my book. Charles deserves a raise!
If you liked Domesticating Dragons, chances are you’ll like this book. If you haven’t read the first book, go read it and then come back.
I’m off to order my custom dragon. Purple, with pink dots. Or wait, maybe not.

Dan Koboldt continues his tale of the Build-A-Dragon company and Genetic engineer Noah Parker who has been rehired as Director of Design. Because of the fiasco of the events of the first tale, the company is working on a military contract. They are considering Deploying Dragons (hard from Baen). Unfortunately Build-A-Dragon has a competitor and there is a competition. He also gets to meet Summer’s father. Nothing unusual happens, but it’s a fun readable series.

Noah Parker saved Dogs not that anyone is going to know. NDA's they are the worst nuisance ever. But now he is back at Build-A-Dragon to help it survive after the comeback of Dogs. Now at BADR business is no longer booming. They need to find a product that will help them continue selling Dragons.
They welcome a chance to compete for a Government contract. Provide them with Dragons but the surprise is who the other competitor is. His Ex CEO is back!

Although I still enjoy the premise, I found it harder to suspend my disbelief. Think smaller scale star wars episode vii. I couldn't make myself believe the speed with which the bad recovered. 58/100
