As Sarah returns to campus for her final semester, the pain from the past months seems to fade away in the rearview mirror. With a renewed sense of life on the horizon, she works to adjust to the surrounding world where new romances begin and others end as unknown truths surface. Amidst the wedding bells chiming for one couple, the dreams of a baby flashes before another. With multiple surprises in a world of second chances, which ones will come to fruition when life as she knows it becomes something she never imagined?
Writing stories about the unspoken and sometimes off-putting aspects of dating, romance, and life is my passion. With each book, I envision the stories that feel familiar or connect with the reader on a certain level. By taking on the tough topics, I hope to inspire others to find a life of love and happiness without having to make the same mistakes as the book characters. When I'm not writing, I enjoy competing in triathlons, playing music, and hiking. For more information, be sure to visit www.csmckinney.com.
C.S. McKinney has again taken his readers on a beautiful journey with his newest release A Ring Within a Field. This sequel follows the beloved character, Sarah’s, senior year in college. Her last year at Yemington University proves to be as emotional and trying as those before it. McKinney describes the truth about the hardships of balancing faith with college and relationships. Then, shows how honoring your principles will solidify your character and make you a stronger individual. A definite page-turner that I could not put down. Now, I am again awaiting his sequel so I can learn if Sarah’s most intimate dreams become her reality.
"Life changed too quickly. And at no future point did she want someone who reminded her she may not be good enough." 👏
Sarah returns to campus for her final semester at college. She makes new friends, while keeping the old, and embarks on a journey of healing and self discovery. Some friends are getting married, and Sarah has to make some big choices regarding her own life and relationships.
This is the second book in the series and the growth of the characters was probably my favorite part! I think a lot of young people can relate to Sarah and the decisions she found herself making. It's that awkward age of 21 and 22 where you're about to be let loose in the real world and aren't sure what life will look like post graduation.
I really enjoyed seeing more of the relationship between Sarah and Emily, as well as getting more of Sarah's family in this one! Emily is probably my favorite character - I found myself relating to her a lot. There were a few twists and turns in the story that were totally unexpected, which kept me engaged and had me wanting to keep reading!
As this is a young adult series, it stayed true to being sweet and innocent while addressing a lot of real life choices young adults find themselves making. And taught the important message of always staying true to yourself! ❤️
The ending, although open ended, was perfect for this story, exactly what I had hoped for, and has me looking forward to reading the third book in this series! (Second chance romance anyone?!)
If you enjoy YA themes, like descriptive writing, love a little romance and need some light reading - definitly pick this one up!
Do I Recommend?: Yes!- Especially for young people!
I just finished reading a A Ring Within a Field by C.S.McKinney (forever known to me as Charlie). I taught Charlie when he was in the fifth grade and never realized what a good writer he was until he wrote his first book. His first book was wonderful and the second book was even better. All high school and college girls who are into athletics should read this novel because they will be able to relate to the events in the story. Now I can't wait for the conclusion of Sarah's story so I can find out where life leads her. Thanks Charlie! I couldn't put it down.
