Tonight will be the longest night of Emily’s life. It may also be the last.
Emily is devastated when she receives an anonymous note proving her long-term boyfriend has been cheating on her.
Determined to confront him, she tracks him to a seedy bar far off the highway and they have a massive row. As she storms out the door, she rejects a stranger named Daniel who tries to pick her up.
When she returns to her car, it won’t start. Even worse, her phone has no signal, and no way is she going back into the bar to ask her boyfriend for help.
Emily has no choice but to walk. As she trudges down the desolate highway, Daniel drives by and offers her a ride. She’s scared by his sudden reappearance and refuses him again.
But Daniel won’t take no for an answer. As Emily walks on, he keeps coming back and each time he is more threatening, more menacing. As this terrifying game of cat and mouse steadily escalates, Emily begins to wonder if she’ll ever get off this lonely road alive.
But who is Daniel really? And what does he know about Emily?

What an intense and creepy book this book is. It's a mysterious suspense thriller that held my attention throughout. It's a tense game of cat and mouse. This is a fast paced read that the action takes place over one night. There's twists and turns throughout. The characters were well developed, and I did like Emily, even though she has some issues. This was my first read by the author, but it won't be last.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #InkubatorBooks and the author #ColeBaxter for my ARC of #IWontletYouGo in exchange for an honest review.
What the heck?! I definitely wasn’t expecting this. This poor woman, I was constantly routing for her. I have never wanted to jump into a book as much as I did with this one. I can’t say much more, but you have to read it. This short book definitely packs a punch. It was fantastic, I felt angry, I felt petrified, so many feelings 🤣 It is definitely thrilling, suspenseful and it was so intense. Superb book.
I know that we’re not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but let’s face it most of us do to some extent. Like, I saw this cover and the book title and I thought I had a decent idea of how the plot would go. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The story follows Emily, she’s overworked and lives day by day in her two meaningless jobs. When she finds out her boyfriend is cheating, she tracks his phone and sets off to confront him.
Such a simple yet heart-breaking task. Right?
Wrong, not in Emily’s case. On first appearance Emily is just your average chick, but my god does she have a little bit of feist in her. However, after leaving the bar and her now ex-boyfriend with his new girl that was only the start of Emily’s terrible night.
After refusing a REALLY cheesy pick-up line she finds that her car won’t start and her phone has no service. She decides to take the walk rather than go back into the bar and embarrass herself further – it’s a long walk home but the possibility of a hitchhike makes it seem more reasonable. But not for Emily her walk includes running, lots of running away, death, fear and more fear.
Still pretty simple, right? Who hasn’t took a late night walk, lived a little dangerously. I know I have and at first I could connect with Emily on a fairly deep level and f having such a terrifying walk ahead. But no, her walk was like being hunted.
No service, no car and no people.
I Won’t Let You Go is a terrifying psychological thriller that will have you hooked from the very first page.
This is a suspenseful, nail biting, psychological thriller and once again this author has given me a book I didn't put down until the final page. Although it started off a bit slow the suspense was building and before I knew it I was caught up in the danger and craziness. I Won't Let You Go is a page turning read with unexpected twists, an interesting storyline, and an ending I wasn't expecting. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This was my first book by Cole Baxter and definitely won't be my last! I really enjoyed reading this one, it had all the elements I was looking for... mystery, suspense, thriller, a little action, and a lot of crazy! The storyline was so crazy that all I kept thinking about was what a great movie this would make! Very well written and worth the read.
Out of the blue Emily finds out that her long-term boyfriend is cheating on her. Although they haven't had much time together recently as Emily is working two jobs to make ends meet, she's devastated to receive an anonymous photo slipped under her apartment door of Jeremy with a young blonde woman. He told Emily he was working late again but she tracks him to a bar about 30 miles away & confronts him. They have a violent row which ends with Emily leaving after throwing a barstool & decking the bartender so she isn't in the mood for some stranger to hit on her & she shortly rejects him.
Weirdly her car now seems to be out of commission & even weirder, her phone doesn't work so she can't call for help. Emily doesn't want to go back into the bar after what happens so decides to walk home. It's only 30 miles right? As she walks home the stranger, Daniel, offers her a lift but she refuses. He becomes abusive & drives off but this is not the last she will see of him. He keeps returning & won't take no for an answer & becomes more & more abusive each time. Now Emily is on her own in the dark, miles from home, still no phone signal, & the only car on the road belongs to a threatening stranger.
I have four books of the author's to review & the synopsis to this one drew me in straight away. Emily can't even think why Daniel would be so fixated on her, they've never met before she turned him down at the bar. It's chilling because the situation is plausible & I would think that this is also many of my fellow women's worst nightmare: alone at night & at the mercy of an angry stranger who has taken rejection badly. The story itself does veer off into some rather extreme situations & I could imagine it making a great tv movie. It's fast-paced & gripping even if there are moments where you have to suspend your disbelief but the characters are a little one-dimensional. 3.5 stars (rounded down)
My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Inkubator Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC. (Read as part of the Cole Baxter Psychological Thriller Box Set due out 8th Nov 2023).
I read the synopsis for 'I Won't Let You Go' and it certainly sounded like an intriguing read. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for what proved to be an interesting afternoon of reading. Overall I did enjoy reading 'I Won't Let You Go' but more about that in a bit.
This was one of those books that instantly grabbed my attention and instantly drew me in. From then on I found it nigh on impossible to put the book to one side for any length of time. It was as if the book developed a hold over me and it was a hold that I wasn't willing to break. The lead character intrigued me and I was interested to discover how the story developed for her. I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen and so I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered in the opposite direction. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. At one point the pages seemed to be turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves and the page numbers became a blur. All too quickly I reached the end of 'I Won't Let You Go' and I had to say goodbye to Emily and the rest of the characters. I found 'I Won't Let You Go' to be a tense, gripping and dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
'I Won't Let You Go' is extremely well written. The author has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fairly fast pace throughout. I loved the very vivid and realistic way in which the author writes the story in the sense that I felt as though I was part of the story myself and I found myself going through the same emotions that the characters were going through. The author certainly knows how to create an atmosphere of terror- on more than one occasion I felt a shiver go up my spine at something that I had just read and certain characters gave me the heebie jeebies. Reading 'I Won't Let You Go' felt like being on an at times rather scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way.
In short and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'I Won't Let You Go' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Cole's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
She’s trapped in a nightmare. But she can’t wake up…
My insides might have landed on my outside after concluding this book. You know, I am all about spooky books but horrified to the core?
Who am I kidding, I loved it.
Drumroll please…. I Won’t Let You Go
Even the title is horrifying but the book will leave you complete “shook” and begging for your mama . If I wasn’t checking under my bed before, I sure am now …
This book holds an explosive twist that will leave your head spinning. I Won’t Let You Go, is not a book you want to miss.

The cover and title caught my eye but the blurb sounded good so I grabbed this book.
What did I like? Emily finds a note under her door that her partner Jeremy is cheating on her. One thing leads to one of the worst nights of Emily’s life. Hounded by a stranger then chased, Emily comes full circle in a gruesome tale.
Would I recommend or buy? The book was okay, I made it through. I just felt like some of the timing was off through out the book. Some things just didn’t add up. The police knew so much yet so little…. Two stars.
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left this review.
Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the copy of I won’t Let You Go. The writing was tough for me. Do people really refer to women as ‘chicks’ any more? Or put up with the man they are dating speaking to the woman he is trying to break up with in such a cruel, condescending way? As the book went on, the main character made one decision after the other. I got the feeling that the author doesn’t respect women and thinks they need a man to save them. What could have been a tense cat and mouse chase turned into a ‘meh’ story. Not an author I will ever read again
Just finished this book and i would like to tell you only one thing. I don't recommend this book.
It was monotonous, without any actual story, world building or pace and even characters were also dull. I never felt concern for character even once and was not at all terrified by the killer. So i dnfd it after 80 percent. And those 80 percent took ally sanity. Every scenes felt rushed and not accounted for 😮💨

A good read although detective Cole did surprise me. 4*.
"It was like a badly written chapter in her life. And she knew it was all orchestrated by some damn simpleton who’d specifically gone out of his way to torture her" (90). You said it buddy
I’m so happy to be on the blog tour for ‘I won’t let you go’ by Cole Baxter!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My no spoilers review…..
This is the first book I have read by this author but am going to add his others to my TBR list. I love a psychological thriller and this is a good ‘un! Emily’s stalker Daniel takes it to a whole new level. So much so that I almost couldn’t cope with the tension. It was almost overwhelming! I don’t want to go into any details as I don’t want to ruin the read for you. It is all the things you could want in a great psychological thriller…. It’s gripping, on the edge of your seat stuff. It’s the sort of book I found myself falling into and becoming totally engrossed in. I had absolutely no idea how Emily was going to get through it. And the end - wow!
Thank you so much to the author and Zooloo's Book Tours for my ARC.

I Won’t Let You Go – the terrifying psychological thriller perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst, K L Slater.
A Cheating Boyfriend Then an Obsessive Stalker…Emily Girl…You in Trouble
As if Emily isn’t fed up enough, with her mundane work life living pay check-to-pay check, and a future that’s looking just as bleak and boring.
Some thoughtful person as chosen to slip a picture under her door showing her boyfriend with his arms around a cute blonde about yo kiss her.
And, being more than just friends.
On a journey to a neighbouring town to track said Boyfriend down, and confront him, ( thanks find my friends)
Emily, does just that, tearing the bar apart, punching the barman, before storming out.
But!
Not before being confronted by a creepy, nerdy looking guy trying to pick her up.
Forcefully refusing his offer, she gets into her car to leave…
Only, it doesn’t start…
Even her phone has no service, so they goes roadside assist.
So….
Options? Options?
She could go back to the bar, use the landline, but, Nah.. Not after the drama she left behind..
So, Emily decided’s to walk all the way back to her apartment in Edmonton… A town that appears to be several mikes away.
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid..
Thus, begins a night of terror as Emily fights off the unwanted advances of Daniel ( nerdy, bar guy )
All while walking through woods, fields, over hills, along highways, and falling down cliffs, and hiding in trees..
Daniel NEVER GIVES UP.
It’s not until Emily finally, FINALLY stumbles across a farm house and some help, is she able to confront her tormentor.
Ending with a further big confrontation towards the end at the Hospital.
Seventy percent of this story is taken up by the hapless Emily traipsing over hill-and-dale trying to make it back to the city while been pursued and insulted by the obsessive Daniel ( who may be a wanted serial killer )
As in all of Cole Baxters books, we are privy to never ending self analysis by the female lead as she goes back and fought over events, and whether she is making the right choices.
This can get trying, as, at times, she covers the same ground over and over again, ( sometimes literally in this story ) dragging out the plot.
So, I afraid, there was more than one moment where i skimmed through a lot of Emily’s inner musings to get back to the actual story.
This book was okay.
Not as good as Doppelgänger.
Even the ending was a little predictable, if completely over the top. In fact there were moments in this story where you have to suspend belief more than once.
She was alone, on a deserted highway, in the dead of night, with an insane murderer who had just tried to run her over and crush her.
Set in and around Edmonton, Canada.
Emily Corrigan works by day as a virtual assistant/admin; in the evenings, she is a waitress.
She started dating Jeremy several years ago, back in college.
A mysterious photo, with a note on the back, sets the events into motion.
Good, authentic female voice.
Emily first meets Daniel at the bar: “You keep going for stupid assholes, and when a nice guy like me tries to do the right thing, you think you’re too good for me.”
It’s a huge risk to have so much of this story be told in Emily’s stream of consciousness. Unfortunately, as almost always happens…the narrative gets bogged down.
Stranded in a rural area. Emily does have quite a bit of a “woe is me” attitude. Chase and flight through all kinds of elements.
The middle portion is rather rough. Had to skim some. 😔
Gets good again at the farmhouse—Ollie and Mary are awesome.
Very weird novel overall. The ending is mostly good, especially the resolution as regards the villain. But The Endless Internal Monologues hinder the pace and flow.
Not enough men write psychological thrillers. Hoping this will change.
I'm kind of on the fence about how I feel about this one by Cole Baxter. His novels are usually quick and interesting reads. This one was very repetitive and a little too drawn out for me. Emily works hard to pay her bills and she works two jobs. She almost never sees her boyfriend and she feels like things have been a little different between them lately. Emily is at home on one of her rare nights off when someone slips something under her door. A picture of her boyfriend kissing another women. Emily decides she needs to confront him. She drives 3o miles to a bar in a different town and does not get the reaction from her now ex-boyfriend that she thought she would. When she gets back to her car, she realizes that her car will not start. Too embarrassed to go back into the bar, she decides to walk home. On her walk back she begins to get harassed by a guy she briefly interacted with in the bar. He really is trying to kill her. Will Emily survive the night? Who is this guy that is torturing her?
Emily and Jeremy have been together for several years. However, Emily notices that Jeremy has been distant lately. One day, she finds a printed picture of Jeremy with another woman on the floor of their shared apartment. So, Emily decides to track Jeremy down to a bar 30 miles away from their town. After confronting Jeremy at the bar, Emily leaves and realizes that her car and cell phone are not working. As a result, she decides to walk home. Amongst other things, this story is full of weirdness, craziness, and gunshots, ending on a happy(?) note. Very highly recommended.
I received a copy of this book in a box set via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is my second Cole Baxter novel, and both left me wanting more. This MC is Emily, the other Baxter book I read had an Emily as an MC, and they are not the same. This annoyed me at the beginning as I kept flashing back to the other character. This book did not contain much excitement, and not big twist. Everything was straight forward, and predictable. While reading this I found my mind wondering a lot. Due to this I found it a struggle to finish this book.
I want to thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC of this book.
This unfortunately was a very boring book, it didn't start to get interesting until the last 15 mins or so and I ended up skipping many many pages just to find any interesting parts, the ending which was a relief to get to was predictable there was no mystery, no wondering what was going to happen next, a very boring book all around and guess it would be good for someone who doesn't like things to happen.
This book grabbed my attention from beginning to end. It moved fast and I found myself reading until late morning to see what happened. It was so full of suspense that it had my heart pounding. The ending brought everything together and it was just shocking!!
I liked the way the story came together. The twists the story had was very breathtaking in every way. It was so in depth that to put the book down was nearly impossible. I would 100% recommend this book be read by any person who likes a twist in a story. A1++++++++++
I won't let you go was a book that really drew me in, ot was terrifyingly amazing. The danger, the suspense, and the fear that Emily felt was so easily felt by the reader as she fought for her life. There were a few times I thought Daniel would win, but Emily managed to outsmart him. This book is a most definite must-read. You will love it.
I have read many of Mr. Baxter's books. While this one ranks as one of my least favorites, I still enjoyed it somewhat. I kept waiting for surprising twists and turns that never came. I will continue to be a fan, as the author is phenomenal. Many of his readers may enjoy this one. It just didn't strike a chord with me.
All I could envision was a rat in a maze being chased by a bigger meaner rat. There really was not much to this story and the moral was a simple fact the some men 'think' they are far superior to women.
I read this book in an afternoon. It was so suspenseful and made me feel like I was right there running with the main character. There is a little bit of gore and some foul language for those who are looking for that info.
I think Cole Baxter is an amazing author and I’ve read tons of his books but I’ve got to say this one was one of my favorites. I read the entire thing in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. If you’re debating on reading it believe me you won’t regret it.
This was not an edge of your seat book. I found it a long winded and far fetched story. Persevered to the end skimming through chapters but there were no twists or turns.
This had me on the edge of my seat, genuinely terrified. I was wondering if first person pov persons died in books and I wouldn't have been surprised if it happened with this one.
