Jeffrey's Instant Pot cookbooks are among my go-to books both for my own use and when I recommend books to new Instant Pot users. His recipes just work. That's not something I can say for every recipe book out there, not even for the Instant Pot. First things first: everything I loved about the first three books is true about this one, too. The layout is outstanding, and it's still a perfect book for someone who's still a little afraid of their Instant Pot because the first chapter covers the basics of the Instant Pot (as well as a lot of other useful information) and the recipes are formatted to make things as easy as possible. The variety of recipes is impressive, covering all the major categories (including desserts).
Basic nutrition information is no longer included for every recipe, but armed with the number of servings you can figure that out using the list of ingredients on any number of websites. Each recipe has been identified with a series of symbols as being keto, paleo, dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan (or compliant with modifications), or to identify those recipes that need an air-fryer lid which I don't have (only 12 recipes, all of which have oven roasting instructions as well, or the air-fryer portion is optional). Most of the recipes have instructions for fewer servings, and indicate what, if any, changes should be made to cooking times. There are also a lot of tips throughout the book for optional ways to make a dish, or modify it to meet various dietary needs. This book, in keeping with its focus on shortcuts, also indicates recipes that are dump & go, or consist of 3 or fewer steps, or 5 or fewer ingredients, all of which reduce the amount of time needed for prep.
Reading through the recipes tells me many of these are not low-calorie, which is not a problem as long as you're aware of it. The lack of nutritional information makes this harder, but there are websites that can help.
This is my favorite series for the instant pot. I use all four of them all the time. Probably- my favorite thing about them is the clear step by step pictures. ( you don't have to wonder if you're doing it right- it just shows you what it should look like. Makes it an easy jump into trying foods you've never tried before). I also really like that he gives suggestions on how to customize or change it. I use his books all the time for meal planning, for those random days where we are all over the place and our kitchen looks like it's straight outta Chopped- to figure out what can be made from what I have on hand. Our current favorite is the broccoli cheese risotto (it tastes just like the soup except its risotto!) We've done it with cauliflower, we've added ham and bacon...
My parents gave us an instant pot for Christmas. Not gonna lie, we were initially intimidated. My trusty library had some books to get us over the slump and actually plug the sucker in. Favourite recipe from our family to yours: Instant Pot Wholesale Club Pasta. We also really enjoyed his burger recipe: The Perfect Ten Burger. We cooked them in the instant pot and then finished up on the grill = easy and delish.
At first look the recipes look complicated but with the step by step instructions with pictures really helps. I have the smaller 3 qt instant pot and this is the only one of his books that helps with that. The kindle format also works well for me. All of the recipes I've tried have come out really well. I would highly recommend this book for anyone learning to use the instant pot
Again, this is a great book, if you can eat dairy and gluten. Cheese adds great flavour and texture to dishes, and many recipes in this book call for it - and more than just a sprinkle on top. So they are a no-go for me.
His “Lighter” book was amazing for us - I wish he would write more books on that vein. This book is too dependent on pasta and cheese to be really useful to me.
Great recipes! I’m looking forward to trying them. Marked so many of them. On to create a plan to try them out. Simple recipes, great pics, and instructions for someone like me who doesn’t really enjoy cooking!
Love Jeffery and all his recipes. Highly recommend this book if you have, or are planning to get, an electric pressure cooker. His recipes are loaded with photos & tips so your dish will turn out perfectly. I’ve yet to find a recipe we didn’t like.
This is a great recipe collection, well photographed and easy to follow with lots of options for modification for special needs and preferences. I personally only found two recipes that I bookmarked but this would be a good place to start - as are any in the series of cookbooks put out by Eisner.
As always, Jeffrey has put together great information on using the Instant Pot, time saving tips, beautiful pictures and delicious recipes. 4-1/2 Stars
