Wicked Girls

Rate this book
You’re a witch, Teagan!

That’s what my new roommate tells me – not exactly what I was expecting from my first week of college.

My first thought is she’s off her rocker, but when she brings me to a huge, gothic building in the middle of town that I somehow never noticed before and welcomes me to Lilith Academy – a school for witches – it starts to feel real.
And so do my powers.

The little tingles I always wrote off as my imagination turn into surges of energy I struggle to control – especially when my roomie and two of the other girls from class are nearby.

They make my newfound magic go wild. If I don’t find a way to tame it and pass my first-year exams I’ll lose my power… but I can’t stay away from these deliciously wicked girls.

Leigh/Malone has done well with this first book in the Lilith Academy series.
From a mundane setting at Morgan University known for agriculture based courses, I was transported to more interesting surroundings and the paranormal Academy. The introduction of the four mains Teagan, Silverine, Gabrielle then Lyra made things interesting as a first year foursome. Managing courses at Morgan then classes at Lilith's made my head spin but in a good way! An illegal coven is formed but be careful with the power discovered, jealousy is around. Spells are learned and strengths uncovered. Feelings sweetly dealt with and explored with eventual hot love shared and subtle pairing in Teagan and Gabrielle, Silverine and Lyra. The end of year test looms - will the foursome excel or lose their powers permanently. A friend may depend on their success and vampires are now involved.
I'm hooked and looking forward to answers in book 2. A fine foray into the paranormal by Malone.

I rec'd a copy from the author(s) and this is an unbiased, voluntary review.

A lovely story of erotic witchcraft

It started with Sil telling her new roommate Teagan that she is a witch. Then at Lilith Academy they get the unfortunately bumbling Gabriela to join them. And finally, late for the start of the year, Lyra joins them too.

These four beautiful women grow closer throughout the year, which also strengthens their magic. And finally, they have a wonderful hot night of polyamory sex, which is strengthened so much by their magical connection.

This is a magical fantasy, with many parallels to another famous witchcraft school in literature… But on its own merits the story is exceptional. And hot! The love between the four women is obvious, and the sensitive way in which the author handles the not fully transitioned Lyra is exceptional.

Kinsey Leigh & Cara Malone
Wicked Girls

The story opens up with Teagan being dropped off at college. She was excited to begin a chapter in her life.

This story was great. Women who connected on a deeper level , they were all pulled together in different ways but had love and admiration for one another.

I love a story about magic, so this was right up my alley. All the girls came together and supported and loved each other. I have to say for me it was a coming of age story.

I really enjoyed the relationship between the group of friends. They all loved and uplifted each other.

This was my first book by the author and definitely not my last . I would like to thank the author for the advance copy of the book. 4 stars.

I got an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

3,75. Not my favorite Malone book. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty great, and although rather different from her usual work, the characters were round and the story moved at a steady pace, though a bit weird, making jumps without actually stating it, leaving you to figure it out four pages in. It’s an interesting and entertaining read, just nothing to write home about.

I had trouble getting into the shipping; not because of the poliamory (while not something I actively look for, it doesn’t bother me and I won’t avoid a book just because of it like I do with age-gap), but because aside from the sexual attraction they have for each other (everyone is hot and available, you know the drill), there’s not a speck of romantic feel to the relationship. They just work so much better as best friends, a really tightly knit group that is just so connected that they can practically read each other’s thoughts. It just feels rather forced; their interactions would feel much more organic and real if things stayed platonic. Like the platonic soulmate bond between Steve and Robin from Stranger Things so prevalent on fan fictions.

I also couldn’t for the life of me make myself like Silverine: her blind faith in a glaringly obvious broken system, the privilege of being raised by magic parents she doesn’t value or even recognize, the way she doesn’t even try to empathize with Teagan when she’s feeling scared and out of her depth, the ‘this is how I feel so everyone should feel like this and if someone doesn’t they’re crazy’, how she’s willing (at first, they manage to change her mind) to leave someone she calls ‘best friend’ behind if it means not getting in trouble… She’s also the de facto leader of the group, but not because she’s a good leader or because she deserves to be, but because the other three are too shy and more of a follower type for one of them to be the leader.

All these little moments pertaining to either one of these things just kept me from truly loving the book as a whole, having to find enjoyment in the snippets in between, which just wasn’t enough.

Also, Gabriela’s dad sucks, he may be nice and all, but he’s definitely not a good father; making your child doubt herself like that, making sure she know you expect her to fail and how disappointed in her you’ll be. WTF, man. Oh, and Bennett deserves to get slapped so hard he bruises.

Ok. Done. Bye!

Thank you ma'am, may I have another?

I'm always down for lesbian witches, and these were some awesome lesbian witches! Romance and sexual tension in a group of four with no stupid misunderstandings or miscommunications or drama, yet the story remains engaging throughout. It's a great example of how there is no need to put women against each other for them to share the page/screen/scene.
Also, great sex scene. ;)

This is different from what Ms Malone usually writes, different but still good. Interesting storyline, with well developed characters and lots of magic. Not sure how i would feel if I got to college and then found out i was a witch - good tagline. Well worth the read.

This is not a bad book; it's simply disappointing. If you're looking for fluffy poly witches, it's worth giving a shot. I was entirely unimpressed, but I suspect I will pick up the sequel eventually.

The good:
- A very steamy foursome sex scene
- A trans witch
- Some beautiful small moments
- The ending, in which something finally happens

The bad:
- There is no plot
- Seriously, none
- Four perspectives were unnecessary and not sufficiently distinct
- The characters are too flat, too similar
- The four witches all instantly fall in love with one another
- The four witches are all apparently total bombshells, flawless beauties
- The trans witch is... the only trans witch... ever?
- The misogynistic wizarding culture is utterly bizarre
- The villain is unbelievably pathetic
- Did I mention the lack of plot?

The biggest draw here is the romance, which is... passable. It has excellent moments, but the mixed perspectives made me feel like I was missing out on a lot of development. Despite the instalove, their relationship progresses slowly, and I really appreciated that. I just wish there was more to it, you know?

The trans character was... very confusing. I suspect we'll be exploring trans witches more in the next book, as the lack of them seemed to be an interesting plot point. Some of the discussion around trans witches was kind of appalling, though. Like... saying that they maybe didn't exist until recently, because of the rise of gender-affirming care? How does that check out? And the trans girl's worries about menopause were, uh, hm. Amusing? At other times, though, she was written beautifully, empathetically. I don't get it!

I dunno. For a book that bored me, I sure have a lot to say. It's the kind of book that makes me want to write—makes me say, oh, I could do better than that. I just wish the author had done a better job in the first place, because it had so much potential.

A book about witches? Wow, I was determined not to like this book due to its content, but Cara took me on a journey of discovery. From the moment Teagan, and her three new friends, entered Lilith Academy, their lives were changed forever. I loved the illegal coven they formed to practice all their strengths and learn to control their weaknesses. I loved the way in which they, four young women, dealt with all the patriarchal restrictions of the academy. And I loved the unbroken bond of their friendship, no matter how many obstacles were put in their way. This book will not be for everyone, but there is no doubt that the writing of Leigh/Malone will take the reader on a truly magical ride of discovery in this new series!

hmm

I’m not sure what to say about this book.
I mean,it’s Cara Malone so you know it’s gonna be good. And it was, don’t get me wrong. I’m just not sure I’m the demographic it’s aimed at. Like I said it’s a good read, and if your into magical books then I’m sure you will get more from it.
I will probably still read the following books because as I said, it’s Cara Malone. The story telling is still strong and engaging. Please don’t think this is a negative review, it isn’t. I did enjoy it.

This tale begins with mutually attractive college roommates and soon segues into a hidden world of witchcraft. The initial relationship soon expands to four women who are connected to each other with increasingly complex bonds. The structure of the magical world is only partially described, though it is clearly misogynistic and rigid. Presumably these issues will be further explored and addressed by the young women in future tales. In the meantime, this is a fun read, albeit a story with several outstanding questions.

Tegan is starting her first year at Monroe college. Her roommate is Silverine, a stunningly beautiful witch, she finds out. Only after, Sil discovers that Tegan is too. Sil introduces Tegan to Lilith University, a school for witches. Along they're adventures they meet Gabriela, Lyra and Monica. All witches.
They take you on their adventure learning about witchcraft and the ending is just the beginning of a mystery. I can't wait to read Book of Shadows, the 2nd book of the series. OMG! This book is fascinating! 5 stars!!!

Wonderful Wicked Witches

Wicked Girls is a fun Read about four witches, who meet up to begin their magical education at Lilith Academy. Sil, Gabi, Teagan, and Lyra are the four witches. They form a powerful four point coven. Their love for each other makes their magic that much more powerful. I cannot wait to see the next year at Lilith Academy.

So cool

We get to meet 4 young witches that learn how to use their powers in Lilith’s Academy and how they meet each other. Awesome story and it’s so cool to find out why the book is titled ‘Wicked Girls’. Can’t wait for book 2! Awesome start to a series!

4 - This is cute and simple and wholesome and adventurous. The romance part is played out a little shallow, just like every other aspect. World building, potential drama, developments - this is not epic or heavy-handed. Grab it, love it, have fun with it and cheer on four bad-ass witches!

Not got quite the polish and depth as some. Only one sex scene very late on in the book. Ending a bit random.
