ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 5✨️ I flew through the last 2 books so fast and now I have to wait for the next book!🥹 (ohhh the agony😫) I really loved that in this book we got to see other empries and kingdoms! I just wish that it wasn't so short because I am still so hungry for more from this world and its characters! And of course, it is always fun to see Larks's OPness and our good ole potty mouth, arrogant and murderous 7 headed, oversized dog who only wants his master's attention Blackie the Earth Scylla.
Like seriously can someone please give me my own Blackie?🥺🤣
A good continuation of the series. Things keep progressing. This series has been remarkably consistent throughout. This one deals more with the empire and their relationship with the kingdom before the demons actually show up. Overall I really enjoy the series.
"Twin Portals," the 10th book in Michael Sisa’s "Legend of the Arch Magus" series, published in 2023 and narrated by Tom Taylorson, is a thrilling continuation of the power-fantasy saga centered on the reincarnated Arch Magus, Lark Marcus. This audiobook delivers another fast-paced blend of magical innovation, strategic maneuvering, and escalating stakes. "Twin Portals" captivates with its ambitious world-building and Taylorson’s impeccable narration.
In "Twin Portals," Lark, the exiled noble wielding ancient magical knowledge, navigates new challenges as his domain’s influence expands. Sisa shines in depicting Lark’s ingenuity, with highlights including his groundbreaking magical constructs and reforms that transform his territory into a formidable power. The titular portals introduce a fresh dynamic, enabling rapid travel and trade, which Sisa uses to explore themes of connectivity and ambition. These elements, paired with tense political and military developments, keep the narrative engaging. The broader world feels more alive here, with hints of rival factions and looming conflicts that add intrigue without overwhelming the story’s focus on Lark’s ascent.
Tom Taylorson’s narration remains a highlight, and is “flawless.” His versatile performance - calm and authoritative for Lark, vibrant for action scenes - breathes life into the story, making even weaker passages compelling. Taylorson’s ability to distinguish characters and maintain energy ensures Twin Portals is a pleasure to listen to, reinforcing his status as a series cornerstone.
"Twin Portals" is another “fun” progression fantasy. It is a rewarding listen for fans of Lark’s relentless rise, offering innovative magic and high-stakes strategy. Taylorson’s narration elevates the experience. Perfect for those seeking escapist fantasy, "Twin Portals" delivers with flair.
Just wish these books were longer and came out quicker! Great storyline and good pace to keep the reader interested. Looking forward to the next book asap.
Finally after what seemed like eternity the next volume came out! The war with the demons is really heating up and we learned more about the Empire. I was happy to learn the Thunderlord is still alive if for no other reason than I’m looking forward to the inevitable confrontation between him and Lark, especially after what he did in the forbidden region. This is truly a great series and I’ll be patiently waiting for the next volume.
While I am enjoying the series, this book felt incomplete. most of the others tended to complete story arcs within the individual books; this one just starts one and doesn't move the story along much. I enjoyed reading it but had I known it didn't complete the arc, I would have waited until the next book (books) so I wasn't left in the lurch.
This series started fine but quickly lost steam. The books don't tell a story, just chapters in a web novel. There is a disconnect between each book and no attempt at character progression. The short length of each one reinforces this.
Nothing happens. Literally nothing. People travel about for a while. And then the book ends. The series is excellent, but this book has very little actual story in it. You could very easily get away with not getting this one.
This addition to the series had some editing issues but overall it remains a fun simple enjoyable story. Many mean characters were used in this addition to the story, it doesn't like past books, the author gave each main character enough storyline to engage the reader more. One of the editing issues I noticed was the author repeats some information dumps which makes it repetitive for the reader. The overall hotline remains logical and fun. The story is simple and enjoyable, with the pacing being consistently good throughout the series. Simple enjoyable read keeps the reader engaged!
What can I say? I love it, the moment I knew it was out for kindle I bought it. I instantly told my friend and he bought it too. Once you start reading, you can't stop. There's so much to tell and that it's happening in the story that each book feels so short. We love Lark, take your time writing dear author, we'll always wait to know more of this amazing story. And if you decide to make a physical version, here or a kickstarter, count with us!
I love this series. When it hits an arc and then wraps that arc up and moves into the next bit it's really cool. But it feels like book 9, 10, 11 should probably be 1 book. We aren't really getting punch moments with the main char or a side hero we know. It also feels like I'd love to see some development with the disciples. Instead, we get a bit but it's flashes. I also love the idea of seeing the older disciples and discovering things about them. I am still in love with the series but I am not in love with the pacing.
My Rating System: 5- Perfect for my taste, I could not physically stop reading/listening and wanted more afterward. 4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterward. 3- I enjoyed the book and could see others loving it, I need to think if I want more. 2- I can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more. 1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for, but definitely not for me).
I would first like to say well done for carrying on with this series and that I enjoyed the book very much. If you have read the previous books in this series I'm sure you have a pretty good picture on what's in this book.
I hope that in the future instalment that lark returns to Blackstone town and loses a bit of the operator mindset so that other characters in the story may play there part.
This one is better then the last two it expands the story a lot... I love the characters especially the main character . his apprentice's are all fun characters and I can't wait to see how much they grow. I have read this book series from book one I didn't enjoy one or two but I started with it and it is just gotten better. Can't wait until the next book!!!!!
Finished it today going too reread it later want more its doing very well wish it was longer than again I'm used too reading thousands of chapters hope we see more of some of the side characters there so many and they all important in there own write looking forward too more
Really like this series.. I was really excited to start it but it felt like it ended too quickly. Felt like the princess and lark and the empire court magcian could have been developed more and I don't really feel the like story progressed much at all... I have higher hopes for the next book.
The Empire is coming to kill King Lark. At least that is what the emperor tasked his assassins to do. The demons are on the verge of forming a portal to the human world. Politics, fear, and a reprioritization of goals ensue. I like the action, humor, intrigue, and magic. I look forward to the next book.
Audio: 5 Stars, have I said this narrator is great? They ARE!!!!
Story: I was torn on this one, loved some pieces and hated others. I think we go back to the demons topic which is not my thing. However, it is still an interesting read so I will continue the series. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
I have read all 11 books in this series and found each of them enjoyable. The main character interesting and sometime funny, some of the other characters (like Blackie) are funny as well. I can't wait till the next book comes out.
I loved this book and Al of those in the series before it! The only complaint I have is that they aren’t longer! I want to read more, it seems as though when I get completely interested we are at the end. Oh well can’t wait till the next one is published,
It is always a pleasure reading about Lark and his adventures, but it's always so short 😣 and then the wait... Can't complain to much I enjoy them regardless. Waiting game for Book 11 has begun
The latest edition of Larks adventures sees the new king getting settled in and preparing for the inevitable war against the demons , excellent addition to the series.
Satisfying that some evil gets punished. Some improvement is happening in some lives. Sad that lives are lost without need. Unfortunately this a fact. Hope next chapters in this story are published soon.
Can’t stop reading this series. One of the best series I’ve ever read. Thank you for the entertainment. I actually have food poisoning and suffering. To get my mind off, this book took care of it and eased my mind. Awesome.
Good story, I like the magic of this realm. If it had just that extra bit of depth (or would it be 'maturity' that someone like Feist or Rothfus could bring I would put this down as one of the best series of the decade. Still a great 4 star series.
This whole series is a lot of fun to experience. Micheal Sisa has a keen sense of balance between action, adventure, and every day life. The relationships and characters have interesting backstories.
Pretty good. The promised conflict with the Demons is drawing nearer. We get some of the demons’ perspective which I don’t really care about but it is a good reminder that they are there. The empire has their envoy in the kingdom and things get heated. It was fun to see Lark handle the situation.
