It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dr. Michael Freeman is a creative genius. Despite being born with brain damage and labeled “retarded” when he started school, by age 13, he was winning national science contests and by the age of 30, he had earned his PhD. He is the inventor of the first computer that talks and the first phone menu system. He also created smart toys with the two-XL Robot series. If you’ve never heard of him, that’s because he has never done any interviews.
But that’s all in the past with the publication of his timely and vital expose of how internet porn can influence children’s lives. In his book, “Freeman Explains,” he also has plenty to say about why U.S. elections should be done online, “making them convenient and allowing citizens to vote from anywhere in the world and ensuring the legitimacy of the results.”
Dr. Freeman’s book is, at times, brutally frank about the nature and content of internet porn. At the same time, it’s sprinkled with personal stories and anecdotes that reveal the author’s sense of humor and witty outlook on life. As Dr. Freeman puts it, internet porn is “violent, often underage, uncontrolled, perverted, includes animals and pets, and portrays females as lower than snakes.” The author also points out that internet porn is extremely accessible to anyone who knows how to do a search on the internet.
Dr. Freeman believes that internet porn is not only pornography but actually “brutalization.” He says porn dehumanizes and objectifies women in a myriad of ways and affects men’s expectations and understanding of the real meaning of loving sex and intimacy. He points out that statistics show that American children are now accessing internet porn at the age of 12. And although there are programs to block specific sites, there are also many ways to circumvent the blocks.
In “Freeman Explains,” the author spells out a new, brilliant method that would protect and separate porn from children and teens. This insightful book includes many stories drawn from the author’s own life, as well as the experiences of his parents and even grandchildren. He also delves into such topics as how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, along with other dangers associated with promiscuous sex. He maintains throughout the book that many sexual problems are the result of men’s insecurity. He says men’s “egos demand positive reinforcement and nothing will stop this process.” He even has chapters dedicated to how we describe women’s anatomy and the dangers of legalizing marijuana. And he has plenty to say about the importance of two-parent families that include both a man and a woman.
On the topic of online elections, Dr. Freeman says they would “eliminate doubt and put confidence back into voting.” He cites studies that show how tens of millions of Americans have little to no confidence in how American elections are run and he says a Newsweek poll in 2022 showed that U.S. citizens believe the government is corrupt. The same poll showed “almost 30 percent of voters believe there will come a time when citizens have to take up arms against the government.” The author spells out in detail how online elections would work and how they could be secured using “properly engineered algorithms and new Artificial Intelligence tools.”
“Freeman Explains” is a fascinating and insightful deep dive into a variety of topics that should be of great concern to Americans. If you believe our children are truly our future, this is an essential guide to protecting that precious future.

Upon first glance, I was afraid this book would be another preachy self-help book. However, it was anything but! Dr. Michael Freeman discusses a variety of topics that he finds to be relevant to today’s society, and he proposes solutions based on his research and own experiences. As he states in the introduction, “As you read the book, you can decide what's best for you. Success, in my mind, is a person achieving their goals, and knowing how to think helps this happen. I lay out the facts as I see them, and you decide how to act. Part of this process is being familiar with inductive/deductive reasoning, cost/benefit analysis, and using inferential and inferable conclusions.” Dr. Freeman is an intelligent man with an extensive list of accomplishments (which are mentioned in the book right off the bat), so he clearly knows what he is talking about, but he is open to seeing multiple sides of an issue and encourages readers to come to their own conclusions.
Dr. Freeman covers four main issues in this book: the exposure of pornography to young kids, the dangers of drugs, parenting tactics, and the voting system. Although they may seem unrelated, Dr. Freeman does a fantastic job of keeping the same tone throughout, so when the subject changes, it did not take me out of the book. Firstly, he discusses the effects of pornography on developing minds, specifically covering how easy it is to access and how that means increasingly younger kids are accidentally stumbling across it. Secondly, he discusses the rates of drugs among teens, and how there should be concern about what is legalized where there is no scientific research to back up what is safe. Thirdly, he discusses what he refers to as “neutered parenting,” the idea that some parents are too hands-off with their children, and therefore the kids miss out on life lessons and can result in an increase in misbehavior. Finally, he tackles the American voting system, and how it needs an overhaul due to distrust and disappointment towards the current system. He proposed online voting and how to implement it based on technology that is already available.
I found this book absolutely fascinating because although I did not agree with every single view he mentioned, I didn’t want to put it down! Dr. Freeman emphasizes in every chapter that he doesn’t want his readers to blindly follow his own beliefs. It was a refreshing perspective compared to similar problem-solving books, where the author’s solutions are shoved down the reader’s throats. I really appreciated that Dr. Freeman’s views were backed up by scientific evidence, usually from behavioral studies and professionals on each topic. He also adds personal experiences and humor, which keeps the book entertaining. I would love to see a follow-up to this book in a few years when more research has been done, specifically on drugs and new parenting tactics, because those topics seem the most controversial and could benefit from more solid evidence that unfortunately isn’t available yet.

Author Michael J Freeman, PhD is a tech expert, having created touch-tone phone branching, the core technology that made computers speak, smart toys, and numerous extensions of artificial intelligence and robotics. In this brief but fascinating book he makes use of his vast knowledge of tech possibilities as the baseline for discussing his concerns about where we are and where we could be headed, should we not all become aware of dire possibilities. As he states, ‘I am a scientist, not an alarmist, and my work is based on fact, wisdom, and disciplined calculations. I correlate behaviors with likely emerging results of such behaviors. The initial chapter – How to Separate Kids from the Horrors of Internet Porn – is a strong alert. ‘Our kids are using computers, smart devices, and cell phones at a much younger age than ever before and for a longer time’ and demonstrates his concern about the negative impacts (dehumanizing women, witnessing acts of brutality, etc) and recommends ‘Porn needs to be moved to its own domain classification away from kids. The title of this fascinating book instantly grabs readers, Freeman Explains: The Things That Can Change, That Should Change. This is because the content in the book is literally what the title states. The author Dr. Michael J. Freeman is direct and gives readers exactly what the title promises. This book summarizes what happens in society and what is wrong with people’s approach regarding pertinent issues. Freeman is intentional and weighs on issues before offering a solution. The author examines the problem, digs down to the root, and analyzes every aspect of the issue before giving his final take.
There are multiple issues discussed in the book, but there is one particular topic that I am grateful for the most; Kids and pornography. This is a sensitive subject to some and is even outlawed in certain cultures. In Freeman’s book, however, the reader is given a clear perspective on the harm pornography causes to young minds. Freeman writes about the harm of pornography and how the internet, despite making life easier, is causing tremendous damage as anyone can access whichever content they please. The author hopes that internet pornography can be regulated. He even offers strategic solutions to this problem, giving rational answers to anyone with questions.
Other than pornography, Freeman also tackles more than a dozen other topics. Like the title suggests, Freeman explains things you need to know as a human being and a citizen of the world. Contemporary issues need modern solutions, and the author is here to do just that, offer sensible and logical solutions. I also enjoyed reading about drug problems, healthcare, politics and policymaking, medicine, religion, marriage, sex, education, voting rights, and civic education. Readers will get a discussion on almost all topics law-makers debate about.
What I like most about the author is his passion for children and young people. One can see the genuine concern he has through his text. He will share with you why children need to be protected and how every responsible adult can do it. Two of my favorite texts in the book are ‘Without perspective, you know nothing’ and ‘you don’t know what you don’t know.’ Both phases are in reference to children or young minds. On issues like pornography, children may not be able to know what is good for them and what is not because they are yet to see or experience what adults already have. Simply put, they lack perspective and thus don’t know anything.
Dr. Michael J. Freeman and his work are the true definition of ‘with age comes wisdom.’ The author, having experienced an eventful life, understands what ails society and knows what should be encouraged. Reading his thoughts was refreshing, as one can tell that the author is not influenced by modern trends. Freeman openly shared his takes and explained in detail his views. This thought-provoking book is perfect for those interested in how the modern world is shaping children and their futures.

An Important Book All Americans Should Read
In Freeman Explains, Dr. Michael Freeman, a futurist and legendary inventor offers solutions to the problems about which many of us complain without the desire to push a political agenda. Dr. Freeman digs deeply into what many want changed, but never had the fortitude to discuss in public. We all want to keep kids from internet pornography; Dr. Freeman explains not only how to go about doing so, but goes beneath the surface the multi-layered underlying societal issues attached. He acknowledges there is never a simple answer and we must not simply make rule adjustments, but how attitudes towards the industry, relationships, women and men in American society need to be changed as well.
People have complained a long time about election integrity; Dr. Freeman not only says his system will be the safest possible, but makes sure to explain why from several components of the plan without writing down to the reader despite how serious or genuine their stances on the issue.
Dr. Freeman opens the reader up to an honest discussion about how society is being led by popular culture gatekeepers have shaped perceptions about people and the new stereotypes perpetrated in entertainment media. In Freeman Explains: The Things That Can Change That Should Be Changed, he has fixed his gaze upon human nature and society, peering back through time and towards a future which appears cloudy and bleak.
He sets the tone from the outset with Chapter One, Separating Kids from Porn, and doesn’t let up in his honest reporting of how the Internet, social media, educational systems, parental supervision, movies, television, and more, are causing the slow and steady destruction of lives, families, communities and society. Expect brutal honesty, examples of past societal norms, quaint family stories and a fervent call to action.
Easy Internet access to all kinds of sexual images, activity and meetings are of particular concern to Freeman, who sees young minds, and bodies, getting polluted and twisted from all sides. Dr. Michael Freeman is a genius in our midst. He has the wit of Mark Twain and the intellect of Albert Einstein.
Freeman's life has been focused on inventions. He brought us the first toy robot and the menu ladder on touch tone phones.
Now Freeman has focused on offering solutions to the ills of society. Never before in human history has so much been at stake.
