I Rode with Jesse James

Rate this book
The name Jesse James was enough to strike fear in the heart of ex-con Willie Goodwin when he discovered who he had been hired to track down. But Wille had already taken the Pinkerton's money and he didn't have much choice. Despite his vow to bring them to justice, Willie is drawn to the reckless and exciting life of the James and Younger clans in Missouri--and to Jesse's beautiful cousin Sarah Cole. Original.

I must say I was not impressed. It got to the point that I started pausing every so often to get rough estimates of how many pages were left before I was finished. The characters felt very two-dimensional, even the narrator, the double dipping Pinkerton agent who also worked for the James gang.
This is the first (real) Western I've read and I probably wouldn't have finished it except I was reading it for my senior thesis. I sure hope this isn't indicative of the genre.
