Figured I’d start my Halloween reading with a Paperback From Hell I had picked up many years before that term came about, and this one definitely has a lot of crazy shit in it. Ultimately, I was ready to get it over with a little too early to give it a higher rating. Watching a trashy horror movie is fun for 90 minutes, reading one for 6, 8, 10, hours is a stretch. Guess I’ll stick with bad movies and better books.

Also, I can’t seem to find out for sure, but it seems like this might be a sequel to the author’s earlier book The Witchjng. There’s an early scene that’s like, “hey, remember when you were kidnapped and almost killed by the local satanic cult? Crazy.”

A pleasant surprise. Cover and first 50 pages or so is pure garbage, but from then on it is a steep climb upwards. Brilliant and very believable villain (utterly clueless, but still believable) and solid ending. Worth a read if you stumble across it :-)
