NOT SAFE for me…….Spoliers

-It’s and RH and most of the men are weak betas!

Most of this is about the main guy in the harem…..

-Main H in harem has known h her whole life and had a connection. He’s in love with her since they were young. Like a deep connection.

-They got separated and years past and h is searching for H.

-H knows where h is and is keeping tabs on her. But is making sure she doesn’t find him.

-They reunite and are put together as a team with that’s has her and the harem working together. They live together as a team.

-H knows he is her bonded but keeps it a secret cause he doesn’t want to bond🤬

-H is HORRIBLE to h. He is sleeping with his fuck buddy which the h see constantly. She sees them making out. See OW coming out of his room after sex.

-At a gala H corners h and kisses her and they have a slight make out session. But right after H goes out to the limo and fucks his fuck buddy and h walks up and sees them. 🤮🤢🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢right after he had his tongue down h throat! No way! And of course she sees it and just deals like a doormat! No respect for her at all.

-Then when things explode H tells h she has no right to tell him who he can fuck. 🤯 I mean she is technically MATE.

-It comes out that he knew they were bonded (mates) and lied. He says he loves her his whole life😳… sure ya did. She forgives him immediately and they move on. ☹️ NO GROVEL

-Knowing she was his bonded and kept fucking OW right in front of her for months and basically the whole first book is disgusting and it is DEFINITELY CHEATING 🤬😡🤬😡

-Waist of time. It’s about a group of people fighting with their brains 🧠 and it was boring but honestly after the whole cheating thing I was out anyways!

I feel like I am winning lately at the game of RH roulette

That unknown new series by the author you have never tried before, the one your friends haven’t read yet? It can be like a game of Russian Roulette but thankfully no one dies except for your faith in that author.

So I’m happy to report this was not one of those!

This is one of those lovely slow YA type journey of discovery and a new beginning at a new school.
Eve has never settled in one place and had a bit of tragedy in her past and is now starting a new school under scholarship. Meeting new friends and discovering hidden powers which will link her to her harem. Bringing us to....

Popular reason #2 for a harem - Magical bond

Yay! I love a magical bond. It makes a great plot device for a harem. You don’t have to go through the angst and guilt ridden emotions like ”ughhhh I can’t be in a relationship with more than one man at a time”

Although the plot is YA in nature the relationships are more NA so there is a little heat to keeps us adults interested and it flows so well it’s really easy to read. Evelyn is a likeable character despite crying for about 40% of the book.

If you were a fan of TVD or Spirit Bound this is similar in nature. New beginnings with some baggage, protective men, emerging powers, relationship building...etc etc

The only kink in the works was someone by the name of

Can’t say but he was a MAJOR ASSHOLE

Yup every time I thought he was redeemable he went and made me want to punch my kindle time and time again

I really want him to get his comeuppance Please don’t make it easy for him Kaydence give him a massive kick up the arse

I want begging and ass kissing. But apart from that I loved everything else and the other guys make up for the asshole.

Variant Lost is a story about our protagonist, Eve, whose mother has made them run her entire life. She’s never allowed to stay in one place for more than a few months, they forge documents to fake their identities, and she’s not allowed to have anything but surface level relationships with people she meets. Why they’re running has always been a secret, Eve doesn’t know why she’s not allowed to live her life.

But circumstances change, and she finds herself in a school that has a large Variant population. Variants in this world are what mutants are to X-men, and Eve has always been interested in studying them. Here, she meets some Variants that she feels drawn to, and the reason she had to run starts to be unconverted.

I have major Shatter Me vibes from this book. Fun, easy to read, sexy at times, and a relatively intricate plot. Fingers crossed it stays fun, unlike Shatter Me. 🙃

I love stories about people with powers!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 🤨☺️🙃😎🥰

The heroine: Eve - She grew up with her single mother, they moved from place to place changing names each time. They were running from someone but her mother will never tell her who or why or anything really. After her mother dies in a plane crash, Eve is invited to be a student at the Bradford Hills Institute. She is a human but has an interest in science, especially having to do with Variant DNA and abilities.

The Hero(es): Tyler (a.k.a. Gabe) – He is an administrator at the Institute, very handsome and all the women want him. He is a Variant and his power is reading minds.
Ethan (a.k.a. Kid) - He is a student at the Institute, a Variant with the power of fire.
Alec (a.k.a. Master of Pain) – He works for a mysterious organization that rescued Eve from the ocean after the plane crash in which only she and the Variant Co-pilot survived. He is a Variant and his power is causing pain. Almost everyone gives him a wide berth due to the fact that sometimes his power leaks from him and gives people nearby headaches.
Josh - Kid’s friend who grew up with the other guys. He is a Variant with the power of Telekinesis.

The Love Story: Eve is enjoying the institute and having a home where before she moved from place to place. The four guys seem extremely interested in her from the start. All four guys grew up together and went through some things when they were young. The four guys live together. They are all Variants (which another word for people with DNA that gives them special abilities).

The audio/narration on this one was very odd. The female narrator was perfect for this one. The character of Eve is 18 years old and the narrator’s voice reminded me of a Emma Roberts at about that age, so it was perfect. Though the male narrator reminded me of a movie trailer narrator, the voices for the 4 guys sounded way too old and had the inflection like he was narrating movie trailers “In a world…”.

Though one thing I really liked about the narration on this book was that even though it was told in Eve’s POV, the male narrator did the male voices. In all the audiobooks I have listened to, when it is the female POV, the female does the male voices and when it is the male POV the male does the female voices. I always thought it should be this way. Though I would have liked it to be multiple POV. I like to hear the Heroes POV.

The story was great. Though as far as romance, it is a slow burn. The reverse harem aspect is coming along though there isn’t a lot of intimate contact between the main characters as of yet. That is fine though as it is more realistic than a bunch of people jumping into bed together or the heroine jumping in and out of each of the men’s beds. The Variant storyline is extremely interesting and the secrets are even more so. I am completely enjoying this so far.

There's stuff that I liked a lot about this book.

- Cool setup, kind of an X-Men thing
- Even though we're dealing with an lead character that is 18, she's had a weird, rough life that has grounded her away from a lot of YA bullcrap that generally makes me DNF.
- We have women characters who are awesome (I feel like lately, in every UF I read, any woman who isn't the lead is some horrid bitch who is trying to bring the lead down). Real girl friend relationships, yay!
- Backstory on Eve that makes me super curious and invested

There's also stuff I really hated about this book.

- We're told repeatedly that Eve is super smart, but she is utterly brainless about some really obvious things. It felt forced for drama, and out of character.
- Eve seems to completely forget about her own history the moment she goes to school. I mean ... her mom had them in hiding! They moved every year! They've had some near misses, she says - shit exploding around them as they are running to get away - so she knows it is legit. But she never once pauses to think if any of this is a good idea. Going to school, getting the required blood tests, committing to be in one place for years and years, ... and then later, going to big public events with paparazzi, having her picture in magazines. It made her feel like an idiot. I would get if she wrestled with it and decided she doesn't have a choice, but this book is in her POV and it never even enters her mind. It never occurs to her that she's doing exactly what her mother avoided, and drawing attention to herself ... and she never wonders if that is putting her in danger. Why? Why??
- Eve just accepts that no one around her tells her anything about anything. I mean, really, is she part of their group, or isn't she? She's treated like an outsider that isn't ever part of the conversation. That's ooooookay in the first book as their relationships are just forming, I suppose, but I will lose my shit if it continues.
- Alec. I hate Alec. I don't give a shit what his deal is, what he's done is unforgivable. He's a complete bag of shit. From the immediate abandonment, to blocking her attempts to find him, to lying about their relationship, to flaunting sex with another woman in front of her, to utterly betraying her, to ... just being a complete piece of human garbage at every opportunity.
- Eve throwing herself repeatedly at a complete bag of shit. Yes, Alec.

To go in further on that last point: I cannot fucking stand how prevalent these kinds of fucked up relationship dynamics are in UF with lead female characters. And while I used to just roll my eyes about it ... dude, we live in a world that is slowly becoming Handmaid's Tale. I just can't fucking stand seeing this shit reinforced constantly. Can we please, please stop giving girls and women the idea that they have to put up with a man treating them this way? Can we stop with the "he is only mean to you because he likes you" bullshit? Can we stop showing strong female characters obsessed and addicted to men who belittle and betray them, and go out of their way to be hurtful? Alec, in this story, feels like two fucking different people. Sometimes he's incredibly sweet, and then other times (most times) he's a complete fucking asshole. Now, as someone who has experienced an abusive relationship, let me tell you: that's how it goes. They're sweet sometimes. And the sweet moments become this beautiful highlight that you put on a pedestal, positive that if you just do X right or handle Y perfectly for him, you'll get that sweet person. And when you don't, well, you must have messed up, but keep trying because that sweet guy is in there. He'll come out if you just do the thing right.

These kinds of narratives are so incredibly destructive to women. They help normalize the idea that we can and should love someone who treats us with disgust and anger. That eventually, he'll just "come around" and finally love you like you deserve. And it's gross, you guys. It is just gross to me.

Why do we women do this to ourselves? Why do we not only allow ourselves to be treated this way in real life, but then also continually romanticize it in fiction? Why?

So while I liked the story, I'm really torn about this. Because I hate Alec, and I just know Eve will continue to hurl herself at him, until he finally agrees to accept her. How incredibly gross, and disempowering.

Big YES.
Variant Lost hits all the right spots.

+ Smart, pro active heroine
+ Three dimensional secondary characters
+ Sismance
+ Mystery
+ Action
+ Just enough tragedy
+ Not overly obnoxious harem members
+ Boarding school (cause duh)
+ Not completely romance focused

If I had to list one con? Alec, kind of a miss as the broody dark love interest. The Master of Pain is a bit of a drama queen.

For:
+ Readers that have too many misses with the RH trope

You should also like:
+ Charcoal Tears
+ Gifted Connections 1

Trigger warning: Grief

Had a promising start but went downhill once the whole Vital arc started (which is a shame because that's what this whole series is all about lol)

There was just too much.. kissing? I'm not a fan of the whole channeling energy through touch thing because it's such a beacon for instalust and instalove.

I think my main problem is with the fmc, Evelyn. She was so quick to accept what was happening to her & was too positive about it for my liking 😭 once she found out the boys were in her bond she just started calling them "her boys" and I got the biggest ick from that lol

The guys also got too protective too quickly. Except for Alec and his dramatic ow drama I guess😒 He's the only one keeping me going at this point, he's not really my favorite (honestly... don't think anyone is. The instalust & insta closeness ruined everything for me) but he's got secrets and I'm curious enough to want to continue to the next book.

The plot twist at the end was underwhelming because it was so obvious. Like of course it would be them lol

I hope the next book is better!

defiantly YA

So this started out so good, but it turned into a teenage soap real quick. I'm kind of disappointed in the direction the author decided to take this. To much political chit chat, and out MFC, just came across as weak.

Also I posted a review on Amazon after reading this story, and literally two minutes later my comment was deleted and I was told I'm unable to right reviews anymore because I violated there terms.. which I didn't, then I noticed every single come t that wasn't three or higher was also deleted.

Couldn't put this ebook down!

Variant Lost is the first book of The Evelyn Maynard Trilogy. In it, you will meet Evelyn.. but she goes by Evie.. Eve.. and that's about it. She's on the run with her mom because she kind of broke the rules. Their rules. Never trust anyone.

So they are on a plane flying to a new destination where she starts a new secret life. Unfortunately things don't go the way they planned. Their plane is attacked she wakes up to find out she's an orphan. A year later, Eve is at school. While there she meets this weird group of boys - who just happen to be family. She doesn't know it yet, but they are going to end up being bonded.

Now of course the guys were wonderful. Ethan, Josh, Tyler, and Alec were to die for. They definitely reminded me of the guys in Kit Davenport's books which is probably why they were all so lovable. Once they all met, you could see the chemistry between her and all the guys. If I had to choose a favorite, I might pick Josh. Normally I would pick Alec but the whole hot and cold thing is definitely making me change my mind. I did, however, like the little smut I got from them.

Besides them, I did like her friendships with Zara, Dot, Charlie, and Beth. Everyone of them made me smile. The ending was a good cliffhanger but I feel like Beth was an unnecessary death - which I hate. Why make me fall in love with a character just to kill her off like that? Beth deserves justice my friends.

Overall, I need the next book right now!

Lost the plot

Eve has been on the run from an unknown enemy all her life, but all that changes when she loses her mother in a devastating accident.

In Eve’s world 18% of the population are Variants, super powered beings with access to an energy source called the Light. Eve is a brilliant STEM student and after a 12 month period of morning in a small town, she’s offered a scholarship to an elite, prestigious college attended by variants and brilliant humans.

I was hooked initially by Eve’s detached exposition voice, but this book is a mildly frustrating mess and I’ve given up at around 45%. I’m still considering this enough of the book to get a good picture of what’s wrong with it for me.

I’m frustrated that no villain character has emerged, and this book desperately needs one. The start has some power in the mystery of why Eve and her mother where on the run, whether there was any menace behind the accident and then the sudden offer of a lifetime. These could have been good, tense details, if not for the fact that everyone is so cuddly and nice. Arguing and being stroppy are mildly amusing character traits the heroine indulges. There’s vague ‘people are in danger if they have powers from people,’ and I’ve stopped reading following a point where a character is badly hurt and there’s been a huge revelation, leading to training mode and more expository warnings, but nothing that’s happening has teeth, or even a hint that teeth are coming.

And this is a cuddly reverse harem. No sexual chemistry, no sexual tension, just a bit of ‘ooh naked stuff, how embarrassing’ surrounded by fluffy caring for others and being so concerned about their welfare that you’re willing to sacrifice your own comfort.

For a supposedly smart person who had been raised to distrust everyone Eve is incredibly naive about how what she is makes her a target for exploitation. I thought all her boys were boring. I thought the fire one had a boring power and seemed about 10 years old. The TK boy was bland. The older lie detector boy was also bland. The older cranky pain boy was irrational and dumb.

There may be an entire population of readers who like Marvel movies but just wish they’d take out the violence and injury and death, in which case maybe this if for them. It’s definitely not for me. I want characters to have flaws and to suffer and to overcome hardship (and actually have a hard time) and to have relationship struggles and huge sexual chemistry with an interesting character but still really worry about whether it’s going to work out ok, None of that is happening in this book.

I always wanted to read RH (Reverse Harem) books. I have tried to read them before but nothing seemed to keep my attention. Then I came across this book which was interesting enough but not for long.

Firstly The Variant has an amazing plot. People in this book have amazon abilities to control the weather or to run faster or to read minds etc etc. Such people are called Variants.

Guy no.1 Tyler
Variant ability : Lie detector
Sweet and understanding
He is Eve’s admin, the university staff member. He helps her out in getting settled in the university. I didn’t feel much chemistry here. There interactions were boring for me. Basically he is kinda the mature guy in this RH book.

Guy no.2 Ethan aka Kid (what kind of name is kid?)
Variant ability : Fire ability
Hot and popular
He is the hottie who flirts around but no serious relationships. He is attracted to Eve. He invites her over to his party. This relation was fine and believable.

Guy no.3 Alec
Variant ability: Master of Pain (Causing Pain)
Rude and arrogant
This one I hated. He is the one with the ow. He kisses the ow in front of the h. He is rude towards the h. Still why she tries to talk with him I don’t understand. He did save her from the plane crash but he doesn’t want her thank you and she still goes after him.

Guy no.4 : Josh
Variant ability: Telekinetic ability
Boring
This was weird. He and Eve have seen each other before, bumped into each other but there was no recognition or interest. But suddenly in the party he and she kiss each other. No chemistry felt here again.

So even if these guys are variants, they can only use their ability to some extent. For them to use their abilities fully they need a Vital. Vital is another group of people who gives power boost to these Variants, who then can perform their abilities fully. Kind of like true Mates. Variant and Vital. So no points for guessing that the heroine Eve is their Vital.

Firstly I want to say that I liked reading this RH thing. It’s amazing to see a girl getting attention from so many guys. She is the centre of their universe. So I enjoyed getting immersed in this kind of fiction. But It’s hard to keep up with so many guys. Two is fine, three will do too but four? Nopes. It’s crowd. But that’s RH for you.

The book started just right. But later it started getting boring.
Eve was not likable. She was quite comfortable with the guys very quickly.
So even after having a good plot this book couldn’t held my attention later on.

How do I put this? Hmm. In the beginning, it was somewhat intriguing, what with the plane crash having only two survivors. But it was boring, slow.

And then Eve met the guys. The dynamic... was dangerously off. The interactions.... the conversation... were all unnatural. The confrontation never seemed to work. Alec was a promising romantic interest but along the way his character was just... stupid. Yeah, he might have issues or some shit, but one moment he was laughing and the next he was moody as fuck? I mean, if he was bipolar or something, I’d be okay with it but the writing... damn.

The interaction was very damn awkward. I thought about dnf-ing this, however, I needed to see where this is going. It’s very obvious who’s the bad guy is.

Eve’s character... I think I had whiplashes with her sudden mood changes. It’s very inconsistent. At first I thought she was the typical emo teenager, but then she was the awkward shy sweet girl and then suddenly she was the bold strong give-no-shit woman? I mean... stick to one type and let it develop. Lol.

ANYWAY, have I mentioned Alec? Damn, he had so much potential. Eve needs to be more rough with the damned stupid moody brooder. Punish him and put him in his place. Don’t be such a weak ninny, Evelyn. Kick him in the shin if you must. String his balls or slap the fuck out of him I don’t care. Or just completely ghost him and be very happy with Ethan baby, Josh sweety and Tyler. Ugh. Fucking Alec Zacarias being moody shit without reason 🔪

Overall, not a good read. I don’t get the Variant and Light thingy much. It’s urban fantasy, and I think it’s not something I like. I probably would if it’s not explained as boring as it is in the book. However... I think I’ll continue with the next book to see how it’ll be. Hopefully Alec gets his shin kicked or something.

Read other books from this author in the future: yes

Evie survives a plane crash in which her mother dies. She moves in with foster parents and lives with them for a year before she is admitted to a renowned Bradford Hills institute where she can study.
Here she meets her roommates and men. And she learns that she is a variant of a special kind and not a human like she thought.
I found the book entertaining and exciting. Unfortunately it ends on a cliffhanger and now I am very curious about the next book of this trilogy.

Did I think, when I first read this book; that I would keep coming back to it to re-read it again and again? Nope. I loved it, but it was not on my favorites list. Then, I would be doing something random, would remember a scene, and have the urge to return to this world and just re-read the books. No matter how many times I read these books, I enjoy them every single time. This is a well-written book, a RH, and has very smart characters! If you are looking for a good RH, then look no further.

I liked the book. The plot and premise were good, the world was good, the characters were alright (some were a little OTT), but something kept me from being full invested. It wasn't holding my attention so I easily became distracted and would wander off to do something else just to return later. That is the reason for 3 Stars. I do recommend the book and will continue on with the series.

Although this book strongly resembles the Seraph Black series by Jane Washington, I almost prefer this one over that series. Alec is Silas all the way, Tyler is Miro and Josh and Ethan are definitely the twin. Overall this was actually really good, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

This book was the first in a very long time when I didn’t know what to expect exactly.

Since I’ve never read or heard of Vitals, I didn’t know Who or what they are or what they could do. It was an amazing thing to sidestep from vampires, werewolves, witches and more.

Within the first few pages I was already hooked! I guess the tragedy sucked me in and I wasn’t letting go of that. The mysterious person was my focus same as Evelyn’s, I couldn’t get him out of my head.

The book was just plain amazing! Easy to read but captivating! Like a ton! Haha...
The story, the characters, the Vitals...everything in this book was kind of new but old at the same time to me.

Especially I loved one part I read when I seriously didn’t expect it to happen...like that doesn’t happen to me like at all these times, so I really loved it!

This was a second book I’ve read by Kaydence and I loved both! Different genres both times, but needless to say her writing is amazing!

I’m looking forward to read any book by Kaydence.

So many things to say, where to start.

First, I had a really hard time with the fully capitalized version of “OK.”
What’s wrong with “okay”???
Or simply “ok”

Lol I know it’s silly, but some things tick me.

I’m actually not sure what to make of this book.

Eve
Some interactions were a little TOO high school for me. I get she’s young but when the book feels like the fantasy fiction version of High School Musical... it doesn’t always attract me. She’s not strong. Slightly annoying. Hoping that progresses in the positive direction moving forward.

Which I am slightly intrigued for book two.

I just wasn’t wowed with book one. The ending dragged a bit. But the plot thickens and now I hope that means more action and adventure in the next installment.

Hopefully more emotion.

Jk guess there wasn’t much to say.

Evelyn Maynard has only ever known one way to live- by hiding and running. After a horrific plane accident leaves her stranded and alone in the ocean, she's rescued by a stranger who she can't seem to get out of her mind.

Fast forward to her getting a scholarship to the exclusive Bradford Hills Institute where she comes face to face with her mystery man, only it doesn't exactly turn out as she plans. Evelyn then channels her energy into fulfilling her life's dream to study Variant DNA which enables humans to experience "superpowers".

As Evelyn begins to settle down and think she can actually build a life instead of running, shocking revelations are revealed that leave her devastated!

I was honestly surprised by this book because I went into it expecting it to be a raunchy reverse harem and while there are elements it doesn't quite hit the spicy mark just yet. That isn't to say the premise isn't there, but the author casually teases readers with the promise of it and I have to admit that I quite enjoyed the intensely slow burn.

The author, Kaydence Snow, developed an irresistible cast of characters who each have their unique traits and issues but somehow still manages to compliment each other. Navigating a relationship with one guy is rough, throw in three extras and things can start getting problematic. I was impressed by Kaydence's ability to organically introduce Evelyn to each of the guys and not immediately dive into orgies which led to them developing relationships that felt more realistic and in turn made me connect with all the characters even more

Also, there's an actual plot within the book that's quite intriguing and mysterious. The premise of Variants having powers that can be exemplified by a vital was very interesting and gave a different spin to the supernatural genre. I like that Evelyn starts as a regular girl who becomes so much more. The introduction of several secondary characters served to enhance the story and I became invested in them.

I am honestly hooked on these books and cannot wait for book two!

DNF. Absolutely not.

i really wanted to like this story and honestly i’m only about 25 percent into it and i did. the backstory seemed pretty interesting but i couldn’t do it.

Why you may ask…

how do i say for once i want to read a rh with no manwhores. i’m not even halfway into the book and we already know Ethan (or Kid) is a manwhore. He doesn’t have a gf but he fucks around and then dumps. That’s all he does. I’m not sure about the other harem members because i didn’t meet them yet but knowing this rh already has 2 manwhores is just a no, no for me. i read other reviews and one thing has made itself clear. Alec is terrible. I’m pretty sure every rh has a guy who hates the heroine at first and im okay with that, but what im not okay with is fucking other people after you meet the heroine and flaunting sex with another women in her face. this is absolutely disgusting. keep in mind the guys are literally destined to be with the heroine and I believe they know this, however Alec does cheat on her (i'm calling it that since i believe it kind of is) with Dana after the heroine HAS ALREADY MET HIM and Dana the girl who the heroine tries to befriend in the third book. WTF.

Also, beginning of the third book, Alec is refusing to have sex with the heroine. I mean hey, that's fine but what i have a problem with is the fact Alec continued to have sex with other women after he already knew he was destined to be with the heroine and has already met her. so somehow when the heroine tries to have sex with him he says no even though he's literally been sleeping with other girls after they met. this makes no sense to me. So basically the heroine is pushing Alec to have a sexual relationship with her which is just one out of the many of the heroines problems.

After reading more reviews and quotes from the books i'm still at a lost. people are saying they can genuinely see how much Alec cares for the heroine and how much he loves her. If he did then why the actual fuck was he flaunting having sex with another woman in the heroine's face.

also (this isn’t a big deal to me but i know for some other people it’s a deal breaker) the heroine has had a reputation with men and was in a serious relationship. after her mom found out she didn’t say goodbye to him before they left. she ended up changing her last name to his last name. she gave him a lot of first and he is not one of the harem members.

if anyone actually knows of an rh that doesn’t have manwhores (i would prefer if all the guys were virgins) please let me know bc at this point it’s utterly ridiculous.

Evelyn "Eve" has been on the run most of her life, but doesn't know why. A plane crash leaves her without any family or friends until she makes her way to Bradford Hills Institue, a school with a high ratio of Variants (people with special abilities). While there, Eve finds out that she has a special ability that bonds her to a special group of guys.

First, I gotta admit that this reminded me of Kit Davenport: The Complete Series, but with more of sci-fi twist instead of fantasy. If you liked Kit Davenport, you will probably like this series too. There are a lot of similarities, but enough differences to stand on its own too.
We've got a special school, some weird government types trying to get their hands on our FMC, and even the guys' personalities are similar (Tyler & River, Josh is like a combo of Wesley and Caleb, and Alec is a combo of Cole and Austin), but, I tried not to get bogged down in the comparison and just enjoyed the story. I loved it, thought it was well done. As a side note, I know it is ridiculous, but I especially appreciated that our FMC I can't wait for the next book; I hope it comes out soon! Smut factor on this RH is low, only a 2 out of 5 - we are just getting things started after all.

Read advance reading copy in 2018 - review posted elsewhere, however just posting it now on goodreads.

As said above I was generously given an advance reading by Kaydence Snow and in return this is my honest review.

Variant Lost is the first book not only by this author but it is the first book to open my eyes to a story of magic, and it did not dissapoint in delivering an amazing and new experience for me.

This is a reverse harem that I can guarantee is not like what you expect when you hear this sub genre. It is far from smutty and cliche, it is far from your typical reverse harem. This Reverse Harem has more to do with the story of each character and their relationship with one another, rather than the sexual chemistry between them. I have read a fare few and not one has gripped me in and held me hostage to the story like Variant Lost.

With four heroes with various abilities, one human heroine discovering her place in the world, and one strong story line that keeps you captivated... What's not to love about it?

This is Kaydence Snow's first novel and when reading it, if i did not know already, I would not have guessed that it was. She allows her characters to tell their story and really puts you into the story yourself with how well written it is.

There is so much I want to say about how much I love this book, however I can't without spoiling it all for you. So download this novel today on Amazon or Kindle Unlimited and see for yourself why this is one of my top reads of 2018, as well as a 5 star read for me.

Frustration. That is what I feel after reading this. Pure frustration.

First this FMC and multi-MC business was insanely aggravating. I hate hate hate one of the MCs and that would have been acceptable if I had connected on any level with the others. *smh* One treats her like shite, one is overly needy to the point of being childish, one is letting the others pretty much dictate the time he gets with Evie (aka the wimp), and the other is willing to help her but without benefits. The relationship/s just never leveled up. I realize this is a trilogy but there needed to be a step taken.

Second the storyline was incredibly slow. About 33% and I was dying. I made it to 54% and things started to pick up. There was too much information and there was unnecessary information.

Third and this is what perplexed me the most is that I want to read book two 🤦🏼‍♀️. It like that sexy guy you just know is going to set the sheets on fire but he has minute man syndrome yet you just got to shag him again to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.

So I’m gonna shag him again lol. Hoping book 2 is satisfying.

Happy reading! DD💕

Not bad, not bad at all.

I can confidently say this is one of the few RH books I've read where the heroine isn't a complete snowflake. It made for an exciting experience. I liked how the bonds formed, I like the guys in her harem and the writing was pretty good as well.

I hope the energy in this book it spills into the next book because I am pretty invested in finding out what's going on.

This was so fun! Think X-Men meets Shatter Me with multiple relationships :) I stayed up super late finishing this one.
